Short, concise and to the point.
Great ideas and techniques. Well played and inspiring. Subbed.
I get a 404 😔
Link is dead
Cool delay rundown, Rhett. That intro, however, was truly something. You should absolutely continue combining your music and/or demonstrations with those visuals. You clearly have a knack for it.
Grand Moff Tarkin I second that
Yes! I was thinking the same
+ 1! :-)
Seriously awesome intro. What camera were you using for those close up guitar shots? Depth of field, angle, color, all so beautiful. Really nice work.
Rhett Shull has the very best taste in playing hauntingly ethereal guitar licks. The intro to this video is just one more example.
Really enjoy the casual approach you have to your videos. They are very easy to watch and listen to. And you of course have great content. Keep up the good work man!
Rhett, finally someone share how he is using delays. Thanks! I love this personal, practical tips how "pros" using their gear... especially for live shows. I would be happy for the same video but with reverb. Thanks man :)
Thanks man, the reverb one is on the list!
@@RhettShull Think he means do a whole video on Reverb
Ahhhh what a video!! I have recently purchased a timeline and this is the first actually helpful timeline tutorial I have found. Loved your stacking gain pedals video too. Keep up the great work!!! Subscribed :)
First video of yours I've seen, not even halfway through it, and I'm subscribing. I appreciate the way you break down what's going on and explain its place in the sound.
great stuff Rhett. Thanks so much for the in depth tutorial. I am really impressed with the Timeline and cannot wait to purchase one! Look forward to more videos.
It's about time you played something for us! I was starting to think you were just a collector. 🤣 Thanks for the sweet tones! Vince
I must say, the intro songs you put together for these videos, are absolutely amazing. I have no doubt you could easily and quickly create generic, by the numbers jams which would sound just fine. That you don't do this, choosing to put some creative effort out instead, makes these compositions that much cooler. They're interesting, unique and definitely sound amazing.... Style for days! Much appreciated!
That was great Rhett! Some really cool techniques there :) Keep it coming!
Great video! You reinforced some my old believes (many of which took years to understand) - and taught me several new things. Look forward to giving my Timeline a work out. You have a new fan!
Love these vids that you do! Although I've been playing acoustic since the 70's, I'm new to electric starting a couple of years ago. Learning the basics and the nuances of pedals can be overwhelming. Your clarity and straightforward approach is refreshing. (I found you from the recent video you did with Tim Pierce. I'm glad I did!)
Excellent video. Knew most of these tricks, but great to show exactly WHERE these particular applications are best sewn into the sound.
Luv how subtle delay and reverb can be added to parts that bring in that earthy ambience effect adding depth setting the mood for the track!!
Thanx as always for the insight!!
The best intro on you tube ever... I though it was an advertising in the beggining.... WoW!!! Great Job Rhett! Congratulations!
Loved this. Thx. I like when you show how you dialed up the effects. I am new to the strymon world and it has so much to offer. You give a little insight into what each know does etc. Thx
That 1st off the hook effect with adjusting the delay with knobs great! Brought back some memories of my early playing days using my pedals to the extreme. Achieving a Thermin effect of sorts. You were getting close to intro to Welcome To The Machine
Top shelf stuff Rhett 🙌
Discovered your channel yesterday and subscribed. You're at 7.5 K subscribers right now. I'm gonna sit back and watch you hit a million soon...
Great tutorial Rhett! 👍🙂
I have waited for a video like this. That intro alone! Thanks!
That intro was killer!
That was amazing! Great delay tips and love the intro song Rhett!😎👍🏼
OMG. I love this so much, Rhett. Late to the party - but this was posted a day before my 49th bday. Hello from Mississippi and Happy New Year!
I think that I watched and LISTENED this intro 20 times today!!!!! It's really AMAZING
Man, your tips are amazing!
I've surfed arround your almost ALL vídeos in your Channel and learn a Lot! Thanks!!!Greetings from Brazil!
Great post ... some really helpful tips, and some really crazy entertaining sounds at the end. Thank you.
