- How to install a TRD PRO Grille on the Toyota Tacoma. This is for 2020 - 2023 Toyota Tacoma's with the front distance sensor. I do not have a front camera on this Tacoma so that is one step I am missing. My truck is a 2021, but this should help anyone trying to do this.

Thank you for solving my "did they forget my screws" questions
hell yeah bro I just got a Voodoo Blue 2021 TRD Off-Road a couple weeks ago and ordered a pro grille for it, can't wait to install it!
Such a nice improvement. Looks awesome 👌👌
Thank you good sir!!
Saw this video and ordered the same grill from tacotroop. Install was easy peezy thanks to this video.
I just ordered one from tacotroop. Any issues with the TSS sensor producing any warning lights?
Just stumbled across your channel 30 min min ago and im 3 videos in, great channel
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying it
Thanks for the video. I am installing mine tomorrow once the garnish gets here.
Great Video - thank you. I was hesitant to do this on my 22 TRD SPORT but after watching this I am going to go for it. I will be ordering this weekend. thank you !!
Glad it was able to help! Make sure you get into the giveaway, maybe you won't have to buy one!
How much are they what's the part number
Great video as always ❤
Thank you!
Thanks for the info ..great job 👍
Perfect video! Thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you.
Nice install and looks great
Thanks!
Nice job dude.
Excellent video! Thank you!
Other than the garnish not matching, it looks great!
The Pro Grill at Taco Garage is definitely worth looking at!!!
Yeah, that really breaks it for me... I was wondering if you could just put something black in between the mount plate and the grill to mask the sensor and keep the actual piece in.
@@aasofjg1511 I installed the pro grill from Taco Garage. The radar garnish is disappointing, but i absolutely love it. I firmly believe it may be the best aftermarket pro grill available.
I’d do it again.
The reason the garnish is smooth and glossy on the Toyota OEM and aftermarket garnish is to help keep them clean and make them easier to clean when they do need to be cleaned. You can use a quality cleaner like Plexus or Novus that will make them easier to clean when they get dirty or bugs spattered on them.
Great video just put the same grill on my voodoo blue taco too
Looks great 👍
Which one did you buy ?
Great video! Super informative and makes me think I can do this without destroying my brand new truck! :)
Thank you! Good luck!
Getting a new Tacoma soon and plan on doing this, how did it go?
A tip for installing the garnish cover is to take the slip lock washer nuts and a pair of needle nose pliers and bend each one of the tabs up just a little bit, the slip lock washer nuts will still fit properly but will allow you to slide them on all the way on to the tabs and they will still bite into the plastic post keep them from coming off. It is important to fully seat the garnish cover which means you will have to push on the upper corners to push the plastic posts all the way into the inside of the grille and fully seat the slop lock washer nuts. The garnish cover is not supposed to sit even with the grille cut outs, the top is supposed to be angled back and when fully seated does angle back at the top of the garnish cover. I think the majority of those who have sensor errors after installing the TRD Pro grille and garnish is because they did not fully seat the garnish cover, this can effect the sensor reading as the wind pressure causes the garnish cover to move/vibrate while driving which can interfere with the radar frequency resulting in the error code saying you need to clean your cover.
Thank you. After 30 min of trying one side I saw this and had it on within 2 minutes
do you need the garnish cover at all i bought a grille from tacoma lifestyle and it’s just the grille
It does look good but I prefer the OEM grill primarily because the sensor cover on the Pro grill really sticks out whereas the cover on the OEM grill just looks like a Toyota badge.,
Great video, like the grill, it looks like there is a slot for the sensor wire clip at 8:49 it's just below the second O of TOYTA, might help keep the wires from being stressed from wind. I enjoy your mod vids, keep up the good work!
Thanks! I'll have to take another look at it when I take it back out. Going to be painting the Toyota letters
@@ModernDayViking what color you painting the letters?
@@sullivan9191 I'm going to be doing gold/bronze to match my wheels
Thanks for the Install video as I will be replacing this pro grill on my 23 Taco TRD Off Road!
Looks good, but the stock grille has grown on me. I think i like it better.
Thank you good sir! Haha
Is there a video like this with the front facing camera install?
Bro i have been trying on these pins for 2 hours, how did yall do it, im about to break this shit
My 2023 also has a camera in the front , where do you leave that in the grill ?
Much better
Right!!
Anyone know if the sensor garnish is required, I just realized the one I ordered didn’t come with one but it has a harness for it
Is it the same thing for sr5 2019 ?
Did you have to Recalibrate your Radar since its a lot lower ?
Just ordered from tacoma troop and got the grill in today but it didn't come with the letters or the tss guard. Anyone know if they do this alot or if i got unlucky?
Does this affect the sensor?
Just installed a similar grill anyone nervous about those TSS sensor tabs just popping off?
Buddy, where do you buy and how much you pay for that
Where do you buy exactly?
The headlights are the trd pro OEM?
They are a factory upgrade from Toyota. It's the LED light package.
Great video. I, for one, appreciate the fact that you don't come across as some know-it-all mechanic type of guy. I'm not a fan of the TRD Pro Grill simply because everyone does it. I actually downgraded my 2017 TRD OffRoad grill to the standard SR5 and went with the Model T emblem from Diaz Fabrication.
Glad you enjoyed it! I am far from a mechanic haha
Where did you buy this grille and did you have to recalibrate it?
no recalibration required if the install is performed correctly. (recalibration is a dealership gimmick)
Have any problems popped up with that front sensor?
Nope still all good!
Do you really need to add that sensor plate?
I ordered from the site u linked and they never sent my order 😡
That's weird they are typically very good at getting orders out
Did you contact them?
Yes multiple times and they haven’t replied
@@gioenriquez6667 guess I will have to remove the Link.
@@ModernDayViking they finally sent it so u can leave the link!
Those puch tabs aound the grill are a bi@@@
"gotta remove that, Im gonna go ahead and do it" *Doesnt show how to remove the thing*. 🙄🙄🙄
I’m sorry. I’m not a believer in swapping grills. IMHO, it only makes you look like a “wanna be” but isn’t…. Anytime I see a yota with a “TRD Pro” grill, then see its only a TRD sport..or something else… I’m like ohh, thats just another wanna be…. Or a F150 with a raptor grill, Makes it look cheap. Reminds me of being a kid and seeing someone put Skyline on their huffy… If you want a TRD Pro, buy a TRD Pro.
Meh I disagree, I would agree with you if I swapped my logos but it's just a grille. It's not even a TRD PRO grille. It's actually a Toyota heritage grille and is a dealer option if you order a truck on any model. The TRD PRO just has it standard.
No one cares lol
Sounds like someone is not happy they paid so much money for a TRD Pro and now my little old Tacoma SR with the 2.7 four cylinder 4x4 has a TRD Pro grille for half the price.
You know what everyone says about opinions....everyone has one, and usually they stink. Enjoy your Jeep!!
What about the front camera, my truck has one, and I heard changing the grill u need to take it the dealership to get the censor recalibrate?
Does the front camera works ? I do have a 2023 trd sport one
