The Dark Side of Muhammad Ali

  • Previous Ali Video: • Muhammad Ali, the Only...
There’s a pretty well known saying that goes.. It’s probably best if you never meet your heroes. Never meeting your heroes.. To most people, meeting the person who they idolize, who they look up to, and sometimes even aspire to be like.. Would be a dream come true. Afterall, the image of the person they look up to, in their mind, is that of a hero. An image of someone who is just, righteous, prosperous.. Someone who is trustworthy, loyal, kind.. Someone who is.. perfect.
Which is why some choose to lash out in anger, as if they themselves have been insulted when any form of negative light is shined on the person who they look up to. Accepting the dark side, the side that might not be as pure as the one they have come to idolize, would break their perception of what it means to be successful, what it means to be a winner.. Or most simply put.. What it means to be happy. Since most of the time, that is the image we are fed.. That our idols, celebrities, whatever you want to call them.. Due to all that they have, and all that they have achieved.. are happy.
However, if you ever have the opportunity to meet the person who you hold so dear, and really get to know them.. You’ll discover the disappointing reality that they, just like you, and everyone else.. Are only human.. And have all of the same burdens, and afflictions that are attached to that reality.
You’ll discover that they’re not perfect.
And this applies to everybody. Even some of the most revered and idolized personalities of all time, whose virtues on the outside appear to be as pure as that of a newborn child, have a sinister darkness that is twined deeply into their human nature. A nature that is born of both good, and evil. Light, and darkness. A duality of nature in which denying yourself of one, is denying yourself overall.
For light cannot exist without the darkness, nor can darkness exist without the light. And it’s for that reason, that today we’re going to be taking a look at a person whose light lit up the world.. Spanning across the nations.. But for just as many people as his light shined brightly.. So did he too cast a shadow of pure darkness that reached equally as far as his light. A darkness that reveals a side to his legacy that tells a much different story than that of his luminance. Yet, despite the difference.. is just as vital of a side to understand in order to grasp the full story of the man by the name of Muhammad Ali.. aka the man who is known to many, as the Greatest, of All Time.

