I just sold my s class. I miss it allot! Not many people know about this generation as much as I can research. Watching this video I have to say everything here is a fact. Currently looking to get another s class so if anyone has the 6.2 AMG in the UK hit me up!
I love my 2009 s550, I bought it with 77,000 miles and only has 90,000 now. I recently purchased 22” brushed face alloy wheels which I can’t wait to install.
Great review! I own an S65AMG and an S63AMG V8 BiTurbo Performance pack. The W221 is my fav S class Mercedes that’s why I bought a prefacelift and a facelift model. I also used to own an S600 W221. Out of 3 models, the S65 V12 BiTurbo engine is something special! The V8 BiTurbo is not far from the V12 power wise but no other car sounds as good on start up as the V12 and once you’re doing over 60mph, the V12 is in a different league!
@@MarioDarnadi If you get one that’s been looked after, they can be very reliable. When things go wrong, they can be expensive to buy parts or get work done to it but it is expected as it is a V12 after all. It’s not the same as running a V6 diesel or even the V8 S500. The only common things that tend to go wrong with the V12 is the coil packs. They last around 60.000 miles. Make sure you service the ABC system and it will keep functioning as intended. Apart from these two things, it’s just like any other S class. Unfortunately, the dealers ask a lot of money for parts and labour because of the three letters, AMG. For me, its is the best S class to own
I just purchased this vechicle 2013 a few months ago, I used to drive a 2011 DTS 300HP for 20 years, this is my first Mercedes, if their are any issues I need to be aware please comment, so I can keep up of things.
My 07 S-550 is the best car I’ve ever owned. Nothing expensive, got 110K miles. Every other S-class Mercedes I’ve owned has needed struts by 90K miles. This is my 5th one. I love this car!
Excellent report but I believe there were issues with the plastic swirl flaps in the induction manifold of my 2006 W221 350V6 petrol. I was told that they can break up and be ingested by the engine and cause major problems
i hav a rear imported w221 s500 amg 5.5l v8 lwb affalterbach on a private plate ! rear body kit ! 420+hp normally aspirated ! never seen 1 before till got mine ! special badging ! i want to sell it ! its an amazing car !
Just did a bit of maths and the ones I’ve checked seem OK. Maybe it’s just because I’m using Imp (U.K.) gallons? That are bigger than U.S gallons (4.54 litres = 1 U.K./Imperial gallon) Or is it the S63? There was so much debate on mpg that when converting to L/100km I just took the middle of the range (17mpg)? 👍
Be prepared to replace the radiator. Replace the struts very, very soon. If you wait over a month to replace the struts, you will have a low rider. Don’t add 22 inch wheels or they will crack over 1 or 2 pot holes. When opening the hood, close it by holding the hood over the headlights. Don’t close it by holding the grille or the grille will crack or break. Don’t open the sun roof all the time or it will make noises when opening. This car maintenance isn’t expensive but it’s not cheap either. I’ve had a 08 s 63 Amg and 2011 s 63 Amg. Totally different cars
My S65 is unbelievable. These can be tuned to well over 700 hp. Cold start is...what did the hottie sales girl down at the MB dealer call it?...oh, yeah...a "panty dropper".
Is this really titled: Avoid Common Faults and Problems? How about Chronic faults: "Everything to do with the farcical S400 Hybrid system"!!! Mercedes covered up all Generated/Charging system failures which are a very expensive design failure! I can't believe you didn't mention the S400 and didn't say a single word about the major issues that turned this car into an expensive driveway ornament! Why? Did Mercedes sponsor this video, because I find it hard to understand why you mention everything benign that can go wrong, but ignore something that can cost you $15,000 to repair, strange really!
Only bad thing is that you have to order your parts all the time if you live in the US but reliable. Especially if you take care or it. Oil and tune ups on time will do that

Hi could you tell me more about the S65 ? like how much it breaks down ? is it solid for daily drive ?

What a wonderful review of my dream car 😮
I really miss my C216 CL500 and W221 S63, after being able to drive almost every possible car, the S-Class is always unmatched

Some of the l/100 km numbers seem oddly high compared to the MPG numbers.🤔

how reliable is the 2012 S550 as a first car?
If you have to ask, you can't afford maintaining it.

less electronics than W222, should be more reliable, no?
