Daniel: "This video is not properly edited and is more conversational"
Video: *has points presented in a clear logical order and visuals are cut and zoomed in on to match the subject matter*
I guess Daniel has high standards for what a proper edit entails. Whatever that looks like must be mindblowing.

Then Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a great place to start. Three Houses, the first entry to launch on Nintendo Switch, leans into the social aspects of its gameplay more than any other game in the series. Its school setting allows the player to teach, train, and learn more about their students before the battle.

    • @BigKlingy

One thing I like about the tutorial (despite how railroaded it is) is that it actually explains recruiting enemies. I know a lot of people who started with Awakening killed Tharja and Gaius. To someone familiar with the series, it's obvious those two are recruitable and you need to talk to them with Chrom. If you're new though? Not so much. Engage is even worse, with only ONE recruitable enemy and it's not until Chapter 18.
Meanwhile, this game uses a small subplot with Dorcas to clearly demonstrate the concept to the player, preparing them to encounter it in the future.

Honestly the characters turning to adress you is one of the best examples of natural and immersive fourth wall breaking and is actually 11/10 level brilliant at least from a certain perspective, it allows the game to be told in a second person (talking to you) and 3rd person (watching others) perspective and they do it so naturally you don't even notice the fourth wall is being broken even though characters are looking at you through the screen

FE7 is my personal fave of the GBA FE trio, and other than Awakening and Three Houses, I’d say is the best entry point for people who’ve never played an FE game. The only thing that makes it less accessible than the others I mentioned is that it only has classic mode, since casual mode had yet to be introduced, making it so all your units permanently die. But I guess NSO having save states and rewind feature does alleviate that to some degree. Nonetheless, if you have the expansion pack and haven’t touched an FE game, I couldn’t recommend this enough.

This was my first FE ever, and I can't agree more. Blazing is up there as one of my all time favorites. Good cast, good prequel, and Hector and Lyn and Eliwood.
And of course, their totally believable disguises. And Nils and Ninian. Gosh I just love this game, glad to see it rec'd. Some downsides in my opinion is that it won't be as easy to pick up and play as something like, say, Awakening, so I tend to rec that or FE Echoes SoV to newbies since I feel you can reeeelatively get a decent mix of challenge and not depending. My big fear as a longtime FE fan is always "am I gonna scare away people new to this stuff if it's TOO difficult?"
Like, it's easy to know how all the systems tend to work for me now (I mean hell, I play FEH and read the novel-length skills...), but if you don't have that info it's hard and can be daunting. Thankfully I think FE7 does a good job gradually tutorializing it, since really, Lyn's mode feels like the entirety of that prologue situation. There's also the bonus fun of picking your tactician's gender and the differing reactions of Sain and Florina! ... I typed so much, oops. FE7 rules.

This was my first Fire Emblem back on the wii U Virtual console. That tutorial is still the best in the series and I highly reccomend it as (respectfully) baby's first FE. While future games do get easier FE 7 explains the fundamentals better. Plus the story is easy to follow and more typical of a Fire Emblem plot. I love 3 houses but, it's story is a bit of a departure for the series. The characters are also great Dorcas for life!

While not every feature in the recent FE games is perfect (no game is perfect) I still do enjoy them overall. Also something you forgot to mention is that there was technically that official English release of FE1 but since it's no longer available legally I can understand why it wasn't mentioned.

This game was my very first as well, and admittedly, the only one I made it to the credits as all later games never caught my interest as much for whatever reason. Never finished Hector's Tale, but I still have fond memories of Lyn, Eliwood and Hector as a trio with their armies I helped lead to victory... and with so many hard resets because of course there weren't savestates then.
Considering how attached I am to the characters and this universe, it does sting we never officially got Roy's game translated. I would've loved to see how Eliwood and Hector retroactively became as older men... and I heard Lyn doesn't show up, so we're left to imagine how she looks and what she's been up to... or if she's even Roy's mother at all as a potential romance choice for Eliwood.
Also yes, Lyn best girl. Sad she isn't playable in Smash Bros, but an Assist Trophy is the next best thing... though I felt her voice was too low from what I imagined.

Was so cool how the whole story became a first person experience where the characters would literally face the screen and talk to you. I often wondered though why they didn't let you join in the action, like imagine instead they let you create a generic class, hair color (when necessary), gender, and even a portrait creator or some default ones to pick from. I mean they kind of did this with Robin, but yeah woulda been awesome on the GBA titles.

I'll agree that Blazing Blade is a good starting point, as after all, it was my starting point. I was introduced to it through my friend who had it on his GBA. Whenever I hear "Guy" used as a name, I still think of Guy from this game. I liked him for some reason. I'll also agree that Lyn is great and that the crit animations in this game kick so much ass. Awakening is probably the other best starting point since that was the beginning of modern Fire Emblem. Or Three Houses cause...you know...the Switch.

