After doing this show, Floor finally got some recognition here in the Netherlands.
Even my mom called me to ask if I knew her already....yes mom, 20 years ago i was at most her after forever concerts :D
Same here, perhaps we came across one another... If you had backstage access that is. ;)
Werd fucking tijd, niet?
Maar ja, rock en metal zijn vieze woorden hier op radio en tv.
Being from the US, I only got to attend that last/2007 tour, though I did make it to 3 dates on it.
@@1972LittleC Dat klopt
'yes mom, 20 years ago i was at most her after forever concerts' what was your mother reaction?
Beth gets a 10/10 for ‘trying her best to keep it together’ here. 🤭
If you're in for some more tears, you should give "I don't know a thing about love" a try. And this song has an even stronger country vibe we didn't know Floor was capable of bringing
Absolutely this, Irene helped with the interpretation of that song and it is phenomenal. Those final 2 lines, sung with the lightness and emotion she can summon are heartbreaking.
Floor's cover of 'Mama' was similarly tear-jerking.
Floor's performances of Qué Se Siente and I Don't Know a Thing About Love are also both outside her normal singing style.
Both are worth looking at if you are interested in Floor switching styles.
It was like Floor was on a mission to make artists cry on the show.
lol
Floor was on a mission alright. In the beginning, most of them didn't know who she was and kinda looked down on her being the "metal chic". After about 2 weeks, she had them (like all of us) wrapped around her pinky, making them feel whatever she wanted. I would say mission accomplished.
@@thelegendofgrumpybeard9950 Well put young man .I think you just need to look at there faces when she sang that first song .
@@thelegendofgrumpybeard9950 She's a dark Jedi, Mistress of Voice. She'll get you, one way or another.
@@thelegendofgrumpybeard9950 Well, as the people on the show knew they were going to have to sing her songs or at least to her, they had to do research ahead of time to pick what songs they might want to do. On the show they professed their amazement and admiration over what they had seen during their research. They of course had no idea what to expect, and were blown away by her. But she has made it clear she wanted to overcome the general preconceptions concerning metal.
I honestly believe Floor is the greatest singer I have ever heard, male or female. Regardless of the style/genre she is singing, she completely owns it. I don't even like this song but with Floor singing it, I can't get enough.
Look up Dimash .. with SOS or Sinful Passion. She's a good Second though ;)
I also not into Lady Gaga songs but when Floor sang it, my heart melted.
@@guarrand Nah you can't compare Dimash to her. Two different styles and two different singers, as well as the little detail that one being a MAN and the other being a WOMAN. If you want to compare, you could compare Sharon Den Adel, since they do sing similar styles and in similar bands, but Sharon is also a naturally talented singer who has that angelic voice. So, Rich, no. Don't compare a guy and girl singer. They've two different instruments they're using. Personally, I've always loved Amy Lee the most, she's always my favorite female singer (and in fact, singers overall, she's top 5 for me).
@@zaynes5094 Read the OP post again... thnx.
One of the most honest performances I have heard in a long while.
I can hear the breath behind her voice and really adds to the performance. Hairs standing up on the back of my neck. Thank you Beth for your amazing interpretation of a beautiful version.
Floor - the personification of vocal perfection, beauty and grace. Such a gift to the world, and she fronts a metal band!!!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🍿🦊🍿🤘🏻🤘🏻
You have to do Floor and Henk "Phantom of the Opera" from the same show!!
Yes!!
I already said it, but Beth said in the beginning of the video why she doesn't do The Phantom of the Opera.
@@1972LittleC don't care. She still should do it
@@danielmccormick3611
Why? She's got a point; musical songs aren't very suitable for other kinds of renditions, apart from punk rock.
So it wouldn't suit what Beth is doing.
Must do phantom
A perfect voice. Priceless delivery The woman is a master....
First line came out of Floor's mouth, and I was like. OMG, Wow~ this is a perfect song for her to do. Hard to find the words when they're this good. One of the most impressive techniques a singer can master is portraying feeling as you paint the picture for everyone. Love it~
There's something about her voice. No other vocalist can evoke physical manifestations in the form of chills, goosebumps and tears- like Floor Jansen.. We are so blessed to have her as the lead for Nightwish… all of her performances in Beste Zangers were stellar.. Thank You for the react!
NOW YOU HAVE TO DO ALL OF HER SONGS ON THIS SHOW
and all the singers!
Agree on that!
Absolutely!
yes plz Beth roars :)
This version of Shallow by Floor Jansen pulls your heart out and at the end you get it back repaired.
What the human voice can do with training, hard work and amazing material is beyond words.
