This is literally my 1003 time hearing it! i listen at least 10 times a night! My favorite singer ever, favorite song ever...cry every time.
Same!
I'm surprised you're actually counting. I lost count long time ago lol
@@Gary4DLC lol, me too! super super awesome singing for sure! i've watched a ton of these review vids and everyone is so amazed with his voice and vocal range (myself included). even after seeing/hearing this song a bazillion times, i still get chills and goosebumps on those high and gritty notes!
This is oddly specific
Me too! Lol
David's voice is amazing it's like God asked him, "Do you want the voice of an angel or a demon?" and David replied..."YES"
yeah, he just chose both))
Good reaction. You just witnessed a Master piece. Enjoy this kind of Strong powerful music. Once in a lifetime.
I may be flamed here, and I love the original Simon and Garfunkel song but... IMHO, this one is BETTER than the original... it brings me emotions that the original couldn't... Great reaction!
He had the flu during this too, he was mad that they autotuned one of his notes iirc
@@bninem1397 I heard about it! This is an usual practice in these TV shows... I'm not fan of it either.
I agree 100% with you. I grew up hearing the original and it doesn't really express the gravity of the lyrics. This is gorgeous.
I agree
No flames here, you are absolutely correct. Disturbed has a done a great job finding songs that are in need of some righteous anger and adding it. They did it with Land of Confusion and perfected it here.
57 years old peace of art picked up by a genius band with a great singer like david creates emotion still today.....props to Paul Simon
This, for me, is the best cover ever done of this song. The original seemed like a warning, this one seems like" LOOKS WHAT YOU MANIACS HAVE DONE!?!" And David brings suck gravitas to an, already, beautiful song!
I have heard this song hundreds of times and I never tire of hearing him sing it. He takes you on a journey with spiritual undertones. Amazing. It often makes me cry. I loved your reaction. I cried when you cried. Thank you for the honest reaction.
Love your reaction!!
Love you!!
One of the best live performances in music history.
Peace....
When you say will never get tired of it that is very true. In the past six months I have probably listen to it 600 times And there is no exaggeration and I still am not tired of it. Divorced the music everything is perfect for this song and I’ve never heard a better voice
Beautifully worded!
I hear you. I've been down "this rabbit hole" for months. I dont usually have obsessive tendencies but this song, his voice....mesmerizing.
You feel a bit of being scolded when David starts singing with the rasp, about creating another God to worship. David killed it with this Cover, absolutely masterful!
Yup... the "neon god" refers to television. The old tube TV's we had back when this song was written were filled with neon gas.
@Mr.Ekshin it represents all media, including Comercialism. Neon signs were popular back then for advertising stores.
I understand you.
I also cried the first time I heard this song. You feel it in your ears, then in your heart and at the climax it touches your soul. ✨❤️
"I don't know how to explain" ... That's because you were expecting to just listen to a song. You weren't expecting a visceral experience that touches so deeply. You don't just hear this, you feel it.
This performance is a religious experience
@@Warhawk76 Well said !
The lead singer was sick this night too and still sounded great
This mans body is a cathedral of sound...
Someone said, "the original was meant as a warning, while this one is meant as a judgement." Some fifty (50) years after this was written it feels relevant and timely. With our political chasm and our false gods (like internet sensations, reality show stars or political leaders etc.) It seems we all make our own Gods these days. And just look at how prophetic the line, we talk without speaking, (it's the very definition of texting.) Hell, we are all so busy coming up with a counter argument to someone else's view, we truly do hear without listening. And because we don't listen it's like a cancer growing. Powerful lyrics and an incredible retelling which touches us all across age, race and creed. Which in today's world is truly epic!
the crazy thing is he was actually sick during this!
One of the best things .. he had a fever and the flu when he did this and still owned it
@@bradmcgregor5794He wasn't sick, he had a lesion on one of his his vocal cords. Which is worse. He didn't have the flu or a fever.
