50 mph in the left lane on the hwy, while SUVs pulling trailers are passing on the right. This is the kind of guy to pull up next to a semi and block the hwy.
Ha! No different from twin turbo v6 in the ram that is in ford ecoboost or in the new tundra...turbos high compressions means fast wear and tear....oh yah did I mention expensive....nothing beats or ever will beat a good ole fashion V8.
What specifically wears out faster on turbo charged engines?
Inline engines will outlast v8s or v6s
@@michaelpincavitch5245my Jeep 4.0 agrees
@@michaelpincavitch5245 Why do you say that?
Ha! USA old fashion V8. No auto start, or eco modes...just v8's. Inclines ok...but I'll keep my V8's thank you very much...while your inline struggles to tow or haul you will say "🤦♂️ should had a v8!"
So glad I have a 22 rebel hemi without hybrid. This might be the truck I actually keep. I’m sure the hurricane has awesome power but they sound funny and a 3 litre engine at that state of tune to
Make that power sure won’t be lasting 200000miles
I have a 21 rebel without the etorque... I feel the same way!!
@@bertf.291 I Agree ! My 2020 Ram 1500 - 5.7 HEMI ( Non E Torque ) Black Midnight Edition, just turned 60,000 miles. Zero issues, with the exception of the Tail Gate Support Cable service bulletin ( Left ) that they replaced. I'll be keeping this Truck for a long time. Had a 2014 Ram , 87,000 on it when I traded it in for this 2020. Again, no major issues . Maintenance is the key to all vehicles, no matter what you drive ! I'll take my HEMI over that Turbo Charged in line 6 , period.
Pop that pimple 😂
LOL I was thinking the same thing 😂
Me too
Probably pretty fun empty, but I would rather have a nice simple larger displacement naturally aspirated V8 which will give you more bottom and torque be cheaper over the long run More reliable
But it won’t give you either, and we don’t really know if it’s not reliable yet

Well said Ben, your words, if this is reliable...... No engine oil dipstick, depending on electronic sensors for a correct oil level reading, I hope the twin turbos hold up, only time will tell. Definitely a smart looking truck, I'll give it that, and how long will that air-suspension last before one has issues with it......? Will be interesting to see how many of these make it through the warranty period with no substantial issues. I hope they last as long is relative to how much they cost.
The no dipstick for engine oil really kills my business for buying this truck. If this becomes a trend for all new engines, it will be just as if not more disappointing than when most companies stopped putting in dipsticks for transmission fluid
@@user-fl5ee5rr9b acknowledged, but many vehicles you can still install a transmission dipstick, then utilize it as before. I’ve done the research into this no engine oil dipstick, and nobody is making a compatible aftermarket kit as of yet, if it will even be possible to integrate one.
@@orionschroeder9401 I know you can get I transmission fluid dipstick aftermarket, but it seems like a bit of a hassle when manufacturers could do it themselves
@user-fl5ee5rr9b absolutely, completely agree! It's a cost cutting measure on their part, and planned obsolescence so to speak as it makes it difficult for one to even check the ATF fluid level.
Lets give the new engines 5-10 years and see how they are when they hit 80-100K mileage, then they can call it a success, i am sure a new Toyota was 'smooth' until it wasn't
And do the same thing with Toyota, they are working on fixing what's going wrong with their engines

HO requires premium fuel, the standard output can run on 87. Although I’m sure it would benefit from premium as well.
My 2015 GMC Sierra 5.3L V8 gets me 21mpg on the highway and its almost 10 years old , also engine has never given me any problems
I had success with my 5.3 also but they are just a bit under powered compared to the comp.
Just remember that there is a class action lawsuit in place for the valve lifter problem on your 5.3 Sierra that GM has known about but unfortunately ignored. I hope you don't experience any problems, though. My brother has one too, but his truck has been fine. I think his is a 2019.
@mgsmith7475 if there's a recall on it they took care of it for me , I've had my truck dealer maintained since day one , I think I remember a recall on the 4x4 shifting , they fixed it too just needed a software update , but so far almost 10 years old and it's smooth and strong .
You’re lucky then. After 2 terrible experiences with the 5.3 went eco boost and it’s been rock solid for 3 years. Cylinder deactivation and direct injection really did a number to the reliability of the 5.3.
Had a 2012 GMC 5.3 that had a lifter go bad taking out the camshaft. Expensive fix at 80,000 miles. The 5.3 is a dog compared to my Ford 3.5 ecoboost. The ecoboost has been reliable now for 50,000 miles. Much more towing power than my old 5.3. GM really wrecked a good engine though with the cylinder deactivation.
HO only available in highest trims. And needs 91 octane.
Came to say this. Can't get the HO outside if a limited. Don't even think you can get it on a longhorn which is technically a limited.
@riccochet704 it's ok, open a company, payoff truck, close company down, walla you got a limited tesla RAM hybrid freeee. 😂
@@riccochet704 2025 Longhorn comes standard with the HO. I don't think you can even get the SO with it, I'm not seeing the options anyway on Ram's site. I have a 2022 Longhorn, with the HEMI, no etorque. While I love the HP numbers on the HO, I'm hoping I get longer life and reliability out of the HEMI. I keep vehicles a long time. I wish RAM had kept the HEMI, and instead added the Hurricane as new options.
Doesn't quite work like that @@Mr._POV_
Recommends 91, 87 is acceptable with lower performance
Why are you staying in left lane?? Ha ha
I'm assuming you're asking "why" is he driving in the left lane? if that's the case then the answer is cuz he can, cuz he's not towing, cuz he's already driving faster then posted speed limit, any other questions?
perhaps a DMV driving course refresher would suit you.