Ive only watched a quick bit of this but on quite a few documentaries about Mohammed Ali i was surprised that when Mike Tyson was about to fight Larry Holmes he climbed in the ring & said to Tyson:
" Remember what you said - get him for me. "
This was something i remembered from an early documentary of the rise of Tyson & how he watched infinite amounts of boxers in many weights fighting that he wanted to drop Holmes for beating Ali & i guess grudges carried on even long after he retired & was ill with Parkinsons Disease but i must admit i was taken aback that Ali said this especially when yiu consider Larry Holmes broke down in tears after deafeting Ali who was his idol...
The simple fact was Ali stayed in the ring or came back from retirement when he shouldnt have & he shouldve known that even if Joe Louis was in front of him he'd have tk defeat him & im sure Ali wouldve cried also having to beat Louis & though to Ali's idol was not in his wriggt division as Sugar Ray Robinson was the king, the master, my idol."
Im sure he wouldnt have liked to see , in an alternate universe that saw Ali vs Robinson with Ali going on to beat Robinson in the ring but like the gentleman said as an intro Ali & men like him are only human & say things they shouldnt or do things they shouldn't & of course im talking about how he went too far by severely direspecting his once friend who lobbied to have Ali get him reinstated to box again & though Joe supported Ali & his family as best he could through those 3 years i think anyone would feel betrayed by the way he trashed talked about Joe once he was reinstated & the worst thing another black can call another (i learned as a child) was to call Joe " An Uncle Tom " as the worst disrespectful thing to say by Ali to Joe...
Because of ongoing ill health i can only sit & watch a small amount of Tv at any given time then i need to rest so every day i put on documentaries of all the great boxers from all weight divisions & ive watched the same ones over & over & though Ali was fast with lightning quips towards his opponents & was then called the Louisville Lip i found that by watching Joe Frazier's documentaries he wasnt slow at throwing them back to Ali...
During his first fight with Joe Ali stated he was a god & Joe couldnt beat him & Joes reply had me laughing when he said " Well Lord Your In The Wrong House Tonight "
The other that Joe said during the same fight also had me in laughter as Ali kept saying he'd drop Joe in the 6th Round but after the 6th Round came & went Joe said to Ali simething along the lines of " Im still here , did you bring yiur lunch box "
To this day i still dont understand that i thought that what he was doing an saying was only a joke & to promote their or should i say his fights but Ali needed no promoting by the time he was disrespecting Joe Frazier..
Yes hed spent 3 years in exile but that alone along with seeing Ali box again doesnt cut it as far as Ali saying it was just harmless fun meant ti promote his fights yet he only truly realised when he found out throughout their rivalry Joe & his family had received death threats & his children were left in tears because of being picked on at school or out & about & there were more issues the Frazier family haf to put uo with because of Alis trash talk & it was onky until many years later he was told of tge ramifications of what he did & how it impacted Joe Fraziers family that Ali broke down in tears as he didnt see that what he was doing would cause so much hurt...
Its one thing if Ali said to Frazier before the fights as a way of building the hype to sell the fight that he arranged with Joe to say look im going trash talk yiu so bad to the point ill call you an Uncle Tom but that Ali told Joe before doing this " i dont mean it & its just to hype up the fight "
But Ali needed no hype for people to go & watch him fight or watch the fight on Tv & to claim all the trash talk was just a joke obviously didnt work out that way as yet again in Thriller In Manila he likened Joe to a gorilla & did his usual Louisville Lip rhyming trash talk but i still think this was (no pun intended) more than just a low blow & his words carried a lot of weight with fans who were Pro Ali Fan's...
To hear of him telling Tyson to stick to his word as he stated long before facing Larry Holmes that hed beat him for defeating Ali yet Holmes was in tears after defeating Ali & there was a point & a line you dont cross but i guess Ali didnt think it included him & i found out about all of this as i got older because as a kid we just got to see the fights & werent allowed to watch anything that Ali might come out with as he had started bad mouthing Joe early doors & it goes to show yiu that your idols are not saints & though they eventually truly once and for all made up i still disagreed & still cant defend Ali for his actions towards his friend yet they tried to pass it off as just fun to promote his fights but he mustve known deep down that what he said & did was wrong but he was too proud of himself & his ego wouldn't let him....
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus & its variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world & enjoy your weekend ahead...

When I was a 15, coming home from school there was an Elijah speaks protest on Washington st. I found it confusing since I had just came back from a Martin Luther King march in Alabama that weekend.

As much as I respect Ali for not being used by the American Empire, he was in a cult, a cult that Malcom X was able to leave, which is why Malcolm became an icon for racial justice, whilst Ali was constantly accused of being racist. Ali did eventually say that going against Malcolm was a huge regret, so he did change, at least.

Elijah Muhammad was also a positive influence and respected leader among black people that didn’t belong to his organization. His organization, though hardly a first, was an example for black people to see what they could accomplish in legitimate society if they came together and tried.
Though many knew of this already and were teaching that to their children, EM spoke not only to criminals and convicts but all blacks who truly felt the system was geared against them and had forgone any idea of working within it on ANY level...
He spoke to people who KNEW how evil America was worldwide AND domestically - or at least didn’t believe the BS!
Traditionally, at that time too many of us looked down on ourselves and elevated white people as something to emulate.
We largely didn’t think in terms of organizing by and for ourselves.
We prayed to white Jesus and a white god!
We thought biblical Jews were white!
There were black scholars illuminating truth, there were blacks pursuing business enterprises but EM had a HUGE organization doing so!
He was faaar from perfect but what leader is otherwise??

    PART 2!

