I finally got bigsky today. i just wanna say this (or the bluesky) at the end of pedal chain adds so much quality you didn't know you were missing. i bet even the cheapest guitar with the cheapest fuzz/OD would sound great thru it. (a half decent tube amp or quality speakers still necessary)
Just sold my space and IMMEDIATELY realized that this is WAY better in sound, versatility and the banks are so so good. Cloud is sort of like BLACKHOLE but better. Choral is amazing. Spring is just as good as my Princeton Reverb. So many possibilities here. No regrets selling off the SPACE which was a bit digital sounding. This one sounds ORGANIC. Lovely.
What a great review! You made everything very clear and straightforward. No offense to other videos, you covered everything! Can’t wait to have one soon!
Awesome review! Helped understand all the modes and power that it holds. So in the end use, it means you can switch between all those customized presets and banks while playing live without touching any knows only the pedal 🤔
Thanks, understands a bit more now.. But, I experience that a pedal suddenly changes/jump to another one..?? So I do something wrong obviously, being a newbie.. I just bought it for my acoust/elect. pedal harp and the sound is awesome!
The most meaningful BigSky tutorial I have seen so far. Especially as far as the functions and the handling of all those knobs is concerned. I think the BigSky is not just sounding great, it's also enormously versatile - if you know how to handle it and get out all the possible sounds. The only important thing missing is imho some kind of additional display or at least some lights over the knobs that inform you about where you are right now, what settings you are currently using. For it's hard to memorize the current settings without some optical hints. Using a pedal shouldn't demand a masters degree in abstract imagination or engineering.
Hello, this is the best review of BigSky I have come across, EXCELLENT!!!. I would wish to ask you how you compare it with the Eventide H9, mainly for great shimmering effects. I have already very good delays in my rig but I am lacking the effects with which to get rich shimmer and swells, and unfortunately I do not have budget for the two units. I will use it in front of a couple of vox amps either on a pedalboard or in a rack interface that runs in pararel the wet signal with a split dry signal to preserve tonal purity as much as possible. Thank you.
I have noted different demo's from a few people. Not one has bothered to tell me how much,? Can you perhaps help. I am in South Africa and it could take sometime before it gets to our dealerships. Jimmy.
For me it made more sense to buy the blue sky and timeline together it was not only cheaper, but gave me the extras cost to purchase the timeline and they sound great together
When you change your presets in the middle of your playing... does it turns the reverb sound of the current preset off? Or it keeps a bit more? I wonder because i have to change presets live and i wouldnt like that when you change the presets it finishes like super radical. I hope you understand my q.
The pedal have a function called spillover, this function allows to change between presets mixing the effects: one inside the other, but with a condition: the previous preset must be active at least 5 seconds before the preset change I'm learning english, any advice will be well taken :D
Thanks for a great overview of the BigSky. Maybe it should be called the BigInfiniteSky with all of it's possibilities and potential...? lol It is pricey, better start saving now!
Dude, you're awesome. Your Timeline review was amazing, and this one is also killer. I watch this video as a tutorial on how to tweak these awesome pedal. Excellent Review!
+memememememe Im wondering this myself. Im guessing you would need multiple H9s if you wanted multiple effects at once, but you could the the core and just get this algorithm and save 100 i dunno...
Different flavours, and some FX are quite different actually between Eventide and Strymon. Oh, and hands on control over knobs and 3 switches, I guess it's practically if you use reverb a lot to have a dedicated unit. I have 3 Eventide pedals and I'm looking at Strymon for the sake of variety... Also looking at Lexicon, Yamaha and tc electronic Rack units, although the form factor is a concern for me...
Nothing outside of saving an additional 250 bucks I'm guessing. I think the outter fringe of our financial comfort zone is maxed out (for most of us) - - at around $500. Tax rebates are our only hope. Lucky for me - so I'm in!
Hey great job on the review I have one question tho. Is there a way to set reverb presets on this like u can on the timeline or the dd-20? Or do you have to adjust the knobs and keep the settings the way they are during the whole performance and change the reverb type? Just trying to get an idea how this works a bit more. Thanks
Hah, that's funny I thought the cab filter sounded dull and lifeless compared to pure signal. Funny how people hear different.... oh when you add in dirt it sounds better that way but clean sounds better without it
Anyone know how to completely bypass this pedal? I just got it and have no freaking idea. Its obviously not like a normal pedal with an on and off button for when you want the effect to be on but I can't find how to do that.
It doesn't have to be the A button to sustain. You can do it for any preset. And it Sustains the reverb, but not what you can play on top of the sustained reverb. Hope that helps.
Best reverb pedal on the market in my opinion. Absolutely love this and all strymon pedals. Please check out our channel guys to hear our latest original track recorded using the big sky. Many thanks!
Big Sky is a great pedal, this demo needs work. Appreciate the time taken to put this up, but the demonstration used about 10% of what this pedal can actually do.
good job, but u forget keep in mind that NOT everyone is digitaly F..... up to follow ur speedy skip and fancy fingering this beautiful and yet WAY too expensive/worthless device.🥴
+Rick Milam Dude, the perfect combination is an Ibanez tsa30 or 15, it's a tube amp with a tube screamer on the circuit, it has no reverb and since it's a blues oriented amp you could use the amp filter in the bigsky pedal to make it warmer.

