As an artist and a book creator all my own created images are owned solely by me and thats copyright ownership. If somebody on kdp rips off my images for their 7 minute book creations I would raise hell with Amazon & KDP and they would probably lose their account. I had an image I created digitally on another online selling site and it was pulled off because of the title and the image I created related to a company's product. I also got a cease and desist email from the company itself. So copyrights carry weight. You shouldn't encourage people to ripoff others artwork. Even if somebody downloads and tries to use as their's a piece of line art they need to alter it significantly to defend it as their own creation in order to resell it. Plagarism is also a copyright infringement.
I was listening to you and working on my laptop so I'm using 3 screens I hadn't looked at your face and when I saw your eyes!! BEAUTIFUL!!! OKAY WHAT DID YOU SAY??
A good review. He makes it easy for sure. That 392 sales/mth in the first year is good if it continues to grow, but with royalty only $1.00 or less, per book, less taxes, than @$392.00 a month… don’t give up your day job. Good side hustle. The idea is to have multiple books doing this. Not so easy but over time, possible. Good luck y’all.
That's the most significant aspect of it - you publish the book once and it continues to slowly generate revenue over the years. Then you can scale up to 10, 20 or even 100 books. It may take a few years to get there, but eventually, it will snowball into enough income to quit your day job for good.
I appreciate that he said $392/month. Most of these "make your own KDP book" are like "MAKE $20,000 A MONTH" and that's like... no way. I would bet Stephen King doesn't make $20,000 a month with just one book, and he's not a brand-new author who's only making word search puzzles on amazon.