This RAM is such an awesome truck. I purchased one in 2019 with the HEMI and it's a Limited new body style. I have 182,000 miles, it's never been in the shop and I do the regular maintenance every 8,000 miles. I absolutely love this truck. I will buy this new Limited with the HO Hurricane next with what I can see. You have to drive one of these vehicles to really feel how impressive they are.
87 vs premium octane on a daily driver, big difference if you drive many miles at all. The power is impressive and I love it. For us it would be a SO Bighorn.
Remember the standard output actually has a higher tow rating.
How long was this new engine design tested.
Did you have the air conditioner on while driving ?
I hope it turns out to be decent engine with limited issues.
Nice tutorial
I drive at 2500’ elevation and get 15 mpg in a ram 2500 diesel. But when I go to the mountains around 5-7k feet I tend to get 17-18mpg. Less power but better fuel economy.
My concern on this engine personally is longevity when it comes to towing and whatnot. It’s not a tried and true engine and they are just jumping straight into it putting it in everything.
Hurricane is a ticking time bomb. It’s also inefficient. Why does it require that much boost to make power? They are already seeing lots of problems in the Wagoneer. I’ll keep my Hemi.
Ben, HO is high trim level only. So youre not getting it unless you pay for 8t.
Looks like you have to have the steering cocked to the right when going straight.
Ben needs a haircut
Stellantis is known for over boosting engines, they gave it just enough power to be reliable for warranty terms. Look at the Alfa Romeo Gulia Qudrafollio, they put a 2.9 L v6 under the hood with 500hp, even the stelvio version with that engine have alot of issues, the cars have to be dismantled 50 percent just to repair an oil leak. Stop the hype.
whats flashing on the sides of the cluster?????
If you get an aftermarket exhaust I will say it probably won't sound as good as the hemi because it's not a V8
If the engine doesn't blow up and the transmission doesn't go out maybe you might have something however with all the problems with stellantis you might be stuck with a company no longer in business and no warranty I guess in my opinion it's a risky choice
Leather - I had a King Ranch and you had to baby that leather. Now I have a Lariart which you do not need to baby the leather.
Of course it’s not struggling at high elevation, turbos eliminate elevation air loss
No dip stick too check the engine oil, no thanks.
Good review. Thanks
That H.O appears to be a beast. .curious to see how long term they are
Ram is a great truck but i really question their wisdom with the new engines. Think ill wait another year or two.
Great idea. Let the others be the guinea pig
i got 2022 limited after one year i got better gas millage now then was new and it:s with every truck
Shocks yes. The 3l TT Shirt is a shock. The V8 is the best engine!!
The 6.4l and 6.2l hemi supercharger with 550 HP is the better engine for the Ram

right, you would think these engineers knew truck people better than this.
There are only a few of us left that actually check oil. I think they dont care about that anymore.

Any jerky shifts from the 8 speed?
Same test but pull a trailer with it and see if it starts gear searching.
I need massaging seats why won’t ram add this feature😢
Turbos do not care about elevation. Cmon hardy!
Ram is slow to put blind spot protection on mirrors on the 1500's unlike many other brands
Hey its a young grizzly adams. The beard doesn’t go with the voice.
It will blow up or catch fire like everything else Stellantis makes.
It would have been nice to actually SEE the truck!!!?? Not one picture of the exterior of the truck
Nice truck to buy and take it on long trip or short trip
What about a medium trip?
I agree, very comfortable truck and it rides like a dream.
If Ramcharger is priced 50k to 80k most trims it will take over both ice/EV truck sales
Why would I get this truck when I can get a ram 1500 trx? Doesn’t make sense

