@@debbiesaunders1815 🤔 huh it is nice, but like most seaside resorts has suffered from years of neglect. Now we are having Stay - cations there is a little bit left in the pot… So we are trying to clean up Clacton!
We went there last week for the day and it was lovely. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. The nicest gardens I have seen anywhere. We had a lovely day.
I spent most of my teenage summers in Clacton because I had a family member who owned a caravan there. And once i stated working my friends and I would hire a caravan there too while others opted for Spain or Greece etc. But we had so much fun in clacton we wouldn't have gone anywhere else. Lovely memories .looks a little different today mind!
Brilliant video, Tim. Brought back so many happy memories of trips to Clacton when I was younger, especially for the Clacton Airshow every August. Yes, the town centre is a bit rough and there are some dodgy characters hanging about, but it’s no different to many other seaside towns. The coastline, gardens, beaches and pier are amazing. Thanks for sharing - this video is a fab trip down memory lane :-)
I remember Clacton On Sea Butlin's back in 1970's. Happy memories and a nice walk down memory lane. Watching your videos makes me want to rediscover the Great British seaside again.😃
There used to be day trips to Calais from the end of the pier, I went with my parents in the early sixties on a ship called Queen of the Channel, I got quite seasick !
Tim, have you worked a presenter on televisiion or radio in the past as your style of presentation is excellent, so clear and easily understood, for some reason you scream Butlins, Pontins, your knowledge of North Norfolk is very impressive, never been to anywhere in Essex, , thanks for sharing
Wow, that was a great video and ended very quickly. I have no idea how Clacton got worse beach award which is a travesty as it looked great. Think I'll go there next year if I can!!
Mum and I worked out we haven't been since we lived in London in the early 70s. I don't remember it but Mum says it looks much better now. Doesn't deserve the tag!
I can think of tons of so called seaside resorts that pale in comparison. I've never been to Clacton, but from what I saw in this video I'd be quite happy to take a day or two out there.
I live in Clacton and it’s a really nice sea side town, great day out for anyone to enjoy, highly recommend people visit and see for yourself what it’s like.
Ooh the seafood platter looks very good I can imagine how lovely it would be to sit right at the end of the pier where it's quiet watching the Sun going down, eating Calamari Rings! Ive done the Titanic thing when I was on a ferry 😂 standing at the end with arms outstretched like Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet! Very pretty Seafront Gardens. Clayton on Sea looks lovely I haven't been anywhere in Essex, I didn't even realize Essex was by the sea. Seeing so many new places Walking with you Tim😊
@@WalkWithMeTim Ah I got 2 right! I knew Cromer was by the Sea as I stayed there for 4 weeks with a friend when I was 21 I remember walking down Cromer Pier & we went to the main Shops in Norfolk, it's 23 years ago since I went but I seem to remember alot of Churches & Chapels in Norfolk like on every corner & I remember going to a Nightclub in Norfolk with a revolving dance floor which was crazy after a few drinks! Clacton looks lovely, not sure how it got that tag, interesting to have 2 big wheels and responsible prices too. I know the one in Scarborough is about £5, the Great Yarmouth one was £8 but to me is a lot bigger and worth it for the views. Nice to see that the pier has a lot of attractions on it too.

Clacton is a nice resort. I love it and enjoy visiting it when we stay in East Anglia as a day out. We are from Manchester and even made it rain in Britain's driest town St Osyth by driving through it😁

Amazing video for a not much famous place. I am sure it will be much popular in coming days. Suggestion- it will be great if you add some information of price (ex- entry to water park, rides, beach huts, beach side tourist train, food stalls etc), also if you add information on how to commute to the beaches, which beach is best, may be a sort of how to cover the place, best area to stay, how many days…..this way the videos will be of great information to more and more users to plan.
Moved to Clacton in the mid 60's. I always remember the seafront gardens being tended well and they are even better now. One thing the Council do well is looking after the seafront and gardens. Tim, you presented the seafront very well. Thank you.
Can’t see why Clacton should have such a low rating to be honest. Town looks a little dated but they’ve done wonders for the seafront and pier which comes nicely across in your video Tim 👍.
