And then there are the white folks who still think that it’s all overblown. I just don’t understand what these people get out of denying this stuff. Racism is a major problem I. My parents who’re both in their 80s lived through Jim Crow and segregation, told me when they were kids playing in their neighborhoods, they were mostly at peace, until the police would come in just to harass, mostly, the boys and men in their community. My husband, close to 60, told me the Police did the same thing to the boys in their neighborhood in the 70s. This is an old issue that needs to be dealt with.

Casey Gardner below gave you a few fair points that you will need to think about. The states mentioned all tend to think one way because thats what they believe works for them. California will vote for a democratic candidate even if that candidate is garbage. Imagine a democratic version of Trump winning off the popular vote solely because California has more citizens. The other states wont be able to keep up. ou will need 3 states to come together to match the think tank of one. My parents who’re both in their 80s lived through Jim Crow and segregation, told me when they were kids playing in their neighborhoods, they were mostly at peace, until the police would come in just to harass, mostly, the boys and men in their community. My husband, close to 60, told me the Police did the same thing to the boys in their neighborhood in the 70s. This is an old issue that needs to be dealt with.

My son is a great debater because he's able to articulate how he feels in such a way that it's easy for me to understand whereas I am not capable of articulating my feelings in the same way.

I am so glad that Cedric Richmond is in Congress. He is telling the truth to people who are reluctant to hear it and deal with it. BTW, Matt Gaetz does not have a son who is black or looks black, and he was gaslighting Richmond. Richmond said IF you have a son who is a black male, in danger in the streets (from police brutality) then I am more concerned about him than you are (given your obstructive tactics re this legislation).
Why can gentlemen like this run for presidency and win.

Dara King removing them electoral college eliminates literally every state except California, New York, Texas, and Florida from their vote counting in an election. How is that fair for middle America? Their voices would be drowned out by the liberal states that can’t even control their own cities from burning to the ground. How is that fair?
If we get rid of the electoral college all that would need to happen in a candidate win California and New York and they are most likely President. Is that fair for the other 48 states in the country?
@Dara King Believe me I understand where you're coming from but bear in mind that the popular vote is a horrible idea. Casey Gardner below gave you a few fair points that you will need to think about. The states mentioned all tend to think one way because thats what they believe works for them. California will vote for a democratic candidate even if that candidate is garbage. Imagine a democratic version of Trump winning off the popular vote solely because California has more citizens. The other states wont be able to keep up. ou will need 3 states to come together to match the think tank of one. The electoral college is a system that does its best to mitigate that situation while it can still happen with the system its not set in stone like a popular vote.

The person Gaetz refers to as his son is not black and it was in no way relevant to the conversation. White people can and do have black children but Gaetz doesn't. This is a conversation about black people being disproportionately targeted. If people don't want to accept that, fine, but this wasn't a broad point about "non-white" people.

I think most of us would agree with that but how else are they going to sneak in all their pork if it was done that way?😆 There used to be a thing called the line item veto but was stopped in 1996 as being unconstitutional. That needs to be brought back.

He is concerned -- as we all should be, if we are decent humans, black, white or brown -- about black Americans being murdered by police. He's concerned about black Americans being publicly tortured to death by choking (which is what Derek Chauvin did to George Floyd in Minneapolis); or shot seven times in the back from a few inches away, like Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Congressman Cedric Richmond wants be able to get a law against that through Congress, without Republican criminals (like that punk drunk Matt Gaetz) sabotaging it with irrelevant wrecking amendments.
