The ease of access to power with these engines stock are just ridiculous!
they de tune like many cars as well. Like all gti's last 10-15 years can gain minimum 50hp and maybe 70 torque or so stock from a simple stage 1 tune i guess? thats nutty and you feel it. Thats awesome in and of itself. Few other little things and you can be touching up to 25% more power and torque with no real mods or dicking around for maybe less than a grand. Thats dope

Ha ha for sure, Ricky check my channel out as my car is like so similar like a 15 year throw back eg in the way that I’m running stock internals on 300bhp, and all the parts vrs mentioned like clutch,turbo,engine mounts,suspension I’ve done too. If you up for an old well built mk4 on llf I would happily bring it down for you to play lol.

I remember driving the mk5 gti, damn was it fun! i drove it the same day it hit the dealer. Back then it was decently fast. At that time I had a dc5r and tbh I felt that the GTI is a better dd, than my Honda. Its an all around car for the city, great little toy.

As an older guy (46🤕) I'm probably more of a traditionalist, and will always be a big fan of a manual gearbox. I know DSG is the new norm, but the driving experience with shifting yourself, the overall joy of true control is king! Thanks for this. Cheers from 🇨🇦

Are there any major differences like stitch/seam welding between the chassis that contains 2.0L TSI (GTI or R) to the 1.4L trims? And Will if you're reading my comment... I've owned a 3 door GTI Original and I was always pleasantly happy with the way it handled, but never got a chance to drive a 5 door GTI. I'm sure you've driven both and if you have, do they handle much differently?

Brilliant car and it's true about FWD having more WHP and lighter weight, but if it's damp or wet the Golf R would be gone. If I lived in a hot country I'd pick the GTi all day but this is England lol. brilliant video
An R when no spin is a FWD.. So that WHP hp loss bs is something that even a R32 didn't have.
Or snowy winter... then it's just sad if you have Fwd

Your engine I recently had a burned valve. Technician couldn’t determine the cause of the damage from my modifications. I know you mentioned poor fuel ⛽️ low on oil or mapping can cause this. Perhaps it was the piggy back I have.
Im not going to lie Rick that car is all you bro. VRS work speaks for it self. Might have to send my MKIV lol

Ive been weighing up which car to buy.. im going for a 2ndhand dealer car. A 2016 golf clubsport 40 edition/anniversary cost abt 34k and 2015-16 golf r is abt 32k to 35k.. i duno which one to go for.. ive been liking the clubsport cuz in Australia we didnt get the S version

Still with enough power you gotta be careful with your right foot in a 4wd but if you can why not get more traction the way I see it. Gonna have a blast either way though.
As an owner of an R32, which is admittedly an old car, I'd rather this over a mk7 R. The drive train loss on haldex 4motion is huge and the weight is hefty.
