I agree here. So many hardcore gamers know Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Fire Emblem, Dead Rising, Virtua Fighter Xenoblade, but yet, most barely touch the game, especially Project X Zone 1-2.
I've spoken about this with friends in the past but sometimes I really have to wonder; If Fire Emblem Awakening had flopped and really did end up being the end of the franchise, how different would Smash Bros look today? At the bare minimum I think perhaps Robin still would have been made playable and maybe Lucina could still have tagged along but beyond that, who knows? And yes Roy could have still come back as DLC in Smash Bros 4 but I honestly wonder if it wasn't for Fire Emblem Awakening's reviving the franchise and making it far more well-known, maybe Nintendo would have just left him be and brought back someone else. But still, that said, Roy would have been brought back in Smash Bros Ultimate because of the "Everyone is here" goal they went for. Speaking of Smash Bros Ultimate; It would also be very doubtful that Chrom would have been added as the entire reason they added him was because of the massive outcry from fans which, again, probably wouldn't have happened if the game flopped. Not to mention Corrin and Byleth wouldn't have even existed so they clearly wouldn't have been added. It's honestly mind-boggling just how much of an impact Fire Emblem Awakening really did, not just to it's own franchise.
Project X Zone 2 is a national treasure. Every word out of every character's mouth is absolutely memeable, and of course, Chrom and Lucina met....SEGATA SANSHIRO!!!! Also, TMS should never have been an idol game. Idols are fucked up in concept and should not be promoted. It should have been less Persona and a bit more FE.
TMS being an idol game is especially weird when you consider ATLUS otherwise seem to absolutely despise the idol industry if you look at how critcal they are of it in the Persona games
@@MrGksarathy To me they do. I don't know how to describe it but starting from the 3DS era the FE games feel more light hearted and "anime" similar to how TMSFE is. It might just be the larger focus on the characters & support conversations.
So Fire Emblem and Resident Evil are connected through Project X Zone 2, and Resident Evil had crossover with Left 4 Dead in RE6, and that has plenty of crossovers of it’s own. So through a chain of crossovers, Fire Emblem is multiversally connected to Left 4 Dead and other games like Dying Light and Dead By Daylight. I dunno, that’s just pretty cool to me. I wonder how deep the crossover chain goes.
I'll say that im one of the people that still thinks the SMT x Fire Emblem crossover was...still pretty bad. Its just...why??? Why that franchise of all things? It didnt even fit either one, and it barely repped fire emblem well at all. But, hey, im glad people can enjoy it at least.
@@MrGksarathy oh yeah, gameplay wise it's the opposite, no doubt on that, but it's not the same kind of representation, it'd be like having a Star Wars/TLoZ crossover but the Zelda part is that there are dungeons and you use items to progress, like, sure, it's Zelda gameplay, but it's not that much representation. (I wrote the two first things to cross my mind, hopefully it doesn't hurt my example)
Codename steam they are pretty broken units especially robin who has range damage and counters. Project x zone was pretty fun but it should have been chrom snd robin like everywhere else
While I do enjoy TMS, to this day, I wished a more traditional Crossover between SMT and Fire Emblem happened. Though I suspect that Nintendo wouldn’t like to have any of their characters share screen time with some demons like Mara or even Incubus…
It sucks because Atlus fumbled the marketing. The intent was always a silly J-Pop game but they ruined everything with that horribly inaccurate teaser trailer. Had they not made that trailer, I think the game would've been received better.
And it seems like we won't get another one anytime soon. Even though the team expressed interest in another TMS game, sales doesn't look good enough for Nintendo to put more money in the line. Shame because, after hating the game for so long and giving it a chance when the Switch port came out, I can say for sure that it became one of my favorite Megaten games of all time (and also Fire Emblem games lol).
I’m gonna be that guy… the X in Project X Zone is not the letter X, it is a stand in for the word Cross, so the games title is actually ‘Project Cross Zone’
I think a three way is feasible, considering Koei worked on 3H and Conquest. Btw, Conquest was itself a crossover between Nobunaga's Ambition and Pokémon.
It's beyond me how this franchise hasn't had a single crossover with Final Fantasy so far. I could easily imagine many of their iconic heroes as various FE classes.
I haven't even started the video yet but I know this is gonna be (partially) about Project X Zone 2. The original is probably my favorite niche RPG. They're so fucking weird. Edit: It's pronounced CROSS Zone. I'm serious.