Great video ! Could you please make a second video on how to promote a low content book once it is created ? With free realistic strategies and also paid ones. How to get out off the crowd and start making some sales with a realistic and doable strategies ?
Hello! Have you ever tried High Content Books? In our experience, it's much more profitable in the Short, Mid and Long term compared with Low or Medium Content Books
The majority of KDP upload tutorials feature just two main themes . . . "Make money/live the life you want" - and/or - "Low/medium content books." Try searching for KDP toturials/demos etc. featuring HIGH content books (novels, poetry, scripts, non-fiction, DIY, Hobbycrafts etc. etc.) and you'll find yourself in a desert of almost nothing. There ARE a few, but the ones I've found either have unintelligible narration or muddled presentation. Even those who upload really excellent walk-throughs of KDP protocols and procedures virtually never feature high content books. It's always those same two themes I listed at the start. I'm currently working towards uploading and self-publishing a high content book so, once that's done, I'll make a note of what I've discovered (as a newbie to KDP) and then make a quick upload for my channel.
That's because those aren't called "high-content books". They're novels, poetry books, non-fiction books. There's an ocean of tutorials out there, just use the right terms. "How to publish my novel on kdp," "publish a poetry book on kdp," "how to write non-fiction," etc etc etc.
@@carriebartkowiak That's pretty well the point I was making. However, I wanted to be fair, so I gave your suggestion a try, and almost without exception, the results narrowed down to picture books. Obviously, a story book for children can easily be a picture book (I follow Jules Marriner who has a brilliant channel for that genre and just look at the books by Oliver Jeffers). I tried 'how to publish a novella for children on KDP. That had almost the same result. Indeed, quite a few videos for any genre of children's book actually proved to be just walk-throughs of 'how to upload.' One good point would be that in terms of publication procedures, there seems to be no real difference because everything boils down to a PDF of the text and a flattened PDF of the cover. However, for genres such as, say, scripts, comic-style storyboards, poetry, interactive books etc. the importance of font choices, setting up your word processor page settings to match book sizes and formats etc. all come into play. Those are the areas I've been thinking about for my own project. As for the best walk-through's of uploading that I've settled on as being really helpful (for me) Bethany Atazadeh's was densely informative (I took 2 pages of notes): ruclips.net/video/hieHzwxZX3g/видео.html and Craig of SPE covered most of the same information but with a couple of additional tweaks: ruclips.net/video/HZtfPsjxT74/видео.html As I said, I'm keeping notes of my own experiences with a high content book for children. I'll filter out all those that are common across all genres, and will then make my own brief video in which I'll try to at least fill in a few of the blanks for those who are interested in publishing for that genre.
So many of the KDP tutorial videos I've seen are like 10 minutes of hard-to-understand tutorials for how to generate a word puzzle on a separate website but then zero info about how to even construct the book, royalty info, how to make the cover, how to decide how much to charge, advertising, etc. I think the REAL money is actually in making tutorial videos.
@@FrenkTheJoy That last point is a very good one. I focused on (at the most) 3 tutorial videos that helped me complete my first KDP project. I soon realised that almost all others covered exactly the same content and it was just a matter of finding those who had structured their tutorials so that everything was sequenced and clearly explained.
I started publishing low content journals on KDP and was actually selling, when suddenly they terminated my account, kept all of my royalties, and claimed I had violated ToS, but literally refused to tell me what I did. So everyone beware of KDP, they will, and do, cancel your account and will steal your royalties.
Merch did that to me. Waiting for the kdp show to end any minute, likely once I start gaining more momentum lol. Fun fact, my bank returned the wages Amazon tried to take back after initially paying me. They deposited, then the deposit disappeared. Called my bank, they returned it! Who knew? But yeah, beware kdp and merch, they terminate with zero explanation
I have a question about royalties and profit margins. If you price a book between $2.99 - $9.99, do you get 70% royalties regardless of how much it costs to print the book? Because you are not printing the book yourself, you don't need to think about production costs. How can you estimate what Amazon would need to spend to produce it to achieve the desired quality of finished product?
The 70% and 35% royalties are for ebooks. You have to look at what the cost of printing is to see what a print book makes, typically a lot less. Amazon will give you this info when you create your book.
Thank you for this practical video ! I have a question : After you do all the steps and you publish the first book, how are gonna next books be like ? Are they in the same niche ? The same idea ? And what's gonna be different between them ? Thank you :)
True. Have you ever tried publishing Non-Fiction Books? Are much more profitable in the Short, Mid, and Long term. We've books published almost 4 years ago that still generate money..
I'm an artist & want to start making these types of books to sell on Amazon. But my question is, if I upload my own original art how easy will it be for others to steal my artwork? Or would I have to fight something like that if it does happen?
I was thinking about getting into KDP and discovered your channel. I have a question about the Amazon account that I will be selling from - can I enter my personal bank account information now, when I am just starting and don't know if I am going to earn any money, let alone how much per month, and then change my personal to a business bank account if I get a steady monthly income flow? I do have a purchasing account. Thanks.
Great content!! I am just a little confused as to: is this an ebook or will it be printed (hence paperback)? also will Amazon take care of all the printing and shipping to the client? and is that price all included in 'Fees'? Also, can we use art drawings from google or other sites in our books?
Currently, it's digital and will be printed and shipped on demand. There's no physical product till an order is placed by a customer. Everything is included in your price and fees. You will want to make sure you are not using copyright or licensed images.
@@junglescout Thanks for the reply! Got it. So Canva's free elements are ok, right? Also in Categories do we choose 'Large-print book (content is 16-point font size or greater)' or we just don't choose anything?
As for Canva's free content, I recommend reviewing their terms here: www.canva.com/policies/content-license-agreement/ You can either print a large print version or the regular one separately. However, please do note that it may affect the number of pages due to font size, so this is something that needs to be considered. Here's a KDP discussion on this subject: www.kdpcommunity.com/s/question/0D5f400000f0Ac7CAE/large-print?language=en_US
Instructions/example for Dimensions on Canva: Cover 17.475 x 11.250 and Inside Content 8.625 x 11.25 . This is noted in the video at the 12:30 and 18:25 minute marks. Thank you.
You don’t really get 60% royalties you get that minus the printing costs which you pay out of your share of the money received so depending upon the actual printing cost you can end up with net royalties of 25-30,
@@concordep2504 Yes I meant 60% of "remaining" amount. Of course you bear the printing cost 100%. This guy is advertising 70% which is completely false and they are more interested in making YT videos and get clicks than give any real-world experience.
@@prateekagraw You're absolutely right, Desi, I accidentally used the eBook royalty rate (70%) rather than the paperback royalty rate (60%) in this example. However, the same logic applies, and when scouting low/medium content paperback niches, you'd of course want to use the accurate rate per book type. Thank you for bringing that our attention 😀I hope you still found the video useful and can use it help identify potential opportunities! - Jake
Finally, someone that tells me to NOT touch the PINK line!! The thing about the coloring book interior, the differences of the lines puts me off and always looking to get some lines thicker or thinner, any advice?

