Over the past 20 years, many companies have developed products that promise to accurately reproduce classic analog effects, but Strymon has turned that pursuit into both a science and an art. Perhaps the best testimony to the quality of Strymon's effect pedals is the near-ubiquitous presence of their products in the pedal boards and racks of countless pros, including some of the most conservative analog-purist guitarists.
The Mobius is Strymon's second "large-format" pedal, sharing a similar configuration to the company's popular TimeLine delay unit, but the Mobius specializes in various modulation effects, including chorus, phaser, flanger, rotary, vibe, tremolo and much more. With true stereo inputs and outputs, MIDI in and out, and memory for 200 presets, the Strymon Mobius boasts the power of a professional-quality rack processor while offering the convenience and immediacy of a stomp box. Love the destroyer setting. Perfect for Wish You Were Here!
5:46 to skip and hear..
Thank you
Excellent video, thanks for posting, much appreciated : )
Good demo. Some of these sounds are very useful
Great review!
Great intro to this effects pedal.
Great job dude
great job paul u rock
Correct me if I'm wrong but on the rotary setting, you can only go between the fast and slow setting... Which means when he was trying to do tap tempo he was actually turning fast off and on again meaning he changed nothing
Good review.
.....and of course you cant wait to overdrive!!! Thank goodness we have justnick for reviews
The destroyer effect was taken from a preset on the axe fx2
Cool pedal, reminds me of the Line 6 FM4 a little bit.
Haha I like the GRAMMA pad for the prop ! Thumbs up, I love those
Funny how he is trying to fit those pentatonic scale into every effect.
Great Guitar ;-)
My only regret regarding these Strymon pedals is the "failure" to allow the combination of at least TWO effects. You can only use one at a time.
It would require a processor at least two times more powerful or a much lower sound quality. So it has to be two times more expensive, or you buy a line6 device (no disrespect regarding line6 products and fans).
But there are other products, like the "TC Electronic NOVA Modulator" that presents two banks with the same options with the possibility of different effects settings. You can enable, for example, a chorus effect in the first bank (and make the desired settings), and a flanger effect on the second bank (and also set it as desired) to work simultaneously. In total, there are two separate banks of 6 effects (chorus, tri-chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo and vibrato).
I understand, but the TC modulator has less processing needs per effect than the strymon. Wanting two digital effects to run simultaneous is like playing two videogames at the same time on 1 computer. It's OK with less processing needs (thuss less detailed and lower quality DSP) but not with the needs from Strymon's programs.
9:30 sounded like Summerland, by King's x.
Paul goes to a barber and says gimmie 1 of everything
Great sounds but can you have more than One effect on at a time, like Phaser & Flanger?
Here a really cool (enter effect name here) sound. Congratulation, you are now a guitar pedal reviewer!!
Nice
To those who pay so much attention to Paul's hair and not the demonstration, I must wonder why you bother to watch. I benefit musically from these demo's. Maybe there are too many "want to be guitarists" who should spend their time in beautician's school?
I can't wait to hear what @davyknowles will create with it.
What is the effect he is using at 8.15? Tremolo?
The universe is in balance again.
He should think about what he's going to play ahead of time.
Great demo Marty! Sorry, Paul... Paul...
what guitar is that?
Watch Strymon's own demo of this pedal. Much better
guitar cables?
If ever a RUclips demo would make me NOT buy a product this is it.
You know I was JUST thinking the same exact thing.
@@elonmust7470 it’s not the pedals fault, he played fast licks with effects that go best with slower ones to flourish, and vice versa....way better demos out there
If you bought a pedal for each effect you have here you'd pay quite a bit more than the 450 I think.
Tom Duvall you are right. $450 seems like a lot but it just cut 4 pedals out of my loop switcher so that's worth it right there. And with an expression pedal I'm pretty sure I can get one of those filters to sound like Wah wah.
it's tempting, if only to free up pedal board space
but a lot of the fx like the phaser, filters and autowah i'd use almost never; much better done in analog domain imho
Jaidezilla it will sound exactly like a Wah. And the Vibe will sound just like a Deja Vibe. There’s a talk box effect and one of the best flanger tones I’ve ever heard. It also has a great phaser. One of the coolest features is a pattern tremolo with a ramp mode which sounds the trem patterns super percussive with a ton of variety. Super fun to play with.
Cool! I wish you had used only clean tones. These days I can't seem to stand the sound of distortion. I think it just destroys everything. Well, well. I dig that you "have to" show it.
Aw man. I was about to make a sarcastic meta-hair comment.
What's on his head?
A small rat's nest.
You are aware that blues was a major influence on early rock bands which have then influenced modern musicians right?
Paul is great !
Check out the demo of this on rob chapmans channel.... It is SICK!
Nice pedal, but only a few days ago the Captain and Bea nailed the demo.
This was 10 years ago....fuck
All I could think the entire time was "wash that fucking hair....." The poor bastard that got the pedal next probably could not even turn the knobs.
I think these videos ought to start with the demonstration and then take you to the analysis.
Ho to return in bypass? :D
What brand of lawn mower do you use to hack up your head?
HolidaySound2008 bruh 😂
ROGL
Cool gibson les paul !!!!!
Nowadays, I come to guitarworld videos just to see the hating comments. Today is such a dissapointment.
Pages Les Paul, yep ?
Good pedal if you want to experiment with sounds, but at 449 $, it`s a bit much
Sure, if you buy two.
Is that a hair piece?
Gary Numan?
And at only $450 you will only have to sell one of your kidneys!
Gee Mac72 Yeah but if you bought all these separately you'd have to sell both your kidneys, your mother's, and you new-born babie's.
I'm usually not a big fan of Paul (or his hair), but I must say he did a great job with this demo.
11:45 Bioshock Infinite.
Looks like he rode a motorcycle backwards on the highway
Is he wearing a hairpiece ?
Headstock says it's Gibson Les Paul MODEL.
Damn....all that panel space and just two generic parameter knobs. more knobs + a shift button could cover everything non-macro or midi related
Any pro fx unit MUST have a dedicated wet/dry mix knob or it is far less usable in performance and improvisation.
If he gets out of bed to do this, then why not haha
jesus christ 5 minutes of talking about it before hearing it..i don't even want one anymore.
Tyler i hear ya... i hate that. This pedal doesn't justify the price... sounds like a bunch of dod pedals in one
even worse, he's feeding it with some nappy-ass tone, just jamming that LP in there all upper mid-heavy
Dat Les Paul
inb4 paul's hair
DESTROYER :D
Generic comment complaining about Paul's hair.
Looks like he just got out of bed
Looks like he crawled out of the Oklahoma Tornado !
Just play the guitaaaar!!
That hair...
Look like the Jimmy Page #2 les paul!
It appears that everything is "the great thing."
that bitch cost $500 damn i want it :(
Is this guy Joe Pesci’s son? Leo Getz
a mi siempre me pareció que este tio tiene mucha pluma.
gibson jimmy page number 2 les paul
Generic reply, sharing generic disapproval of Paul's hair.
Good demo but 10.26 Sounds like an farting robot
Please tell me that I’m not the only one who thinks these sound horrible. All I want is a killer Chorus pedal which is what I thought I had bought. I don’t understand any of this shit. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
What a load of old bollocks...!
Generic response to generic comment about Paul's shitty sound
The horrible hairy myth of Paul from guitar world.
But his hair sucks!
Why don't you play some fucking sounds!!!
