Great video Mike. Made me do a little bit of a double take. I'm planting beans in northeast Nebraska as I watched the video. I'm planting with an 82 4640 & an 02 12 row Maxemerge XP that we've had since 04. I added JD autosteer back in 15. Along with LED's, Bluetooth radio and mirrors. In the winter of 22/23 my son and I rebuilt the planter with Precision row control and Delta down force. The 4640 is my favorite tractor on our farm. I'll be 53 in July and plan on planting with this setup on our 2200 acre farm until I retire.
I was a JD dealer in South 4:31 Central Wisconsin in the 1980's, and the 4440 was a game changer for JD, it addressed all the weaknesses of the 30 series. The 466 is an awesome engine. Then the 4455 was JD's dagger into IH and all other competitors. So many farmers in our area boosted their 4440's with injection pump mods, the tractors held up to the increased power and were awesome. Then the 4455 the olliwed with the near perfect combination of power, reliability and extreme value. It's no surprise JD is the dominant tractor mgr. today.
Thanks Mike for this video I love those iron horse tractors the one farmer that my aunt used to rent his ag bagging machine as well as the tractor to run it was a JOHN DEERE 4440 HE ALSO HAD A 40 40 TO THEY BOTH HAD POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION IN THEM . I WISHED I COULD BUY A 4040 ALONG WITH JOHN DEERE CORN PLANTER LIKE THAT ONE IN THE VIDEO THANKS MIKE FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU PUT INTO YOUR VIDEOS .
We bought what must've been one of the first 4440's brand new. It was a real workhorse! Your video reminded of two things...the truckloads of dust I choked down on that open station tractor and how poor the lighting options were back then. Didn't keep me from getting on that tractor every chance I got though!
Good video Mike, nice to see these old favourites still working today with the modern technology of GPS guidance, sure there’s many planting seasons left in the classic combination, 👍👌
When we retired from farming 5 years ago we had the same planter without the fert tanks. If we had gone another year we were going to add GPS to the 4240 planter tractor.

We run a 4840 on our 12 row wide corn planter. Great video Mike 👍👍🌽🌽
Still running wide rows? Just wondering why you haven't gone to 30".
@@diersirrigation our yields are just as good as the neighbors who run 30 so no need to switch everything over
Thanks Mike. That was an enjoyable video!!

Amazing technology! Thanks for the video. 🚜🚜🚜
My favorite Deere is the 4440. Looks great and a great planter with it as well😊👍🏻.
Good ole two wheel drive tractor getting the job done
Great vedio
Love seeing those older tractors.
I like "old school". 👍 He needs to install some LED lights on the front/top of his cab roof and he'd be all set.
A payed off tractor, autosteer, a decent planter with liquid fertilizing and hopefully a cold beer - what more does a guy need?
Nice video brother
Reminds me of farming with my dad. He’s got a JD 4240 that he bought from my grandfather.
Cool tractor and planter😄👍 I always enjoy seeing 4440's at work😁💪
Great planting team!

Good video
Nice video, how many acres was that field?
I like Mike less videos on RUclips from the imperial county California 👍🇺🇲🚜🚜🐐
Mike, What is in the tanks, on the planter? Nice video! And the light was just right!👍👍👍
The tanks are carrying fertilizer that is applied right beside each row of corn
Hey Mikey looks like my dad and brother . Larry Bridenbaugh and Stefan . bridenbaugh up the road from ya this is Steve .
Was this filmed last year or is that a typo in the closing scene where it says May 2023?
