Back when the 4440 was the *BIG* tractor on Kuster Farms! Not that long ago, in the grand scheme of things, and look how much things changed in such a short period of time.

we have a similar set of discs to these in new zealand, maybe an earlier model though, we normally run the outside wings folded up so we can get the penetration into our soils and unfold them for a secondary cut. good vid
The disc is a 630 it's 22 ft wide. We're pulling it with a 4440 which is our big tractor. I bought the disc last fall but it turned out to pull a lot harder than expected so instead of putting my 7600 on it, we had to switch some tractors around.
How many acres does it take to till that jd disc on the 4440 before you switch tractors??

Great video I used my 4440 for chisel plowing and my 4020 for discing
Lol we did the exact opposite , we did 4020 on plowing and our 4430 on disking
the older tractors with Front Wheel Assist actually had hydraulic front drive. , the front wheels merely turned to aid in traction. The newer tractors have Mechanical Front Wheel Drive (MFWD) where the front drive wheels are actually locked and pulling a part of the load.
good job picking ths disc up when turning unlike some people that never pick it up at all when in the field
Deere_ Dieselman_4630 it really sucks to have to bounce over those turn piles especially after the operator tapped something solid as they were turning and busted of the end blade. Happens seemingly every year.

Deereman 1010 is probably right the 4020 and the 4440 are considered by many to be the best Deere ever built,
My dad has told me that the 4020 and 4430 are what made john deere, John Deere. The 4430 and 4440 are basically the same though.
If you look at the sales the 4440 had outsold the 4430 in its several years of production

What kind of camera do you use?
I have this exact setup in 1:64 only my 4440 has more weights on the front and wide front wheels
Could you pull that disk with that tractor without duals?
nice disk, always like ih disc's better seems like the deeres always have welds breaking
just more things to go wrong with a front end assist and very costly to fix!!! Although they are nice in muddy places!!!

If it can pull a 22ft disc with 20 inch blades. Good enough. Id only be concerned if you pull it and its going nowhere. That 4440 looks like hes going 6mph or over. Id go 4.5-5 mph taking my time pulling that big of a disc..
that tractor should plant the one that cuts hay and pulls wagons should get duals and plow and ripp, and pull the grain carts
