    Sick. I've always liked GTI look over the R. My is just 303 hp and 445 Nm. No 4 wheel drive but for me it's the best small, practical and relatively fast car.Comfy enough to hit 300-400 km routes, and perfect for the city.

    A big thing to consider above 180 is that Wing. It is really big also the whole front is very much pushing the car to the ground on those speeds which really slows it. An RS3 doesnt have that much Aero also an R or regular GTI doesnt the Clubsport has alot (which doesnt seem like it at first but you can feel it holding you more and more back beyond that 180) so thats why it wont go more than 280 it just drags to much - with the regular GTI Aero you probably would be able to reach 300kmh but it wont feel as smooth and stable like in a Clubsport. I Think perfect Power is between 350-400hp with 500-550Nm everything above 400hp front wheel with over 600NM torq isnt fun anymore cause you cant even use it and it already has trouble with 100hp and nm less.
    So thats why I think APR Street Tuning Stage 1 with 360hp and I think 480NM + all the Hardware Parts for Intake and Exhaust which will boost torque on a Clubsport cause Stock Exhaust is only 55mm all the other GTIs are 65mm to somewhere around those 500-550Nm. Thats like perfect maybe also considering a Wagner Intercooler IF you are an Autobahn guy and drive full speed for longer periods in summer but if you dont you wont need an Intercooler for an R or Clubsport under 400hp.

Then im assuming i will pick the Swedish tuner BSR on a Stage 1. It gives 359 HP. The reason i want BSR is because they sell a PPC3 unit for it, so you can Tune / Detune it anytime you leave it in for service, for 100 % peace of mind nobody will complain... Agreed. I'd have anxiety knowing that much power is going through that 2L. My Mk7 is stage 1 with "only" 330hp and I'm not sure I would want any more power through the front wheels than that for both my tires, the platform, and the drivetrain. Sure, it'd be fun to, but I'd imagine 99% of people are dailying a GTI and if you're picking a FWD hatchback with 500hp and a drivetrain that'll likely grenade itself as your weekend car, you're doing it wrong.

      Besides my bone-stock GTI has issues putting down all its power even in 2nd gear, in spite of the LSD. The LSD does make a huge difference in preventing one-wheel peels at least, but there's only so much you can do with FWD.

    • @Krauser1226
      @Krauser1226 4 года назад

      @@ARentz07 exactly. I get making dumb power is fun, and I love my GTI to death, but a FWD car has it's limits. If you want to make 470HP, the GTI is not your platform. Now, Mk7 Golf R? That can make this power all day long and put it down, but you're still playing with fire pushing that through a 2.0L i4 in a daily. Now, I run Michelin Pilot Sport 4S as my summers and I actually have no problem putting the power down. They still spin a bit in first but they grip hard in 2nd and pull no problem, even with 330hp and around 330lb ft of torque. I think that's around perfect for this car with a good set of summers, but my winters will roast through 3rd if I push. Tires are a necessity of you're making 300+hp on any FWD car, regardless of vehicle. Anything close to 400hp, let alone 470hp, is wasted on a FWD platform with a 2.0L motor.

    I obviously realize that one becomes accustomed to what they grow up with, but living in US I find the fpv on European roadways a little unsettling with only white lines everywhere regardless of one-way or two-way traffic. Here, it's straight-forward. You pull onto a road with a yellow line-even if there is not a single other car on it- you know immediately you're on a two-way road and you stay on the right of the line. The white delineates multiple lanes in the same direction only.

    There’s really no reason to have a FWD car with over 300lb-ft of torque unless you have a LSD, and even then, much more than 350lb-ft gives you so much torque steer you can’t even drive the thing very hard. After I tuned my Mk7 GTI PP (VAQ) it was on the verge of having too much torque for the car to handle in sharp turns when you got on it. It also made the clutch start to slip which is a definite weak spot on 6MT Golf GTIs. I was really hoping the Mk8 Golf would introduce a new manual transmission (I was hoping for a 7-speed manual) and much beefier clutch with a more progressive take up and heavier weight, but it appears VW just carried over the transmissions from the Mk7/7.5. Even the 6MT Golf R clutch is pretty weak.
    One thing I did enjoy about my tuned sleeper GTI (looked and sounded completely stock) was destroying cars that were twice as expensive that had no clue they were going up against a 350HP/350lb-ft Golf. My fav was dusting a Cayman.

  • @JacesOwnWorld
    @JacesOwnWorld 4 года назад

    Okay, this might be long, but bear with me. I make a good point.
    Yes, I think the Clubsport is the Bess GTI that you can get. It is very expensive, but it has all the things you would want in a car (power, sound, looks) to make it fun without having to upgrade it.
    Now, what I don’t understand is why someone would buy this car at its very high price, just to take a lot of the OEM parts off of it, and replace them with aftermarket. This makes zero sense to me because when you buy the Clubsport GTI, you are paying the price it is for the sound (it has a muffler unique to itself), the power (it’s tuned differently), the wheels, etc. This owner has literally upgraded all of that, all of which can be bought for the base model GTI, that would save you over $10k over the Clubsport. You can buy all of the aftermarket parts this car has, for the same exact price, and get the same exact power and performance out of your GTI, in the base model. So why this owner bought the insanely expensive Clubsport, to then upgrade all the things unique to the Clubsport, makes zero sense to me, outside of just telling people you have the Clubsport.
    So yes, as a stock car, the Clubsport is the best. In the aftermarket world, the base model GTI is the best bang for your buck. Why? Because every single model of the MK7/7.5 GTI/R uses the same EA888 engine, transmission, and chassis.

      Im sure it has more to do with the gearbox as its a DSG, the clutch packs can only take so much power and torque. Now if it was a 6 speed manual it can take it, just need to get the proper clutch.

      To be honest I have my doubts about the claimed poweroutput, with 470hp, a mqb based car should run faster above speeds over 200kph. I drive a golf 7r with about 400hp an the differences are negligible.

  • @GerardPedrico
    @GerardPedrico 4 года назад

    The handling of the steering wheel trembles a bit... not because of the steering wheel itself. It lacks added stable down force to bring the car evenly during high speed without slightly rocking from side to side (buckling). Solution: side skirts that resemble "down force fenders" on the doors designed like door creases that stretch from the front wheel wells all the way to the rear wheel wells. One long crease-fender on the left door of the car and one long crease fender on the right door of the car.
    Aerodynamics is key to keep the steering wheel from not buckling.

    • @GerardPedrico
      @GerardPedrico 4 года назад

      Creases in the middle of the side doors. One on the left and one on the right.

    a FWD 470 HP and light ( 1400 Kg ) hatchback must go easy 300 Km/H ? a leon cupra ST ( 1550 Kg ) and AWD with 300 HP go easy 272 Km/H ( limiter ) my friend has one, i think the tuning is not very good ?

    • @Bob-66

      The GTI Clubsport can't go above 300km/h because the 6th gear is too short. I have a normal GTI Performance with a similar build and also can't reach 300km/h GPS because of the 6th gear. I run into the rev limiter at about 295km/h which is already raised to 7200rpm
