- The eighth score in the franchise, and this movie would bring a much needed breath of fresh air into the series. It is arguably the best in the entire franchise, but many would probably place it second behind The Wrath of Khan. This would see the return of Goldsmith once again, and he would never leave the franchise once he became involved this time (that is until his death).
The theme presented here is a bold, and somewhat nostalgic if I may say so myself. A heroic theme is what Goldsmith wrote here, and he would use it plenty of times through out the score. Also returning would be the Klingon theme and not much has changed with the theme other than the fact that the tempo had certainly been increased which made feel like a true battle theme. However it's probably best to call it the Worf theme by this time since he is the only Klingon appearing in the Next Generation movies from this point on.
The Blaster Beam would make a reappearance in this score. A mutation of his electronic "Blaster Beam" in a heavy, relentless minor key motif to portray the mechanized Borg. The Borg theme is used in different ways such as with the Blaster Beam, but also with heavy brass when the Borg Cube first appears.
A note should be taken that Joel Goldsmith also worked on this score because Jerry Goldsmith had run into scheduling conflicts and had difficulties completing The Ghost In The Darkness which is a fine score in itself. Видеоклипы
i almost teared up hearing this theme again in the credits of picard season 3, undoubtedly one of my favorite trek themes 😭
Same! its been quite a while since i came to this video, or watched First Contact, so when I watched the episode and it got to the credits I was about to switch off. I heard the start of it and I was like "hang on..." just wow that sent me way back!
Same
I hummed along loving this nod for every every second. ❤
Same! Picard season 3 seems to respect the legacy a lot more than what went before. Even down to the font.
I damn near lost my mind when I heard it in the end credits for Picard season 3. I admit I started crying. Not many understand what this music means and how it affects the soul if understood properly. Jerry Goldsmith was a musical legend and he is sorely missed.
"I envy you. This world you're going to."
"I envy you. Taking these first steps into a new frontier."
Trek at its most emotive, powerful best.
Makes my every day
Star Trek always found someway to reach deep into my soul!!
I shall miss you Lilly
I envy you for the world that you´re going to. I envy You for taking this steps to take the whole Humanity to a new frontier. I will miss you Lilly!
A men to that! Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best film Star Trek has made. The theme tune reminded me of hope, vision, glancing over that abyss…. To fear nothing that may be there. To embrace the future with open arms, I’m just gutted I won’t be around to see it.
This could be more than a movie soundtrack. This could be the anthem of a better world
Yes. Just yes. The reminder of humanity's potential, not just where we are now.
April 5th, 2063, ?, ........if I'm lucky, I'll be 162 yrs.old. I'll be 163 on May 23, 2063 One month after first contact with Vulcan. 😁 I was born in 1960 six years before Star Trek's premiere. What a time paradox.
Well put.
@@johnbockelie3899 Actually 103.
Yes, it has hope and promise. Absolutely noble and exhilarating!
IMO, this is possibly one of the best themes in the history of cinema.
I agree with you. Also, a bit of a forgotten gem i've been listening to a lot recently is the score from Medicine Man. Not that great of movie, but its a great score by Jerry Goldsmith. "The Trees" is worth a listen.
Mark Miller I also have a thing for the ST insurrection theme too
It's very good, it made the film bearable.
Yes.
You have awful taste.
Alright, guys, April 5th, 2063, Bozeman, Montana, 11AM. Wanna come along?
Yes.
I will meet you there and bring the popcorn.
7 days before my 86th birthday. I'll just party for a week. :)
It'll be 22 days before my 63rd Birthday. Also, someone bring a camera.
I'll be 66 then. Just about time to retire!
My grandpa died last night. And I came to this track thinking of him. Because he loved _Star Trek_ and this track in particular feels like his "Amazing Grace".
Sorry for your loss man. Star trek is amazing the way it brings us all together.
I am so very sorry for your loss. This beautiful piece of music now holds even more resonance.
May he rest in peace. May he be reborn in a future society like this.
Sorry for your loss. When I lost my mother, who wasn't a massive Star Trek fan but absolutely loved this piece of music, she was laid to rest to it. It's a wonderful "send-off" :)
@@wheeliebin18 Sorry about your mom, dude.
That french horn solo is the reason I am now a professional horn player. I'm reduced to tears every time I hear this music...
That's so cool! Out of interest, did you learn how to play the horn solo?
@@George... heck yeah! I taught myself in high school transposed down a whole step but now I can play it normally.
@@pumpkinofdoom Oh man that's so cool! Nice work pal! :)
'I am extremely saddened to report that a while ago the soloist horn player you can hear in this piece passed away, I am sure he would have been very proud to know he lives on through others he inspired.