An epic and inspiring intro...cool as usual Rhett's stuff
I norally don't watch or follows "guitar vlogs" or what you call it, but you have so much good stuff I can't help but susbcribe and dive into your videos. You are amazing!
Great video! Keep up the good work Rhett!
Wow. I watched this before I got the Strymon and it was overwhelming. Now that I've had it for about a month now this is extremely useful. Thanks.
Sick intro! Love the stuff
So much GREAT information in this video. Thank you Rhett
Rhett you're amazing man! Have seen many channels on YT but you really stand out among others!! Here you have a new subscriber🤘😎
Thanks Aaron!
Thanks Rhett, great stuff, I'll be trying some of these for sure!
Thank you, Rhett. Very nice lesson. Am jacking up my delay & rev right now to try some of this.
That's key to what the Edge does. He uses delays and reverbs to add "character to simple parts". Does it brilliantly.
Just like to let you know that I think that these reviews are very VERY well put together. Good stuff.
Man, that intro was top notch!!! Thank you so much for this video!
Glad I found this. Although you can use "any delay", I just acquired a Timeline and wondered if I should keep it. Seemed overwhelming. Now, I'm determined to dig in and create the presets that first, give me these "tricks" (which are mostly sounds we all know and love) then create some of my own. Beats the hell out of getting beat up on forums! Thanks.
Cool stuff Rhett!! Now I'm convinced I don't need a chorus pedal on a pedalboard with a delay!!The reverse delay thingy is also SICK!!!!Keep it up bro!!!
Holy Shamolee, THAT’s what I call an intro!!! Wow!!!! Subscribed immediately and am hooked! Keep up your amazing work! Love and light from sunny Khao Lak in Thailand 🇹🇭 ❤️🏖☀️
Thanks again for the video. Great ressource I'm coming back to from time to time.
Thanks Rhett for the video, some great ideas for the woodshed and the Timeline. Let me add to some of the others a Big Sky video would be greatly appreciated. Nice work!
this video is INSANE! thank you for making it. the end could be an advertisement for strymon timeline pedals. cheers dude!
Man, this is gold right here. Thanks!
Oh shit. Bro that intro is a banger. Have you ever tried making into a full song? What a fucking song, mindblowing stuff
Superb, Rhett! Being a delay-instead-of-reverb player, this is right up my alley. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings to you man!
Dude what a mad intro to this vid!! Nice
wow, this is the first day i get in to your channel. at first is when you are in the NAMM 2019. i lucky to find your channel. because i always find something like this. delay and reverb, oh man.. that is cool thing and i must learn somuch to use it. thank you somuch. this is really help me. even i do not use and have strymon delay and reverb. and by the way that is cool guitar man. thanks a lot for inspiring me. god bless you
I loved that intro - into the desert! Took me back to the first time I heard Joshua Tree U2 - just awesome! Rhett rocks! Rhett's red rocks ;)
BRO THANK YOU!!! wow I just bought one and have been so stumped with the many features but this video helped me a bunch.
Absolutely fantastic!!!! Love it! thanks!
when i used to play live a lot with my band, i was really into the chaotic delay thing , i still am, but it broke my heart when in a deep space trip on stage i heard someone from the audiance scream at his friends "gosh that band sucks it's horrible" ! now it makes me laugh because it was almost ten years ago, but i've been echo blocked live !
Absolutely awesome intro footage !
Thats was epic man!! Thanks for the tips and tricks.🙌
Awesome video man. Also a very good video for the Strymon Timeline.
Tanks man. Your videos always inspire.
If you've listened to Rhett's guitar playing over the past few years you know he has no real reason to use any kind of effect pedal. He is that good. I, on the other hand, need all the pedal tricks I can get. So Thanks for the great video, Rhett.
Gave me a great idea for a song I’m tracking in the studio. Love it bro.
Thanks for some great tips. Clear, to the point, well explained.
I'm in love with the woodgrain on that guitar
Hey Rhett! It would cool if you did a tutorial video on how to record a backing track from A to Z. Great stuff as always!
that reverse delay tricks is awesome!
