I love how this really brings out the meaning of each individual theme: TOS and TNG : Adventurous and daring DS9: stoic and brave Voyger: Lonely but optimistic Enterprise: A long road gettin' from there to here.
Pretty much every star trek theme to date, minus maybe the animated series has been absolutely amazing for reflecting on the tone of the show and the franchise as a whole, from the original series to Discovery, Picard and lower decks, it's an ever changing journey that I'm thrilled to be able to be along for the ride on

Actually the true difference is science fiction vs science fantasy. Star Trek is mostly based in fact, whereas Star Wars is more like Lord of the Rings in space. It's possible to be entertained and inspired by both. It's also possible to be a fan of both.

Seriously, using the DS9 theme and the Voyager theme as a musical call and response at 3:35 was brilliant. Then using all the themes as counter melodies to one another was bloody amazing!!!
@camero3100, I hadn't noticed the call and response until you pointed it out. Up until then I'd only picked up on the Voyager timpani roll at 3:55 prior to going into the full theme 13 seconds later. I second your "brilliant."
I noticed that, and there was a bit of it between the TNG and DS9 themes too, with those 8 notes that represent the Enterprise inserted a couple times at the start of the ds9 bit
That same actor had been in a STNG series episode too. He was leader of a world where they put their war criminals on a nearby moon. Actually, they were enhanced humans fighting for them, but when the war was over, they didn't want them running around causing trouble on the home world. An episode in series 3 I believe...
Gentelmen let us set rela life aside and try to think of realistic way to get there, without much real life events to need unfolding, and no more bloodshed to happen as well.
I think that anyone who "gets" Star Trek, I mean REALLY gets it, what it's trying to teach and the future it's trying to show us, loves it. Tomorrow CAN be better than today. We can do more as a species than exploit each other and our environment for profit or kill and oppress each other over resources and religions. We have the power to build a utopia, we together do.

I hate to burst your bubble but in order to obtain a utopia you have to destroy evil, but in order to do that you have to become that very evil yourself. So in the end, you end up becoming no different from ones who oppressed you in the first place. And religion isn't evil, it's the people who use it for the wrong reasons who are. The same goes for any form of politics, business, or an object to used to kill someone. They are only tools and ideas that are used by people for different reasons. Some are good and some bad. I love _Star Trek_ as much as as the next person but there are certain things about it that I will never agree with because of how it goes against human nature.
Bradlard Studios We won’t ever make it to a true utopia during our lifetimes, or perhaps any lifetime, because society doesn’t change on a dime just because we meet some interstellar alien race. It takes decades, centuries, for change to take hold. And when certain systems have been in place for millennia or are even inherent to mankind, they may never change at all. Currency will never be abolished, greed will never be overcome, and people will never just stop disagreeing and get along. I’m sorry, but you asked for it when you condemned realists to die in hell. We all must eventually recognize that reality is not Star Trek.
If you think I'm going to sit here for nearly 7 minutes to listen to this whole thing THEN YOU ARE DAMN RIGHT!!! I am literally laughing and crying tears of joy listening to this mix for the first of WHAT WILL BE MANY times. EXCELLENT!!

