This has to be one of the cleanest GTI’s I’ve seen. Really well done. My only hang up is that much power in a FWD car. If I wanted a 400+ hp car, fwd would be my last choice.
Yeah personally I don't see the appeal, surely you just get a golf R at that point but each to their own
Even 300+ is problematic for a lot of fwd hatchbacks. A little corner, dry road and the car couldn’t take the turn, yet they say fwd is more fun than awd 😅 I mean I can understand the fun in rwd, but fwd!? Yeey understeering is so much fun 😅
@@DnBDubstepManiak1 i have a gti tuned at around 350 hp rn and its perfectly nimble in corners
if anything, my time in my old wrx was my prone to understeer due to the extra weight pushing outside
@iNSTAGiB as far as I'm aware the R is about 100kg heavier, most of which is at the rear with the added differential and haldex system. I have mine tuned to a fairly respectable 500NM and I'm yet to experience any proper slip from any wheels. Admittedly it's much less power than some are running, but my point remains.
@iNSTAGiB just out of curiosity, is the tax based on HP? Because here in Romania it's based on engine size, so having 2.0 would be the same :) btw, a Golf R has a 40euro anual tax here in Romania, because of the small engine :)

I completely agree about the GTi vs R. I just sold my mk7.5 R to go back to a 2 door mk7 GTi (both manual cars) for that exact reason. The GTi is just a lot more fun to drive because it's lively and you have to WORK. The R is still fun and it's very fast and would leave a GTi down the same road stock for stock...but I'd rather be having more fun and be a bit slower than be very quick and less fun. 👍
Totally agree the GTi is more fun. I have a MK7.5 GTi DSG performance pack and its the perfect daily.
@@davewebley8630 agreed, I really enjoyed the R as it was a phenomenal daily driver and kinda fun...but the GTi feels much more alive and involving. The R feels like a point and shoot machine that can REALLY make any backroad feel very short haha. The GTi feels like a very fun and fast car that makes roads feel short but very fun.
Having a GTi and another car makes for an incredibly versatile garage. I'm looking forward to adding another sportscar to go with it soon enough.
If I could only have one car for the rest of life, it'd be a two wheel drive manual 911 Iol....but my 2nd choice is easily a two wheel drive manual GTi. 👌

@@Kamukix The Boxster is such a great car. Ideal for a road trip with two very good luggage spaces. My dad owned three of the Boxster generations and if I could afford it I would have bought his 718 PDK car after he passed away. Lovely car in Guards Red.

my previous car was a 1.4 150hp, chuned it to 190hp. really fun car. now owning a gti perf with 300+ hp 🔥

I have a Mk5 GTI with about 250 hp and it's huge fun. Don't underestimate the GTIs guys, like I used to (I'm more of a Type R guy). GTIs are superb daily drivers, I have a baby and have a full size stroller with us in the luggage compartment and the Golf's genius boot setup just works perfectly fine for a small family.

I really like the Interior and exteriour. It is a beautiful car for me.

The black roof is a factory option not a wrap. I've got it on my pure grey TCR 🤗
Also the steering wheel doesn't come in alcantara that is after market, it comes with the red 12 o'clock stripe but the wheel itself is leather stock.
damn right at the time where i was going to sell my GTI Performance to buy the TCR. In fact once you tried to daily run the golf mk7 it's hard to look at another sport car for your daily usage.

@@maurice2768 im talking about the standard mk7 gti clubsport with dsg that has 265hp with overboost to 290hp with a stage one you can easily reach 360-370hp because it has the same engine as the golf R just like the tcr but the clubsport is more limited

So many self proclaimed experts claimed this car has less power than claimed and it just did 290 like it's nothing, in a draggy hatchback body. And it's limited. Great tune.
Idiot. It's not faster 250-290 than a Stock 2018 RS3 Sportback. Which has 400hp. And BBM is not far from where I live and known for exaggerating. This Golf might have 390-400 but Not 430.
My friends Leon Cupra with the same engine and gearbox does 8.8s (after correction) with 410hp… and thats with a stock turbo

Gewoon een blow off valve en zo goed als elke auto blaast. Zelfde met de pops & bangs. Velen denken dan direct dat die veel power heeft. Een auto met 100pk kan ook pops hebben.

Good looking car, but why did they stop making the 2-door GTI's? Not economical enough for the EU? I will say, the interior here is very reminiscent of the MKII era (the best era)

How can that part of the autobahn be so empty? You are lucky, I just traveled from Austria to München, Stuttgart to the Nürburgring and back , there was no chance for anyone to go over 180 km/h, full roads with trucks and cars all the time.
Busiest point of Germany. Its the A8 Autobahn.

The Golf mk7.5 looks so much better than the new golf mk8
Admittedly basing this on my mothers Škoda Superb 280 so the coding might be different, but if you put the gearbox in the D/S position and engage manual selection through the paddles the gearbox will still upshift. If you slot it across to +/- to engage manual it won’t.
Depends. I assume the VW DSG is just a bit lesser S-Tronic that Audi uses. And even there, there are different iterations and models of the same called S-Tronic Gearbox.
For example the RS4/RS5/RS6/RS7 (FIRST GEN) S-Tronic is a proper die hard gearbox in manual mode (sport mode does not to be activated, just set it to Manual). No matter if you shift with paddles or the gear selector it will bang into the rev limiter like theres no other day. It won't upshift at all, only downshift to prevent the engine stalling.
Not sure on newer models C8/B9/C9
That TSI(Audi TFSI) it's so tunable.

Yes. I have the same TCR and I have changed my front emblem VW with pure black and no problem with the ACC sensor, but the emblem is more expensive.

Yes. Downpipe, intake, intercooler, HPFP, LPFP, Rs4 valve and some other things I cant remember at the moment. Just stick to downpipe and intake for about 330-340hp to be honest.

would ngk ignition coils and spark plugs make a diffrence in Hp or atleast make the engine smoother and more responsive? If not then do u think i should change the intake?
Sometimes it surprises me how fast my mk6 is. It’s an autobahn edition so it’s a 6 speed manual and my best 100-200 is 7.9 seconds.

9.5 sec 100-200 in mqb is around 350-360hp, not 430. Have cupra 5f with that time only with decat and map

Totally agree. I got the same time when I had 370hp in my Cupra. Then I put the LM 440 with E10 and got 420hp and 8.2 average 100-200..beat time was 7.94🦄

Looks more like 390, my MK6 GTI had 390hp and topped out at 288kmh. Then again, this car is probably heavier.

Gti is the base sporty model. 245 hp. The Gti Tcr is the top sporty model. 290hp and diferent general chassis setup.