I’ve never seen a singer positioned next to a timpani drum on stage.....speaks to the power of his voice.
I'm not a fan of drums, but this timpani player is right on..fits the song perfectly
That’s a very good and interesting point!
Yes, he is Disturb's own drummer and he and David have played this on stage often enough to be in perfect sinch'.
Yes Mike Wengren is pretty amazing. He is the drummer/percussionist of Disturbed
The best description of his voice that I've seen/heard is: God asked if he wanted the voice of an angel or a demon. David merely said "yes".
Exactly hahahahah 😂👍👍
Yess!! That is exactly what I've posted on other reaction videos to this song!!
Oooh someone’s seen SoFie Reacts take on this 🙂👍🏻
This is how to react to a video! No interruptions! No pauses! I feel like it allows all the beauty and emotion to build, unimpeded by all the stops, and talking…
Bravo!
Beautiful reaction!
🦋Lily🦋
The first time and multiple times after I was overcome with emotion because of this song. I’m not really super emotional of a guy and this song just triggered something.
There is some autotune put in there by the Conan people, and let's just say David D was not happy about it.
Check out the studio version video. Lot's of symbolism there. The song is only slightly different. Still powerful.
I had the same reaction you did.
Maybe to correct some moments of voice slipping due to his sickness at the time..? Cuz if that's the case, they missed a few spots lol
The original was a warning this is the anger in all of us for not hearing
You have discovered... The sound of Silence :)
Yes....but even more so...I have discovered the gift of silence.
And David was sick during this performance...amazing!
Yep.... he had the flu.....
David Draiman....one of the best male vocalists ever! ....imho. Can go from clear and sweet to powerful and rasp and back! ...he has always amazed me with his talent!
"I feel closer to the divine"
That is because David Draiman's voice is both angelic and demonic at the same time. It is not something humans can easily comprehend.
Simon and Garfunkel wrote this song!!
Disturbed know owns this song!!
Exactly what Paul Simon said of it.
Great reaction ,show you have a good soul with a warm Heart, you can look the official Video to this Song it will touch your Soul in a incredible kind
The end of this song is an absolutely phenomenal piece of of work! going from the gruff of tenement, and softening the halls, part, is just an orgasm for my ears.
Your Soul was touched........ Its a very strong Warning from God in that song to ALL OF US.........David's heart brings emotion to every word.....Beautiful...
Seeing you moved to tears touched me deeply. I am moved every time I hear this song and I love to witness other people experiencing this performance for the first time. It is a deeply moving experience. It stirs something in us that can only be described as touching the devine. Thank you for sharing your reaction with us. ❤
Don’t worry every time I hear it I still get goosebumps
I've been listening to coaches/singers react for, like, 3 hours, and I still get misty every time.
My little lady ❤️
Growing up listening to the original version as a young man and now having more days behind me then ahead of me I can say with absolutely know problem that this cover is what this beautiful song was intended to sound like❤️ I thank you for sharing your little journey with me❤️🌎❤️
Steph, as always a gorgeous reaction from an extremely gorgeous young lady in waiting.
This was written by Simon&Garfunkle when they were just launching their careers and when they were still idealistic.
I see it as their take on the state of affairs of the world in the sixties, including the music industry turning into something, not at all like they had imagined it to be.
This was their attempt at reaching out to a corrupt world getting worse by the decade and an attempt by their perceived Creator of calling us to attention of that evil, and our silence to the atrocities surrounding us, and an acceptance of darkness, as an old friend, basically saying that he'd won!
And now looking back and coming forward to the here and now, with all the fraud, media misinformation, the dumbing down of our school children and young adults, the utter and contemptable way in which our government ignores our rights while allowing wrong doers to run amok. There's no telling as to how much their age old warning simply has fallen on deaf ears!
I love your reaction however I am curious to know why you edited it? We could see the tears of emotion when you first begin your reaction and then it cut and came back. There was no need to hide the tears that song in that performance is so powerful it would move any normal person to tears and we want to experience that with you.
