There are no words except maybe stunning that describe this. I'm a 73 year old chrome haired geezer who like many out here grew up in late 50s, 60s and the explosion of music in the 70s. We were 100% rock n rollers in our 20s, 30s and 40s. Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Stones, Doobie Brothers, Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd. We remember Simon and Garfunkel when their music hit the streets in 1965. From all that music, there has only been two covers/tributes I've heard that reach the original version or exceed it. This version of "Sound of Silence" and Nightwish with Marko Hietala singing a tribute to Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" from the End of an Era concert in 2005. Both are simply jaw dropping.

Exactly, as I am in my 70's I remember when the original came out. We hippies felt like the song spoke to the frustration of our generation. David's performance mirrors our thoughts in this generation, we don't speak to each other except through text. People "talking without speaking, hearing without listening." Your expressions translated the entire piece from the first note to the last. Ive been bing watching David Draiman since i first saw him sing this particular song several weeks ago. I closely watch each person who listen to him for the first time. With that gift he has i see how his sound affects each person who hears him. In my mind i see him vibrationally connecting with each individual and lifting and changing each and every person that listens and tunes into him as he sings. Each cell in those who hear him for the first time vibrates at a slightly higher leven, lightens each person. They sway, turn their heads back and forth in time to his sound. People's expressions, their bodies, even the energy surrounding their faces change. Its almost like they are joined in a deep journey with this man. And that he is the driver and you are along for the ride, but the ride changes you. FOR THE BETTER. It feels to me like he lifts others up. You feel the care, the love, and the honesty and he brings that out in you and you are better for it. I see those who seem to develope a sense of more understanding about the meaning of the words song by a man with a voice that is so rare. He brings out a sense of wonder in people.
