    Very VERY good guide. Can confirm, keep the voltage at requested levels, it will deflect 90 percent of the problems with electronics. S klasses are made to EAT kilometers, not to sit in the parking lot for more than 2 weeks. While buying this, i seriously recommend to take a mechanic with PROPER mercedes benz diagnostics, where you can check all the functions. Without this tool, you wont be able to tell if the airmatic is working properly, there are pre-scripted test in the software to check if everything is OK. DONT look at the mileage, look at the overall shape. they are meant to be driven long distances, so dont get scared. Cloged dpf and egr are a result of short distance travels, it will also tell you a lot about the shape of the transmission. This will also shown in the diagnostics. You can also check WHEN the oil was changed and HOW MUCH has been changed, it all shows in diagnostics. Problem in my country ( slovakia) is that there are two types of mechanics: the first smaller group will honestly tell you, they have little experience with mercedeses ( or they dont have proper equipment/diag ), the second, larger group will tell you they have no problem fixing it while having NO experience or tools. They will f*ck your benz. Dont fear genuine services. Gear, diff fluids i would recommend to do by them, oil and filter change can be done by everyone. Geometry and brakes also done by genuine merc service. Especially geometry must be done in certail level of the airmatic pillows.

    Don’t drive one or you will fall in love. They drive amazing. I have a 2010 and spend several thousand every year to maintain. I justify this by the fact I drove a 100k car when it was new for a few hundred a month and it still drives better than most brand new luxury cars… it is smooth as silk, engine, trans shifts smooth. My 13 year old paint still looks better than 3yo Hyundai, interior quality is just second to none. Buy one pay the maintenance and enjoy. These cars will be obsolete as electric appliance cars become the norm.

    When I drive in London with my 2013 CL500 at some point in traffic all the safety systems fail all together. After some driving and restarting the car, all the messages are gone, back to normal. One of the possible causes according to the manual is:
    -the radar sensor system is temporarily inoperative, e.g. due to electromagnetic radiation emitted by nearby TV or radio stations or other sources of electromagnetic radiation.
    Do you think this is due to the new 5G poles we have in London? It fails only in one specific area in London. Never when driving up the motorway away from the big city.....

    Anyone what would you recommend? Should I buy the (w221) mercedes S65 (v12 biturbo) for $29,000 or a (w205) mercedes C class 4matic for $22,000? They are both pre owned. I kinda want the S63 but it Idk if maintenance and reliability wise it will be too much work and money spent. At this point I'm deciding between reliability and im not sure which to choose?

    W221 owner here, one big thing not mentioned here the engine computer (ECM) is a known failure point of this car. Just search ME9.7 failure. Seems like it’s been happening more as these cars reach the 13yr mark. Anyway only way to fix is to get a replacement cloned. It can solve random throttle body failure code p2112 and p2101

    My father really wanted the W221. After looking at countless models the realisation was to go with M276. The diesels are just too far gone and the 272 273s are just on so high milage at this point that you cant cruse reliably. We found one with shit tonn of equipment from 2012 and bought it for 20k EUR
    It had 240 000km and the guy only drove it on the highways, instead has a smart for city tours. Seams like my dad is fine with it. The dark grey color looks quite nice with all the led lights and amg trim. No turbos is in my opinion better. Also preatty good gas milage. Recommend you to buy rich people cars feom rich people since you know he sidnt skip on maintenance, all done at the idependant well known shop for mercedes in the city. Guy was selling it bc he just got the new S class.
    The drive comfort is incomparable to the C class, i drive the W205 C220d and oh boi even tho my is newer from 2016 S is just an S

    Did the S65 receive the same engine as SL65 after the 2012 facelift?
    If so, the coil packs will no longer be an issue afterwards because the new engine switched to individual coils per cylinder.

    • @differentcarreview-dcr
      @differentcarreview-dcr  4 года назад +4

      no, the S65 still had the older M275-complex coil pack, while the SL65 got the newer M279 which as you said has individual coils

    • @dannyz955
      @dannyz955 4 года назад

      Hmm interesting. I was wondering because the facelifted S65 did have more horsepower. Thought the M279 upgrade could explain that.

    Does anyone know what is the rattle noise at WARM start? At cold start it is always fine. However, if you turn off the engine and turn it on again while the engine is still warm, there is a load rattle noise from the driver side and it lasts only 1-2 seconds. After that everything is fine.