Star Trek is truly amazing. I caught all the themes: The original series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and, the most epic of all, Voyager. I listen to this all the time!
@@sgcdialler Yeah, I finally noticed it. For some reason, my brain was initially recognising it as the "leaving spacedock" from _TWOK_ . Brain fart, or what?
Thank you, Voyager was my favorite theme as a kid so I was extra careful with that one as to keep its purity intact while emphasizing the majestic quality I've always felt with it.
Samo, your version of the Voyager theme here, does indeed surpass the Jerry Goldsmith version on the TV show. I agree with all the kudos. I listen to this entire cut as often as I can.
BrettG17 After hearing this, the best John Williams could ever do if hired for Star Trek was something that sounds worse than Tom Green's "Bum Bum Song" or the Macarena compared to this epic masterpiece medley .
Thank you soooo much Sam!! I can't tell you how happy you've made me! I hold back the tears every time I listen to this. I especially love the chorus in the background...shear brilliance! It reminds me of something James Horner would do, and did do in the Titanic sound track.
I am twenty-nine years old. I have been a trekkie since I was eleven years old. Even my subatomic particles have Starfleet Insignia on them. I have loved this music since forever, it still gives me the chills because it is a symbol of what Trek stands for.
Dave V We've got STAR TREK ONLINE. They just released the 9th season (bringing back most of the original actors from Voyager as they return to the Delta Quadrant). Tim Russ returns as Admiral Tuvok and will be joined by Garrett Wang as Harry Kim, commanding officer of the U.S.S. Rhode Island. Robert Picardo returns as The Doctor and Ethan Phillips again plays Neelix (now a colony administrator) -- and most awesome of all, Jeri Ryan returns as Seven of Nine. In previous seasons they got Denise Crosby to reprise her role as Tasha Yar in the episode "Temporal Ambassador" which had a pretty good story; They have Leonard Nimoy as Spock (old Spock, who disappeared while trying to save the Romulans -- but us viewers know what really happened to him); and they are talking about getting Johnathan Frakes to come back and play Admiral Riker. If you are thirsting for more Star Trek stories, but set just a few decades further into the future, then there are now 9 seasons of stories just waiting for you on Star Trek Online --- which is FREE just in case you didn't know. I'd LOVE to wake up one day and hear that Sam Dillard has gotten a big $$$ contract to do some music for Star Trek Online -- or like you mentioned, an entirely NEW Star Trek show. Either one, just as long as we get more Star Trek, and more music from this genius composer.
***** Don't always come with "We've got Star Trek Online"! I admit, it's great, but it's a game and by far not perfect! I hope, that the next star trek movie will be good and that there'll be another series again.
Automatik I also hope the next STAR TREK movie is good. Some people complained about the new JJ Abrams movies, but I thought they were both really good. I was NOT a JJ Abrams fan, I hated almost everything he had done previously and I was definitely NOT THRILLED when I heard they had handed STAR TREK over to him, but he did a GREAT job! And now I am eager to see what we get in the 3rd film. Roberto Orci was set to direct, but as of 14 hours ago IMDB has reported that Orci is out, with no mention of a replacement --- I sure hope this does NOT turn into another Hollywood drama-fest like the one that killed the HALO move in 2008. If something does derail the movies, then we better at least get a new TV series. It would be beyond stupid for Hollywood to abandon one of the biggest and most established fan-bases ever created.
Okay, JJ Abrams did not do such a bad job, but what I hate is that he changed the ships, and the phasers, torpedoes... I would have been fine with it if he hadn't changed the original starship theme, if he wanted examples, he should'a looked on STO.
Lifelong Star Trek fan, and have worked in the film industry on Star Trek professionally as well and this is god damn bloody wonderful awesome sauce amazing brilliant. Thank you for this.
There is always that feeling of "longing/nostalgia"... and out there is so much more we can ever imagine... Star Trek made this step and I am 100% sure, it's just a small preview of our very future.
I've listened to this countless times over the past two years. I cry every single time within two minutes. Then Deep Space Nine music starts. Someday. We will all live among the stars. Why? Because we are all made of star dust.
Fantastic music from such a long running series. The iconic TOS music, the triumphant TNG music, and the absolutely wonderful intros to DS9 and Voyager are just phenomenal.
I grew up as a kid watching Star Trek with my dad up until now as a 41 year old adult. Sadly he passed away last week. He absolutely loved it and so when I heard this I just knew that I have to have this at his funeral as a tribute to him. It's beautiful and reminds me so much of the good times with him.
iMarc89 I know many people didn't like it because it wasn't a traditional trek theme but I really thought it fit enterprise as it was a different take of Star Trek
WHat did you expect from a part compsed by Jerry Goldmsith himself? Voyager's and TNG's themes are the most powerful of all Star Trek themes. And ironically Voyager is one of the best, capturing the best the essence of bold space exploration.
Voyager, although l liked it, was not my favorite series - nothing still even comes remotely close to the classic TOS, in my opinion - but l agree it had the most stirring, epic, and majestic theme of all.
I grew up on Star Trek, at a young age it taught me critical thinking skills and a strong moral compass of what was right and wrong. I found myself hoping for an optimistic future where we would finally get our shit together and see what we could really accomplish.