It's ok.. I get choked up and I've listened to this song at least 100 times. His ability to make you feel the message is unsurpassed. Such a talent....!!
I've seen quite a few reactions to this wonderful cover and yours is the nearest to mine so...sub'd.😊
Wnat deep voice? Listen to Home Free singing "Man of Constant Sorrow"
That....is absolute perfection. I love watching people fall in love with David Draiman's voice.
Your reaction at the end is why we listen to music. For that feeling!
Good on you - out of all the reaction videos of this performance I've seen, yours is the only one to pay proper respect and actually listen to the song and not interrupt repeatedly with a bunch of self-absorbed blather. This is an exceptional performance and deserves to be heard first of all, and you did that. 👍
Great, honest reaction ❤️
You listen to Simon and Garfunkel
You feel David Draiman
I was also moved to tears by this performance, not only the first time hearing it, but EVERY time! You're right, this is something you will never tire of. ❤️🙏
Excellent reaction, some other songs from Disturbed u may enjoy, If I ever lose my faith in you and Hold onto memories.
I love watching people's first reaction to this! It's like I'm hearing it for the first time again too. David is an incredible artist and SO HOT.
You're honest and heartfelt reaction is in and of itself worth watching music and word should move people such as it moved you.
Ahhhhhhhhh aí sim!!!!! Te aconselho outra música maravilhosa: Zombie - Bad Wolves !!!! Música muito emotiva!!!!

Gostaria muito que reagisse !!!
Up!!!
If you want to hear a great vocalist, try Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton live from Austin Texas. It’s country, but wow!!
I honestly can't think of a better song ever performed. This performance brings out tears in me every time I watch it.
Not many singers that can make you feel what hes singing hes got a gift
eu so me emocionei assim de novo com a LiSA - homura / THE FIRST TAKE da pra sentir a musica em um nivel q chega ser inexplicável
please react kiran & Nivi - Overwhelmed ruclips.net/video/sKK9O-3JsvQ/видео.html. they so amazing
I've heard this 1000 times and I just cried again 😂
That was every human emotion experienced by human kind by the greatest voice from GOD himself. I love Dave's voice so much!!
i would never show it, but you reaction is how I feel. thanks
Closer to the divine. PERFECTLY SAID.
Beautiful reaction, Steph. I loved when you said at the end of the video, "Guys, Guys, Guys, what was that". That was awesome. Beautiful reaction. I loved it. :)
Exactly… the Divine power comes through his voice, that of an Angelic messenger 💖🌎🎼🕊️
S&G sang to warn the audience about what COULD happen. David sang because of what has ALREADY happened. He has already passed judgement, and is now PRONOUNCING SENTENCE. It is appropriate to display RAGE while pronouncing sentence, but his rage is limited to the level that is correct for the level of offence that the audience (all of us watching this) has committed.
My other favorite is the official video for this version. I also love MetallicA anything basically especially "Master of puppets", "Sanitarium ", and "Nothing else matters".
Please watch Deep Purple Child in Time live 1970...epic 8 min reaction vid, enjoy! :)
105 million and counting 😊
If you like good music.
I would suggest
Chris Stapleton
Tennessee Whiskey
Austin city limits performance
And Some Times I Cry
Bing lounge
Listen to Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman the song is Time to say goodbye. After that, watch Marcelito Pomoy do the same song. Time to say goodbye. You'll be amazed!
You have to approach the two versions as two different songs: Simon and Garfunkel version is a resigned, melancholy lament, Disturbed version is a call to action, the anthem for a revolution!
This song was written as a warning to humanity. It couldn’t be more relevant today. Great review.
I wonder what your reaction would be to Decadence sung by Disturbed... same singer doing his "normal" music...
You should hear the Disturbed cover of ‘Land Of Confusion’, originally from Genesis.
