I want to thank you because you are the first person to mention how you change presets ...using the VALUE knob or the bank up/down buttons...not the TYPE knob! That has confused my newbie brain for a long time. Thanks again!
Great job! You moved quickly enough to get through everything and still able to hear what this amazing machine can do. Can't wait to get my own. I have a Bigsky and of now he needs his cousin, the Timeline next door! Heavenly sounds!!
This pedal is intense. You review is awesome, how anyone can dislike THE REVIEW of it is ridiculous. Maybe they dislike the pedal but the review was great.
On Tape mode the Grit knob is the bias, and the middle is normal bias(cleanest) setting, and in digital to get the clearest delays you need to used the low cut control
Good & quick demo.Your value knob usage was an eye opener.Great sound at 9:43 with that Long ice effect.Wish there could be a way of sharing settings between users. Those settings are great!
Buying this delay pedal within the next week. I have the SD Vapor Trail analog pedal which is much warmer. The Time Delay will be a great accompaniment and will offer much more options
Thanks for this amazing in depth review. You are extremely knowledgable and helpful with this review and Its made me subscribe, because I really appreciate all the effort and time you put into this. Its made me realize just how incredible this pedal is. I think the tone is so beautiful and its such an incredible, diverse pedal.
great demo...made it clear to me that it has far more functions than I would every use. on to the el capistan? Or something further down the price line, less complicated, yet quality effects
This is an excellent review, with a good, comprehensive look at the TimeLine and its various functions, and I've since purchased the TimeLine myself, but I'm afraid it still doesn't compare to the versatility of my now 20-year old TC-2290 Dynamic Digital Delay, which I picked-up used for less than the cost of the TimeLine. See Gilmour, see Knopfler, see TC Electronic 2290 . . . arguably the 'Holy Grail' of delays.
I like this pedal when first heard it the tineline but all ready had the tc nova delay so I got that and the big sky and the Mobius your demo is really good thank for the demo. John
Great video.....makes me think the Timeline is more than I need. I’m thinking El Cap after seeing this. Great video. Great pedal. Just more than I need I think.
Multi-mode delay pedal is the way to go. El cap is only tape. It's gorgeous tape but it's only tape. You can live (play, try, experiment, test) longer with the multi-style delay pedal whether it's DD20, TimeLine, FlashBack, Nova, Time Factor etc. Go for the versatility usually be safer choice.
the H9 kills them all. eventide been doing this for a long time. i spent 2k on strymon stuff got smart and bought 2 H9's which replaced all my strymon effects plus my H9's have pre/post and distortion, fuzz, and OD now.I did side by side a/b with them and the H9 killed everything strymon had. now I have a lot more room on my board as well
I hear both cases that Strymon gear has better sounds than H9. BUT for the money, the Line 6 has them all beat in terms of hundreds of FX and amp modeling in compact package. You can get Line 6 Pod for less and do same thing as all this expensive pedal gear crap.
Wow. I Never realized how much better the El Capistan Sounds vs the Timeline. It's true, The Timeline ( does more ), but The El Cap is Far Superior for that Echoplex, Space Echo Sound. Warmer & more Full Sounding. Sits Better in the Mix. Less harsh & Digital Sounding.
This is my favorite delay so far , it is really good And I disregard some of delay pedal for this its just happen that the price was too much for me , but still in my gear list :)
Have one. I'm heavily into vinyl playback. This is sort of hard to use, really hard to get the effect you want and get good sound. I got rid of one before I got another and really started learning it Re: the vinyl crackling thing.... That's just f***king stupid.
Requires a large learning curve and when you have 20 different devices or more, a person has to go back and learn it all over again. Personally feel it would be nice to have more banks and presets so I can be a bit lazy and rack devices always seem more user friendly.