  • @claykendall7681
    @claykendall7681 2 года назад +1

Muhammad Ali was a twenty-two year old kid who probably met Brother Malcolm two years prior to his heavyweight title fight with Liston. Muhammad Ali never left Louisville growing up much less the state of Kentucky unless it had to do with boxing. Ali never lived the street life growing up, and he always had his parents. Ali was not very smart in school either he actually was not even smart enough to pass the military test they were given back then. The Army lowered the test score to draft him into the military, because they were upset that he joined the N.O.I. allegedly? Brother Malcolm however was a Street Warrior who came from Hard Times. Born out in the Midwest according to Alex Haley's autobiography. Malcolm's Father was killed by Klansman in Omaha Nebraska for being a follower of Marcus Garvey allegedly?. The trauma caused his Mother to have a mental breakdown, and end up in a mental hospital. Brother Malcolm was a good student who went to school with mostly white people in the Midwest. However in his autobiography he said he told one of the teacher's what he wanted to be whenever he grew up, and his teacher told him that he shouldn't aspire to be anything like that, because he was a colored boy. After this according to the book that's when he said he tuned learning out. Brother Malcolm then lived in Boston, and New York. However he caught his time in Charlestown Massachusetts. Brother Malcolm was a street hustler drug addict, and con artist. Brother Malcolm was all these things, and had lived in three different states by the time he was twenty. Brother Malcolm had experience whenever he met the young Cassius Clay at the time. Brother Malcolm learned every word in the Dictionary before he left prison. Plus the street vernacular, and con artist game he learned on the street. Quite naturally Muhammad Ali would look up to, and take heed to the knowledge, and the precise way Brother Malcolm was able to articulate himself. Ali could also hear, and see the sincere beliefs that Brother Malcolm had for Elijah Muhammad, and the N.O.I. Elijah Muhammad saved Brother Malcolm, and gave him a different narrative to educate himself about who he truly was, and who our people really are. Therefore whenever he spoke to a young impressionable twenty-two year old Muhammad Ali, and gave him the knowledge that he had. I'm sure he put in quite a few times who he learned it from. Elijah Muhammad was considered The Messenger of the N.O.I. not Brother Malcolm, so whenever the word came from their messenger that Brother Malcolm was exiled. Muhammad Ali was a member of the N.O.I. and had to treat Brother Malcolm as he was ordered to do. At that age what he said, and done would be his only logical response. After all Brother Malcolm didn't tell him anything shady about Elijah Muhammad, he only spoke good of him, and look how it changed Brother Malcolm's life? All the scandal behind Elijah Muhammad came out later. As Muhammad Ali got older, and more experienced in Islam, and life he was able to evolve, and grow, and come to understand he was wrong. Honestly in my opinion Brother Malcolm probably understood why Muhammad Ali acted like that towards him. I believe Brother Malcolm would probably have thought I myself once felt like Muhammad feels about Elijah Muhammad. I understand that he is treating me like this, because he is following orders.

If two men look at a piece of art they can only comprehend it based on their reality. While truth and facts are not subjective, perspective certainly is.
I’m not in the Nation and reject all forms of organized religion but if my education, social reality and economic marginalization are not the byproducts of mere circumstance and I can provide verifiable, indisputable and undeniable evidence that there are clearly identifiable entities and institutions responsible , or at least, that have played both active and passive roles in my subjugation while presenting and projecting themselves as the arbiter of equality, justice and democracy on a global scale, using people like myself to reinforce this absurd hypocrisy, I have just one question.
What positive or good thing can be said for these people?
And if I tell the world the truth, without the propaganda, subconscious manipulation, psychological indifference, and corporate funding that marries that ideology with the financial means to push this narrative and shape an entire culture how else do I affirm my humanity and worth as a human being born with inalienable rights that the very sanctity of mankind stand on?
I’d like an example of an individual who could express the pain and rejection that comes from being marginalized by the most hypocritical, criminally corrupt, greedy, dishonest and shameless people in modern history and do it with a damn smile?
    Because they don’t exist. Why?
Because those very people their critique and exposing for their clear and documented corruption, labeled as “hate” conspired to have them killed.
Not just to silence them but to psychologically traumatize generations like them so they won’t ever mistake their shameless and inexcusable acts as anything but good!
    I’m just saying.
