Great news! That's ALL i've been waiting for..i almost purchased the H Shifter from Fanatec, but it would not be compatible on my Thrustmaster TX for Xbox. This TH8A model will solve 2 problems with 1 shot. :)
Am I the only one that finds it weird that this shifter is $149.99 yet the much heavier and bigger T3PAs are only $99.99? Not saying the shifter isn't worth the money but maybe they should higher they're budget for the pedals, would love some force feedback pedals already. BTW just making sure, you can run the shifter in both sequential mode and the normal mode on the XB1 right?
Funny story. Got the TH8 RS two weeks ago and now this comes out! Hopefully the only difference is compatibility which, again hopefully, won't be an issue when pCars comes out on PS4. I hope they'll add that system's support to the RS.
In case anyone is wondering I've been checking Amazon everyday and they finally have the shifter listed on pre-order and it's scheduled to be released Sep 1st, now only if they'd get the T3PA pedals back in stock and the 1st would get here.
Thank you so much for the reply I finally managed to get the software download a few hours ago it wouldn't download properly for some reason but I got everything to work!! It's so awesome now just waiting for t3pa pedals :D
It's not a con because I'm not impatient and it takes about a minute to make that switch to sequential. What do you mean "how it feels" ? Comparison to the TH8RS, it's the same shifter with added compatibility. There aren't any direct competitors unless you are talking PC only. No other shifter on the market currently works on the XBox One and PS4. If you're talking about the Clubsport shifter.. There's things I like better about the CS Shifter but it comes at a higher cost. I think the TH8A is more versatile for mounting, compatibility and at about $100 less when you figure in the USB adapter you have to purchase from Fanatec if you don't have a Fanatec wheel. You also need to buy a separate clamp if you don;'t have a rig to hard mount it to. If I had to choose just one, it would be the TH8A because I can run it on all my systems, clamp it to anything and it provides solid, positive shifts.
Inside Sim Racing When you want to quickly jump into another car spending a minute in assembly is definitely much worse than the 5 seconds it takes to flick a switch on the csr shifter. It is a much better system. By feel I meant the me feel you get through the stick of the internal mechanism. For the CSR you said it feels mechanical and close to a real car. What about the TH8A?
Just got this shifter today. Really easy to setup, no need to mount either. The clamp has zero wiggle play for me. Also first thing i did was remove that horrible sticker :)
Thanx, Big Kahuna! I was waiting for this one a loooong time... Between the Fanatec and this one, this is the more sensible option when it comes to the price.... th8rs is E 116,50 overhere and about that longer throw... i believe there is a guy who makes custom plates for this shifter in order to bring down the throw, So no cons!! Larry
I swapped out for sequential mode for the first time tonight to run some gt2 cars in Forza 5 and its not down shifting for some reason. any clue what I might be doing wrong?
So what's new about it what did they do to improve it it's the exact same as the TH8 The only issue I had with the old shifter is that overtime The tension screw on the side gets loose and doesn't hold tension as good
+Inside Sim Racing Well.. I have, multiple times. Apparently on each I've managed to miss it if you've mentioned why the usb cable is cut... On the other hand... that was the first time I even noticed that it has a cut cable, I'd always just been looking at the Din-slot. :) I just noticed that the time code should have been 1:14 since the 13 is still showing the shifter cable for a fraction of a second. So to clarify, I'm wondering about the wheelbase usb cable that looks cut, not the shifter usb cable which is in two segments so you can swap between din/usb connectors :)
Darin, wonderful indepth as always. Question for you sir. What is the difference between sequential and the 8 gates? (Is sequential mimicing the stick shift of regular consumer cars?)
Compatibility is about it. For Thrustmaster it needed to be done to have the ability to plug into the TX and T300 and add functionality on the XBox One
Darin, thanks for the videos. i've been watching them for some time. Any idea if TH8A H-shifter will get support in Driveclub? I recently treated myself with the shifter but to my disappointment H-shifter is not supported in Driveclub :(
Are you going to make an update video on Forza 5 using T3pa and this? I just want to know how the game feels using the clutch and shifter? Did they make it feel as good as Forza 4 shifting gears wise?
The din cable will not completely plug in to my thrustmaster tmx wheel base. Using the thrust master tha add-on shifted. It's almost as if there is too much facing around the cable making the actual cable not long enough to reach in to connecting space. What can I do to fix this problem?
I have the same shifter you have. And I have the thrustmaster pro racing week with three pedals. Mine only came with the super long usb cable that plugs in to my pc. The din connection did not come in the package. How do I connect shifter to my wheel. And the wheel to the computer? I only have a limited amount of USB ports on my computer.

