Very VERY good guide. Can confirm, keep the voltage at requested levels, it will deflect 90 percent of the problems with electronics. S klasses are made to EAT kilometers, not to sit in the parking lot for more than 2 weeks. While buying this, i seriously recommend to take a mechanic with PROPER mercedes benz diagnostics, where you can check all the functions. Without this tool, you wont be able to tell if the airmatic is working properly, there are pre-scripted test in the software to check if everything is OK. DONT look at the mileage, look at the overall shape. they are meant to be driven long distances, so dont get scared. Cloged dpf and egr are a result of short distance travels, it will also tell you a lot about the shape of the transmission. This will also shown in the diagnostics. You can also check WHEN the oil was changed and HOW MUCH has been changed, it all shows in diagnostics. Problem in my country ( slovakia) is that there are two types of mechanics: the first smaller group will honestly tell you, they have little experience with mercedeses ( or they dont have proper equipment/diag ), the second, larger group will tell you they have no problem fixing it while having NO experience or tools. They will f*ck your benz. Dont fear genuine services. Gear, diff fluids i would recommend to do by them, oil and filter change can be done by everyone. Geometry and brakes also done by genuine merc service. Especially geometry must be done in certail level of the airmatic pillows.

Excellent review. I really wanted a 2012/2013 S350L but after watching your video I decided to stay out of the kitchen hahaha. I also watched your other video of the BMW F01 review. Is the reliability of BMW 7 series F01 much better than the S Class W221 or ths video is just phenomenal better than the other one?
When I drive in London with my 2013 CL500 at some point in traffic all the safety systems fail all together. After some driving and restarting the car, all the messages are gone, back to normal. One of the possible causes according to the manual is: -the radar sensor system is temporarily inoperative, e.g. due to electromagnetic radiation emitted by nearby TV or radio stations or other sources of electromagnetic radiation. Do you think this is due to the new 5G poles we have in London? It fails only in one specific area in London. Never when driving up the motorway away from the big city.....
I bought a 2008 S550 in great apparent condition with only 50k miles. Within the first 10k miles, I replaced the air compressor for the suspension ($1000), brakes ($1800), tires ($880) then two front air shocks, L/R control arms, starter (and battery) and a disc in the transmission ($4400). She drives and rides like new but after watching this video, I don't even want to think about what's next.
In india, you can see this merc s class EVERWHERE LITERALLY EVERYWHERE some indian car guys are mad at this car. They rather tune, rice or convert to AMG model. You can rarely see a riced s class in traffic. I live in mumbai so I don't know about other states of India but in mumbai you can see this car everywhere even parked at "no parking" area. It's price is above 10,000$/10 lakh rupees in india. And it's a great car but too common here! And your video was so simple and perfect for s class buyers even I will think about these tips you have gave me before buying s class so thanks buddy🙏
My father really wanted the W221. After looking at countless models the realisation was to go with M276. The diesels are just too far gone and the 272 273s are just on so high milage at this point that you cant cruse reliably. We found one with shit tonn of equipment from 2012 and bought it for 20k EUR It had 240 000km and the guy only drove it on the highways, instead has a smart for city tours. Seams like my dad is fine with it. The dark grey color looks quite nice with all the led lights and amg trim. No turbos is in my opinion better. Also preatty good gas milage. Recommend you to buy rich people cars feom rich people since you know he sidnt skip on maintenance, all done at the idependant well known shop for mercedes in the city. Guy was selling it bc he just got the new S class. The drive comfort is incomparable to the C class, i drive the W205 C220d and oh boi even tho my is newer from 2016 S is just an S
I've had 2 new (German) M-B's...never again. Switched to Lexus and will never return to any German product...EVER. And, yes, both were maintained by the book at a dealership eager for my business with a service manager whom I knew.
@@koscocosco5309 YES. It was an MB Certified Master Tech who told me to get rid of the last one and to buy a Lexus instead. When I was spending my own $$$, I did. Great advice. I remember that 2 arrived from Germany with factory defects. One required the replacement of major engine components on the first service visit. One couldn't be fixed by the dealer and they called in the regional service rep. who was able to repair the car. They left me stranded on numerous occasions. Even the dealer's loaner S-Class left me stranded once.

Only buy an old W221 if you are rich (wich is unlikely, because why would a rich guy buy an old car?) or you can do most tepairs your self
Awesome video! I really appreciate your work👍👍
We don’t even resell them when taken in trade. They go right to the auction, regardless of mileage.
Was considering a W221, but not after this. Thanks. Great video.
buy a w222 S 350 Diesel w.258 Hp and 625 Nm torque,abt 8 litres on 100 km,a very fine driver.
Guys a lot of this can be dealt with by purchasing one if very good condition. Also I would save up enough money to cover the common issues around $5,000 after that the car is actually one of the most reliable mercedes
Excellent review. I really wanted a 2012/2013 S350L but after watching your video I decided to stay out of the kitchen hahaha. I also watched your other video of the BMW F01 review. Is the reliability of BMW 7 series F01 much better than the S Class W221 or ths video is just phenomenal better than the other one?
very informative guide, great job!
I‘m on about 105.000 miles on my S350 W221 pre facelift and it still drives like new
Minor sensor issues here and there but nothing else
Very good and informative video! Can you make one on Mercedes Benz W204 Facelift Model?
Thanks for the information, I laughed throughout the whole video!😂

Great indepth review 👍🏽
When I drive in London with my 2013 CL500 at some point in traffic all the safety systems fail all together. After some driving and restarting the car, all the messages are gone, back to normal. One of the possible causes according to the manual is:
-the radar sensor system is temporarily inoperative, e.g. due to electromagnetic radiation emitted by nearby TV or radio stations or other sources of electromagnetic radiation.
How are you doing? Everything OK with your car?
how is the car doing now
Yay your back 💪
Love your work bro
Best review online 👌 👏
Respect, very detailed
Great video! You're a funny guy. Knowledgeable...but funny.
Perfect review!
Great content thank you!
Wonderful review. Awesome
My father really wanted the W221. After looking at countless models the realisation was to go with M276. The diesels are just too far gone and the 272 273s are just on so high milage at this point that you cant cruse reliably. We found one with shit tonn of equipment from 2012 and bought it for 20k EUR
It had 240 000km and the guy only drove it on the highways, instead has a smart for city tours.
We're they that problematic?
@@koscocosco5309 YES. It was an MB Certified Master Tech who told me to get rid of the last one and to buy a Lexus instead. When I was spending my own $$$, I did. Great advice. I remember that 2 arrived from Germany with factory defects. One required the replacement of major engine components on the first service visit. One couldn't be fixed by the dealer and they called in the regional service rep. who was able to repair the car. They left me stranded on numerous occasions. Even the dealer's loaner S-Class left me stranded once.
Wow! So helpful!
Great video
Brilliant!

What is your verdict overall on this car , as far as what i have heard its reliable and don’t break up often.
I am considering buying non abused 07-09 s550 with less than 80k kms or less than 50k miles ( japan imported)
