its a good car, I owned a 2016 320d for 8 months, brake fluid cable clip snapped front light banister module failed water leaks on the rear right side floor mat changed the upper and lower control arms this was all done in my first week of owning it besides that I really enjoyed the car
I’m very handy with my hands and knowledgeable about BMWs it all depends on your options obviously if you get a fully loaded one that’s 2014+ mostly stick with models that are n55 and B58 then most of the problems that were mentioned are very unlikely, and the aftermarket support is great, most plastic parts can be replaced with better material, stay on maintenance ,always have money on side just like with any car nothing is guaranteed even if it’s Japanese brand. Enjoy your ultimate driving machine
You forgot the synchronizing rings issue with the manual transmission, forcing you to get the whole transmission changed under the warranty. Otherwise, awesome video as always. Please never stop.
I would say, when buying one it's all about service history and buying one that has been meticulously maintained, yes the earlier M47 & M57 (diesel) engines could be neglected a bit and still be very reliable, but the later engines if looked after and serviced correctly are still great engines
You are not fucked, don't worry. There are horor stories about every single car from every single car maker but you would be suprised how careless people can be with the maintenance, and how hard and stupid they treat their cars. My advice for you is to stick to the service manual and change everything what BMW says that needs to be changed on certain mileage. And forget about changing the oil each 30 000km, that is waaaay to long even if you drive it on highways only. Oil and filters are the cheapest thing to invest in a car drivetrain but they provide you good reliability on the long run....
Quality went up actually. Look at F10 vs E60 quality for example, the F10 is way better. Or the equivalent 7-series where the F01 is pretty damn good and if you ask anyone in the know if you should buy an E65 they shout at you for even thinking about it.
I bought a 318d last month and i can say that its a good reliable car . Every car has its own fault , main thing you have to check is the timing belts other than that you wont face any issues with this car.
How about the korean cars are they any good, id like to purchase a 320d 2012 120000 km. is this a good choice or should i chose a specific year or any other diesel engine. thanks.
since these are cheap, my friend said he's thinking of buying one. he only makes like $2,000 a month, not really a smart choice to buy a maintenance-heavy car
Not that I could find, looked for one extensively... figured it wasn't offered as an option. F31 335i did have the option as I did find a couple of those but even they were mega rare and poorly specced, as well as being pre-LCI.
BMW builds them as cheaply as they can get away with. Which is pretty cheap given the gullibility of the public who buys these under engineered overpriced shit heaps
@@kristoffer3000 plastic radiators, plastic water pumps, plastic hoses, door cards that fall off, and so many other things. Sorry to introduce you to reality
@@kevinbarry71 You think all plastic is the same?.. It has been industry standard for over 30 years without much issue, I get that it's a talking point for people that have no idea what they're talking about but cmon...
@@Rimkus7 I own an F20, practically the same car. It's been perfectly reliable for 1.5 years so far, even has the so-called worst engine, the N13B16 with a remap. Oh and it's got 200k km's on it and it has not been cared for well by all the previous owners. Look at statistics, they were the literal best in their class for reliability when they were new and have a VERY good reputation on the used market, you might not like it but those are just straight up facts. Yeah they have a lot of different things that can break but they do so rarely, don't mistake number of possible issues for things being likely to break.
@@kristoffer3000 Your particular car being reliable for you is a sample size of 1. It means nothing. And i would like to see the statistics you've mentioned, because a quick google search results overview on reliability, does not paint the "reliable" picture. Even in this video, stuff like sunroof drains clogging up and water leaking into interior, that is common issue on ALL vehicles from all manufacturers, but this model has advanced stuff like drain hoses popping off lol. Also broken dipstick plastic?! Come on... How often do you see that as a possibility on other vehicles?
@@Rimkus7 You see that fairly often actually, most people just don't know about it and don't mention it. And yeah, I brought up statistics for a reason, I know my anecdote in the big picture means nothing but I brought my car up because I own one so I know what I'm talking about. If you want proper problems then look at for example a Jaguar X-Type where the drains rot the car out BY DESIGN, water literally pools in the rocker panel that is unpainted and untreated metal on the inside.

He is back! Best channel on youtube,

Waiting for your take on G30 🙏
your editing is on point!
best F30 vid out there. thanks very much.
Love your channel! Recently sold my Audi A4 B8 2l TDI. I drove it for 5 years without any major problems and thanks to your video I did buy the best.
And thanks for preventing me from buying F30 XD

I agree. I have the 2015 N55. Bought in 2021. Done some preventative maintenance along the way. Car keeps me busy and I enjoy that.
Preventive rod bearing replacement at 150k km 😂
Fuck that, I'm keeping my Kia
Most helpful used car mechanical and general info I've found!
After watching this video not sure if I would like to own a F30 BMW :D

Why this guy isn't at 100k subscribers?
27:29 😂 Timing chain jump was so hilarious.
My hero in car reviews ❤
Bmw N55 rod bearing problem is common caused by oil sump / starvation, in track day use or higher G cornering.
Glad to see you back! Do you ever plan on making a video about the DS5?
Very good video my friend. I am waiting for a review of the Mercedes w205. Thank you!

Could you do a video on the BMW 1 series issues?

how many problems do you have?
