Pfeiffer is the definitive Catwoman. Forever. (When I make it to the Pearly Gates, I will still want her to be Catwoman.) I became a fan of hers after this performance. (She's always excellent.) She looks amazing as Selina Kyle and Catwoman. Iconic.

My love is endless for this film- they perfectly married the camp of 60s batman with the dark tone of the actual comic. Another amazing experience... I treated my friends at Merrill Lynch to the premiere. Two of the girls in Penguin's gang were friends I did videos with, one of whom showed them to Danny DeVito while he was putting on make-up. A stuntman/martial artist I know taught Ms. Pfeiffer the bullwhip (he was blown away) and another partner worked on the set shooting footage for a Batman ride. We put together a behind the scenes video that Warner Bros confiscated from us. Good times.

I've read the original script for this movie, and while some characters were underdeveloped, I liked it and think it would have made a better movie than what we got. The only similarities are Penguin and Catwoman being villains, Christmas setting, the plot point of Batman being framed for murder, and the moment Batman's cape turns into a glider. Everything else was different with the plot being Penguin and Catwoman looking for treasure, Batman is the focus instead of Penguin, Vicki Vale returns, Robin appears, Commissioner Gordon has a larger role, Harvey Bullock appears but is called Eddie, the final battle is in both Wayne Manor and the Batcave, and Bruce proposes to Vicki at the end

Brilliant Film!! Loved how Tim Burton was scared of Christopher Walken! A few years later, hired him to play a scary villain in Sleepy Hollow!!!

I think the Dark Knight is undeniably the best Batman film, but Batman Returns is definitely my favourite. It's a dark, gothic, tragic masterpiece. Beautiful visuals, beautiful characters, and an absolutely PHENOMENAL score by Danny Elfman. I will defend this movie till the day I die

When I first saw it I thought it was just ok my main complaint was not enough Batman, now as an adult I can appreciate it more as it clearly has Tim Burton's weird influence more than the first one, I laughed at the bit of Burton being afraid of Christopher Walken this was when Walken was entering that oddball phase. Danny Elfman's music is again fantastic with the music of the penguins slowly dunking Penguin into the water being a favorite.

I got to see one of the Catwoman suits at the Mall of the Americas in New Orleans when I was in highschool. The one I saw was just a rubber suit for the action scenes. The ones with all the stiches and details were for the closeups the card beside it said but Michelle Pfeiffer had actually been in it. I was really surprised how tiny she was in real life. 🦇

The Burton movies are great! The Nolan movies are great! After having seen it a few time in the theaters now, I have to say that Matt Reeve's movie is also great! They are all vastly different, but they all have something to offer hardcore fans of the character.

In my opinion Batman Returns is the more exciting film than the original Batman. Returns is a gorgeous dark brooding film noir. The Christmas winter setting is a nice touch and goes well with the atmosphere. The music, costumes, cinematography and set design is impressive. Burton is a true visionary. I also love the sexual tension between Batman and Catwoman..Love Michael Keaton as Batman and Michelle was amazing! ❤❤😍😍🔥🔥🔥🤞

Mentioning Paul Reubens without mentioning Diane Salinger is a major oversight, because it was a re-teaming of the pair - Salinger played Simone opposite Reubens in “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure”.

I love when villains like The Penguin and The Riddler/Catwoman (The Batman) play similar themes to the hero's journey, but the drastically doffrent results to the paths. Riddler- Catwoman- Batman were all Orphans and turned out drastically diffrent, Penguin amd Bruce are rich "socialites'' etc

on the second part, Burton gave it exactly what they wanted from the start and weren't happy with it...
Sad we never got the burton trilogy.

I'll never get the issue people have with Alfred bringing Vicki Vale into the Batcave to see Bruce. Alfred already liked her and wanted more for Bruce than his commitment to being Batman for the rest of his days. Enough clues were already there for Vicki to suspect something was off about Bruce before the Joker and crew showed up at her apartment. Finally, Bruce was smart enough to prepare for getting shot by the Joker in Vicki's apartment and then he antagonized the Joker into doing it, then Bruce just disappears before she comes back. Vicki has all the clues/info as well as the tray with the stopped bullet to show Alfred. If Vicki just shows up at Wayne Manor and says "I know Bruce is Batman, let me see him" I see no reason why Alfred wouldn't.

I saw this when I was 9... I saw The Batman in the same cinema screen a few weeks ago. I went in with the same excitement as when I was 9 but, despite a strong start, was ultimately disappointed by how boring and unfocused The Batman was. This was way more fun. I'm baffled by everyone's obsession with realism these days. I don't want my Batman movies to be any more realistic than The Dark Knight. I'd take Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of Catwoman over the recent one every time.

The hype for this movie in the lead up to its release was insane. It was easily the most anticipated movie that year. Even though I hadn’t seen the 1989 film I knew I wanted to see the Batman return to the silver screen and my ten year old self was very perplexed by what I saw. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I could appreciate how hot Michelle Pfeiffer was as cat woman and the action was good but the dark dystopian tone of the movie was a little too much for me to fully appreciate at that age. As much as I hate Batman forever and Batman and Robin it’s very clear why Batman returns wasn’t the happy meal selling film WB were banking on it being. But knowing that burton and Keaton were reluctant to return for the sequel kinda makes the movie more special because the circumstances under which it was made were quite unique. But it ended up being hugely influential anyway and deserves to be remembered as a cult classic

The narrator pointing out Alfred and James Gordon shortchanged role really shows the lack of fleshed out side characters in Burton's Batman films aside from villains who were such the focus of attention that they even take away from Batman's (the protagonist) development time.

Burton really got the shaft on this one. The studio tells him to make a Burton film and then turn around and blame him for making a Burton movie. 🤦🏻‍♂️
I was 11 when this came out theatrically and I went and saw it. I didn’t have a problem with the film then and don’t now. It would be different if the first film was like the Adam West Batman series, I could see how people would have a problem with the sequel having such a drastic tonal shift BUT did they see the first film? It was dark as well, Batman blew up a chemical plant full of joker thugs (he wasn’t out there collecting for the Red Cross). How is seeing Cobblepot’s parents throwing him in a stream any more traumatic than seeing a young Jack Napier shoot Bruce’s parents right in front of him?
Now when it comes to the happy meal toy yeah I can see a problem there but I don’t blame Burton or the movie, it was the studio that pushed for that. Like the video says Burton didn’t wanna be bothered with it.
I think that the outrage was overblown, I go by the Don Bluth mentality that parents don’t give their kids enough credit on what they can “safely” see and that kids (for the most part) can be shown some really dark and disturbing content as long as at the end of the film there is a happy ending.
Between Batman and Batman Returns I think that Returns is the better of the two films and to be honest it is my favorite Batman film out of them all (let’s see how the Patterson Batman film turns out).