Correction: Project X Zone 1-2 aren’t a duology, but rather a 2nd and 3rd entry to Namco X Capcom. The game revolves around characters from other universes being transported into exact times zones the main protags, Xiaomu and Reiji, or in Project X Zone 1, Mii and Kogoro, are in while some like Chris and Jill from Resident Evil, according to Project X Zone 2, present themselves in the same timeline as the protags to simply give them some assistant to complete a mission and task for them. Anyway, aside from that, Project X Zone is quite the crossover fest I’ve enjoyed, especially seeing Chrom and Lucina interact with solo partners while also watching them take on foes from other games like Nemesis and the Oozes from Resident Evil, and the Ustanak from Resident Evil 6.
On the point of representation in the Smash series, you missed mentioning that there are also 6 Melee trophies, 9 Brawl trophies, 24 Stickers in Brawl, 34 Smash 4 trophies, and 79 Spirits; 91 if you count the Fighter Spirits; in Ultimate. The Killing Edge also appears as an item in Ultimate.
I am kinda hoping that FE Heroes has a reverse collab with Dragalia, with Dragalia's main characters showing up in Heroes as their own world has shut down. I mean, the FE# characters are there, why not add another nintendo-owned medieval fantasy series?
Side note about the Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. cross-over: There are exclusive tracks that play in missions when all 4 FE characters are on the team. And they're insanely good metal remixes/mashups of past themes. Some of them can be heard in Smash Bros. Ultimate, be sure to check them out.
Dragalia Lost and Project X Zone are both very close to my heart... I would love to see a third game, perhaps with "HD sprites" in a style similar to Super Robot Wars. There's so much potential for more Xenoblade and Fire Emblem, as well as the other company's games (ie; Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia, Sengoku Basara, Scarlet Nexus, Code Vein, Monster Hunter... not to mention sequels that many other series have now) I remember speculating on my own concept for a sequel to the latter at one point in time, with ideas like Noah & Mio from Xenoblade or Edelgard & Dimitri (+ Claude as a solo unit) lol I've also played Code Name S.T.E.A.M., that game is a lot of fun too
One more thing that probably led to the existence of TMS was that it seems like Atlas also wanted to cross over with Pokémon (remixes of Pokémon songs were found in the code for Catherine) and they were also turned down probably because the Pokémon company wanted nothing to do with an M rated series, so it seems very likely that someone was like “you both were shot down for a crossover you can have each other”
Dang, the cross over with dragalia lost never crossed my mind while watching the video lol. Was so used to having the feh characters as a part of my roster. Oh how I miss you dragalia…
If only there was Project x Zone 3 where they added more fire emblem characters and then some. I would totally pay as I zipping around the room in excitement
I thought and still think Code Name STEAM is super fun and underrated. Gameplay is deep and tactical, there’s local and online multiplayer, and the Amiibo integration is some of the best I’ve ever seen in a first party Nintendo game.
Project X Zone 2 was cool game and I loved the addition of Fire Emblem and Xenoblade characters. I can only hope that if a Project X Zone 3 ever happens that Nintendo joins in on the crossover and allow even more of their IPs in the game
Man, I sorta wish I didn't know about that Fe x Pokemon crossover. Those are my two favorite franchises, and as much as I do love Pokemon Conquest and respect FE Tokyo, I'd trade away those two in a heartbeat for a decent FE x Pokemon crossover.
man I can't believe fire emblem did a cross over with god eater, resident evil, yakuza, street fighter, xeno saga, xeno blade, shinobi, ace attorny, tekken, tale of vesperia,, and .hack oh wait I can for you see I own a copy of project X zone 2, and I honestly think the game is kind of fun in all honesty.
I've been saying for years, that original SMT x FE trailer should've never come out. It, along with the almost 2 years of complete silence from both companies, raised people's expectations too much for what it ended up being. I stand by it being a fun JRPG, especially if you're into dumb anime bullshit. Man, I miss Dragalia. I actually really enjoyed the characters, especially my girl Mym, and the story seemed to be really stepping up from when I stopped playing. And the music is fantastic to boot.
Shame that the most remembered thing about SMT X FE is its horrific censorship. I don't know who's fault it was it happened and who's fault it is the remake got censored even in Japan too but whoever it was I hope they no longer have a job.
Iirc that was entirely due to Atlus wanting the game to be releaseable on as many territories as possible. The censorship making its way to the japanese version was probably a move of laziness tbh, which backfired so hard that Nintendo had to publicly apologize about it and it's likely why the game barely outperformed the OG Japanese Wii-U launch before banishing from the charts.