@@SamoStudios I loved how you used the DS9 theme as kind of a common thread for the other themes--it works especially because the first eight notes of the DS9 melody are actually the same notes of the Jerry Goldsmith TMP/TNG theme, just with different syncopation.
Whenever life beats me down, I listen to this and remember that Star Trek will forever be a part of my soul. The work of hundreds of talented people bringing to life a vision of what humanity can be. No matter how hard life can get, we will always have Star Trek to show us the way forward. That said, it breaks my heart to see that they completely destroyed that quality with the new trek. Instead of showing us what we could be, they elected to show the worst sides of humanity to us as if we don't get enough of that on the news.
I chose to believe that “Discovery” isn’t Star Trek. It bears no resemblance in spirit or tone to the preceding series in the franchise. I hope things are better for you now. Live long and prosper.
Star Trek was and is so powerful, because of the hope for a brighter future it portrayed. Kurtzman is producing a poor facsimile of Game of Thrones, and knows only how to paint a picture of needless suffering, a cavalier attitude towards death, and a future where everything is all wrong.
@@redhillstudios1701-F It was good but it didn't fix anything. Strange new worlds is still running. Discovery is still running. Lower Decks. And all of them are horribly bad.
It is a better future if you look at actual statistics about quality of life, and if you consider more access to information and resources to be a positive thing. But if you focus on the negative (and watch the evening news) you're never going to think we've arrived at a better future.
I don't know if the person who made this will see this comment, but: five years ago, I came across this video while studying for a school test, and it blew my mind. I couldn't believe one person could make something like this, and I had to learn how. Now, I'm an amateur composer and I've made several similar projects (none of them as amazing, though!) Being a huge Trek fan, I've listened to this a lot over the years, and now I'm back once more with the premiere of ST:Picard. Thank you for this!
As a self-taught musician, my work is the result of an entire lifetime of learning music and figuring out software and has certainly not been easy. But the struggle is worth it when I see comments like this, and I am honored that my work has had such an impact :)
SamoStudios Thank you for this! It’s very true, it’s not at all easy, but every time it gets overwhelming, I think of videos like this one and the pieces written by the original composers and remind myself that the end product is worth it! Music is a very powerful and inspirational thing, you never know the kind of influence it can have on someone, and that makes it so much more special😊
It's easy to be dizzy with fear when contemplating how insignificant we are in the massive endless space that is the cosmos... countless stars, comprising countless galaxies and everything drifting apart from each other. Fear and despair about the hopelessness of being alone. But when listening to THIS track.... you get such a sense of optimism... like, we don't know anything about what's out there, but we are MEANT to... we are meant to go there, if not you or me, then someone else will eventually do it. This song gives hope for humanity and the belief that we will be able to spread out and one day truly make our home among the stars.
This makes me proud to be a Trekkie, and part of Starfleet, and with the hope of a better future for the next generations. Live long and prosper. Edit on Nov. 29th, 2022 (with my cat on my lap): Hoping for society to become less selfish and aggressive, and less complicated, stupid and to strive for a better future for our children and their children, and grandchildren (and for our pets), and with a future out in our galaxy (especially if we destroy Earth anyway).