🥰
I just published a low content book and they definitely gave me a free barcode for ALL three of my low content books.
That is definitely ending. Barcodes for low-content books are coming to an end - maybe this month (June 2023). The price for printing is also going up.
Your video was really helpful. I have a strong feeling that I’ll finally get some sales while following your steps. Thank you
Keep us posted on how it goes! Best of luck 🙌
I love your tips! We, as beginners, need a lot of these tips! Also very funny how you finish the video, showing us your funny mistakes😀😀😀
You're more than welcome
'This is the worlds worst boho book cover' omg haha you made me laugh!!🤣😂😂🤣 love this vid, ty for your help! I've been wanting to do something like this for a while with my own art and been looking for vids on how to finally start, and this is perfectly clear instructions! you are a star ⭐
🤩 Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this video man, trying my best now to grow my own channel and KDP business.
Thanks for your feedback! 😊
Damn! Worked like a charm! Thank you soooo much!
🥰
the last part was amazing because the whole video was super serious:D
I was scammed by over $3000 dollars by Amazon KDP Publishing. They advertised to put the book on amazon for $799. After submitting the book, Homoexternicus, The Direction of Man, they transferred me to the promotion department and they wanted $4,500 to promote it on Amazon. We agreed to $2,700 and I paid it. The book never appeared on Amazon with them giving me different excuses. Ray Davis was the agent.
This video is by far the best ! Thank you soo much, you are a champ !
This is such a great video Jake! Amazing content and awesome details. Keep on rocking brother!
I was listening to you and working on my laptop so I'm using 3 screens I hadn't looked at your face and when I saw your eyes!! BEAUTIFUL!!! OKAY WHAT DID YOU SAY??
You are amazingly well at explaining this - I looked a lot for someone that will be clear
That's awesome! 🙂 Glad the explanation worked for you!
👏👏👏 thank you, and I laughed, snorting my tea, at the Amazon screen shot at the 26.30 minute mark ... what a hilarious title!
Yeah, can't deny it, that is an 'original' title 😂
So glad to saw your video. Great & clear explanation! Learned a lot! Big thanks!😊
Hey! Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the content! 🙂 --Lenny
That's a great perspective! 🧡
Thank you for your timely video. Of course I was considering to create low content books, but here you are sharing with us valuable information and tips for the medium content books. Many many thanks and God bless you and your channel! (new subscriber here)
That's great! How's it going for you?
That's great! Well done 🔥 🔥
@How I Win the Lottery Great job! Congratulations! ...Still learning and gathering my courage to go further even with the ISBN situation with Amazon.... so so much to learn.... Best of luck to us all new creators of low and medium content books 💪🏼”fighting!”
@How I Win the Lottery how did you seel so fast please 🙏

You have done such a beautiful job to explain in detail step by step. Very impressive. Thanks for the video.
We are so happy to know you enjoy our video, Fasiehul. 🤩
Amazingly well explained and in detail , thank you ! Have bean watching tones of videos for my first KDP publishing on Amazon and nobody were that generous with the information and efforts to help us start from the scratch' . Looking forward to watch other videos ... Happy 2023 :)
Hello, i hope you are doing well.
I am writing this comment here with a hope to get response from you. One thing i need to ask is about page numbers,
We don need to stick to the page numbers which we entered in calculator, ryt? Or can we go bit above and beyond?
Secondly, if i have entered 100 pages in calculator, does my front and back cover page count as 2 pages out of 100, or not?
Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks for this information! I've been searching for ways to make additional income, you've given me some really good ideas! Blessed Be!
You're welcome, #freedombuilder 🙌
Thanks! I learned a lot!! Your video was great!!!
I made a family activity book, it includes coloring pages for all ages, writing practice pages, and puzzles
That's great!

I like you when you talked about your canva cover design. Thanks for the info this is very helpful youtube chanel.
You're more than welcome!
thank you so much dude, you taught me a lot of useful technique i woudn't have figured out myself if it wasn't for you
🥰
Hello! Have you ever tried High Content Books? In our experience, it's much more profitable in the Short, Mid and Long term compared with Low or Medium Content Books
We will think about it 😉
APPRECIATE THIS THANK YOU. I am working on my books and I decided to do everything myself now thanks to my canva account
The majority of KDP upload tutorials feature just two main themes . . . "Make money/live the life you want" - and/or - "Low/medium content books."
Try searching for KDP toturials/demos etc. featuring HIGH content books (novels, poetry, scripts, non-fiction, DIY, Hobbycrafts etc. etc.) and you'll find yourself in a desert of almost nothing.
Thanks for jumping in for us! 🧡
Indeed, quite a few videos for any genre of children's book actually proved to be just walk-throughs of 'how to upload.'
One good point would be that in terms of publication procedures, there seems to be no real difference because everything boils down to a PDF of the text and a flattened PDF of the cover. However, for genres such as, say, scripts, comic-style storyboards, poetry, interactive books etc. the importance of font choices, setting up your word processor page settings to match book sizes and formats etc. all come into play. Those are the areas I've been thinking about for my own project.
As for the best walk-through's of uploading that I've settled on as being really helpful (for me) Bethany Atazadeh's was densely informative (I took 2 pages of notes):
ruclips.net/video/hieHzwxZX3g/видео.html
and Craig of SPE covered most of the same information but with a couple of additional tweaks:
ruclips.net/video/HZtfPsjxT74/видео.html
As I said, I'm keeping notes of my own experiences with a high content book for children.
The take-outs at the end were my favourite parts 😂 but great video and nice to see you giving kudos to Paul
😍🙌
Excellent video. Thank you.
Excellent video thanks love the real step by step process layed out.
Awesome. Thanks for the great information.
I started publishing low content journals on KDP and was actually selling, when suddenly they terminated my account, kept all of my royalties, and claimed I had violated ToS, but literally refused to tell me what I did. So everyone beware of KDP, they will, and do, cancel your account and will steal your royalties.
Could have been some copyright issues because they love to refuse elaborating when copyright issues arise
they hate being spammed with useless stuff nobody buys
Can you not instantly transfer royalties to yo account as soon as they appear in ur kdp royalties dashboard
Can you please tell me an free app or a site to make a journal ❤
Merch did that to me. Waiting for the kdp show to end any minute, likely once I start gaining more momentum lol. Fun fact, my bank returned the wages Amazon tried to take back after initially paying me. They deposited, then the deposit disappeared. Called my bank, they returned it! Who knew? But yeah, beware kdp and merch, they terminate with zero explanation
AN EXCELLENT, TRULY PROFESSIONAL STANDING OUT VIDEO IB THE FREELANCIG CATEGORY! THUBDER content 🔥👌🔥❤️🙌🙏
Thank you so much for the feedback! 🙌🔥
This article may help:
kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G8BKPU9AGVZSF9QF
The 70% and 35% royalties are for ebooks. You have to look at what the cost of printing is to see what a print book makes, typically a lot less. Amazon will give you this info when you create your book.
From Australia: you're the first American I've heard pronouncing "niche" correctly!
Jake works closely with Lenny (who's from Australia) so this may have something to do with that 😂
Thank you for this practical video ! I have a question : After you do all the steps and you publish the first book, how are gonna next books be like ? Are they in the same niche ? The same idea ? And what's gonna be different between them ?
Thank you :)
Use your creative mindset... and trends you see ppl like its all mind game in this Matrix!
Wow! Great info and great tutorial for us beginners, Thank you so much for this!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the content! 🙂
What way to describe so easily 😍