Honestly, I don't think mild censorship was a bad thing at all, especially since the concept of the game was so fucked up. You are literally helping feed children into the idol machine.
fun fact, the project x zone games take gameplay from a spin off of the super robot wars games, which themselves are a massive crossover of different properties that may or may not have something to do with mecha, emphasis on may not. this means you can draw a closer connection than should be allowed between fire emblem, and various anime such as space battleship Yamamoto, neon genesis evangelion, and pop team epic.
Yeah, Project X Zone is technically a spinoff of a spinoff of Super Robot Wars. I'm pretty sure it's Super Robot Wars > Namco-Bandai x Capcom > Endless Frontier > Project X Zone. I could be wrong because that franchise confuses me.
@@MrGksarathy Sorta. The Namco X Capcom original characters are canon to Endless Frontier, then Sanger from SRW Alpha and Haken and Kaguya from Endless Frontier show up in Project X Zone. After that, Haken in SRW OG The Moon Dwellers makes specific references to his time in Project X Zone. So yeah. I always saw it that the Namco X/Project X Zone series was the game focused counterpart to SRW's mecha.
Personally a mecha fire emblem is the first thing on my wishlist. With the existence of stuff like Escaflowne you don't even have to compromise on the setting. If that happe the chance of having FE in SRW is real.
Dragalia Lost was my favorite mobile game with such an amazing narrative and I’m so sad it’s gone Project Cross Zone 2 also such an underrated gem too, wish the series would continue
Know what's always bothered me? The Falchion isn't even an actual Falchion. Like historically its not some legendary sword like Caliburn. Its just a curved blade with a crossguard meant for greater weight on the tip to allow it more chopping power. Or replace the hilt for a finger guard. It becomes a cutlass. The Falchion as per modern depiction is generally an Epee and demonstrated to be well suited to be that due to how Marth fights with thrusting strikes before doing slashes.
fun fact: there´s a easter egg of fire emblem awakening on a switch game (wich btw have Brazilian origins like me) called Ninjin clash game wich you can buy lucina´s mask when she wore disguising as marth

in fe3 for the snes marisha's grandmother's appearance is a direct reference to the video game kaeru no tame ni kane wa naru, another game developed by intelligent systems. the character her appearance references is mandola, a witch who swindles the protagonist and his friend. kaeru no tame ni kane wa naru characters have actually made cameos in a few other franchises, like zelda (richard from link's awakening) and wario/dr. mario (the mad scienstein.)
@@callmezeldaonemoartime It was a contributing factor into the death of Alphadream. Everything about the story, characters, enemies and level themes were unoriginal and uninteresting.
I was just watching the initial SMT x FE dev trailer, and it hit me how easily people filled in the blanks and crafted this sort of doomsday story that they were convinced would happen, only for the teams to "take a left turn" and go in a different direction that made them not want to even try the game out. After having played some of TMS, I can confidently say that, while IS may have shot themselves in the foot by framing the announcement the way they did, it's a great game and fans of both series should enjoy it (well, aside from the edgelord tryhards).
I appreciate Iwata's "behind the curtain" mentality and that he wanted people to become open-minded about how game dev works, down to the hastily thrown together pitch trailer that might or might not represent the final product, but in the end they really aren't.
I mean, it just didnt work, conceptually, story wise, etc. It barely repped FE, and had numerous questionable writing and character design choices to boot.
It just didn't work, unfortunately, and for me, the problem was the idol game premise. I cannot in good conscience play a game where I help a child become part of the idol machine. I also feel more should have been done to incorporate FE into the mix.

Dragalia Lost giving a Fire Emblem rap is one of many precious memories i had with the game.
I'll always remember it.
Project X Zone getting recognition? It's about damn time! I have both games on my 3DS and I still love em to death!
I mean it did seem like they were actively trolling people with Chrom's infamous: "I suppose I'll get my chance another day" line.
3DS had some whack crossovers, but Project X Zone 2 quickly became one of my favorites for the system. Loved just about everything about it :)
Too bad PXZ2 only did Japanese voice acting, i would have loved to hear Matt Mercer talking to himself.
That'd be too many casting gags.
@@thrasher698 I didn't even think about that. Yikes, I wonder who made that decision, then.
It's so baffling how a Shin Megami Tensei x FIre emblem Crossover has almost nothing in common with SMT & Pre 3DS Fire emblem.
@@co8wei It barely has anything in common with the 3DS FEs.