How we deal with death is just as important as how we deal with life. Kirk: romulan ale!, why bones. This is illegal! McCoy: I only use it for medical purposes
I had the same reaction for the beginning as well. Grew up with Classic and would watch it -every time it came on and i was home/shopping in stores with the TV on-, fell in love with DS9. Can't say I cared too much for the rest of the versions, but those two alone were enough to make me a Trekker forever. Beam me up, Scotty.
Last year I was diagnosed with PTSD, for weeks at a time I’ve just shut down but then I listen to this and am reminded of my childhoood and the words come to me, from somewhere deep within: “Go Boldly.” Three continents, a war, and a decade later... I’m moved to tears. To live... is to boldly go where I haven’t gone before.
Man I swear there will never be now or in the future something made like this masterpiece. It's just so inspiring and hopeful and we can only hope that earth evolve and live up to these great principles and overpass its disputes
Man Conquered the first frontier that was land. It wouldn’t take very long after for man to conquer the second frontier that was the ocean. Then man eventually conquered the third frontier that was the air. And once there were no more frontiers left on earth some people settled, some stoped exploring and gave up. But then there was those who never stoped dreaming, never stoped achieving. And eventually man set out on the 4th frontier space the final frontier, these are the voyages of the human race. Their ongoing mission to seek out that witch they have not, to achieve that witch they haven’t, to believe, discover, understand, uncover, expand, find, learn, to explore...to boldly go where no one has gone before. Let us hope these type of people the dreamers and achievers never fully go away or die out.
Thay wont, because thay are our bright stars in this darknes called Life. All above , Enterprise , is literly humanity look forward in futur , step the way no one try befor and grow to endless away !
We haven't really conquered the second frontier, we know more about the surfaces of Mars and the Moon than we know of the ocean depths. However maybe we can finally reach for the stars when we start to grow up and behave in a civilised manner towards each other. We have so much to offer, yet we spend more on destruction than we do on exploration! Maybe it will happen one day, but alas I won't be around when it does.
I hope all of humanity will appreciate this beautiful imaginations one day. :) People just care about money, never something as awesome as Star Trek. This pieces of imagination reflect on how and what great species we are, the power to dream and hope.
This is one of the best things I've heard on RUclips!!! Excellent work, you've done Star Trek proud!! For what it's worth, my favourite thing about "Enterprise" was it's theme.
It's wonderful how this musical arrangement takes many people on a journey through their memories of 'Star Trek'. The characters, actors and actresses; the effect it had on them and their families; it's cultural impacts; and not forgetting it's humour. For 6.5 minutes we are whisked away to a better place to eventually be gently set down to leave inspirational comments for others. "To all mankind -- may we never find space so vast, planets so cold, heart and mind so empty that we cannot fill them with love and warmth."
I feel that this perfectly captures the wonder and mystery of the world that Star Trek gives us. It is one hell of a future for Humans to strive for; a glorious world where the problems of today are; (at least mostly) solved and we serve as one of the founder species of the United Federation of Planets which sounds like a sovereign entity of which we haven't developed yet. If I get to pick which fictional world to live in it would definitely be the world of star trek. Alas, Star Trek Online will have to do for now.
I wish I had been born in the 23rd century so I could be part of Starfleet. Alas, it shall never be... Also, if Earth’s first starship isn’t named Enterprise, I will hurt someone.

There will always be the issue of basic human evil. There will never, I repeat, never be a utopia. If anything, the KJV Bible is proving true.

We've got STAR TREK ONLINE.

I also hope the next STAR TREK movie is good.

You must be hugely disappointed by reality and how morality and ethics have slid into the dark chasm of liberalism.