mxr analog delay is what I use. This is nice for studio work, or even cover songs. Sometimes I want to do different things on songs we play at church. How would I be able to switch sounds in the middle of a set? How does the timeline match up to the Roland GR-55
Can this unit get rid of the ice pick sounds that are coming out ? And also can it do more than duh duh duh ? As I couldn't find a workable use for anything that I have heard so far, plenty of dopey sounds that I could never use in a gig situation.
Value how did you get it to off? Looked like you pressed and rotated CCW I can't get the OFF to show, keeps showing the parameters. Same issue on TYPE it always shows the MS time when I turn the knob even right after I change them all to show title of presets it goes right back to showing MS time, in this demo you turned the knob and it showed preset titles.
I bought a tone king royalist with series effects loop. My delay seems to still sound like it is in front of the amp when I crank the volume. I can hear the echos distorting Would this thing work in the loop or is it just going to overdrive on top of itself
I gotta be honest. I am awaiting delivery on this. But 95% of the features on here are TOTALLY USELESS for a gigging musician. Unless you're Daniel Lanois creating atmospheric sounds for Slingblade, this is all total CRAP! The only reason I am buying this is that I have been using the TC Nova Delay and I need a newer pedal with a digital readout. Great review by the way. Thank you.
Hi, I just bought a strymon timeline second hand and was wondering if you could help me with an issue I'm having-the display refuses to show the preset name, rather whatever I do it just shows the bank number or bpm, any ideas what could solve this?
it's personal preference but the korg sdd 3000, delta lab effectron, lexicon, tc electronic alter ego/flashback, ibanez dmd 2000. Everyone has a different preference i understand that. i like the Strymon, just not $450.00 worth.
***** yes i have, i was lucky enough to have a good friend that bought one and let me take it home for a weekend.it was good, just not $450.00 good. he even agreed. we both have many delay units to compare by.
Can someone explain something to me. With subdivisions what's the deal with numbers like 4/3. This confuses me as I am used to subdivisions like 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/8 dotted (3/16), 1/4 triplet. 4/3 makes no sense to me, plz translate. Haha
Macconator2010 Throughout the same length of time (like one bar), one delay is playing 4 even rhythms and the other is playing 3. After this they line up again. So you would say "four on three". Two repetitions would line up like this: Delay 1: | | | | | | Delay 2: | | | | | | | |
I want to thank you because you are the first person to mention how you change presets ...using the VALUE knob or the bank up/down buttons...not the TYPE knob! That has confused my newbie brain for a long time. Thanks again!
What a fabulous review. Very watchable. In depth but not too heavy
Great job! You moved quickly enough to get through everything and still able to hear what this amazing machine can do. Can't wait to get my own. I have a Bigsky and of now he needs his cousin, the Timeline next door! Heavenly sounds!!
Excellent Review. I'm watching this video as a tutorial! Its that good.
Real nice job on this. Rather than just demoing the factory presets, you took us "under the hood" to show how to tweak them.
Best review of the Timeline, thanks.
How like how subtle the usable range is on most perimeters , just ordered mine yesterday should get it in here pretty soon :)
Great pedal! The infinite sustain feature is amazing.
This pedal is intense. You review is awesome, how anyone can dislike THE REVIEW of it is ridiculous. Maybe they dislike the pedal but the review was great.
I'd bet it's because the review is recorded in mono werhreas the strength of this pedal is to be all-stereo
i just bought this pedal and this is the best video I've seen on it, new subscriber too
Thanks for a great review! So looking forward to getting this!
On Tape mode the Grit knob is the bias, and the middle is normal bias(cleanest) setting, and in digital to get the clearest delays you need to used the low cut control
GREAT demo. Very useful. You've obviously spent a bit of quality time with it
Awesome demo. Thanks for sharing!
Great video, thank you. Best I’ve seen yet on the timeline
Nice demo, absolutely love this pedal. Strymon rule!!!

