I have a picture of Mike Maranda riding for Torker from 84 or 85,..pretty sure 1984 Milehigh nationals in longmont Colo,..we drove up from KC,.. my first of many to come,.....It was the main,...all on the gate ready seconds before the call,....He noticed us with the camera,....flashed a big smile,..crossed his arms in front of his neck as he pointed to each pro beside him,....then he WON kickin ass & takin names,..........The years I raced Torker was always my Dreambikes,....I'll always remember Hollywood from that moment.
Pretty sure I won 11 beginner at 1984 Milehigh Nationals in Longmont just shortly after I started racing. I word that damn shirt to shreads. Soon enough I climbed through novice and expert and never made another national main in my career. 🤣 Also raced a triple pointer somewhere in Orange County maybe in about 1985. Miranda and Griggs were there and afterward my mom took me and my buddy to go ride with them at a local riding spot, I think in Fullerton or Brea or something like that. Riding with them at their local spot was probably the highlight of my BMX days, ha ha.
Thank you 🙏 so awesome..I rode flat in 86,87 fiola fan the rad yrs lol…looking forward to your new product line, and bless you for your dedication and your true spirit to bmx sir…cheers from Long Island ny
1980 I went from 55 pounds of Greco MX1000 to a Torker frame/fork. What a bike I loved it so much. Blue with gold ano everything and Oakley 2 grips and a Redline stem.
Had a Torker2 540 Hot Pink and Black. Back in the early 90''s.. Had it until a couple yrs ago and unfortunately lost it in my shop fire..I Was Devastated!! Loved like that bike like it was Family... Wish I could get another, but it wouldn't be the same... Ride On Torker
Wow! This is cool. I hope there are some retro themed models coming out. Everyone else seems to be doing it, but a retro themed, hopefully in chromoly, complete with modern geo would be sweet!
It was great to meet you at DF2. Thanks again for the compliments regarding my restoration of my early model 1978 Torker. Wishing you success with the reboot.
The cool thing about this is how much you guys cared to get the blessing from the family to do this. Anyone could have bought out the rights and just done whatever they wanted, but I think itʻs just so cool that you guys did it the right way. Looking forward to seeing where Torker goes in itʻs comeback!
My last 20 inch bike was a Torker 280x. I bought it at a pawn shop in Victorville CA. Back in 1998 for 85.00. I wish I still had it. That bike was a great ride. I eventually sold it for 225.00 to some kid who saw me riding it and begged me for it. His dad had cash on hand, and like a dummy, I sold it.
I race my Hutch in SoCal the early and mid-80's, based out of Apple Valley. I got fat for awhile, I was too big for it, so I traded it for a beach cruiser in Hermosa Beach in about 2005. Ha ha, I regret it.
I met Mike in Birmingham, England, in the 80s, he was racing for Hutch and he snapped a hutch pedal at the start of the heat, I ran as an excited kid to ask him for his snapped pedal, he said no, but gave me a signed pink baseball cap, made my day, favourite Rider, we didn't get to see the American superstars in Britain that often.
🙌 Great video, guys! It's so cool to see how important and the lengths you went to honor and make sure that the Johnson family is on board with the Torker revival. Dang, I just spent most of my fun money on the new 26" Hutch Hollywood, now I gotta figure out how I'm gonna come up with funds for a 26" Torker!
I went to Woodward bmx camp in the late 80s. Mike Miranda was the pro for the week. My cabin was directly above the bike shop which mike was standing in when I sang the lyrics to a punk song that he heard and did not like. Bang, bang, bang on the door, we open and there mike stands, fully all pink hutch pro uniform and demands to know who was singing. 6 fingers point at me and mike made me do 50 pushups right then. Jeez, I'm 55 now and still remember this!!!
Still got my 83 280. Love everything about the bike, the geometry, the look and handling were just spot on. Got it when I was 13, I'm now 54. Happy days.
I remember letting younger kids at the track ride my Torker back in the 80's and they would bring it back like they were returning rotten apples.... It was too big for the little guys and too heavy for the older riders, but I always got a lot of attention when people saw it for the first time.
Back in 84 i paid $15 for an old beat up Torker frame from some stoner in 7th grade,...painted it,..stickers,..pads,..my pride n joy,..then I got a Torker 280,..love,..then a 280x,.......oh boy,....raced,..raced ,..raced,....16 expert my dream bike,..Torker pro X,.....god I wish I still had it. All I want now is a Torker cruiser,.......got a mint 84 Hutch trickstar if anyone ever wants to trade
When I play the "If the boss said I could have any bike in the shop" game with customers I say the lavender Santa Cruz Stigmata gravel bike. When asked why I say because the color reminds me of the Hutch Hollywood I never got bitd!
don't forget the Torker 2 era (mid-late 80s), some of us grew up in that era. would luv to see vids of the T2 freestyle team and re-release of the T2 bikes!
just heard about this thru cruisin in the 808 im so excited TORKER was my first bmx race bike . im going to have to get one. i actually been wondering if they was going to make make bikes again instead of unicycles. supercross or S&M would be the only ones i see taking over and making it just as good or better. everyone except diamondback , patterson, DG, GT, (and im prolly forgetting something huge) has re-issues of the original. i love it. i love all of the old bmx bikes . how can you pick a favorite?? 😱
With such a legacy brand like torker this video was unnecessary… make cool visuals using the heritage / history you guys have to inform the youth why it’s important you guys are back …
Thank you for persevering, Bill. This is one brand that deserved a reboot.

I still have my torker 2 bike in my garage. That’s cool it’s back.
This is awesome! I raced a Torker for awhile in the 80's, and it became my daily rider until I quit racing BMX. I loved that bike!
This is incredible!!! Way to go guys!!!
Thank you!!
I owned Torker BMX in the 80s. Great looking bike back then.

Raced against Jason Jensen many times. Battled him with my CW racing ZM.
Shit, you just reminded this 1982 12 expert of two things I hadn’t remembered in years: Mike Miranda and Torker.
Glad we could bring back the memories!!
just heard about this thru cruisin in the 808 im so excited TORKER was my first bmx race bike . im going to have to get one. i actually been wondering if they was going to make make bikes again instead of unicycles. supercross or S&M would be the only ones i see taking over and making it just as good or better. everyone except diamondback , patterson, DG, GT, (and im prolly forgetting something huge) has re-issues of the original. i love it. i love all of the old bmx bikes . how can you pick a favorite?? 😱
