  • Once nicknamed l-“Għasafar taċ-Ċomb”, Air Malta has been part of our national pride for many years. However, after many years of losses, the national airline needs a Government bailout to survive. In under 5 minutes, we explain how Air Malta got here and what its future may be.

Bailouts haven't worked before and they won't now. Airmalta must be sold to a private entity if malt is to make airtravel affordable. State funded monopolies always become a political failure and eventually do get privatized.
Private companies can hire and fire people and it is standard practice. Government cannot do such a thing with ease, which makes such state funded businesses very uncompetitive internationally.
This will be 290M euros wasted as we eventually will end up with a foreign company running this airport since nobody Maltese can afford it.

Air Malta failed themselves, read online reviews, it’s one of the worst airlines in the world.