superb. short and straight to the point.
You're testing the tape-preset without turning the Time-knob... that should be the most tapey effect!
Really cool overview. Thanks !
This is how you do a demo. Well done, my friend.
seamlessly brilliant post, cheers
I like this pedal when first heard it the tineline but all ready had the tc nova delay so I got that and the big sky and the Mobius your demo is really good thank for the demo.
John
Great video.....makes me think the Timeline is more than I need. I’m thinking El Cap after seeing this. Great video. Great pedal. Just more than I need I think.
Doug Edward There is a big possbility after getting the El Cap to get later the Timeline.

Eh that is subjective

You must love you digital tone since the whole signal is converted
Mike Landau Bank 50
Great review!

This pedal is amazing. Clean tones and American Made:)
Great video. thank you!
This is my favorite delay so far , it is really good And I disregard some of delay pedal for this its just happen that the price was too much for me , but still in my gear list :)
Great vid man!
Vinyl effects! Holy fuck. I think I'm gonna sell my car now. Shit!
Lol, I know what you mean.
They're freakin expensive.
Mario Murillo worth every penny
This demo is in mono ... the timeline has stereo outputs ... would love to hear the output in stereo
great demo man
What happens if you type is not saving the effects you want, even if I press it down for 2 seconds
great job!

I used the same Mio brand midi to USB cable for Big Sky and Mobius, but would not upgrade firmware for my Timeline. Someone please help! :(

Anyone know how to make the delay last longer or which effects makes the delay last long?
And I was wondering do you think the big sky and timeline are a great combination?
Value how did you get it to off? Looked like you pressed and rotated CCW I can't get the OFF to show, keeps showing the parameters. parallelle... ^___^
great review btw!
and 8:15 sounds amazing
i have an MXR analog that I want to run w this guy
Love it
A modern classic
I bought a tone king royalist with series effects loop. My delay seems to still sound like it is in front of the amp when I crank the volume. I can hear the echos distorting Would this thing work in the loop or is it just going to overdrive on top of itself
I want it

Does this have a stereo panning effect?
Yes
Hi, I just bought a strymon timeline second hand and was wondering if you could help me with an issue I'm having-the display refuses to show the preset name, rather whatever I do it just shows the bank number or bpm, any ideas what could solve this?
Try clicking the type knob
Well after owning mine since 2012 it's time so say goodbye to the Timeline and welcome the Empress Echosystem.
Dan Jack-son harder to navigate menus on empress with no screen
I bought an Empress and I’m selling it to buy a timeline. Each to their own. I have a big sky and prefer the workflow
cool. does it work in a keyboard?
Is there a hold function on this?
Matt Honnor Looks like theres a hold option on the the right hand switch. You can see it below where it says STOP.
Matt Honnor I believe so. There is on the equivalent Reverb unit (big sky).
5:46 killer!!!!
nice delay, but i've heard just as good for a lot less money.
it's personal preference but the korg sdd 3000, delta lab effectron, lexicon, tc electronic alter ego/flashback, ibanez dmd 2000. Everyone has a different preference i understand that. i like the Strymon, just not $450.00 worth.
+robvoyles have you tried it yourself yet?
***** yes i have, i was lucky enough to have a good friend that bought one and let me take it home for a weekend.it was good, just not $450.00 good. he even agreed. we both have many delay units to compare by.
Elijah Young u ok? sure are up set over an opinion on a delay pedal. And i have no reason to lie about something as meaningless as an effect pedal.
What amp are you plugged in to?
IIIIIIICE!!!!
But where is all the hissing coming from?
Probably using a tube amp
Strymon timeline Demo
Hello!
Can I use this delay in front of clean amp?
+Mikhail Utkin Generally that's exactly how most ppl would use a delay. Some folks put it in the effects loop of an amp. I don't.
Who else thinks this pedal is "a lot of fun"? ;)
Haha

Delay 1: | | | | | |
Delay 2: | | | | | | | |
Like a 1/4 note triplet on top of four 1/8 notes
How many presets can this thing hold??
300
What is the price of the pedal?
$450 USD.
where?
I like the design of the device, looks really cool
I don't like the price, it's definitely overpriced
U get what u pay for bro!
i would buy this just for the ice
fantastic little psychedelic guy
I want thaaat ;B
soundquality is really bad :/
must be your shit speakers
Strats sounds so thin !
Are you that junkie from Vice?
anyone want to sell theirs? haha
Best demo on dual , series mode, everything else out there not helpful.
strat is the worst guitar to test a delay
I agree. its too trebly or twangy
Lol, the dotted 8th sound was created by a Strat!!!!
Well that was sure not the case for David Gilmour and that is all he played with shit loads of delays on Pink Floyd albums for the past 40 years.
Why?!
I literally laughed out loud at this silly comment..Ever heard of David Gilmour?
terror voice why do you speak in that way!!!