David was very sick during this performance. Flu, high temp, sore throat etc.. He is also a classically trained Jewish Cantor.
Other songs that will give such an emotional response, I would suggest 5 Finger Death Punch. Wrong Side Of Heaven, or Gone Away! Redgum I Was Only 19 is another great song!
I've been singing their songs since I was 12, but I had voice training in high school. I'am 35 and can still match him 😘. You are absolutely beautiful 😘. I love your shirt 😘. You are still absolutely beautiful 😘😍❤.
I've never heard this before ... but my god !!! Awesome, another song that will move you is "love hurts" by Nazareth check it out
I recommended a few disturbed songs already, and if you want do really dive into Metal music, check out Metallica. The lyric videos are a good idea. “One”, “fade to black”, “creeping death live in Moscow 1991”
I am obsessed with this cover. Goose bumps and teary eyes every single time. This band put their heart and soul into honoring the original song
I've been singing their songs since I was 12, but I had voice training in high school. I'am 35 now and still can match him 😘. You are absolutely beautiful 😘😍❤.
Sabaton please, given your brazilian nature perhaps cobra's fumanches
Talking of being touched by the Divine, I do urge you to check out Pentatonix version of Hallelujah. You will be blown away.
Not many humans making music like this anymore because everything is computer generated instead of using real musicians, WHICH IS WHAT THIS SONG IS ALL ABOUT. Music today is all murder death kill instead of legitimate caring about the masses. Don't get me wrong I am all about Tech Ni9e, Ritzz and Eminem, but this song by Disturbed is a show of anger that we did not listen to Simon and Garfunkel's serene warning and now look at us... Very few "artists" possess the ability to write music let alone read it. There are fewer instruments being played by skilled musicians and everyone has a computer assist their voice. The end shows the ark of musicians trying to reach the writers of music after everything went to shit in the industry. David sang this live while sick with the flu and a fever and Paul Simon is said to have uploaded it on his pwrsonal feed stating it was now their song... BTW... Tears cleanse the soul. I am an old man and still shed tears of wonder when I hear this.. After tearing up listening to the original live as a teen! God Bless!
The True meaning...Back in the 60's...was a time of War, Discrimination, Racism, blatant fundamental Civil Rights worthlessness far worse than today. One could NOT speak out without major consequences (like being threatened of your life for speaking out.) Comedians could get away with it in sarcasm, and through music, the "messages" could not be stopped...In that time communication was very bleak with only fuzzy radio, and fuzzy tv...that's it...So when musicians (Bands) became very popular/famous and millions would hear...They became powerful and a serious threat as influential to the masses to change, by demanding equality, freedom, revealing hypocritical religions (neon God they made) etc...The population always knew music's truth...but remained silent out of fear, of retaliation, disfranchisement, so no one dared (other than fans stereotyped as hippies and Blacks that did protest and riot against the establishment for change)...Musicians (bands) were always broken up due to their mass influence, through suspected mysterious ways, from death of a featured performer, to plane crashes, overdoses etc..by breaking them up in ways equal to that of "looking like an accident"...The biggest protest amongst humanity, (in that time mind you) was the technology of people talking without speaking, and hearing without listening (the seeds planted as you slept...but one's eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light that split the night...(and your life)... removing the true sounds of silence, considered free will...People were sent to nut farms and destroyed for voicing aloud of so...Although it does fit differently today with texting...The writing on subway walls was like tenement halls in that time, it was very much like bumper stickers, or hallmark sayings...with lots of WISDOM and common sense that came from the poor and oppressed and was their only way to speak out truths in protest...In spite to stop the messages of truth in war through music...it will always survive to carry its messages that remain and echo in the wells of silence... see the official version...
I've heard thins version like...a thousand times. I grew up with music, both my father and my mother....and my sister sang in Choirs and played a lot of instruments. It was Carl Orff and Grieg and...but this is just wonderfull!!!! :)
It’s good. A really good tribute especially considering what we heard from them before this came out.. still tho, the S&G original is the best. But it’s good
You are so pretty. Cute like Hello kitty. U love lots of japanese stuff.