Can I screw this on a Playseat Evolution shifter holder?
I have 2 of this TH8A Shifters, but i cannot figure out how i can use it with Playstation 3 + Gran Turismo 5 and 6 + Thrustmaster T100 Contact me if you know how i can use it, i can only use it in my PC
Does anyone know of a aftermarket clamp for this product, the bolt used to attach the shifter to a desk has lost all its thread in the spot that I need it to clamp so i can't firmly attach it to my desk. Thanks
Hey, just a question about the th8a shifter. I have a wheel stand and want to hard mount the shifter. How do I hard mount the shifter and are the nessesery screws included or will I have to get them Elsewhere? Any help is appreciated 👍
So if I run a G-27 on my ps3, if I were to plug this shifter straight into the usb hub in the front portion of the console, will it work on Gran Turismo, Nascar, etc.?
Hey Darin or anyone else that has the TX or T500RS. Can someone please help me? I bought the TX wheel used off of Amazon (it came upgraded with the newest firmware and was tested and guaranteed to work) I got it almost two weeks ago and only used it with Forza 5. It worked fine, all of the buttons functioned, the force feedback worked smoothly and no overheating or anything at 100% FFB. I was using it for hours for a few days and absolutely no trouble. The last I used it was Monday and it was fine. I just got a Playseat Challenge today and went from using the clamp on a folding table to mounting it on the Playseat. Now it won't do anything when plugged in (even on PC) I kept trying and it will light up for about a second and the wheel will struggle to turn a few degrees and it shuts off. I have no clue what happened. I had trouble getting the clamp back off the table (because it was a folding table it wasn't flush against the surface and for whatever reason the screw wouldn't turn) so I slid it off and end up breaking the rubber feet on the clamp end (but I was only putting pressure on the table and the clamp, not the wheel. I went to get M6 bolts to mount it that way on the Playseat instead of the table and I removed the rim and brought it with me (which was a good idea because the guy had no clue what M6 bots were) but I don't see how having it upside down and carrying it could have done any damage considering how much it was probably shaken during shipping. My only other theory is the length of the M6 bolts which were 19mm, the manual says maximum of 12mm but I tested them gently by hand and they didn't touch anything. Not to mention when mounted to the rig the wheel plate removes 4 more mm so it's down to 15mm and I really don't see how 3mm over could have hurt it. Especially considering the Playseat came with the exact same length M6 bolts and Playseat even says the Challenge is compatible with the TX so those screws couldn't have been too long. Especially condidering Darin tested it with a T500RS which has the same patter and he probably used the same length screws and if anything the T500RS has to be more full inside than the TX and in his testing nothing shorted out or anything. I contacted Thrustmaster to see if they have any advice and the seller told me they would refund me so I can either get a refund (or maybe exchanged for another one if they have more) because I'd imagine Thrustmaster will charge me to have it fixed. My main question is did I just end up having a defective wheel or was it something I did considering it always worked fine while in use until today when I tried mounting it into the Playseat (because if I get another I don't want to have the same thing happen if I somehow caused it.) Sorry for this being so long but I'm really bummed and hope someone will read it and hopefully knows what happened. Thanks.
Got one question! As well as you can modify the shift throw for the H pattern, Can you modify the sequential throw for for example to have a sequential shifter plate with a longer hole? thanks!
I'm running a Logitech G29 on the PS4. I got rid of the Logitech shifter and opted for the Thrustmaster TH8A. However, nothing happens when I connect it directly to my PS4. Anyone know if it's possible that it can work? (Project Cars, Dirt Rally, Driveclub current games).
Inside Sim Racing Ok cool, I was debating returning the shifter bc I kept hearing conflicting information. Sucks bc this shifter is much better. Thanks for the info.
Great review I am buying this ASAP. I'm a real nob always been a cheap console racer. Finally getting a good setup and need all the little details I can get.I really liked how you were showing different gear settings on pc never even considered it possable. Any do's or don'ts you could throw out there regarding the thrustmaster for the xbox one would be big help.
Thanks for the compliment and for watching! You should come to our forums and post in this section if you need help. www.isrtv.com/forums/forum/120-getting-started-in-sim-racing/
Not so quick question: I'm solely on Xbox one, Forza 5 for now. I'm wondering what happens if you shift, using the gated configuration, from 5th to 3rd (without going into 4th first) after a long strait? Kind of like you might in a real car to help slow the car more quickly. Does the added torque throw the back end of the car out or is this a sound method of slowing the car? I know the car and tune would weigh heavily on this, so for the sake of argument lets say you try it in a well balanced R-Class car. Thoughts or experience on what happens would be great. Thanks.
If you do it right, the rear end won't snap loose.. If you downshift without slowing down significantly before that double downshift, yes it will get the back end out.
Hi! I'm a fellow sim racing lover from China. I've already bought the TX Racing Wheel for Xbox One and I'm wondering if I should buy these awesome add-ons. So I've got a couple questions for you, and hopefully, you can answer me. 1.When will TH8A become available on Amazon? Since I live in China, the only way of getting these stuff is through Amazon Global Shipping. 2. Do I need a Wheel add-on? And if I need one, which one is better? The F1 wheel or the 458GTE wheel? 3. Do I need the T3PA ? P.S. The global shipping cost for the T3PA is about $70. God damn it......
You don't "need" any of it.. You may want to get them though to enhance your TX. The F1 and GTE are both quality rims. Depends on the driving style you want to go with. T3PA in my opinion are a lot better than the stock pedals and really can improve your braking. Also if you get the TH8A, you will have the clutch ;-)
Meo Chan You should get a www.amazon.com/dp/B005KFOTN4/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=24PJRCD91FKUR&coliid=I1C64H54C3B1CW&psc=1 with a www.derekspearedesigns.com/wheel-adapters.html to enhance your TX wheel experience. P.S Amazon will be getting the TH8A and T3PA in stock very soon.
Excuse the silly question, thinking about buying this, if the knob is switchable, is it possible for example to buy a real Sparco shiftknob for example and use it? if it's all just screw/thread??? Again, silly question, just not a massive fan of this knob :p
***** is the thrustmaster Ferrari 458 spider wheel compatible with the t3pa pedals? and is it compatible with this shifter? please reply I cant find anywhere if they're compatible. THANKS
is this compatible with the thrustmaster VG Ferrari 458 Italia ( the red $100 one)? If not, are there any other stick shifters out there that would be compatible with the VG Ferrari 458 wheel?
If I was designing this, I'd definitely have decided to attempt some sort of quick release mechanism for exchanging those plates...
2.5mm torque head, you can use a screwdriver or mini power drill and life will be easier
In Beamng, I have a SQ car, and a M car. And I drive both
i wish the thrustmaster had the feature with the first logitech shifter where you could turn a knob and its in seqential
Great news! That's ALL i've been waiting for..i almost purchased the H Shifter from Fanatec, but it would not be compatible on my Thrustmaster TX for Xbox. This TH8A model will solve 2 problems with 1 shot. :)