thanks for the feedbak, you're making a great point for those who (legitimately) compare both pedals. Thanks again.
What a great review! You made everything very clear and straightforward. No offense to other videos, you covered everything! Can’t wait to have one soon!
The shimmer is a sweet effect
Awesome review! Helped understand all the modes and power that it holds. So in the end use, it means you can switch between all those customized presets and banks while playing live without touching any knows only the pedal 🤔
Your review is really good sir, you even give us a lesson on how to use it. Thank you so much
I know it is kinda off topic but do anybody know a good place to watch new tv shows online ?
Love this pedal, but it was hard to imagine it in perspective because the "Mix" knob was practically maxed out the whole video...
I clicked on this to hear the pedal
Thanks, understands a bit more now.. But, I experience that a pedal suddenly changes/jump to another one..?? So I do something wrong obviously, being a newbie.. I just bought it for my acoust/elect. pedal harp and the sound is awesome!

It does show you what setting you've messed with and it does change lights when it returns to the "default" setting.

great review and demo.. got a bigsky today and this saves me a lot learning to use the knobs.. good job
6:23 you hold 'A' switch to sustain a note, do you know if one can do that on the $299. Strymon Blue Sky reverb?
nope
+Tim Han Actually yes you can, I used it in the recording studio for my band Signals To Vega using a Blue Sky pedal.
Superb review, best one I've found on this pedal....
For me it made more sense to buy the blue sky and timeline together it was not only cheaper, but gave me the extras cost to purchase the timeline and they sound great together
But the Bigsky and Timeline are meant to be run together ;)

Yes, my post was 2 years ago, I now own both bigsky and blue sky.
Thank you for your time
How do you save a setting that you like ?
Someone knows how to keep the dacay on when the pedal turns of?
This is probably the best review of this pedal! I just bought it and this helped a lot! Thank you
El pedal es mucho para tu forma de tocar ...

melhor tutorial. congratulations
Man, thanks for taking all the time to teaching us the versatility of that pedal, you r Genius !
Thank you soooo much!
GREAT review!!!!!!
This sounds really rad.
Currently saving up for this, target is 13 weeks from now! :)
Zedrick Tenorio did you get it?! How is it?
Dude, you're awesome. Your Timeline review was amazing, and this one is also killer. I watch this video as a tutorial on how to tweak these awesome pedal. Excellent Review!
is there any point getting this if the h9 exists?
+memememememe Im wondering this myself. Im guessing you would need multiple H9s if you wanted multiple effects at once, but you could the the core and just get this algorithm and save 100 i dunno...

Steve Vy likes to use 2 H9's on most sets.
oh those artifacts on the cloud are cool!
is this thing digital? Does it have true BP?
Yes and yes

+Joshplaysguitar yes, that's what the presets are for.
Hah, that's funny I thought the cab filter sounded dull and lifeless compared to pure signal. Funny how people hear different.... oh when you add in dirt it sounds better that way but clean sounds better without it
I have had that very same experience in my home studio, a good DI can sound great for clean electric guitars specially with ambience FX :)
how does this thing stack up against the Eventide Space Reverb?
The way I understand it is the Big Sky is better in a practical sense but with The Space, you can do more creative and weird stuff
Levi McDuffie thanks.
Thank you very much very informative video
Anyone know how to completely bypass this pedal? I just got it and have no freaking idea. Its obviously not like a normal pedal with an on and off button for when you want the effect to be on but I can't find how to do that.
+Michael Fine you could get a true bypass switcher and just run it through it
Please help me understand:
When you press and hold the A button, does it sustain the note you play or the reverb?
It doesn't have to be the A button to sustain. You can do it for any preset. And it Sustains the reverb, but not what you can play on top of the sustained reverb. Hope that helps.
So you can play you’re note and sustain it but play something over the top off it without the sustain?
10:18 Pokemon :)
I MUST HAVE THIS PEDAL, I NEEEED IT!!! BUT NO MONEY!!! :'(
its about 300-400 pounds in UK :(
MADTAIL (Another Ambient August) $500 in the U.S
😢
Tragically, only in mono.... Jolly good review though...
Noob alert. At the beginning are you saying cab filter or cad filter? Is that a pedal?
Cab filter I believe. There's a switch on the back side of the pedal that turns it on and off
Best reverb pedal on the market in my opinion. Absolutely love this and all strymon pedals. Please check out our channel guys to hear our latest original track recorded using the big sky. Many thanks!

Would have would have been a much better video had you PICKED through the chords rather than just strumming them most of the time, but thanks anyway.
I think the word you're looking for is arpeggiate.
Which is the button to switch between inbuilt presets?