@@Nine-Signs Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear that! :( RIP to an absolute legend.
This was undoubtedly the best of the “Next Generation” movies.
The best of all of them, IMHO
This is my favourite movie. Period. I watch first contact when I’m sick or sad or happy. For me this is comfort.
The best Star Trek movie as far as I'm concerned. Obviously The Wrath of Khan is close second
Mit Abstand mein Freund...mit Abstand
J@@itisipedro160 I never saw it - I pretty much stayed clear of the NG movies. But I recently saw the ending of this film and was moved, and the music is...well, just wonderful. So I guess, thanks to all the comments here about the film, I'll take a look. It's the magical moment - when will it come? - when we'll escape the bounds of this earth and go boldly...it was always the dream of my generation to look up and dream. Well, what generation doesn't?
RIP Brian O'Connor, French horn soloist on this recording.
+Robert Edwards RIP
Cheers .....
+Robert Edwards I did not know , best anthem out . God bless.
Indeed, RIP. Very expressive playing but not over the top. Some of the phrasing could have been very, er, Straussian if he wasn't careful. Would you happen to know who was on the principal trumpet stand during this session? Almost sounds like the late Maurice Murphy (RIP) but it seems a long shot, he's somewhat legendary...
RIP to a great talent
My Dad got me into Star Trek. He took me to see this movie in theaters and absolutely loved this theme. He's been gone for over a year now. Every time I hear this nowadays, I look back on fond memories and miss him dearly...
Know that feeling my Dad did that too. But he's still with you
My father did the same with me. I went to the cinemas with him beside me to watch the ST films. We both cried at ST II's ending (Spock's death scene), and we bonded over ST. He passed in 2007, and I miss him very much.
It was the reverse for me. My dad started watching "TOS" after I introduced him to it. He died in '84 so he didn't get to see "TNG" or the others after that. At his funeral, a lone bagpiper played "Amazing Grace". When I saw "WOK" at my college's theatre the following qtr., and Scotty played it for Spock, I cried. I also cried when pipe and played it for Leonard Nimoy. Still, I love the song. As much as people complain about It, I never heard any objection when the song was played in the movie, " Invasion of the Body Snatchers"'( The '68 version with Leonard Nimoy).
My dad introduced me to Star Trek TNG and then we watch all the shows together. But my favorite will we always The Next Generation... oh my god i'm crying like a baby!!
And that's what Star Trek is all about, at least the original and first four spin off shows, the new so called Star Trek will touch no one the way the real Star Trek has and will continue to do so for generations to come. Tthe soul of Star Trek is simply about hope, especially in times where it seems hope as forsaken us. the closing scene where Lilly and Picard part ways is so touching, you can see the confidence in her eyes, secure in the knowledge that man does arrive at a golden future born in fire of strife and hardship, all because someone believed in a dream and dared to hope. Thank you for sharing your memory, the studios will never understand what this show means past their bottom line which is why they are destroying a legacy that took 60 years to build.

Captain, they've adapted.
Keep in mind that this theme was composed by a near-70-year-old man who had already scored hundreds of previous creative works. Even at that age and after so much under his belt, he's able to generate this instant classic. That alone is so inspiring.
Getting a well deserved replay on end credits of Picard Season 3. Bravo.
So say we all.
And in Picard’s final speech to his crew 🥲
Picard episods best ever star treek, maybe i am just nostalgic 50 years old sf shit❤❤
I'm glad the makers also agree that this is one of Star Trek's finest pieces of music, beside the original theme
Jerry Goldsmith, a legendary composer
Thank you Jerry G. Heartfelt.
This song gives me hope for humanity.
I envy you . taking these first steps into a new frontier
Very fitting given what we went through over the past 5 years: polarization due to Trump and Brexit, a global pandemic, and now a war in Ukraine. Humans all over the world needs to be reminded about their potential to be a catalyst for positive social change and our ability to unite over a common cause for our humanity. "Star Trek" and especially this song reminds you about this.
@@LGranthamsHeir I'm working in a hospital as a security officer, and I see the aggravation that the healthcare staff get, and I'm starting to lose my faith in humanity. It's only the dedication I see from them that stops me losing my faith in people completely.

