2022 and we still can’t replicate a Phase90 digitally.
The closer approx is line6 helix mod script phase.
- Boss CE-1 sounds nice, nostalgic, vintage and still actual ...
- Strymon Mobius: Nice flanger, sounds "tight" I don't know but I like it with the distortion; overrall I preferred the Eventide H9.
- tc Electronic (MODu): nice!
- EHx Electronic Mistress: nice, classic.
- Eventide sounds niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice but I don't like too much have to tweak pedals by apps... I don't know if I can have all the options just in the H9 'cause I never even saw one in real life...
I don't like Phaser so... great video.
Excellent video. I arrived here because I’m not satisfied with my H9 modulation. Confirmed here as to why: high end is more shrill and overall tone seems boxed in more with the digital pedals. YMMV. This should be the gold standard for a seasoned pro who doesn’t need any explanation about these effects. It wouldn’t be difficult to cut in some voice over for beginners who want to understand what the differences in modulation effects are. Thank you! Subscribed.
I don't see a real victor here. These are all beyond excellent. For sheer versatility, maybe Eventide, but Strymon sometimes sounded better. I don't know.
For live performance the old analog pedals sound better and you have knobs for quick adjustments. For studio, all these digital effects are free with any DAW….so…
Excellent video, sir. If everyone adhered to these standards RUclips would not be such a minefield.
Rotosphere, TC SCF, CE-1 and Mobius sound great!
Perfect video comparison. Excellent playing for your purpose and in general!!
TC was my least favorite over all. H9 does so much very well but didn’t sound as nice with od. I love strymon pedals but Mobius sounded dull here. I miss my rotosphere but too big and heavy for how little I used it. But man what a sound in stereo!!!
Analogs are the reference, they SHOULD sound better, and they do. As an overall modulation package, for me the Mobius is unbeatable. The H9 becomes interesting if one needs the other effects as well, in a small footprint. But the H9 modulations (though very good) to me don't sound better then the Strymon. In a practical situation the analogs are viable if you use 2 or 3 max, each one in the same way IMHO.
Nothing can beat an analog flanger
Strymon rotary algorithm is excellent
Is that the "Dedicato a te" ( from the band Le Vibrazioni) riff on 08:11?
All pedals sound amazing. I rate the h9 over Mobius. Although the Mobius was better for the rotary sound.
Amazing video! What jack cables did you use in the video? What brand is that?
They're probably Mogami cables with neutrik connectors.
Surprised at how badly the H9 compared. Thought its Leslie was good…but really nothing else. Mobius sounded really great.
Hello how are you? I intend to buy Mobius or Nebulus Strymon. Which one do you think is better?
The pedals bury the mobius and H9 by a landslide.
They just do. The 'metallic' sound of the Mobius and H9 ruin it for me. The pedals are just so much fuller, smoother and, dare I say it, 'organic' to my ears. Absolutley brilliant video, with seemless changes, the best for comparison.
H9 The best
Hard to beat the Mobius overall. The H9 sounds horrible to me.
5:57 6:45 7:09
Here is the bottom line.
When it comes to the digital pedals the Strymon destroys the Eventide. Strymon are kings of modern pedals.
That said, when the guitars are CLEAN the Strymon comes closer to emulating the real thing on the Chorus D Bucket, not as much on Phaser and especially Mistress flange. The real kicker and why modulation is best analog is when you incorporate distortion. The Mobius just responds harshly. The distortion with the Mistress and Phase 90 is perfect, classic. The frequency is very pleasing. Not with Mobius. That said, Mobius is way better and closer than any digital pedal.
I do feel Strymons biggest strengths are in Delay and Reverb and The DECO is killer. Modulation that is gonna be mixed with distortion or driven hard just responds and sounds better analog.
Hello how are you? I intend to buy Mobius or Nebulus Strymon. Which one do you think is better?
True no modeler can do electric mistress flanger. I go with Audiority Electric matter its by far the best emulation.
Go analog !
it doesnt get better than the CE1 chorus
If you believe digital sounds better than analog then by all means have at it but you should have your ears examined.
Eventide sounded far worse than the others. Its phaser algorithm in particular sounds like a toy.
Eventide FX were not very deep or rich sounding for some reason
Both eventide and mobius cannot compete with line6 in modulation. Line6 has more mature algorithm in phase90 and VB2
All eventide effects sounded thin to me. I have a h90 but not statisfied with the sound, but I use it just for the dual effects and midi capability