While I generally prefer the strategy gameplay of Advance Wars, I’m glad it helped pave the way for Fire Emblem to come to the West. And I’m especially glad that Fire Emblem’s modern popularity helped bring Advance Wars back from the dead.

Eh, i will say that FE8: The sacred Stones was a better starting point for the Fire Emblem franchise, mainly because of its more "friendly" difficulty, but i digress, Fire Emblem for GBA, FE7 or FE The Blazing Blade, whatever anyone what to call it, is still a great turn based strategy RPG and Lyndis, or just Lyn, is one of my personal favorite female characters in the franchise.

    • @amirgarcia547
      @amirgarcia547 Год назад

The only issue I have with FE8 is that it’s a bit too easy. And so while it’s also pretty good starting point, I feel like it won’t give you the tactical, strategy-based gameplay that FE is known for due to rarely requiring…well, any strategy. Whereas FE7 is far more balanced in terms of difficulty, where it starts out relatively easy but gradually becomes more difficult as the game progresses.

As a veteran of the series, here are some tips to completely TRIVIALIZE the game:
    1) Use Marcus, bro can 1v1 the game even on higher difficulties
    2) use the cavaliers (all do them). Their high movement combined with swords and lances, and rescue/drop utility makes for terrific units
    3) Lyn and Eliwood are garbage the most common weapons in this game are lances so they fight with a constant disadvantage and they can’t attack at range. (You can make them work even on the hardest difficulty)
    4) you can use multiple units of the same class (again use the cavaliers)
    5) don’t be afraid to use more expensive weapons, hoarding is a pitfall

    • @cavaliertechnician4953
      @cavaliertechnician4953 Год назад

Speed is still a good stat but 0X0 is still 0. Her con is trash so she can’t make effective use of heavier swords unlike someone like Marcus, Raven, and Harken. And all 3 of these characters I just listed have access to 1-2 range weapons like handaxes. Bows are terrible because they only deal double effective damage against fliers. Also Lyn doesn’t have a mount, unlike eliwood when he promotes. She also has terrible bulk unlike Hector. Also her Uber late game weapon “sol katti” is weaker than a silver sword and is heavier than Basilikos. Lyn can dodge but that is rng dependent and with a majority of enemies using lances makes it harder to dodge. And even against axe foes Marcus is better because higher movement. Mani Katti is a decent weapon but it only deals double to cavs and armor knights

I'm in the anti-tactician camp, personally. I would rather see the characters talking to and bonding with each other, rather than talking into the screen like on Dora the Explorer. The fact that I didn't play Blazing Sword (I refuse to call it Blazing Blade because its prequel is "The Binding Blade," so they would both be abbreviated to "FEBB." Plus their Japanese titles use completely different words for swords anyway, "Tsurugi" for Roy's game and "Ken" for Eliwood's.) until I was an adult and it came out on Wii U Virtual Console probably helped shape this perspective.
Say what you will about the writing of the individual avatar characters (and many players already have,) but at least they exist as part of the setting and have an impact on it, they're not just an explanation for the cursor and wall to chuck tutorial dialogue at.

Personally I think path of radiance is a better starting point as it does pretty much everything blazing sword does, just better (except battle style, map & battle sprites are obviously superior to low res gamecube models) Good short tutorial that doesn't get in the way of a fresh save file, better support system, better music, better story, better writing, better characters, better sequel, it even has a japanese exclusive stupid hard mode if you're into that sorta thing. As a long time fan who's played every game I find blazing sword & awakening are too safe & repetitive to recommend playing more than once. Path of radiance on the other hand, while very long, is far from repetitive so I can't stress enough how good it feels to play. But of course not everyone's willing to emulate which is a shame because if any game series should get you into emulation, it's probably fire emblem, but hey, use what you got. Blazing sword isn't a bad first game by any means, but I wouldn't say it's perfect

The first fire emblem game I ever played was warriors on the switch. I just finished this came till the end of Lyn’s story.
The thing is it gets pretty boring after that.
It is very addictive. Especially when you need to split up the group to go two different ways to make sure everything is covered.
    But. Gets a bit boring.

Whenever I get people into fe i never ever recommend where i started which is radiant dawn whatever you do don't start there it's the least friendliest fe game beside maybe fe4 for beginners really easy reason pointing out there is almost no tutorial and how baseworks in the game along with miss translated difficulties and being a direct sequel to the game before it. I much as i love the game i strongly recommend blazing blade or awakening for beginners