I totally agree Matt
"The Motion Picture" music should have, but Hollywood was too busy sticking up their noses at the whole idea. Has anybody here realized this is a re-orchestration of the original theme?
It did
You know what the sad part is if John Williams wrote it it would have won an Oscar
@@anthonyjordanmoviesandmore2470 wouldn’t have been as good either
I think this main theme is the most beautiful one of all the Star Trek films. While all the others have this wonderful adventurous feel to them, this one is just. . . so soothing and heart lifting. It seems like a song to play while viewing all of the memories of Star Trek and the crews of the Enterprise, (both Kirk's and Picard's): The friendships, the brotherly love, the sacrifices, the bravery, the tears, the laughs, the resurrections, and most of all, in memory of all those we've lost-- Gene Roddenberry, Majel Barrett, DeForest Kelly, James Doohan, Grace Lee Whitney, and Leonard Nimoy and all the others.
+JohnSilverfan01 It's one of my top five favorite classical pieces of all time.
+JohnSilverfan01 What I love most about this theme is just how much it keeps with Gene Roddenberry's vision of a hopeful future.
best star trek theme ever brings emotion more an some tears so powerful and just Awesome
+JohnSilverfan01 Simply put, it's a love song. I can see Lilly looking at the sky and dreaming, "Somewhere among the stars ..."
+JohnSilverfan01 totally agree. It is perfect...it makes the heart soar as you realize this is the beginning of an incredible future...
I dedicate this song to Leonard Nimoy who passed today at 83 years of age. RIP Spock, live long and prosper.

We need to send Leonard to Genesis
Owen Jones
Also we need to steal the Enterprise.............. again.

Absolutely crushed when frakes pointed out nearly all of the STTNG cast is 70 or older. I really wish we could have had 3 season of season 3 it's so good. The non verbal acting is superb...
Marina Sirtis is 68 and Levar Burton 66 bruh, and dont even want to start with Wesley Crusher,
@@tovarishlumberjack2356 those were frakes words not mine... But 68 & 66 are still not that far off. Very sadly
Older than the original series cast in Undiscovered Country, and more time since the end of TNG to now, than from the end of TOS to Undiscovered Country
I'm just thankful we got the sign off the next generation deserved in Picard Season 3.
Marina looks a lot younger, so does also Levar. 🤔 But i absoluetly cant believe there is no season 4 and no season 8 of *TNG* ......... 😢
I’m happy to say this, but Picard had every right to bring me back to this masterpiece!
This gave me chills back when I was young..and it still does to this day. An unbelievably powerful piece of music. RIP Jerry Goldsmith. No one could make a score quite like you could.
It still gives me chills man. It's so damn good
RIP Gene Roddenberry, for giving us a vision of our universe in the future.
Bloodstainer Agreed
i just hope we have a future like this....cpt. picard was or will be a legand....

I forgot how incredible this theme is. After watching Picard and reading comments about the theme having echoes of this, came back to listen. Absolutely amazing and so powerful.
This.....is probably the most emotional, most beautiful piece of music EVER written in the entire star trek realm.....and it touches my heart every time i play it.....
This is the music of destiny. Of the future. Of OUR future. Our great, great future among the stars.
I pity any who say they only see the apocalypse on the horizon.
Daniel Cannata i only see the apocolypse as we prefer to kill ourself reather then explore the universe like the ISS cost one sixt of the yearly U.S military budget, we couldv have a huge moon base today but no....nuclear weapons are more important ;c
If you know the Star Trek lore, you know that an apocalypse already happened before 2063. And look at the result :)My reasonings have nothing to do with this movie, but I have reason to believe that if an apocalypse, or some other great catastrophe/cataclysm, it will primarily kill the people who did not prepare, who sat there and let it happen.Other people, the more intelligent ones, who saw it coming, will be well hidden and well prepared to hide and wait it out, and then come back out when the dust settles. Then we'll carry on and make something like this happen.I'm not eager to see a nuclear winter, or anything like that, happen, but I am prepared for what may follow.
@Samuel Franklin : You could even make a good argument that an apocalypse is necessary: it knocks some sense into mankind and finally unifies us as a single species on a single planet: what is needed for the world of Trek to happen.
Didn't you hear? They're cancelling the apocalypse in 2025.