Dude this is amazing! I have the strymon Timeline and Mobius but no one has really gone into depth of what you can do and why like you have. If you could do more videos on pedals like this and effect combinations ill subscribe!
Black midi pedal!!!! Can’t waits tills I gets mines! Great vid Rhett especially the end! Never gets old! 😂👌
Wow !! I'm starting to learn to play lead guitar a cool guide from you is a big help for me bro I really like those delay sounds of your's thanks for this ! new subs from here .
Best video yet! Really helpful. Thanks Rhett
Youre welcome Jordon!
thanks, I think I needed that, and it got some laughs too- always a good thing!
Great rundown! Lots of P&W guys could stand to use this type of variation! I am definitely one of them, lol. Well done!
Love the use of reverse delay, nice tip
Great video man! I subbed instantly
Great video, mate, keep it up!
As I used to say "who needs drugs"? I haven't played hardly any in the past 30 years but I'm starting to get the fever to jam again. That was neat, thanks.
Very nice video and very clever idea for a series. I have a suggestion: many people don't exactly know when and how to use different pickups combinations, especially on a Strat (but also in every other electric guitar). A video where you explain the most common uses AND your personal kind of uses in every position of the selector would be nice.
Very good job! Great video and great tone!
Rhett: You, sir, are a true tonesmith indeed. EXCELLENT video and yeah - subbed. True, here you are using two of the "best" delay and reverb pedals around [awesome board, BTW], but all the same, very much appreciate your comments on how to achieve similar effects for those Strymon-challenged folks out here. Great video and audio production values as well. Keep it up Rhett - I suspect your subs base will increase quickly!
PS: Love to hear your thoughts on modern MFX units a la Fractal AX8, Helix / LT, Boss GT1000, etc...and how they may also be used to create interesting tonescapes. Yes, more "programming" work, but for me those radically different patches immediately available is really compelling.
cheers!
EDIT: Ah! Just peeked at your vids list. So you have covered the Kemper already. Nice. How about those I mentioned? On the list? :)
Keep it up bruh! That was insane!!!
What a perfect tutorial.. Great goin Rhett
Very cool stuff, man!
Thanks Rhett..... thanks for making this video........ it's really helpful........
Your videos are so freaking good!! You’re my favorite you tuber man
Thanks!!
It's soooo easy, to fool with the sound!!!! I love this kinda party. I'm using a Grand Canyon, lots of similar toys to play with.
the last one is mindblowing :)
Cool Video. The tape setting and the 5th tip is the essence of the solo in Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin. cool to see it recreated with a digital petting
Loved the last delay 'trick'. Man, that was cosmic! LOL
Great tips! 12:30 and 13:30 parts are essentially what Tom Scholz of Boston is doing on his famous 'hyperspace pedal' sound effect machine...only his is on an old analog Echoplex tape echo and of course, super modified.
That was cool, man! The chorus thing is really nice. I've got this extra bheringer delay pedal but no chorus pedal, so I might get some use out of that thing once more!
Dude that was awesome, thanks!!!
This was an awesome video! Very informative and awesome effects. The end trick kinda sounded like the intro to "Megalomaniac" by Incubus! 😆 great video man!
Great tutorial, I really learned something! Well done.
Great tips i can actually use right away! Thanks!
Awesome demo! Subscribed!
We need a full version of that intro. Excellent post rock
What a sweet opening tune- The Edge is jealous.
Thanks Man! You are awesome!!
hey rhett thank you so much.. for these tips and tricks :)
Those are very great tips.. Specially the reverse delay one.. gona try some stuff to fill parts on the songs on the band I play! Thanks a lot.. and just subscribed ;)
You have some super cool intro music but this may be my favorite. Awesome drone footage as well.
The first 5 minutes was “how to play at a church” haha
so true
Hah! For real!
Right? I play at church, but I don't play like that lol too cliche
I really don't know how it is in the States, but if here in Italy music in church was like that I could (a little) be more fond to churches 🤣
@@PTosetti Some churches here do a great job at this sound and some do a poor knockoff of the sound, it gets pretty silly sometimes haha
