This is in response to those who put a "thumbs down" on this post: this is why protestors will continue to flood the streets of America and around the world...because the hateful energy and depravity that define you will never, ever impede the momentum of justice that is long over due African Americans or erase our humanity.
I support the protests entirely. But I don't support the Violent ones. Who riot destroying homes, businesses, and peoples lives as revenge for a issue that is currently being solved. One step at a time.
It's the same thing as seeing bullying, then punching a bystander who had nothing to do with it, just because your mad at the bully.
You can't change the system if you dont destroy the root of the problem itself.

That part about the supreme court judges dont see him as a lawyer, but the client suspect. This is how it is going into a high end store. Nobody can see you as a customer. They only see you as a person serving customers or a thief.

He didn't mean the supreme court judges did that, but that even after litigated before the supreme court, there were still lower court judges who didn't recognize him as an attorney. By the time an attorney gets before the Supreme Court, they will know who he is. In lower courts, attorneys wind up before judges who don't know them.

@@vermithrax7796 You'd need have the exact proof that laws are interpreted in a biased way, that despite the fact that from left to right of the political spectrum people are talking about racism and how they stand against, there would still be some ingrained in the "system". I think the Law is treated with all due respect and what you see that offend you is probably what's naturally left (and that is hard to eliminate for every human being is entitled to). It is interesting to know that a black law enforcer or judge is still likely to act against a black person just the way a white one would? I think the matter is more cultural than racial, for if it is, people fighting endlessly against racism will be fighting a void and doing so, probably will create more, like it happened with any ideology on earth. So it would be wise of them to choose their battle instead of jumping on easy conclusions. That was my so-called racial "hegemonic stand", sir.
When I was deployed in Iraq, someone in my unit told me that they better not catch me in their county when they get out of the Army. Because he's going to become a police officer and he's going to get me. I hear people standing up for the police and acting like everything is made up about what us black people say about them. Why would someone I work with say things like that to me if it's not true. There was other things said around me while I was in Iraq from people in my unit equally messed up a very racist. Can you trust racist people with weapons to have your back? Probably not but when you in the military there's no help for this type of stuff, you can only warn other black people in your unit to watch out, keep your head down is what they tell you.

And if he did show bitterness it is definitely justified as the other side has never had to deal with slavery, lynchings , segregation, flooding black communities with drugs, killing unarmed black people ,denying jobs ,denying housing ,denying access to quality education...

I had an experience with an arresting officer in my youth over 30 years ago around 11pm or so while removed off a bus at a time I was heading to work at a hotel.
Apparently, the same time I'm boarding the bus a convenience store is robbed. It was believed the suspect(s) may have boarded a bus to make his getaway.
Unbeknownst to me, the searching police officers boarded the bus with K-9 in tow. As the officers examined passengers seated from left to right methodic towards the back, somehow I'm the likely suspect the police are looking for. So after a few questions, I'm escorted off the bus and placed inside the squad car until the officer taking the lead arrives to ID me.
Before the cop confirms his suspicion, he tells me this threatening warning: "NOW DON'T YOU RUN ANYWHERE."
I’m annoyed and surprised that despite almost 50 years of my life, and such a great promise for the end of racism that we still have to deal with it every day and that there are so many people who seem to think that it is simply a figment of black peoples imaginations. Then you layer politics and people’s fear of change onto this and it seems like it’s going to take forever to fix. All it takes to fix problems is to say “Enough is enough. We are going to roll up our sleeves and fix this.”
White ppl have to fix white ppl.
Black ppl have to fix black ppl.
Latinos have to fix Latinos.
Asians have to fix Asians.
You get the point....
My wife's a black attorney, too. Graduated with honors at age 47 (second career), Law Review, full scholarship, three CALI awards, VP of Research, Writing, and Advocacy for Moot Court. Recruited before graduation to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, then after two years went up the ladder quickly to private firms. She's a champion. When she arrives early for a deposition at opposing counsel's office, they think she's the Court Reporter and talk to her like she's the cleaning woman.

