Maher is being pragmatic. Liberals don't watch or listen to political discussion in large enough numbers to keep the lights on. Conservatives have been a mainstay of Bill's audience for years. However, with the boom in podcasting, they have a buffet of options. He needed more voices on the right to bring back those that were deserting him.
@@ohyeaaaa1 On his old show, he certainly did have plenty from the right. Even early on, on Real Time, he served the right, not as much, but still. Over the last 5 to 8 years, he's moved harder to the left. He has stopped having Dennis Prager, Larry Elder, Dennis Miller, Steven Crowder, Adam Corolla and you won't see a Thomas Sowell sighting. He'll have Greg Guttfeld on Club Randon, but not Real Time. Same with Candace Owens and Patrick Bet David. He'll sell a book on Megyn Kelly, but not have her on Real Time. He'll have Stephen A. Smith on and never mention Jason Whitlock or have him on. And you won't see Matt Walsh, Victor Davis Hanson or Pearl Davis on. Now, every person I named would be HUGE ratings and go super viral. But, they'd also wipe the floor with his liberal guests. Case in point, Ben Shapiro. But, don't you worry, a Friday show is in the works as we speak that will invite everyone of the people I just mentioned.

@robi6317 hundreds of solutions for every issue have been offered. The problem is with the voters. We have known for 248 years a big federal gov was a bad thing. From the founding documents to the late 50s, the population agreed that the Fed Gov should be held to its constitutional limits. Because gov does nothing well and the bigger it gets the more inefficient it becomes. Then, all of a sudden, the people decided the gov was going to take care of them with social security. ( Social security was introduced to only work for the families of the soldiers killed in WW2. It wasn't planned to last more than 20 years. ) Today, 34% of all employees in the US are federal government employees. In 1960 2% of workers were federal employees. In 1960, you could live your life and only come in contact with the federal government on the day you paid your federal taxes. Today, the federal government controls everything. There isn't a product, service, or activities that don't have federal regulations.
Dems and repubs have adult conversations every day. If you haven't been seeing that you're not paying enough attention to people who aren't in the cult on either side.

One of the best panels in a while. Wish it was longer. Sellers just kept talking. He lost it when he tried saying USA in 2024 is the same as USA in 1954 for black men. The constant victimhood mentality is exactly the problem. There is an issue with not necessarily black culture but inner city culture.
It actually stunning how wrong you're about the subject. The "inner city culture" is a direct product of bad policy and I am not talking about welfare. The black community has been historical denied access to grow wealth. The Federal Housing and National Housing Act of 1934 created one largest shifts in homeownership in US and it excluded black Americans. The value of a home and community banks getting the government to remove the risk from mortgages turned the Bank of Italy into the Bank of Americans and has similar effects on all community banks expect black banks.

Now we need climate change scientists from both sides. We know that will never, ever happen for very good reasons.
@@girle5584having one scientist who believes in climate change and one scientist who doesn’t on a panel would be a gross misrepresentation of the debate about climate science though.
The overwhelming majority of scientists support the evidence that Climate change is real and is being ramped up by man made activities. The only way to have a fair debate about this issue would be to have a panel of 97 scientists against 3 climate denying scientists.
@@miniman2132 Yup, and it's more like 99 to 1. And the 1 climate denier is not actually a denier, these are scientists who have doubts about some studies. They are not bringing facts opposing climat change to the table, they have none. If they did their own studies, they probably would find a vast amount of evidence supporting human caused climate change.
@@miniman2132 There are times in history where the majority of scientists believed the sun revolved around an earth that was flat. The belief that the universe was static was a majority opinion well into the 1900's. Don't forget all the great scientists that gave us the food pyramid. These are all examples of fitting science into preconceived notions. Every single solution to climate change involves the ceding of individual rights to a government authority and history shows us how that turns out.
There was no discourse. Lefties were throwing out feelings while being presented with facts. They would ignore the facts then throw out more ignorance because of how they felt. Reality doesnt matter to them.

Good for Maher to have these guys in. Great debate.

I enjoyed the diversity of opinion this time, and the fact that for the most part they engaged with each other fairly and politely, not attacking each other. That kind of proper debating is so rare in media these days, so this was actually a delight to watch!
It's so nice to see both Democrats and Republicans having an adult conversation about issues.
"If you don't support Israel's ongoing massacre of innocent children you are a pro-hamas anti-semite!" Very adult conversation.
3 republicans 1 democrat. If I wanted to watch that I'd watch fox news. Ntm bakari is an israel-lobby democrat.
it'd be better to hear them offer some solutions and compromises
@robi6317 hundreds of solutions for every issue have been offered. The problem is with the voters. We have known for 248 years a big federal gov was a bad thing. From the founding documents to the late 50s, the population agreed that the Fed Gov should be held to its constitutional limits. Because gov does nothing well and the bigger it gets the more inefficient it becomes.
Then, all of a sudden, the people decided the gov was going to take care of them with social security. ( Social security was introduced to only work for the families of the soldiers killed in WW2. It wasn't planned to last more than 20 years. )
Today, 34% of all employees in the US are federal government employees.
This was an amazing discussion. I wish it was way longer.

One of the best Real Times in a long time
This is the robust debate we need! I just made an 80th birthday dinner for dear friends. One a Vietnam war veteran. We need to listen to the people who have experienced the results of decisions!
It was very informative and refreshing to see everyone listen to each other's points and be respectful. We need more of this! One issue I have is when Bill meets a topic he doesn't like and then shuts down the discussion or makes a joke and swivels to a new topic. This was very evident in this clip.
I found it pretty exhausting tbh, how everyone interrupted and tried to talk louder than everyone else.

One of the best panels in a while. Wish it was longer. Sellers just kept talking. He lost it when he tried saying USA in 2024 is the same as USA in 1954 for black men. The constant victimhood mentality is exactly the problem. There is an issue with not necessarily black culture but inner city culture.
That's exactly how white people sound rn playing the victim card too.
Shut up
It actually stunning how wrong you're about the subject.