Though this performance is stellar, it didn't made me cry. Though her rendition of "I don't know a thing about love", "Mama" and "winner" from the same show did. I also shed a tear during her final note of "Phantom of the opera". Also during this season every contestant she sung too had teary eyes. With the exception of Rolf Sanchez but he, as the rest of us were, ecstatic while he heard her metal/rock version of his latin song "Que se siente"
To add to your list of “things Floor can do”, she can also do growls, but she rarely does in Nightwish. That was more common in her previous band, Revamp,
She knows that, she did a reaction to WIld Card Bloodstock 2014 a while back :)
TerranigmaQuintet oh right! Sorry, I forgot about that.
She's reviewed a few of those in the past.
At this point I kind of expect her to turn out to be a virtuoso pianist, neurosurgeon, mathematician and astrophysicist. Nothing would surprise me now.
Because of Floor, I ended up watching every episode of the show. And I loved it. They are all great artists, and the idea of the show is very interesting. You need to watch the other episodes.
In the final episode (where she sang The Phantom with Henk Poort) she also sang this in duet with Tim Akkerman. That one is closer to the original and Floor goes all the way. I would like to see you compare these two versions. Oh, and do the Phantom as well. It’s THE performance of the year! Truely outstanding.
Yeah, thought this was the most impressive and impactful song she did on the show for many of the reasons you mentioned. It was different from what she usually does plus the cover itself was a different take on the song, yet she couldn't have done it any better. Glad you reacted to this, even if you already saw it. Didn't need much of a reason to rewatch the performance :)
If you have time, Denise Hofs translated all episodes of beste zanger of this year. Too long to react to, but you might really enjoy watching it for yourself. You can see a nice mix of artists performing eachothers music (or music that is meaningful to them) for each other. This year has a really nice lineup.
Also if you ever wondered what a (prog) metal opera sounds like, you should have a look at Ayreon. (e.g. The day the world breaks down)
Support Ayreon.
About Ayreon, I totally concur. Fact is I requested this particualr Ayreon song regularly a while back, I also requested "Everybody Dies" and "Valley of the Queens". Because Beth had made reaction videos to many bands who's singers also appear on Ayreon albums. But I have a feeling she already is familiar with Ayreon by now.
yup Ayreon please
How can anyone listen to this without crying...😭 Floor is my pick for the BEST singer ever! Love her. 🥰
I swear I shed a tear seeing you in tears Beth. It was indeed impactful, the way Floor sung that song. Artistry indeed.
I've seen this tens of times and I still get emotional ❤️ She's just so beyond amazing ❤️ And yet, I'm a fellow from the land of Nightwish, just turned 50, fan of her, NW and all She does 🤗 Old (?) fan of NW with Tarja, but I have to say She's something... else 🤗
Beth.., you just have to react to Floor's performance of winner!!! Please!
One of the best reactions to this song and one of the best you have ever done. First, love the fan reactions, you feel Floor when she sings and you reacted like a true die-heart fan, BUT Second, a great technical analysis of the work that went into this adaption of the song to fit what Floor wanted to do with it. Her duet with Tim and this song was different, while still amazing, I prefer her solo version as the real tour de force as the emotional crushing and soul wrenching version that grabs you and shakes you till she finally lets go and you are drained!! I loved the "artist" comparison as Floor really did construct this song like an artist and it was tremendous (hit #1 on the Dutch I-Tunes list within 24 hours so you are spot on). Floor really is more than a vocalist, rather a true performer and I don't mean dancing etc, but an "artist" who uses her gift to perform in an emotional way that just forces you to react to her song no matter what. Honestly, even her die-heart fans have been stunned by her performances on this show. She has gone from Valkyrie Goddess of Metal to full on Goddess of Music period!!
WOW that was an emotional reaction, thanks, liked it a lot!
This version was got me too, what Floor did to make this song sound more light but still powerful at the same time was amazing and clever imo. I love her voice tones and her voice control, combined with her expression and body language in this performance make this song version hard to beat by any covers.
Love how passionate you are Beth, keep up the great work x
Yes, I adore this cover version too. Floor is brilliant, warm, and heart-breaking. This version never fails to amaze me.
A total floorgasm ...... she floored me instantly
So you tube decides to recommend this to me..even though i have already watched it and liked it. But I was like hey its Beth and Floor..... Note, I rarely even listen to this style of music, the R&B/pop thing....Floor is a musical goddess. Every time she goes into that first transition where she ups the power of her vocals, right at the end of that part she hits a note...and I get full body chills every time. She is beyond amazing. And the effect of the Floorgasm never wears off...It "Floors" me every time...