And yes, the ensemble is majestic and David's voice is awesome. Love the song
Thank you very much for making this video. I think that is exactly right, how can humans make things like this? I feel that connection too when I witness something like this. That's why I love to watch the reactions of people being moved. Yours was very beautiful. Take care.
Bot bad for a metal singer huh? Lol. Before heavy metal he grew up singing opera. Amazing deep voice! ❤
Sweet Lady, your reaction to the music earned a like and subscribe from me!!!you should check out the official video for this song..amazing as well
Goosebumps and 😢. If this doesn’t get inside of you and takes you to place most don’t want to go there. This performance will probably someday and tear your heart out and the tears falling from your face will leave a puddle at your feet. Best cover and Best live performance in history. Captivating song leaving the audience just stunned that only a pin drop could be heard.
Actually Steph, they did auto-tune the performance because David had a cold or the flu. He didn't want it to be auto-tuned and was apparently under the impression the TV producers would leave his vocals as recorded. But they went back and auto-tuned him without his knowledge or consent. Whether they have released a non auto-tuned version I don't know. But this version got doctored. 😕
He wasn't feeling 100% when he went onstage for this, but he did manage to pull it off.
If you want to hear their 'best' version, look up the official music video. You'll go into it knowing they did all they could to make it sound the best they could. That said, brace yourself, if you think the song does things to your feels. The video version is a sucker punch right in the feels.
Tissues are cheap, you'll feel better after.
I sure do...
Makes people stop and listen to all 90’s alternative music for sure.. many great talents came out of that error. Check out Chris Cornell from Soundgarden or Layne Staley from Alice In Chains.. some more voices to be reckoned with.. thanks for the honest reaction.
They are famous to people who've listens to real music. Disturbed is not new anyway. Their version is probably better than the original Artist. Just my opinion.
👋 try listening to the music video. David did an even better job of expressing the meaning of the song. We have created a "golden calf " called technology and worship it like a God!!
performance was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! his voice is both beautiful and haunting...................the bass drum pounding out those double strikes shakes the body and the piano is haunting and the orchestra is perfect background for the whole song.....................and you are adorable
You are the first reacting as I did. Feeling son happy in My emotions thinking that music es a celestial gift. God gave David the power of angels in his voice. This versión is a calling from heaven saying, "hey stupid humans, that neon God You Made, Will never fill your heart or joy. músic is a celestial event that fullfills the deepest silences in our hearts in order to elevate our souls. David just did it!
Unfortunately u are using beats headphones which imo ruin the sound of the song since sony bought out dr. dre's beats company which instantly lowered certain qualities.. if they are dre headests, nice.. if they are just beats by sony.. good job following the crowd
Steph check out Disturbed "The Light" it will do the same thing to you Dave Draiman is awesome!
Just a magnificent performance! He is a trained singer and a terrific actor!
Song suggestions. Scorpions winf of change believe in love and ked zeppelin stairway to heaven
David Draiman is the singer, he is classically trained, he had the flu during that performance, if you look closely you will see him frown, he realized the producers were trying to use auto tune, but they were stopped!
He was classically trained in his younger years... There is one auto-tune part which he was pissed about when the Conan show added that to his song.... And he was sick with the flu when he sang that on Conan... So just imagine what his voice would be like when he wasn't sick. Paul Simon actually said it is now David's song as it had been reborn, and congratulated him on it
You are the first person reacting To Disturbed - The Sound of Silence I have seen so far that has a soul. You need to put your video 400ms ahead when you record to synchronize your video.
Thank you for listening to the song in it’s entirety before commenting. Also, David was ill at the time this was aired. Amazing!
Listen to Disturbed - Hold On to Memories... great voice... even better lyrics/message