Why don’t you let the people know about the 16yr old that stabbed someone to death the other week in clacton town centre or the raging lunatics that run about this town

@@WalkWithMeTim they should book a holiday here in Ayr.... They'd die of boredom lol although, I will admit our sunsets from Ayr beach are absolutely beautiful
It’s not as nice as other southern seaside towns if that makes sense. Essex is probably the most deprived county in the south so it sticks out as a dodgy place. I’m sure there’s worse areas
I've lived lots of places in England, been in Clacton for 3 yrs now and it's better than a lot of places I've lived so ignore all the negativity, Basically, don't judge what you don't know👍

As someone who had been on Holiday to Clacton their whole life, I've never understood why Clacton has got such a bad wrap. It's such a lovely place and especially the people. If you're ever down by the Lifeboat station, the beach diner is always worth a visit, Andy and his staff are lovely
Clacton is a really lovely friendly place to have a holiday! Weve been there numerous times and always gave a great time, especially if you're on a budget holiday! Some people just dont know how to enjoy themselves and getting toii fussy and spoilt!

Hi Tim ! Really don't get why it's voted the worst seaside town. It looks really nice definitely dosent deserve that label. Great walk looked lovely there . Thankyou for sharing with us love to you as always Tracey 💕 xxxx
That was such a pretty place to go visit..under the Pier looked pretty new/clean compared to other piers u have been under that looked old, scary to go under.thanks always for yr walks and talks 👌
We visited Clacton on day trips during the last summer before the lockdown. The pier, beach, and gardens were all good. However, the Town Centre was a tip with drunks, druggies and beggars congregated in and around the High Street, and good restaurants and quality shops were few and far between. These days there is more to a day, or longer, at the Seaside than Fish n Chips, Burgers, and tatty gift shops. Those charged with regenerating Clacton should take a trip to Brighton to see how it's done.
Unfortunately we have two major points where drug addicts and alcoholics gather… one is supposed to be called Christmas Tree Island - we call it STRONGBOW SQUARE. The other one doesn’t have an official name but is known as Kronenberg Korna! The police just turn a blind eye to the problem, and in the main these ppl are harmless - except the the entrance to our flats is used as a local urinal/toilet - yes number 2s have been found! It’s also a ‘brilliant’ place to ‘Jack up.’ We regularly have to clean the alley of all sorts, needles, alcohol bottles, urine and number 2s!
Clacton was my very first chance booking/seaside place alone on holiday back in 2017 & I had a great time. Especially enjoyed my early morn runs along the Esplanade & cinnamon doughnuts with a hot chocolate. Yum 😋
The last time i went to Clacton on sea was in 2012 i was supposed to be going this year but because of the problems at the hotel i couldnt go but hopefully next year i will go i still miss my home town Clacton is my home and i still love it
Clacton and surrounding areas is really nice, this label that it's the worst is bs. Altho it used to be better when it had Oscars on the pier in the 90's. Great vid 👍🏻
I used to live there and it’s not that bad. All seaside towns are dated and needing money putting in to them, the pier has had a significant amount put in over the last year zxx
I went last week and i used to go when i was young. I can see why people voted it the worst. The town centre is crap and pound shops and dodgy people. The food in the places we ate in were not great. The pier was ok actually. The beach is nice but most places are more developed and more to do. You can easily do everything in one day in Clacton. It needs work and regeneration. It is worth investing in the infrastructure. I have wonderful memories of when i was younger. Nightlife isnt the greatest.
@@WalkWithMeTim Yes i agree with you, but i can see why people are a bit brutal about it to. It was a fantastic place growing up, so it is a shock to see it now. I think that was my main thing. I know its harsh but it wasnt just me that felt that.
If you stick to the seaside Clacton's quite nice. Don't go any further into town than the McDonalds and you'll have a good time of it. Having lived in the area it gets a lot a bad press being next door to Jaywick.
I live about 6 miles away from Clacton-on-Sea and always have done , it's it's funny seeing where I've grown up shown in such a nice light !! Makes me think I should actually visit the pier, haven't been in years
I literally live 30 mins bus drive to Clacton, I kinda grew up there with my college mates etc, it's a really nice place especially when it's Christmas time, they get all the Christmas events up in town and in the pier too, looking forward to it!
