I was worried about replacing my high-end older oasis with this one ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCgPI5O2AtmcHq9SJhgsCGbpAzJAJfrJp but it is surprisingly light and the screen resolution is just as good. I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!

Not all heroes were capes! I have been fighting with formatting for the last two weeks. Even though I used a template for the KDP Paperback, the ebook was ALL KINDS OF CRAZY when it uploaded. I paid someone to format it (not very much) and it still wasn't quite right. So, I looked for a video to make the adjustments I needed without having to go back and forth with the formatter over the next few days. After I downloaded calibre and watched your vid, I had both copies, KDP and EPUB back in the system in less than an hour! Thanks, again!

I have your books in my amazon cart (physical), Which is an awesome compliment since I only keep my absolute favorite authors in physical books, like Irving Stone, Bryan Jaques, and Charles Dickinson. I have to admit, I have never read any of your books yet, but if you put half the work into your books as you do your videos I know I will not be disappointed. I know my ideas are jumping around here a lot and I am not the greatest of writers, I have been a numbers guy most of my life, Programming is my fortee, but I am now thinking may one day I could write too. I know I am probably never going to strike it rich as a writer, but I am ok with that. I think being a writer, at least for me is someone who needs to tell their story. I think that's more important (the act of telling your story), and having readers is just an extra bonus. I am working on a medical book (EKG Interpretation) with lots of pictures. Is there any format that will create an image of each page and display it in a Kindle format? I see the boxes spanning over two pages and sometimes the image titles displaced. it looks sloppy. I have tired kindle format, Mobi and ePUb. Epub does a descent job, but it doesn't look professional

Does Calibre embed fonts and lock illustrations in place on the page? What I'm running into with my formatting that the text and pictures are all over the place and not the same font. I've tried downloading Kindle Kids Book Creator and have yet to be able to open and upload the files. I've also tried the Indesign plug-in and haven't found much helpful information on how to navigate the get the results I want. It's super easy. It should be simple.
When I formatted my ebook using ePub and published it on KDP, the spacing between words on the 'look inside' page was all off - words squished together, no spacing between words (not with every word but much of the page). Do you know how I can fix that? It looked fine when I previewed on epub.

And then you uploaded to calibre, etc. as per the video. But did you do any formatting at all in microsoft office as you went along? I ask because how does one know how much spacing to put between title, table of contents, etc? Do you just use a hardback book to model that stuff after, one page for each?

I got a plr book I edit it change the title and the cover add images uploaded it on Amazon the book was still blocked. Plz what else do I hve to include on the edited book to get my book approval
My problem is that when i download epub from calibre to kindle it comes without cover and when i delete old books from kindle that are with cover and download them again they come without cover now too help

Huh. I didn't know about the epub converter. I have Vellum on my computer but haven't played around with that too much since it costs money and the fonts are limited. I just put my 7th book on preorder. Fun when we do that, isn't it?
Yeah. I need to check out the formatting website though. I do a few basic things with my Cheap series but I'm writing a stand alone soon that might require different fonts.

Hi, Kristen! I think it's great you're providing this type of video for fans/viewers! I've never used Calibre for formatting, but it seems really simple (I use Scrivener for everything) and I might consider using that when I have clients who need formatting. Do you ever run into issues when special formatting is needed, such as page centering, fonts, etc.? Or does it just take exactly what is in word and translates it to ebook? by the way, I love the cover of your newest book! Looks really awesome!

Amazon KDP states we can upload .docx files, so why do we need to convert to .epub ahead of time?

Huh. I didn't know about the epub converter. I have Vellum on my computer but haven't played around with that too much since it costs money and the fonts are limited. I just put my 7th book on preorder. Fun when we do that, isn't it?

Yeah. I need to check out the formatting website though. I do a few basic things with my Cheap series but I'm writing a stand alone soon that might require different fonts.

after setting up format on DIYbook..., then a straight upload to Calibre? then it is ready for Kindle? Oh yes I still need to get my cver but all else is ready. thanks.
Hi, Kristen! I think it's great you're providing this type of video for fans/viewers! I've never used Calibre for formatting, but it seems really simple (I use Scrivener for everything) and I might consider using that when I have clients who need formatting.
Do you ever run into issues when special formatting is needed, such as page centering, fonts, etc.? Or does it just take exactly what is in word and translates it to ebook?
by the way, I love the cover of your newest book! Looks really awesome!
Calibre is super simple, that's why I use it :) I don't run into any formatting issues because I use a pre-made template from diybookformats.com
Also Kristen, doesn't KDP allow you to upload Word doc.file and Word docx. file? What about RTF file?