Wait how many years now?! 😳
I love how this is the theme for season 3 of Picard it should of been the theme throughout the entire series

Nah Season 1, and 2 were quite rubbish to be honest, not worthy of it.
Knowing what awaits at the end of S3, the theme from First Contact could not be more appropriate

You know, I genuinely get a lump in my throat when I hear this at full volume.
Or any volume for that matter
this theme speaks novels about humanity's great future.
Our destiny is a huge one. Among the Stars

When this film was released, there was a huge Star Trek event in Toronto, over 4 days they had autograph signings with Takei, Barrett, Doohan, Chase Masterson, and Gates McFadden, the Ontario Science centre had a Science of Trek exhibition, the CN tower had a concert, the Cinesphere had a movie marathon, my buddy and I got to see the premiere at midnight hosted by Gates McFadden ot was just awesome
I CAN'T listen to this without getting goosebumps and I STILL TEAR-UP EVERY TIME! I start thinking of my life, all the years that have gone by with original Trek and beyond as a constant presence, the places I've been, the people I've met and the situations I've survived...life, with all it's triumphs, tragedies, joys and regrets...remembering being young and loved ones who have passed on... It's a book, and EVERY SINGLE PERSON has lived their own "book" with all their own adventures... Honestly, if THIS is not a score for all of our own journeys through life then I don't know what is!!!
I too have a book. Written it in my own presence. I'm thankful there are still a few chapters left. We'll said star qc
I know the feeling
Jerry Goldsmith created this majestic piece of music that is the most powerful and yet gentle musical score out of all the Star Trek adventures preceding First Contact.
I'd disagree, I would have to say Insurrection
I would not disagree. Marvelous. The gentle aspect is highly underrated.
Watching First Contact was one of the first memories I have. I remember hearing this score and it bringing me to tears, even as a child. Everytime I play this now, I can't help but be reminded of a simpler time when I had no worries or cares at all, and what a perfect score to fit such a time. Beautiful music. Absolute masterpiece

First Contact hardly has any flaws.
I like how the piano fell off the stage at the very end and they were just like "fuck it, we're not playing this again, it stays in!"
Silly, but that really made me chuckle.
That piano cord is to transition directly to the next piece of music where you see Picard on a Borg Cube.

This soundtrack is up there with some of the best ever composed.
My father used to work late at a news station and as a child I would stay up all night to hang out with him just a little bit. This was one of our movies. When he died in 2018 I had this song played last at his funeral and to this day it is one of the few that brings tears. Truly it is a beautiful song to me for many reasons.
Instantly recognized it while watching Lower Decks Season 3. What a great throwback. Thank you Mike McMahon and the whole team.
First Contact was my first Star Trek movie and that's the best way to start. It tells how the world of Star Trek began and what better way to usher that story in than with a Jerry Goldsmith score.
Thats cool my first Star Trek movie was Undiscovered Country I remember watching that movie when it first came out in 1991/1992. I thought it was cool how the whole original cast was still alive in the mid to late 1990s but then sadly they started to die off and now we only have four of them.
This too got me into Trek. I was 7 the first time I saw it on VHS.
This is Next Generation's Wrath of Khan, literally defines an entire series. The music is a character unto itself .

From back when Star Trek was still something very special.
It still is.

My most favorite Star Trek score.
Mine too!
0:39-2:31 is my favorite part of the score whenever it played during certain parts of First Contact. With this music, I feel as if I'm stepping into a sacred place and wandering through it.
Davos Maxwell :,) Beautiful.
I was sketchy on this Picard series at first. But this season 3 was a masterpiece! It took me back to next generation. Well done! And when I heard this theme, I lost it.
You can say that again. And then when we see the Enterprise D again in all of her glory, I still get teary eyed
After I saw first contact in theaters in junior high, this song almost had me in tears trying to leave the theater. I just felt, like, the future was going to be hard, but we would be okay.
This and Band Of Brothers theme hit in the feels every time 😇