It's a lovely place to have a holiday, we always enjoyed our holidays when we were younger It's a better resort than Skegness Clacton gets a thumbs up from me. X
Wow looks the best its ever been, although ive not been since the early 90s when we used to drink in the Cockney Pride on the pier. There was a small railway called the crab and winkle line that used to take passengers from somewhere around Tiptree to the coast south of Tollesbury where you could get a paddle steamer to Clacton pier. You can still see the remains of the Tollesbury pier that was blown up to stop Germans landing in WWll.
hi ... Clacton On Sea is a lovely place in the summer... in the winter is dead lol but if we are talking abount pier... is one of the best at the moment in uk and owners still looking for something new!! so defo will be the best pier for the next few years... for me is a really nice place!
I had to watch this as we’ve been going for years. We have a caravan about 15 min drive from clacton in st Osyth. If you walk in the opposite direction to where you went there is the most beautiful Sandy beach. We couldn’t believe we only discovered it this year. On a sunny day it didn’t feel like we were in the U.K. There are so many activities for families to do within 15 minutes from clacton.
Went here about a decade ago a few times with my mum. Really liked the experience. Unfortunately didn't have the money at the time to enjoy all of the attractions, but maybe if I go back to the UK someday, I will be able to enjoy it more. I would guess it's low rating would be because the places where people actually live are rougher than the seaside area, and because of it's proximity to Jaywick. Enjoyed the trip down memory lane!
Make's me homesick, as I was born in Clacton and lived there with my parent's before leaving England to live in Mauritius, as my dad was of Mauritian origine.
I live in Clacton. Wasn't expecting to see this pop up on my RUclips 😂 as for the two wheels. You have one at the Pavilion Park and one at the pier. Both owned by different people who are competing with eachother
Never been. Looks awesome. Dont see why it could be the worst seaside resort apart from the no social distancing. Another awesome video :) . I also have another place recommendation for you to visit in wales .. saw it on another channel . Portmerlon Wales. Never been myself but looks like a good place to walk with me. :)
@@WalkWithMeTim Did not want to get into trouble for posting the link. So just put the name. Your Vlogs bring me a smile when I see each one uploaded :)
I just been on holiday there in the middle of September for a week had a great time weather was fantastic but thought it was strange to have two big wheels next to each other
It does seem to have improved a bit. Came here for the Clacton Hockey Festival in the 80s and 90s which was a lot of fun. Sadly, I see it was scrapped back in 2001. Remember a big yellow track rollercoaster in the 80s.
@@WalkWithMeTim im from clacton now live near southend!clacton wins all day long much better seafront and pier than any other seaside resort in britain fact
At least its still got the railway station. Some seaside places in Norfolk probably never recovered after losing their rail line back in the beeching cuts
After seeing this I thought I'd have a day out in Clacton. All in all it was pretty good on the pier and seafront and I enjoyed the gardens which I probably would have missed. I did find the town centre quite run down and scruffy and they obviously have a problem with seagull deposits everywhere. But overall no worse or better than any other faded victorian seaside resort.
Then again, are not the Seafront Gardens looking a bit tatty and in need of a make over? While the formal garden is colourful, does it not look like it is set in 1822? As for the bushes and planting in the informal garden, do they not need thinning to open up a link between the town and cliffs?
Hi Tim another great video, I absolutely love Clacton as me, my wife and our 2 dogs was there for 2 weeks in May a day before King Charles Coronation we stayed at Martello Beach Holiday Park in Jaywick, then I was there again in June, and I am going back this coming Monday, 🥲🥲 for a week, there is something about Clacton that draws me to this lovely place, people are friendly as 3 strangers who wished I have a live day and a lovely weekend! 😊

It’s also a ‘brilliant’ place to ‘Jack up.’
We regularly have to clean the alley of all sorts, needles, alcohol bottles, urine and number 2s!
