One of my all time personal favorites from Tool is called "Right in Two" and you can not listen to it without the video, there's about 100 different meanings and messages behind that song that involves the B.S. that is today's society and the way things are going, and probably headed. Story short, it starts out with a guy, makes his own world (He's God) Adam and Eve start time evolves on into what is "now" then shows the messed up future where were headed if all of the super power countries. But in the end it's deeper meaning of the video is we are all our own "god" we make our own world and depending on what we do with and to it is our own choice on how it will turn out....just watch it brother interpret it how u want cuz it can be 100 different ways but everyone can relate to the message. everything started with war and ends with war, why's it gotta be that way? peace and love my brother man 🤘❤🤘

He's one of the greatest in the context of his band. That is an important distinction. The collaborative songwriting process and the playing of Adam and Justin give him the space to do his thing. I don't like calling musicians "greatest" for this reason. There are super technical drummers like Matt Garstka and Larnell Lewis who wouldn't find Tool's music to be challenging to their skill sets, but they wouldn't be writing drum parts for Tool songs that sounded like Danny Carey, either.

Mike Portnoy along with guitarist John Petrucci started the band Drean Theater in the 80's that took two of their favorite genres, prog-rock (like Rush) and metal and turned created progressive metal. Dream Theater created prog metal and Mike Portnoy is the backbone to this genre.

Got to remember, With all instruments from all groups, they created this. Whatever group, however simple or complex in hearing the finished product, it took time to create. This is no different. People who say any song by any group is "simple," remember that the song was created, and those who play it who say it is "simple," the [person or persons created it whole-cloth. It's easy to "copy" a song, to cover it, but to create it from nothing that is perfect for whatever song.... it really is a talent. Even if the song is not liked by the listener. The reason you will see him in concerts wearing other teams unis like the Celtics in this video is because he wears the city they are playing in their most popular or legendary players uni. His technique is damn near Flawless watch his elbow level as he's playing his elbows barely move there in that same spot in the frame almost the entire song. There is zero wasted movement every movement he makes has a purpose it's insane. Which I guess is even more important when drummer up his side seduce like 6'5

This song is extra special for me and I'm sure a lot of the other diehard Tool fans. It had been 13 years since their last album and then they drop Pnuema and eventually the Fear Innoculom album(which in my opinion is their magnum opus)

Watching someone fall in love with Tool is genuinely one of my favorite things on RUclips. It should come as no surprise after watching this why they call Danny Carey “The Octopus”

Danny has a mix of acoustic and Electronic drums on his massive kit and uses every piece in ways that will leave you entranced with his polyrhythms. There is a reason he is affectionately known as the Octopus he plays like he has 8 limbs

His right hand actually DOES know what his left hand is doing...and Im not quite sure how because the rhythms are all over the place yet he keep perfect poly time with the polyrhythms...so damn impressive!!!

Another band you might like to check out is Porcupine Tree. They have another great drummer, Gavin Harrison.
Here's a link of Gavin playing the middle part of PT's song "Anesthetize" live at some drum clinic or such: ruclips.net/video/6suv3mraIhw/видео.html

Just saw this video for the first time after seeing you with "The Pot". I love your reactions to both. Thanks for the videos sir! I have to suggest "46&2" and "Jambi" though. I feel like you can vibe on both of them. Danny Carey shines on anything he does but those 2 songs he rips and I think you'll agree. Keep up the great work A!