They did add the RS to PS4 support.. You can read about it here ! www.isrtv.com/project-cars/pcars-announce-supported-wheels-pedals-list/
Inside Sim Racing Oh nice thanks! GT7 to follow then!
Inside Sim Racing so the rs is a no go on xb1
Is there any noticeable difference between this and the TH8RS shifter? or is it just compatability?
Just compatibility.. Same shifter essentially.
Good enough reason for me to stick to my TH8RS.
Can I use this with my Logitech G920
When does this thing come out
10 times better than Logitech shifter. Yeah it's 3 times more expensive but it's worth every penny
Can I use the th8a in a g29 with the ps4 ?
@@kb3sGaming You can but you will need to buy a DriveHub
how does it compare to the fanatec clubsport shifter? And does the TH8A work with a fanatec GT3V2 w/ GT6?
Fanatec and Thrustmaster are 2 completely different leagues

I am using the Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel and the T3PA Pedals.
The din cable will not completely plug in to my thrustmaster tmx wheel base. Using the thrust master tha add-on shifted. It's almost as if there is too much facing around the cable making the actual cable not long enough to reach in to connecting space.

It is compatible with ferrari 458 spider racing wheel xbox one ?
Wait, so if I have a t500rs, I can't use sequintial on the PC?
Works the th8a shifter without the clutch on the t300
May I plug this directly into a PS3 with Gran Turismo 6 and WRC4 and still use my Logitech G27 wheel?
Why was the power cable cut off on the TX wheel?
It was a non functioning T300 that they were showing at E3

Hey so is this compatible with the Ferrari 458 spider wheel?
Can you get a longer shifter like In a rally car
Is it like I can plug it into a ps4 and it works?
how do i update my shifter i cannot seem to figure it out
Could anyone PLEASE tell me if the th8a shifter is compatible with the logitech g29 with some kind of an adaptor...thank you.
Is it compatible wit the 458 Ferrari spider steering wheel.
Does anyone know of a aftermarket clamp for this product, the bolt used to attach the shifter to a desk has lost all its thread in the spot that I need it to clamp so i can't firmly attach it to my desk. Thanks

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Q.
hi there is it compatible with the logitech g29 steeringwheel on the ps4
I got one but the cable that goes from the shifter to my t150 broke :(
is there a big differenz between the TH8RS and the TH8A?
and which do you prefer to buy?
thanks for answer :)
Wait so if I plug it into my wheel base on pc, I can’t use the 8speed mode? Just sequential??
Does this shifter work with the Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider Racing Wheel?
Where to buy that shifter
How does it compare with the Fanatec Club sport shifter ?
When does it come out?
how many steering wheels do it work with
is there a differnce between this and the th8rs??
what are the dimension on the shifter rod at tip of it
what wheel would suggest for trucksims ats
You could probably turn it around and clamp it to an armrest on a computer chair since you can reconfigure it any way you want anyway.
does the th8rs works with g27 wheel on ps3? ans does the th8rs works on ps4? or only the th8a?

do you need the 3 pedals to use the H shifter?
hey Darin do you know when the th8a and the t3pa pedals will be on sale in te U.S?
Not compatible with G920 on Xbox One :(
Yes it does work on a PC, because it is a standalone device, but it doesn't work on console.
Does it work with Thrustmaster ferrari f430?
Can I use this with Xbox 360 if so how and where do I plug it in
what steering wheels is it compatible with?
Will this work with the VG Ferrari 458 Spider wheel? I want this, but I don't want to buy a $400 wheel just to use it.

Inside Sim Racing Alright~ Thank you for your answer. I think I'll go for the F1 Wheel. So cool~ Can't wait for the TH8A to come out!!!!
Would this shifter work on a thrustmaster Tmx Wheel?