Clacton was my very first chance booking/seaside place alone on holiday back in 2017 & I had a great time. Especially enjoyed my early morn runs along the Esplanade & cinnamon doughnuts with a hot chocolate. Yum 😋
The last time i went to Clacton on sea was in 2012 i was supposed to be going this year but because of the problems at the hotel i couldnt go but hopefully next year i will go i still miss my home town Clacton is my home and i still love it
yay! carol I love Clacton
I moved to Clacton October 2019 and I am so glad I chose Clacton for me it's a great place to live
agree Jeff
Clacton and surrounding areas is really nice, this label that it's the worst is bs. Altho it used to be better when it had Oscars on the pier in the 90's. Great vid 👍🏻
Totally agree
@chris -Oscars all night raves in the 90s. See prodigy play live had some good nights there pilled out my head.🤪
@@MrPotmonster Oh yeah, the jilted tour in '94, I was in attendance, can't say I remember much about it, was a great night tho 👌🏻
I used to live there and it’s not that bad. All seaside towns are dated and needing money putting in to them, the pier has had a significant amount put in over the last year zxx
totally agree Kate!
Nightlife isnt the greatest.
but like every seaside town it has its problems
@@WalkWithMeTim Yes i agree with you, but i can see why people are a bit brutal about it to. It was a fantastic place growing up, so it is a shock to see it now. I think that was my main thing. I know its harsh but it wasnt just me that felt that.
I live on Martello Bay so its nice to see it being praised :)
😉 yes!
If you stick to the seaside Clacton's quite nice. Don't go any further into town than the McDonalds and you'll have a good time of it. Having lived in the area it gets a lot a bad press being next door to Jaywick.
yes agree
I live about 6 miles away from Clacton-on-Sea and always have done , it's it's funny seeing where I've grown up shown in such a nice light !! Makes me think I should actually visit the pier, haven't been in years
the gardens are amazing x beautiful xxx
very true
I literally live 30 mins bus drive to Clacton, I kinda grew up there with my college mates etc, it's a really nice place especially when it's Christmas time, they get all the Christmas events up in town and in the pier too, looking forward to it!
Sounds great!
I live in frinton 5 miles from clacton those gardens look amazing. I loved your video. Great to see your take on clacton glad you liked it.
Thanks for watching!
It's a lovely place to have a holiday, we always enjoyed our holidays when we were younger It's a better resort than Skegness Clacton gets a thumbs up from me. X
I totally agree!
Thanks for the tips nick
Beautiful and well maintained gardens . I can just imagine something so refreshing at Coney Island . NOT ! Thanks for posting.
But are not the formal gardens - while well maintained - very dated for a town in 2000 and 22?
hi ... Clacton On Sea is a lovely place in the summer... in the winter is dead lol but if we are talking abount pier... is one of the best at the moment in uk and owners still looking for something new!! so defo will be the best pier for the next few years... for me is a really nice place!
agree .. like any place in the winter its not the best
@@WalkWithMeTim if u like traveling go to Poland in the winter is really nice! snow good fun for kids and cheap! nice video by the way...
There are so many activities for families to do within 15 minutes from clacton.
yes Sarah some positive comments for clacton
Another great & fantastic video of Clacton-on-Sea Seafront Tour - Voted WORST rated seaside resort? i once for a day trip on the train!.💕💕
Yes it's got some great beaches too
Never been to Clacton On Sea, so looking looking forward to seeing what it's like
Hope you enjoyed it
@@grahamecrump4346 don’t be so silly
Another great video. Thank you.
Keep 'em coming 👍👍
Thanks 😉 will do
Went here about a decade ago a few times with my mum.
Make's me homesick, as I was born in
Clacton and lived there with my parent's
before leaving England to live in Mauritius, as my dad was of Mauritian
origine.
make sure you check out the other one I did too
When did you film this? Whilst there in August, the Helter Skelter was still held down with ratchet straps and under the pier was fenced off
September
Never visited Clacton, however, I love the dated feel of the place. Very quaint indeed. 😀
Indeed 😉
Hi Tim. Loved your video of Clatiton. Never been but now I want to go. But first Norfolk. Marie
You should
I grew up here, from age of 4 to 23 years old.. Love it.. still visit my parents who are there, I now Colchester, but Love Clacton..!!!
its a great place
Seemed lovely to me Tim, saying that when the suns shining most places look great 👍🏻
Take care fella enjoy your holiday 😊😊✌️
Agree steve but the town is like any seaside town and needs a bit of tlc
Great tour )) We love to explore the old seaside piers :o)
Yes they are so much fun
I live in Clacton. Wasn't expecting to see this pop up on my RUclips 😂 as for the two wheels. You have one at the Pavilion Park and one at the pier. Both owned by different people who are competing with eachother
and 2 different prices lol
I love Clacton I use it for my place of rest and depression getaway ❤
Shoot forgot the emotes again.