It can't even be considered a true crossover, it's basically FE with SMT sprinkles, the Crossover distribution is not fair in the slightest lmfao
@@M0D776 I'd say it's the other way round, at least gameplay wise.
Yeah, Lucina should have been the solo support unit.
@@MrGksarathy they also had tiki so she could have teamed with her too if x zone was more of a Nintendo franchise
@@ivanbluecool Exactly. Tiki should not have been left an NPC. Heck, she almost let Ogami peep in her in the Hot Springs Scramble map!
While I do enjoy TMS, to this day, I wished a more traditional Crossover between SMT and Fire Emblem happened.
Though I suspect that Nintendo wouldn’t like to have any of their characters share screen time with some demons like Mara or even Incubus…
FE usually teeters on the edge between T and M anyway.
Chrom and Lucina interacting with Natsu makes me want a Fire Emblem x Soul Calibur game
If we ever get another soul caliber game on a nintendo platform a fire emblem guest character would be great.
@@HoshitheLycanroc Byleth would be a great pick with multiple weapons but Marth would be a nice safe bet.
I was so excited for this crossover video because I played so many and wanted to know the opinion of the crossovers by someone else
I’m gonna be that guy… the X in Project X Zone is not the letter X, it is a stand in for the word Cross, so the games title is actually ‘Project Cross Zone’
Fire emblem X Pokemon would have been so dope but I guess Pokemon conquest was a fair trade off in the end.
No need to be serious. The phrase "cross it out with an x" exists. Heck, simply crossing something out means to put an x over it.
@@nicodalusong149 I'm not angry or upset, I said "I'm serious" to clarify I wasn't joking.
Code Name STEAM, my beloved.
Abraham Lincoln mech battles were too good for this world 😢
Damn, now I miss Dragalia lost again.
Paper Mario (GameCube) had a toad referencing fire emblem.
It *ROCKS MY SOCKS!!!*
Anyway, aside from that, Project X Zone is quite the crossover fest I’ve enjoyed, especially seeing Chrom and Lucina interact with solo partners while also watching them take on foes from other games like Nemesis and the Oozes from Resident Evil, and the Ustanak from Resident Evil 6.
about the dragalia lost fire emblem event, they made a weird fire emblem rap version of the main theme that is kind of amazing
There's so much potential for more Xenoblade and Fire Emblem, as well as the other company's games (ie; Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia, Sengoku Basara, Scarlet Nexus, Code Vein, Monster Hunter... not to mention sequels that many other series have now)
I remember speculating on my own concept for a sequel to the latter at one point in time, with ideas like Noah & Mio from Xenoblade or Edelgard & Dimitri (+ Claude as a solo unit) lol
I've also played Code Name S.T.E.A.M., that game is a lot of fun too
One more thing that probably led to the existence of TMS was that it seems like Atlas also wanted to cross over with Pokémon (remixes of Pokémon songs were found in the code for Catherine) and they were also turned down probably because the Pokémon company wanted nothing to do with an M rated series, so it seems very likely that someone was like “you both were shot down for a crossover you can have each other”
Man I love Project X Zone 2! Ace Attorney and Fire Emblem together!
still waiting for that SMT X FE game 🙏
Dang, the cross over with dragalia lost never crossed my mind while watching the video lol. Was so used to having the feh characters as a part of my roster. Oh how I miss you dragalia…
I miss dragalia, so much. That cpllab was really good and some of the characters were still top tier up until the end of the game.
Project X Zone 2 was a masterpiece.
Still my fav game since all these years
If only there was Project x Zone 3 where they added more fire emblem characters and then some. I would totally pay as I zipping around the room in excitement
I miss dragalia lost so much... Uhggg nostalgia! Please nintendo, gimme back my chonky fluffy dragons!!!
Monolith seems to bussy making xenoblade games to make any more of the project x zone games.
The Pokémon crossover never come to reality is such a shame. A FE game which would talk about the Kalos war could be awesome!
Hey, could still be a thing. Pokemon always shelves unused ideas for future use. Probably just need to remind them or something.
I just noticed Chrom has made almost the same amount of crossover appareances as Marth, my man has been around.
Man, I sorta wish I didn't know about that Fe x Pokemon crossover. Those are my two favorite franchises, and as much as I do love Pokemon Conquest and respect FE Tokyo, I'd trade away those two in a heartbeat for a decent FE x Pokemon crossover.