As a woman, I believe it is our duty to vote, whatever it takes. We owe it to the past generations who suffered to obtain this right, to the women who fought for the right to vote. We owe it to future generations and we owe it to ourselves too. If you do not vote, then you should never complain about the way any election has gone.

So much truth.... I remember living in Torrance, CA back in 1990..... I walk across PCH near Ocean to get some Chinese food... I get stopped on the way back to my apartment and received questions that indicated to me that I did not belong where I was. I understood their line of questioning. They wanted to know where I was parked and where I lived. That "tone" of "you're lying" was very easy to hear. I decided quickly that rather than escalate and react to the hurt, I decided to pull what I felt was my ace.... I had a DD Form 2AF in my pocket. I knew that I was not a nobody. And after I showed my military ID card, I felt the officers back up and stop with that "tone"... Sometimes, the hardest thing to admit is that we work so hard to distinguish ourselves so that we can take the Sidney Portier approach of checking all of the boxes indicating that we have paid our dues to be treated equally. It is so hard to know that regardless of our field of endeavor, the cops will treat us a certain way. I even took the step a few years ago of going to the DMV to get a Veteran endorsement and indicator on my driver's license.
I guess I was taught that we are a "Right of passage" society where we have to be able to demonstrate that we have earned the right to be treated fairly by police.
The thing I still don't know what to do about is how to deal with the police who dismiss the efforts that so many of us have gone through to get to that point where we would like to just walk around, obey the law, and not be harassed. It would seem that there is nothing I can put on my driver's license or anywhere that will protect me.
I believe that rioting is not the answer. I was there in 1992 when the anger about Rodney King overflowed mostly from people who felt they did not have a stake in the community.
I also believe that training police better is not the answer. It may help. The simple issue to me is that an institution that recruits, trains, and deploys a person who can violate a person under color of law with the backing of the state, the support of the media, and with a shield of qualified immunity..... This is going to attract authoritarian types who will abuse the power and authority.
Unaccountable people with guns is the result.
Riots and training and political nonsense and declarations of thoughts and prayers are more empty words than anything else. SImply put.... If we believe that police violence and excesses are the price we have to pay for having a civil society, then we should say so. Let us just repeal that 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 14th amendments and basically start having it stamped on our ID that based on income, occupation, family background, IQ, or whatever criterion the powers that be decide is acceptable to the masses. If we have a caste system in this country, let us own it.
However, if we are actually a nation of laws... Then, let us truly works towards making everyone equal before the law. Police, military, fireman, nurses, doctors, stenographers, truck drivers, waitresses, cooks, dishwashers, street sweepers... Equal or tiered. We really need to choose.....

Bryan Stevenson, an inspiring story we all need to be reminded of sometimes. I've been listening to him all morning. Does not get old. It's his time to lead, with a great sense of righteousness, wisdom of equality & justice, and as a wise man, he is a natural leader. Explained here in this short clip, as to why he EXISTS as he is. As indigenous, we share too that alone is power in itself. He has prepared all his life for a time like this, to confront the hatred, the ignorance, and sad truth of this country. It's his time to use what power he has to share with us all who are looking for direction in this time. For inspiration. He will lead like his grandparents did! What a gift he is, a naturally born (and raised) leader!

Jane Elliott often corrects people for saying they are not racists because they “don’t see color, just people” by telling them that we should ALL see color. We should all understand people’s history and culture and we should embrace their differences because we are in fact DIFFERENT, and these differences make humanity GREaT!!! As an American, you are the smartest person in the situation when confronted by the occupying police force in our great country.
We need change! The fight for equality is a bit like the fight against pollution. It takes systematic change over time. But most of the change that needs to happen does not need to be done gradually. Most of the change we can do today! Lets have a equality revolution!
Im ready to loose privileges, pay higher taxes and so on, if that means a safer, better society for everyone. Time for us to pay back what we have taken. That will hurt, but it will hurt good! I think we have come far in Norway where I live, but even here, its still true. We need to level the playingfeeld even further. And I and others with comfortable lifes needs to pay for this, collectively.