So good to hear this at the end of Picard season 3 episode 1. Maybe, just maybe, there is hope for nutrek after all.
As a person of the 90s, I remember how much I looked forward to the 'First Contact'. Right from the theme (I always cried when I heard this) to the Borg Queen role, I was haunted by the movie.
I got to shake hands with Jerry Goldsmith backstage in 1983. He was very polite, and signed my program. A happy memory.
I love both Star Wars and Star Trek. Star Wars is fun. Star Trek is hope and what to strive for.
That’s a nice way of seeing it. I love Star Wars and it’s been a huge part of my life for years. Star Trek not much so but I always look to it as an inspiration, because Star Trek has had and always will have an inspirational feel to it that not even Star Wars could reach.
Star Wars is mythology. It speaks to who we are as people.
Star Trek is science fiction. It speaks to what we could become as a people.
Neither is inferior. Both are vital for a broad understanding of humanity.
This is one of the most hopeful and optimistic themes I've ever heard.
I remember watching this movie in theater as a young teen. This theme at 0:40, it makes me cry every time, like clockwork. So nostalgic for this time of simpler Trek.
Totally agree. Honestly I'm not hating but I really can't abide the new stuff, feels like an entirely different IP just using the names and characters.
It's just so different, the CGI, the weird swooping camera pans every 2 seconds, the script feels very "appeal to the lowest common denominator" - even watching scenes on RUclips...man I can't do it. If people like it that's cool, I'm not gonna argue or police what people like.
Seems par for the course with IP reboots tbh, it's the same feeling I get comparing the first Jurassic Park with the new stuff, or the newer Star Wars.
I don't know but some music has the power to get to the core of oneself and induce a certain
deep feeling of connect. This, for me, is one of them. What happens at 0:40 always brings tears
to my eyes because it is just THAT beautiful. I don't know where Jerry Goldsmith brought up
this sequence but it is just amazing!
The whole 'First Contact' score is fantastic and the movie equally so.
That is because he is an amazing composer. I underestimated him for decades, but I feel I was wrong. His visions are just beautiful, and this theme is a perfect example of his energy.
I could listen to this all day...
Jerry Goldsmith was such a genius. Wonderful song.
Gorgeous, one of the best themes ever, it literally paused the cinema when it begun, it was so emotional, i think people were even sniffling a bit, the French Horns nailed it. RIP JG
Jerry Goldsmith is my favorite composer. For this and others. I miss him.
2023, melody used in the season 3 Picard end theme. Absolutely gorgeous.
The theme tune of "First Contact", really hits the button with My Emotions!! In many ways as we go along the paths of our lives. We have our own 'Personal First Contact'. If you're lucky enough to find that 'one' Special 'First Contact', this them just makes it perfect... "Kapla"!!!
Only score that ever made me cry. To this day I will always tear up listening to it. Perfect for remembering the past...and perfect for a hopeful future. 2:06 drives it home
Who's here after the Picard Season 2 finale? There were themes from First Contact in that episode! Nostalgia man....gives me goosebumps to hear this again.
Right here buddy. Soon as I heard it I was smacked in the feels :(
This theme and the movie are just too gorgeous to express with mere words. I can only hope I'm alive to witness our first contact. I would hope that we can resolve our conflicts here on earth before truly moving out into space. I believe that super advanced civilizations would be peaceful explorers. This music allows me to imagine witnessing our first warp capable ship, then seeing an alien craft descend, and greeting the occupants. I am also really hoping that a species similar to Vulcans exist.
What makes you believe that contact hasn't already been made?
+J Smith With the government, it's highly likely it already has. However I'm talking about with the general public. I can understand why the government has hidden proof of ETs because I do think that many people would panic because their beliefs would be proven false. However I and many others know ETs exist and are ready to know the truth. I wish the government knew that.
Julia Crawford
If a government had proof of extraterrestrial life, it would throw the belief systems of billions of people in a direction that we haven't seen before.
A government may be inclined to naturally cover up the existence of such an earth-shattering concept.
+J Smith Yup, and if I were in a leadership position, I would probably do the same. It's just, I really want to confirm my belief that extraterrestrials exist. I would also hope that the first aliens I meet are peaceful.