I think the best would be a Nobunaga's Ambition x FE x Pokemon crossover. As I've said in numerous comments, Koei has basically worked with all 3.
man I can't believe fire emblem did a cross over with god eater, resident evil, yakuza, street fighter, xeno saga, xeno blade, shinobi, ace attorny, tekken, tale of vesperia,, and .hack oh wait I can for you see I own a copy of project X zone 2, and I honestly think the game is kind of fun in all honesty.
I’d love to see a whole video about Dragalia lost, I think it had a mega man crossover at one point.
Also, keep up the great work!
The crossovers were pretty wild. Fire Emblem, Persona 5, Mega Man, Monster Hunter, and a lot of Cygames other games had characters make an appearance.

I deadass forgot segata sanshiro was in x zone i gotta finish that game. Anyways dragalia lost my beloved
Project X Zone is a trip.
fun fact, the project x zone games take gameplay from a spin off of the super robot wars games, which themselves are a massive crossover of different properties that may or may not have something to do with mecha, emphasis on may not. this means you can draw a closer connection than should be allowed between fire emblem, and various anime such as space battleship Yamamoto, neon genesis evangelion, and pop team epic.
I can't wait for Fire Emblem to somehow get into Super Robot Wars./j
Considering Project X Zone is adjacent to it, it wouldn't be surprising.
@@epiclinksam9805 Didn't Sanger get trapped in Endless Frontier after Project X Zone as well?
Personally a mecha fire emblem is the first thing on my wishlist. With the existence of stuff like Escaflowne you don't even have to compromise on the setting.
If that happe the chance of having FE in SRW is real.
Its time for The tiki bot
I didn't realize this was Ghast's channel until I saw the dude and dog looking like the Bloodlines characters lol

Dragalia Lost was my favorite mobile game with such an amazing narrative and I’m so sad it’s gone
Project Cross Zone 2 also such an underrated gem too, wish the series would continue
I'd rather live in a timeline where Pokemon Conquest was an FE crossover and Tokyo Mirage was a Nobunaga's Ambition crossover.
...Damn, Conquest was an amazing game and all, but now I kinda wanna see what the universe where Pokemon x Fire Emblem DID happen looks like
And didn’t TMS cause an uproar from The SMT community since it was actually a Persona meets Fire Emblem crossovers
fun fact: there´s a easter egg of fire emblem awakening on a switch game (wich btw have Brazilian origins like me) called Ninjin clash game wich you can buy lucina´s mask when she wore disguising as marth
We need that Fire Emblem X Pokemon collab. Heck, they can do a Digimon X Fire Emblem thing and it would be fun.
Switch port for Tokyou Mirrage Session came out in january 2020, not late 2017
Fun Fact: Marth was scrapped from appearing in the first Smash Bros Game along with characters like Bowser, Peach, etc.
Project X Zone... God I regret missing out on that back when I had a 3DS.
Nintendo! Please please please please give us Pokemon x Fire Emblem/Pokemon Conquest 2! I need that game and it's been over a decade since Pokemon Conquest 1 on DS! Please!
Me too, and it's actually feasible, since Koei developed the OG Pokemon Conquest and has worked on the 3 Houses duology.
Thank you for remembering Dragalia.
The crazy thing is, the crossover in PxZ2 is cannon in the SRW OG series.
That SMT crossover is such a dream lol.
I remember it clear as day too.
I really need to play Project X Zone 2 one of these days. Actually featuring Dante from the devil may cry series.

I've only used my device on Echoes once, so I don't remember
in fe3 for the snes marisha's grandmother's appearance is a direct reference to the video game kaeru no tame ni kane wa naru, another game developed by intelligent systems. the character her appearance references is mandola, a witch who swindles the protagonist and his friend. kaeru no tame ni kane wa naru characters have actually made cameos in a few other franchises, like zelda (richard from link's awakening) and wario/dr. mario (the mad scienstein.)
I had totally forgotten about Codename STEAM... What a cool game. It's such a shame that it flopped, it's one of the best looking games on the 3ds.
TMS is the true example of how to NOT do a crossover

@@callmezeldaonemoartime It was a contributing factor into the death of Alphadream. Everything about the story, characters, enemies and level themes were unoriginal and uninteresting.
If SMT × FE went as originally developed, it would've been Fire Emblem Engage
Honestly. Engage also has a bit of the Fate series in its DNA.
Cant wait for Fire Emblem X Mario pretty soon 😰
Pokémon Conquest is one of the major reasons I was able to get into FE.
So the thumbnail is the same person meeting each other?