15 City/21 HW - This truck
17 City/23 HW - 5.7 Hemi
Oh, it's shock people, alright. By how unreliable it is. If people want to know the full story on that engine, go to TKs' garage. He's been talking all about the 3.0 hurricane engine, and none of it is good. In my opinion, Ram would have had better luck keeping the old Hemi and just updating it. Or keeping it as a standard engine and offering the hurricane as an option like Ford does with their F150s. Maybe that's why Ford and GM still keep kicking Ram's ass in the sales figures. I guess Ram and Toyota must have missed the memo about customer service. That memo is give the customer's what they want, and you'll have loyal customers for years to come. Take away what the customer wants, and you not only lose new customers but loyal customers as well.
Ford have had tons of recalls recently, they are really low on reliability right now. Manufacturers in general don't care anymore.
I wonder why Dodge didn’t make a 3 liter twin turbo v8. It would sound better.
Does the 6 cylinder have a taller stroke than the Hemi did?
Prob not, smaller displacement would rlly make sense if it did
GM & Ford: "Omg they're literally sending us new customers"
Poor guy. Hate shortens life. Turn to Jesus soon.

The Ford F150 EcoBoost still has better fuel economy than the new HO.
forced air suspension on high trims is a mistake. Mine has been a nightmare 10+ failures in 2 years
The air suspension was great on both my Ecodiesels. As a Ford guy, the F-150 desperately needs four-corner air suspension on at least the King Ranch.

I bought my 2022 RAM 1500 Limited Longhorn with the Hybrid 5.7 V-8. One of the main reasons why I bought it. Now they only have 2 new straight twin turbos. Additionally, no oil dip stick. There is a reason why RAM sales are down 20% this year. No V-8 and many people like me will not be buying a 6 cylinder RAM. KEEP ON ROCKING!
Have you driven one? I recently drove a Wagoneer with the SO Hurricane and let me tell you, that torque down low is intoxicating! I've had many V8s over the years, but this motor drives like the big blocks of old.

Too bad the prices on RAM trucks will have them getting lot rot. And add in crap APR rates. No one is buying them RAM is going to have to offer 1.99 for 72 months and take 18K off to get people to buy
Imagine having to replace turbos for $7000. The days of longterm reliability in vehicles these days are long gone.
Like the hemi was bulletproof
@fjoco1 it had its issues, but with maintenance, they go to easily 300k kms. There's a reason they were used so long
With vehicles becoming more complex it's understandable to assume that they have become less reliable but it is in fact the opposite. In the year 2000 34% of vehicles would last on the road for 15 years. Now over 55% of vehicles last 15 years. The average lifespan of a vehicle today is around 200k miles as opposed to 150k miles 25 years ago. Believe it or not but on average, vehicles today are safer, have more power, are more fuel efficient and yes they are more reliable than they've ever been.
I wonder how reliable these engines are?
Time will tell. No dipstick, twin turbo, air suspension...odds are against it.

Question is who cares why would we want a small engine in a heavy truck just more work for the engine breaks sooner than a bigger engine that will get less wear and tear over time due to the fact that it doesn’t have to work as hard
I wouldn't like not having a dipstick to check the oil....That's just not a good idea...I want to see what my oil looks like not just the level

@@BloodAlwaysFindsItsLevel Hey Preacher, Jesus also said not to judge others.
Not impressed, my sons 2019 ram will do better than that
Ben, I don’t think anyone really cares anymore about more power. All of these trucks have ridiculous amounts of power. I think all of us would prefer simpler higher efficiency engines that last 300,000 miles along with very high quality materials plastics, leather, wood, etc. Regardless of trim level with these costs people deserve longer lasting, lower costs to operate and much higher quality interiors. But so far all these manufacturers seem capable of doing is reducing options, introducing more power while maintaining or loosing fuel mileage when moving from a V-8 to a turbo 6.
Rams leadership should all be fired. They were doing a damned good job until about 4 years ago when they decided to raise prices through the roof in order to pay for the massive costs of designing and delivering extremely expensive EV’s that cannot tow or haul with any reliable usable range. While gutting their companies to WOKE leadership and political ideology of the left, they are producing (RAM and Ford in particular) vehicles with fewer options, tremendously expensive price tags and this supposed “all new Ram” is nothing more than sticking an old technology inline 6 in with a 20 year old turbo design and calling it new!
What Ram should have done was develop a new more efficient V-8 and the inline 6. Then they should have made a true mid life update to the sheet metal and interiors. The new Rams look just like the old rams except they are using reduced quality materials and reduced options. When was the last time RAM offered new paint colors? It’s been the same run of color now for 15 years.
Ford is even worse. They keep reducing the quality of materials in the cab, using cheaper or removing all together wheel well liners, engine shields and even removing sound insulation. All the while they pay their presidents $25,000,000 to $35,000,000 million a year which is about 800x what they pay their average employ. Go back to 1980 and CEO’s of auto manufacturers made 10x their white collar employees. The progressive left movement for the people has been a lie that has made Oligarchs and career politicians super rich.
People better wake up or they’re going to find they are nothing more than slaves to the leftish woke elites who see themselves above the law.
