1982 Christian Hosoi Sims, my fav :)
Yes!!! 🙌 That Rising Sun graphic is so awesome 🤩
T-Mag or Uncle Wiggley as I like to call him, was making super cool experimental skate decks with different mediums in the early eighties epoxy, foam core, composite formulas, pretty cool stuff which apparently became the makings of early snowboards..... Your artistic side really shines through on this episode Matt, great job!!!!
Yes, we all gotta love T-Mag!!! 💯 Thanks for the kind words 🙏
My favorite old school board is a Black Label John Lucero Street Thing with the banned Hot Wheels logo on the top of the deck. I still have mine although I decorated it with a paint pen back then. Great idea and thanks for the DIY! 👊❤
Right on! John Lucero is so iconic and he's drawn some of the best graphics out there too! 👊
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood i had a purple LUCERO Red Cross.
we used comopsition noteboke covers, pelled thm back, then super glued em . trucks were matchbox airplane landing gear , or hotwheels with tooht picks .Great on a rainy day.
I love it!!! Love the diy spirit from back in the day!!! 🙌
Very good DIY video ! Thanks for sharing …. 👍
In the 80s, I used "key chain" fingerboards that I opened in half and then inserted the graphics of my favorite skateboards that I had previously cut out from magazines (same size !).
No computers at the time, so we adapted !!! 😉😅 The good old time …
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. I had a couple of those clear plastic keychain fingerboards back in the day too. Great memories 👍
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood we used plyers to remove the "keychain part" & gripped em.
love the old school boards! the water slide graphics came out really clean! Great video!!
Thanks so much. 🙏 I think I can do a little better on the waterslides next time.
Bro get that trick star put together. Let's do this haha
I hear you. I got tired of waiting for the Hutch stem, so I just got a cheap temporary one and I’ll probably be building up the bike this weekend 👍
OHHHH MY GOD!!!!! PHVKKN GENIUS!!!! mine was a 1988 purple HOSOI street hammerhead with him doing that Frontside Grab With The Rising Sun Background.
Thanks!!! That street hammerhead was so rad!!! 🙌🤩
BRO GLEAMING THE CUBE.
THAT SICK ONE WITH THE CHROME METAL GRIPTAPE AND THE BIG BLACK WHEELS!!!!!
Great idea! That would be a fun one to try and recreate!
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood that HOSOI street hammerhead YABBO was riding was the one i had but purple.
Vision Gonz and Roses, Sims Staab Scientist, G&S Blender Coffee Break, Gonz face would be awesome! Great work and vid!
Those are all awesome! 🙌 I have the Scientist, Coffee Break, and Gonz face all in the works. I need to invest is some more spray paint first, so they aren’t all the same color 🤣
Loved all my Alva boards! Great shapes!
Right on!!! They were indeed awesome boards 🙌
So incredibly ridiculously rad!!! I can't wait to get started on this, I love this idea!
Awesome! You are so amazingly creative, I know you’ll create some crazy cool stuff!!! 👊
Fred Smith III Loud One model. That graphic outsold many other pro decks when Fred was an amature on Alva.
Awesome! Yes, that’s such a classic design!!!
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood This is a fantastic episode by the way. Well done.
@@doctorseeler2643 Thanks so much for the feedback. 🙏 It was a lot of work trying to figure out how to show the process without it being a super long video. Probably more editing work than any of my previous videos, but it was a ton of fun and didn’t seem like work at the time 🤣
These turned out amazing! I’d love to see a skate shop diorama.
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback. I totally want to make a diorama! It would be cool to have a little case with trucks and wheels as part of it too!
Would be cool to see a NATAS design.
Great video!
👍
Great suggestion. Definitely gonna have to make one of those!!
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood i had a purple NATAS..the 1989 issue.
I've been trying to find a cool old school fingerboard deck since that last fingerboard video but never did find anything that's like quint essential 80's besides maybe the deck shape but none of them had graphics. Nice work on those boards though, love these videos 🤘
Thanks so much for the feedback. I made these because I couldn’t find good old school options for collecting. But I still love that Carlsbad Cruiser from Teak Tuning for actual fingerboarding. 👍
We used to do this back in the day. Yours are much nicer
Thanks for the feedback. It’s a little bit easier now than back in the day… with adult money for tools and supplies 🤣
These look amazing!,would love to see a Winkowski dope planet done 👍.
Right on 🙌 Thanks!