Julia, trust me the government DOES know we want the truth! The idea that many people will panic if they tell the truth about ET's is a very weak and lame excuse in my opinion. Because if they admit the truth about ET's then they (the governments of the world) would lose their control over all of us. I too want to be alive for 1st contact,(or at least them finally revealing that we've already had 1st contact) and hope it comes alot sooner than the April 5th 2063 date mentioned in the movie. As to your belief that advanced civilizations are all peaceful explorers, you have to remember that the concepts of good and evil are universal. So there are bound to be bad ET's as well as good ones. This Star Trek theme is definitely one of my favorites of all of the Star Trek movies.
Watched the first episode of Star Trek Picard's third season and this was the outro😍
Thank you Jerry Goldsmith for always taking us to the final frontier of space and boldly going where no man has ever gone to before. RIP
I have seen this movie for a hundred times. My dad was a big Star Trek fan and he always watched this movie with me when I was a child. Now my dad and I have no contact anymore because he and my mum got divorced 8 years ago. Before he moved out of our flat he bought me a DVD, Star Trek-The first contact. I should watch it when I miss him and I should think of him while I'm watching the film. Now this Soundtrack makes me cry. Fantastic movie and fantastic music.
I feel a similar pain with the loss of my brother 5 years ago. My heart goes out to you. Live long and prosper!
Holy Lord I just realized this movie is 20 years old this year.
Feels like 2 weeks ago.
Yes, it is. Also, Star Trek itself is fifty years old this year.
I'm a Star Wars fan through and through but I have a special place in my heart for Star Trek as well. In fact I recently bought all ten films (Slow-Motion Picture - Nemesis). Whose to say I can't like both? :)
+Webshooters1 Indeed, although I will always prefer star trek, I still enjoy star wars when I watch it.
Thats a pretty heavy reality for those of us who saw this at the cinema! I knew I was in for something special when this theme came up on the opening credits.
Happy First Contact Day fellow Trekkies
TEARS like never ending Waterfalls ! 🙂😃
This is such a beautiful theme, and I listen to this one all the time. Star Trek First Contact was such a great Trek film. I miss TNG.
Certainly the best Star Trek Theme, I rate the First Contact soundtrack very highly indeed. Jerry Goldsmith had a gift that elevates him into the upper echelons of movie composers.
Kevin Mullen Jerry Goldsmith truly set the musical standard!!!!!!
Space....The final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new lives and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before!!
One of the best themes ever written and one of the best, to me, the best film ever produced. Some films entertain you, some make you think this or that... This one makes you believe in humanity.
This is the the best of Star Trek soundtracks. The best that the various composers ever achieved.
2:18-2:25 That cymbal crash... I get goosebumps every. single. time.
Still listening to this in 2022. Trekkie 4 Life!
I appreciate that this theme was reused for Picard S3.
The first theme sounded mysterious and melancholic, but this theme really suits the idea of looking back on his legacy.
So pleased they’ve included it in the final series of Picard, Trekkies instantly identify with this piece and if you close your eyes you can imagine The Enterprise gliding through space past beautiful nebulas ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Best score EVER for any Star Trek film/show. It's so grand and emotional and it definitely helps that it's the best ST film in the franchise, including the new ones. Here's to hoping that Star Trek 13 goes back to its roots!
I watched this film (again) last night, brilliant movie spin-off from The Next Generation series about the Borg. I loved the opening track by the brillian Jerry Goldsmith, beautifully done. This version seems to be a shorter version than the actual opening piece which has ends on that dramatic and sinister change, the original opening film score is about 4 minutes long at least.
1st star trek film i saw, never gunna forget this theme !
This is, and always shall be, the best Trek film.
I concur.
i think it ties with wrath of khan
I tied it with TMP as my top favorite trek film.
To The Exile: I hope that you meant "the next generation."
+ilttpvvm Ha, yep that's what I meant, the pun was a jest. Though I believe there was a series of pornos based on STTNG, DS9, etc., and the first was named "Star Trek: the Next Penetration." Maybe you can guess the title they came up with for DS 9...
This particular theme give so much hope for the future. I don't know how else to describe how or why, but that's the vibe I get from it when I hear it. Glad to hear it again at the beginning and the end of the first episode of Picard season 3.
Hearing this theme mixed in to season 3 of Picard made me smile so damn much
just watched first contact again yesterday and still filled up with so much emotion almost 30 years later!