You are so adorable and great. Tearing up the entire video... I feel you my dear! Floor is absolutely phenomenal!
been a fan of her's since her teenaged years with after forever. her ability to sing anything is her most amazing quality.
Cant remember if i saw you like this before, so emotionally.
Good job Beth, Floor is a blessing
Really really liked your reaction! A proffessional vocal coach who knows what it takes to sing this song the way Floor did.
Pointing out what she is doing and showing her emotions when doing it.
I didn't know Floor did a cover of this so it's nice to see it. She is an amazing singer, and Nightwish is lucky to have her.
Again : Floor is a precious gift to this world.
Thank you it was an amazing performance. I agree as fantastic Phantom was this was very special. It’s a masterclass. Great reaction 😃👏🏻
Great review, you disected the whole song and Floors capabilities .....loved it!
I agree with you Floor gave this rendition a delicacy and tenderness that is all her own. You cane up with the perfect word, Artistry! When Floor performs a song it becomes an aural work of art, far beyond just singing! Beautiful reaction video Beth!

I would love to hear Floor sing The Rose, that would have been awesome! Thanks for a great reaction by the way! 👍
I love the songs you “react” to but, I have to say, I could listen to your deconstructions for hours. Your passion for what you do is self evident, and the way you describe a singers voice is truly wonderful and always positive. Love this channel! Rahr.
Floor can play your heartstrings like a heavenly harp that exquisitely vibrates your soul. Hence the tears. You get them, I get them, pretty much everyone gets them. What a woman! Thank you for your reaction, well done!
I loved it!!! You really need to do Henk performing The Sound of Silence for Floor!!! He’d never done distortion before, but he did it for her with 2 hours of practice 😁 Seriously, you also have to watch Floor just melt while he sings to her 😎
Tears!!! Wow Floor is amazing!! Love her voice!!
Finally. I've been waiting for your reactions to these Beste Zangers 2019 songs by Floor. 👍
Great reaction to Shallow Sang by the Amazing and Talented Floor Jansen the one Winner from the same show.
such a professional comment, Beth, love it, even more with your face impression, lovely to watch u. Thanks!!
I loved with what you said abou Floor's performance here, spot on. Thanks for your lovely reaction too Coach 👍
You really need to do Floor and Henk doing Phantom of the opera. Same show! quickly!
Beth told already why not, and I think she has a legitimate reason for it.
@@1972LittleC hmm i haven't heard that reason. where was it?
@@Dralace she talked about it in this video before she starts the reaction.
@bertasu you mean that opinion that it was better than tarja's version or what do you mean?
@bertasu well.. i'm not expert, but i have 25 years of experience with music and making music and as for the performance i did not found anything alarming. Floor is professional singer and she did the song her way. And the way she delivered the song was exellent. It wasn't meant to be "perfect" because she IS metal singer not fully classical. You yourself should consider that too.
Sonata Arctica is touring with Nightwish next year. I totally want Floor and Tony to do this song since they have sung together before and Tony's voice can hit you in the feels big time. Tallulah a freaking heartbreaking song. Floor can growl Yours Is A Empty Hope.
This song was written for Lady Gaga, but it was always meant for Floor... I cry every time.. it's perfection
Seeing you enjoy yourself that much is utterly charming.
Those beautiful eyes of yours miss Beth... They got instantly in tears... I love how you enjoy what you do
I’m so glad you got to react to floor in this singing series. Please do mama next from the same series.
I get shivers every time I hear this song sung by Floor
This version was got my teary eyes too, that's one of many reason why she is a great singer and true artist, even it's just a cover but still feels connected to the song.
From all the vocal coaches that I'm subscribe to.. you have the sweetest voice to listen to...
Also I love the reactions from the people watching... Henk is proud and emotional, the rest are just blown away
Nice review coach. You're right Floor Jansen is not only a great singer but she's also a true artist. It's not easy to change it and make it different from the original but completely owned it, technically and emotionally.
Omg I enjoyed your reaction! So real and sensible! Greetings from Argentina
love your reactions
I have been to a show of her's on January 26th. This was also on the set list. I can relate to that guy with tears in his eyes! I was sitting right in front of the stage and having been lucky to get accreditation, I have been able to get some great shots of her. No need to say I had a great evening.
Yes please more from this season of Beste Zangers.
Beth - REALLY good choice to review. I've never been a big fan of Floor's voice but you're so right - she is much more versatile than I imagined. As always - nice job and kudos for the direction you take developing content!
It is tim efor Phantom of the Opera with Floor and Henk from the same show. Absolut great and after that you are speechless.