Good tip
Lol
@@WalkWithMeTim Did not want to get into trouble for posting the link. So just put the name.
Your Vlogs bring me a smile when I see each one uploaded :)
Amazing video my friend.. Thanks for sharing.. Stay connected. Guys
Thanks
I just been on holiday there in the middle of September for a week had a great time weather was fantastic but thought it was strange to have two big wheels next to each other
Totally agree
We used to have sand in Southport too. Clacton looks great, I might go there on holiday, looks better than here.
You should!
Awesome video buddy going there in 2 weeks time theres 25 of us going all family members lol
That's awesome wow! 25 of you are you going by coach! ;-)
@@WalkWithMeTim lol no theres 2 / 7 seater cars and 2/ 5 seater cars
Moved to little clacton from hornchurch 3 years ago n love it here
Its such a great place and doesn't deserve the bad rap
It does seem to have improved a bit. Came here for the Clacton Hockey Festival in the 80s and 90s which was a lot of fun. Sadly, I see it was scrapped back in 2001. Remember a big yellow track rollercoaster in the 80s.
Yes that yellow coaster was great
@@WalkWithMeTim the clacton pier whirlwind
Great work buddy!
Thanks
Hi Tim enjoyed your vidio ,and pleased to be a member, thanks Tim 👍
Thanks andy 👍
for myself, i live in southend it also has a nice seaside but Clacton actually way better
I love them both!
@@WalkWithMeTim im from clacton now live near southend!clacton wins all day long much better seafront and pier than any other seaside resort in britain fact
Great video Tim. Do they still have a Theatre on the Pier, I seem to remember going there with my parents many years ago.
No theatre is in town
2 theaters, one in the town hall, the Princess Theatre and another next to the hospital off the sea front, the Wesrcliffe Theatre.
At least its still got the railway station. Some seaside places in Norfolk probably never recovered after losing their rail line back in the beeching cuts
hasn't most towns tho?
@@WalkWithMeTim yes you would be right in Norfolk. Only one far from a railway is Hunstanton. I would imagine caister would of benefitted
Wow Tim, I saw and discovered more about Clacton by watching your video than I have done in 20+ years that I've worked there!!
really ..lol
Beautiful clacton on sea. I wish i was there right now! 🙏☀️🤗🌞⭐😎🙋♀️
You are ... virtually
Hi Tim
I was in Clacton earlier this year..it's a wonderful place to go and take children.
Hot doughnuts on the Sea front always delicious.
Yes I love Clacton
Love those gardens 😍 Clacton looks lovely, what weather you had 👍🏼
Yes I know its beautiful when the sunshines
Never been there Tim another play on my list Great video as allways I've even shared this on my Facebook 😁👍💯
Yay .. thanks Simon
The town itself does need some modernisation but the amusements are terrific. I had great fun visiting earlier this year.
Yes agree but seafront and beach is great
Hi Tim another great video, I absolutely love Clacton as me, my wife and our 2 dogs was there for 2 weeks in May a day before King Charles Coronation we stayed at Martello Beach Holiday Park in Jaywick, then I was there again in June, and I am going back this coming Monday, 🥲🥲 for a week, there is something about Clacton that draws me to this lovely place, people are friendly as 3 strangers who wished I have a live day and a lovely weekend! 😊
I never been to Clacton before myself but looks lovely place :D I might come visit there at some point soon. Thanks for showing us around Tim :)
You're welcome, it's alright Clacton it gets a bad wrap but I like it
IM 60 been going to clacton since i was a kid still go there every year for a week its better than yarmouth hastings southend and Brighton will go every year until i no longer can i highly recommend clacton
yes agree Steve! its a great place
Hi.Fantastic video.🙂
How do you fit all tbese trips in to seside resorts I was at Great Yarmouth last weekend for Outhere festival
Good question!
WoW Amazing walk 👏👏 thanks tim. 👍👍
Hey thanks Dola