Insane information! Love the help! Definitely Saving this video and sharing with fellow aspiring side hustlers! Thanks!
Hey! Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the content! 🙂 --Lenny
True. Have you ever tried publishing Non-Fiction Books? Are much more profitable in the Short, Mid, and Long term. We've books published almost 4 years ago that still generate money..
This was helpful with the outline graphic s so I don’t just steal what’s out there n get creative n hope people notice the difference n but my book 😅
I'm an artist & want to start making these types of books to sell on Amazon. But my question is, if I upload my own original art how easy will it be for others to steal my artwork? Or would I have to fight something like that if it does happen?

@@junglescout Thank you! 🤘
Very good content on the topic, finally! Thank you!
😍
I was thinking about getting into KDP and discovered your channel. I have a question about the Amazon account that I will be selling from - can I enter my personal bank account information now, when I am just starting and don't know if I am going to earn any money, let alone how much per month, and then change my personal to a business bank account if I get a steady monthly income flow? I do have a purchasing account. Thanks.
Yes, you can.
I`ve been looking for a video about how to make coloring books, then my dad showed me this video.
Great! 🙂 Do you sell on Amazon or thinking about starting?
Or just get book bolt and they do all the research for you 💁🏾♀️
You’ve found success with low/mid content books on KDP?
Really? Interesting I have to check Bolt out more 😊
Yes, but then it’s not free anymore. I pay BB $9.99/month.
@@antoinettejohnson6251 so I have to renew it monthly?
I'm paying $19.99 a month
Thank you for you feed back and as product specialist welcome
As for Canva's free content, I recommend reviewing their terms here: www.canva.com/policies/content-license-agreement/
You can either print a large print version or the regular one separately. However, please do note that it may affect the number of pages due to font size, so this is something that needs to be considered. Here's a KDP discussion on this subject: www.kdpcommunity.com/s/question/0D5f400000f0Ac7CAE/large-print?language=en_US
Very, Very inspirational. Thank You, keith
Thank you so much!🧡
isn't the coloring books fad already dead ?
That's very helpful for the beginners like me! Thank you very much.😊
We're so pleased you found the content helpful! 🤩
Instructions/example for Dimensions on Canva: Cover 17.475 x 11.250 and Inside Content 8.625 x 11.25 .
This is noted in the video at the 12:30 and 18:25 minute marks. Thank you.
😀
Wow 😲...... thanks 😊,you really break it down for me ,and thanks for the template link.it really helps
Royalty is 60%...not 70....just shows how much real-life experience you actually have doing this.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention! We'll definitely check it out!
@@prateekagraw dude. Did you make the video. Appreciation goes along way. Hes not GOD. SMH 🤦♂️
- Jake
This was very interesting and had specific ideas so thanks !!
You're more than welcome! 🧡
Your explanation was very clear and consise, thank you will definitely try this out!

Finally, someone that tells me to NOT touch the PINK line!! The thing about the coloring book interior, the differences of the lines puts me off and always looking to get some lines thicker or thinner, any advice?