Every single Performance of her on this show is Gold with Diamonds sprinkled on top 😍❤🌹 And she sing the Phantom with her long time Idol Henk Poort: Henk Poort is a 63 year old Dutch Opera Baritone Opera singer who can alsoo sing Tenor, He said in this show he did 30 Operas 26 Opperettas and about 10 Musicals and a bit of acting. He onley began his classical training age 26. But long before that he sang as a non-proffesional and stood out amongst the rest. First he learned to craft Biljarts Tables. They offered him to finish the "conservatorium" two years early because by that time he allready was doing Operas in Germany. He alsoo lived in Italy for 15 years. Floor Jansen was a fan of him since she was 11 or 12 hearing him sing in the dutch Phantom of The Opera 😎👏👍 If you have more questions about Henk Poort feel free to ask. I think It is so her to do that 😜😍 Floor Jansen, Queen of Mix Voice 😁 If you like Henk Poort you should check out his cover of "The Sound of Silence" on this same show 👀🎶🌹
Lovely reaction, this one is my favorite version of Shallow 👍
My favorite singer ..period!
thank you beth, love you and your reactions
Beth, I can not sing a note but being an American, I am in love with your accent and can listen to you talk all day! Another reason I watch your Podcast. Also you are pretty damn smart and I am learning the technical aspects of singing. Not being a creep here but You have the most beautiful hair! Ok, enough Fan boy moments 🤩😆. From Florida, United States, you have my full attention and I love music and your breakdown of the songs I love.
Thanks Marc. New season of the podcast is out. Check out the first episode here: shows.acast.com/goodjob/episodes/joshua-alamu
You are both wonderful, love you both.
Floor is the Dutch GRAND MASTER REMBRAND of Singers.
I saw the lump in your throat. You are a genuine reactor. I am a 75 year old male and this song, and WINNER well my eyes up from start to finish. Floor is excellent for sending messages with her beautiful versatile voice. Thank you Beth.
when the floorplay builds you up to a perfect floorgasm
What is great about your perspective is that you understand technique BUT after a point you explode into feeling and emotion.:)
I have never written a comment on this type of content. But after listening to lots of "Vocal Coach reacts to ..." and then listening to how they sing themselves, I just want to say: with the exception of "Elizabeth Zharoff" you are the only one who also has a beautiful voice and dares to show it on your own channel.
Good for U! And keep up the good work!
You should listen to Floor in After Forever her first and my favorite band of hers.
Floor is perfect, there's nothing she can't do. She makes you headbang, cry, laugh. She's amazing.
Floor and Henks phantom of the opera needs to just be listened to we all have the same reaction Its Floor and Henk its going to be beautiful just thinking about it
Love the way you talk about technique!
Lovely reaction from a lovely lady, thank you.
Nice reaction and nice review from this song version, thank you coach👍
omg goose bumps tears cant stop watching
ps when i sing dogs cry cats run away even my monitor cracks so i leave that to the pro's
She expresses a strength with power and yet at the same time there is fragility and vulnerability when she performs this song. It is like she is channeling the character from the movie but projecting that character through herself as Floor. So expressive and wonderful. She is truly quite talented
YES you have to do all the songs from this show . Then do a separate video reacting to and explain the best bits please .
Is there any song that she can't sing, Beth? What a talented woman. Love her!
And then I cried. Damn. Don´t care about original, but this was from another world.
💛
How can you not hold back tears when listening to her.
💛
Love the reaction/analysis, Beth! When I get back on your Patreon I'm going to request another song (I know you have TONS to get through, but this might catch your ear anyway): Valley of the Queens, Ayreon featuring the trio of Floor Jansen, Anneke van Giersbergen, and Marcela Bovio... Three amazing singers, one song! Even if you can't do a reaction to it right away, look it up for a listen sometime for your own enjoyment. Plus its got a woodwind solo! Who can say no to that??
Floor and henk singing phantom of the opera was just overwhelming
You should check the whole series. All singers on the show are amazing.
I am so glad you choice this song. I love the version she sings with tim more though. Tim is an amazing singer too.
Try the "Phantom Of The Opera" , also from this show. It's AMAZING!
Why do I have to cry when I hear her? It's amazing
I think you should react to every other song she sang on this show... It wouldn't hurt right?
Thanks you are great Beth 💖💖
It almost sounds as if she's sitting by the bedside, singing it as a lullaby.
she got me,three years now, first time i heard her,i was sleeping and woke me up!!!:-)...you should react to every performance of her in beste zangers, worth to,she is amazing!!!
You really need to see her performance of "winner". It was the most exhilarating and emotional before she did the whole season for me. Also, you can watch her sing "about love I don't know if thing". She uses her breathy tones in an amazing way there too.