This is a Killer Video! Thanks for filming your hard work! Id love to Have a Grizzly Haslam
Thanks for the feedback. A Grizzly Haslmam would be awesome. Such a fun graphic
Black Christian Hosoi Rising Sun deck, same one Yabbo skated in Gleaming the Cube.
Awesome! I’m a big Hosoi fan, and that Rising Sun graphic is so classic 🙌🙌🙌
This is great! Make an OG Gonz!
Yes!!! OG Vision Gonz is on the short list for my next batch. So iconic!!!
Man, is there anything you canʻt do? These are amazing! Creating that Tony Hawk on your wall behind you would be cool! I remember that deck from back in the day. I had a G&S deck that I wish I had kept. This is another great video and a great tutorial on how to do this yourself. Those water slide decals are the key as they really make it look like it was meant for those boards. Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks Kevin. I’m working on a Tony Hawk right now. G&S decks were so rad. 🙌 These are sort of the perfect mix of my hobbies. I love skateboarding. I love woodworking. I love computer graphic design. And I love video editing, so it’s totally a perfect mix 🤣 Thanks for watching another
Dude, your content is so fun! This is a cool project.
Right on!!! Thanks so much for the feedback 🙏👊
Mark Gonzales graphic would be gnar
Yes!!! I have that one drawn up, and it’s on my short list 🙌
This video is so rad!!!!!!
- Christian
Right on!!! Thanks so much for the feedback 🙏👊
hahah this is so cool man. they came out wonderfully! you should definitely get into fingerboarding, you're never too old to shred hehe. it's one of my favorite hobbies and im in my mid 20s
Awesome! I got a couple of setups from Teak Tuning that I fidget around with on my work desk from time to time. Thanks for watching and sharing the kind words!
These are so cool! Great work and attention to detail.
Thanks so much 🙏 It’s been a lot of fun making them. I started another round this week.
Beautiful video! You take us back to the golden youth years! What software is used here to do all the scaling, cropping, and graphic work? Keep up the good work my man! @TheNostalgicNeighborhood
Thanks so much for the feedback. 🙏 The software is called Affinity Designer. It’s super cheap compared to the Adobe products and a great value. I love it 👍
I'd choose the Hensley for sure I always wanted that as a kid never got my hands on it, and still to this day can't afford it 🤣
That Hensley has still absolutely one of my all time favorites. Such a rad deck!!!
Those came out great
Thanks so much!!! 👊🙏🙏🙏
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood I used to cut out the CCS decks from thrasher and tape them to aluminum flashing. Cut the shape, bend the concave then throw grip on them. No trucks or wheels though in the 90's. Certified sink ripper!
@@waynebretski1 That’s so clever!!! I love it 🙌
these are sick!!!
Thanks so much!!!! 🙏
Matt...those look amazing. Think you've just starting a new business lol. Let me know when you start selling. This is awesome 🔥
Hey Jason! Thanks for the kind words. 🙏 They’re fun to make. ❤️
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood They really do look amazing...I'm sure the process could be a little meditative. Thanks again for the great content.
G&S Neil Blender Snake / Lattice, mine I had was hot pink with pink and purple wheels! I miss my board! If ya recreate one let me know a price!
Awesome. I love Neil Blender. The Coffee Break graphic is in my short list.
The Jeff Grosso, Alice in Wonderland graphic
Oh yeah!!! That’s another super sick and classic graphic 💯🙌
I have a love affair with any of the Phillips Santa Cruz decks.
Right on!!! 💯 Both Jim and Jimbo are amazing artists. So many iconic graphics 🙌
Off topic?
Do you have any suggestions on a “quiet” free wheel sprocket for a 26 bmx? I don’t get the screaming loud freewheeling sound, drives me nuts. I guess like pickle ball, people just like to be annoying
As @UserUser-zc6fx said, Shimano MX-30 is probably what you're lookin for. I have this on my 26" GT Performer and I really like it. It's not loud at all, but is smooth riding. And not too expensive either!
Steve caballero ban this on a red stain 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Yes!!! Gotta add that to the list 🙌
RAD! i had a Tony Hawk with some bird skull on top back in the 80's. i was never good at skating so i stuck with bmx (which i wasnt that good either)
Nice! The classic Tony Hawk chicken skull graphic is on my short list to make next. 👍
Powell Peralta Ray Barbee
Ooh!!! Good idea. Ray Barbee is was so awesome… and still is!!!
🔥
Thanks ❤️🙏
Please make Powell Perelta Per Welender
Great idea!
Are any for sale
Thanks, but not at the moment. But if I can figure out how to make more quickly, I might sell some. I’ll share over on my Instagram account if I do…
🙏