4:55 - When Voyager fades to DS9 and all other themes are merged in as well, this is just epic.
Yeah I wanted all the themes to be playing simultaneously as if part of some larger whole, was tough to figure out how best to get things to flow and sound right and I ended up using the core Trek theme as the glue to hold it all together
You did a great job. I really really like it!!
@@SamoStudios I loved how you used the DS9 theme as kind of a common thread for the other themes--it works especially because the first eight notes of the DS9 melody are actually the same notes of the Jerry Goldsmith TMP/TNG theme, just with different syncopation.
That part makes me cry
Voyager kicking in at 4:08 took this to a whole other level.
The national anthem of earth you mean. 😎
I still get chills every time I hear it.
Because that is what Jerry Goldsmith does!
Brilliant. My point exactly.
Picard season 3 fixed everything
@@redhillstudios1701-F It was good but it didn't fix anything. Strange new worlds is still running. Discovery is still running. Lower Decks. And all of them are horribly bad.
Who's here in 2021, still hoping for a better future?
It is a better future if you look at actual statistics about quality of life, and if you consider more access to information and resources to be a positive thing. But if you focus on the negative (and watch the evening news) you're never going to think we've arrived at a better future.
@@sarahberkner Evening news (and their non-evening siblings) have a vested interest in people thinking things are bad!
I am here in 2024 and still hopeful for a better future, though the present is quite stormy.
@@davidallbaugh6858I’m along with you, my dear time traveler. 👍🏻
Very positive group of comments.
Listening to this music, dreaming of new worlds and new civilizations... BEAUTIFUL!!
I don't know if the person who made this will see this comment, but: five years ago, I came across this video while studying for a school test, and it blew my mind. I couldn't believe one person could make something like this, and I had to learn how. Now, I'm an amateur composer and I've made several similar projects (none of them as amazing, though!)
Being a huge Trek fan, I've listened to this a lot over the years, and now I'm back once more with the premiere of ST:Picard.
Best part is 4:00 when the Voyager theme starts to kick in! Oh, those french horns! The whole composition is amazing, but that segment blows me away.
+Beau74 I'm partial to the strings myself. cuz I played concert violin for 10 years. But it's ALL great!!
Mrs. Phyllis Stephens Shut. Up.
Voyager💜
All the themes were amazing but for me it was the way it all goes quiet for the opening of the DS9 theme that got the bumps
Hilmar Uwe Hofmann I got goosebumps when the voyager theme came in XD
Into the stars Spock....godspeed.....we'll miss you.
amen
im cring
Spock has traveled to the Undiscovered Country.
Excellent scoring. Truly encapsulated the Star Trek television series.
I always imagined something like this would be composed for a team up film between TNG, DS9 and Voyager. Simply incredible!
the voyager theme is so awesome!
no duh
It's easy to be dizzy with fear when contemplating how insignificant we are in the massive endless space that is the cosmos... countless stars, comprising countless galaxies and everything drifting apart from each other. Fear and despair about the hopelessness of being alone. But when listening to THIS track.... you get such a sense of optimism... like, we don't know anything about what's out there, but we are MEANT to... we are meant to go there, if not you or me, then someone else will eventually do it. This song gives hope for humanity and the belief that we will be able to spread out and one day truly make our home among the stars.
The key is, we need a partnership with some Vulcan like species, guiding us.
I would love to hear this in Star Trek: Armada 3. I bet the developers would love it.
Amazing work!
Absolutely enchanting. I wish the Star Trek movies used your talent.
This makes me proud to be a Trekkie, and part of Starfleet, and with the hope of a better future for the next generations.
Live long and prosper.
Edit on Nov. 29th, 2022 (with my cat on my lap):
Hoping for society to become less selfish and aggressive, and less complicated, stupid and to strive for a better future for our children and their children, and grandchildren (and for our pets), and with a future out in our galaxy (especially if we destroy Earth anyway).
Right, each Trekkie carries a piece of Starfleet in their heart.
@@mikoto7693 yes exactly. I really like your words 😊
Chief O'Brien this is the captain, I order you to scan and isolate those humanoids who dislike this wonderful piece of music and beam them to the brig!
Picard out!
Aye Aye Captain
It's okay, there are always some borg out there XD
