- BRIGHTON - Brighton Pier (also known as Brighton Palace Pier) - filmed in 4K HDR
We take the Gimbal Walk TV cameras to lovely Brighton on the South Coast of England for a UK seaside holiday walk along the pier to see what's going on!
We love filming a virtual walk at the seaside so when we got the opportunity to have a look around and see if this really is the perfect UK holiday destination we couldn't resist so here we are for the first time in Brighton! We also have a wander through the Brighton Palace Pier Arcade too!
The Brighton Palace Pier, commonly known as Brighton Pier or the Palace Pier, is a Grade II* listed pleasure pier in Brighton, England, located in the city centre opposite the Old Steine. Established in 1899, it was the third pier to be constructed in Brighton after the Royal Suspension Chain Pier and the West Pier, but is now the only one still in operation. It is managed and operated by the Eclectic Bar Group.
The Palace Pier was intended as a replacement for the Chain Pier, which collapsed in 1896 during construction of the new pier. It quickly became popular, and had become a frequently-visited theatre and entertainment venue by 1911. Aside from closures owing to war, it continued to hold regular entertainment up to the 1970s. The theatre was damaged in 1973 and following a buy-out was demolished in 1986, changing the pier's character from seaside entertainment to an amusement park, with various fairground rides and roller coasters.
The pier remains popular with the public, with over four million visitors in 2016, and has been featured in many works of British culture, including the gangster thriller Brighton Rock, the comedy Carry On at Your Convenience and the Who's concept album and film Quadrophenia.
The pier was renamed as "Brighton Pier" in 2000, although this legal change was not recognised by the National Piers Society nor some residents of Brighton and Hove.[20] The local newspaper, The Argus, continued to refer to the structure as the Palace Pier.
The Palace Pier remains a popular tourist attraction into the 21st century, particularly with day visitors to the city. In contrast to the redevelopment and liberal culture in Brighton generally, it has retained a traditional down-market "bucket and spade" seaside atmosphere
The pier includes several fairground rides, including a haunted house ride, a traditional carousel, and a cup-and-saucer ride. The Booster is a swing ride that catapults people 130 feet (40 m) into the air, turning upside down in the process.

Oh I love Brighton Pier! My favorite part of the pier is to watch that spectacular 'Golden Gallopers' carousel! I love how ornate it is. It's simply dazzling to watch. I was so hoping you were going to wait for the operator to run it. Oh well. I had fish and chips at the Palm Court, it was lovely eating outside and people watching. Thanks Neil for bringing back some brilliant memories of the pier!:)
I'll go back and film the carousel next time I"m in brighton!
Last time I tried eating on the pier I got dive bombed by seagulls that wanted my chips

Good work GMTV
Thank you!
(I try and sneak myself into each video but you have to look really carefully)
I prefer the ambient noise to the added music. But having said that, it is a great video.
Thanks
I don’t use music anymore
It was an older video that one when I was still learning what people wanted to hear etc
About the green waters... As far as I know, and I'm not a specialist, the green colour is because of algae. It happens in waters rich in material the plants thrive on. I would guess it is because of the high population and the waters consequently not being as clean as in less populated areas.
Thank you 🙏
I've never been to Brighton I want to go there
Nice scenary walk
Thank you
It’s my DREAM to go here, an unused area in LittleBigPlanet had a background that looked nearly identical to this, and I love that unused area. If I ever go, I’m bringing a sackboy plush.
It’s a beautiful place ( I live in Brighton) my favourite place to go
It's call Brighton palace pier . So mixture of the old palace pier name and the newer Brighton pier name they used. So because residents wanted the original name (palace pier) it had to change to Brighton palace pier to keep everyone happy
Ah I see! Thank you’
As a former Brightonian, I always prefered the name Palace Pier and I hated the change.
Were the rides open when you went, because in the video it looked like none of the rides were running? Just wondering
Not on this trip I don’t think
The modernised Penny Arcade contains machines that just swallow your hard earned money. We have the same rubbish in Australia.
I have been to Brighton beach and went on Brighton Palace Pier!
It’s great fun isn’t it 👍👍👍
I'm planning on going on hoilday in December. Would this be a good place to go. Will things be open

Thank you. As you can tell I’m just a tourist when it comes to Brighton!
Such a shame they don’t allow dogs on the pier
Yeh!
