    I love big square tails, feels so stable on transition. But I thought that it wouldn't be good for tre flips, but you are killing it!! Maybe the smaller wheelbase makes it easier to tre flip?

    • @AustinSK8NYC
      @AustinSK8NYC  2 года назад +6

      Yea! Square tail is definitely the way to go for Transition! It still has high enough kicks (tail) to get a great pop and I'm sure the wheel base definitely helps. Doesn't help my case that I just love Tre flips 😂. appreciate the love though for real 🙏 I find I hang my back foot slightly more off than usual.

    In all honestly, I myself, do think using a shaped deck does provide an advantage, to a degree. In a way, it could be rather a drawback due to it's shape and size (For tricks like the Tre Flip, Lazer Flip ETC) BUT! I do think it can be used to your advantage. Given that a shaped board does weigh more than a standard Popsicle deck , it would need more force to move and manipulate the deck (AKA tricks that require to lift all four wheels off the ground, an Ollie for example)
    My way to look at it is like this: The more you use a shaped deck (Preferably a board above 9') the more you train your leg muscles to lift and strengthen due to the needed force to lift a larger deck.
    But of course, at the end of the day, do what you feel like doing! That's the beauty of skateboarding is, no one tells you what you should and shouldn't ride, like Professor Schmidt says, All boards are meant to be rode.

    • @AustinSK8NYC
      @AustinSK8NYC  2 года назад +2

      I loved this!! Thank you for the comment and perspective 💪🙏🙏 I found myself gaining more muscle because I skate a bigger board. You are right tho, it is harder to do certain tricks, but you make it work . Got to get the perfect in-between shape.

    • @AustinSK8NYC
      @AustinSK8NYC  2 года назад

      I will say it weighs about the same! Although it's wider it's a little shorter and has a small nose so it's about the same weight at a standard 8 👍 definitely understandable. Everyone's style is different for sure💪👍 what do you normally like to skate? Street transition?

    • @imwithyou38

      @@AustinSK8NYC i actually skate weird....so even back when i skated a lot and had a shop sponsor. my balance foot and pop foot the same foot. when skating around normal i would ride nomral but my nomral trick side was mongo goofy. so like i skated vert normal but because of that all my pop tricks would come from nollie and so a lot of the normally harder tricks on vert were easier than it would be for someone else to learn such as grinds.
      so i have to have a normal nose due to i wouldnt really ollie and would do my tricks nollie/fakie(w.e u wanna call it) off curbs.

  • @DarmokAtTanagra
    @DarmokAtTanagra Год назад

    Of course they're not easier. If you can skate crazy good you'll skate well on anything, the point about getting used to different setups is cool but def would not recommend learning on a shaped board. Shaped boards are heavier, harder to flip, and less utilitarian. I started skating in 1985 and will never ever get a shaped board again. I like them as art pieces but for skating they're a total gimmick to me, aside from more subtle symmetrical and useful shapes like you see with andy anderson's deck designs, and the huge amount of shapes on eg Welcome. But skateboarding is very fun and you can have lots of fun on a shaped skateboard because it is also a skateboard.

  • @xrichiexg

    No they don’t improve your skating 😂😂 they may be fun but there’s a reason skateboard technology went the way it did… pretty sure most dudes riding them with channels are being paid to ride them too!! Lol creative thinking on the vid tho!!

    • @AustinSK8NYC
      @AustinSK8NYC  2 года назад

      I see what your saying. I think the best way to say it is that certain boards are meant for different kind of skating. Yes, board have changed because of the influence of street skating, but it didn't make it better for transition skaters. 7.75 decks -8.25 are hard to skate for transition. Also square tails do help you lock on better to 5-0 grinds on transition.
      To your point it depends on what your trying to skate but for transition, the OG,s had it right in some aspects 😂. Hyped you like the concpet though and I appreciate you showing me love 💪💪🙏

    there is 3 or 4 popsicles. all the 100s of popsicles are the same just different graphics. they are all from the same 3 board makers in mexico. they are ripping you guys off and you didnt even know. skaters have made it easy on board companies to price gouge them because they have the need to fit in so bad. i always have skated shape decks and i can always find who the weak followers are because they will try to make fun of them lol since when are skaters a bunch of angry mob conformists that cant think for themselves?