I don't like it cause there was hardly any TOS, TMP, or TNG in it. I can't stand the themes from DS9 or VOY. TMP>TNG>Nothing else close.
Spock: That would be the logical thing to do.
Romulan Veruuls, all of them!
Space...
The Final Frontier...
These fine ships are daring to do anything even if it mean risking their own lifes...
To Boldly go where not even a Q has gone before...
We are Starfleet, Courageous, curious, incredible, and most of all...
We are Family. Go Boldly and do whatever your perpose is in life.
How we deal with death is just as important as how we deal with life.
Kirk: romulan ale!, why bones. This is illegal!
McCoy: I only use it for medical purposes
When it transitioned into DS9, I got goosebumps
I cried.
I ASMR'd
I had the same reaction for the beginning as well. Grew up with Classic and would watch it -every time it came on and i was home/shopping in stores with the TV on-, fell in love with DS9. Can't say I cared too much for the rest of the versions, but those two alone were enough to make me a Trekker forever.
Beam me up, Scotty.
Last year I was diagnosed with PTSD, for weeks at a time I’ve just shut down but then I listen to this and am reminded of my childhoood and the words come to me, from somewhere deep within: “Go Boldly.”
Three continents, a war, and a decade later... I’m moved to tears.
To live... is to boldly go where I haven’t gone before.
Thank you for your service. 🖖
Man I swear there will never be now or in the future something made like this masterpiece. It's just so inspiring and hopeful and we can only hope that earth evolve and live up to these great principles and overpass its disputes
Mohamed Tayel I’m looking at the moon right now and just... the tears of joy... inspiration
Shivers went down my spine, and maybe... Maybe I nearly cried..
Star Trek was a dream....A hope for our united future. This should be the anthem for the space force... a United space force for a united Earth.
Wowee! ... Totally impressed thanks you for sharing!
Soundtrack of a lifetime ...
4:00 - 5:03 This should be the anthem of our earth
true... voyager theme always give me little bit a goose bump, so majestic but has the feminine side
I think Fanfare for the Common Man might fit the bill slightly better
Take a clip of the history of space exploration and play that section of the track over the top
I don't think earth is ready, yet, for an anthem ... but it's good to know we have something, just in case ...
This anthem is better than the other "anthems of earth" attempts 😅 this has a strong sound of a united earth's iron will to succeed 😎
This is one of the best things I've heard on RUclips!!! Excellent work, you've done Star Trek proud!! For what it's worth, my favourite thing about "Enterprise" was it's theme.
and the maco's
It's wonderful how this musical arrangement takes many people on a journey through their memories of 'Star Trek'. The characters, actors and actresses; the effect it had on them and their families; it's cultural impacts; and not forgetting it's humour. For 6.5 minutes we are whisked away to a better place to eventually be gently set down to leave inspirational comments for others. "To all mankind -- may we never find space so vast, planets so cold, heart and mind so empty that we cannot fill them with love and warmth."
It’s 2024 July, marvellous music.
We need a mount & blade bannerlord star trek mod or something like that
I wish I had been born in the 23rd century so I could be part of Starfleet. Alas, it shall never be...
Also, if Earth’s first starship isn’t named Enterprise, I will hurt someone.
very true we could imortal if we just reach out and grab it
This was just recommended to this 67 year old Trekker, what an awesome treatment and tribute!
You did bloody amazing! I almost cried when i heard it. It brings so much especially the DS9 theme. you did so well thank you with all my heart. and in the finest of Star trek tradition...Live long and Prosper. Qapla!
OMG!!! 4:00
That VOYAGER theme...
Heaven!
I watched TOS when first aired on TV in 1967. It was and still is one of my favorites. and they have come a long way from that first show. A very long way!👍❤️
Never thought I'd say this, but damn I miss Voyager. JJ/Kurtzman Trek can't hold a candle to any of the Roddenberry/Berman era shows.
word!
I mean Beyond was the most Star Trek thing since TOS but ok.
Tim Kerman Yes it is.
Tim Kerman The Star Trek multiverse is all part of alpha canon. Mirror universe and Kelvin Timeline both are affected and have their ties back to the Prime timeline. Kelvin is alpha canon. The Hobus Supernova is a confirmed event in Prime. Prime Spock lived and died in Kelvin. CBS even released a complete history of the Trek universe confirming the alpha canon nature of Kelvin.
Voyager wasn’t even the worst imo. Hell, I kinda miss Enterprise for still being what it was; a Star Trek show.
