yeah, its overkill but would kill you instantly when RNG Gods decided to NOT bless you when big monster attack. i'd rather had 5 Guards and 2 shield activated plus guard up. it has better defense and shield even comparing to Lance
The main issue with running the narga TSS set-up on HBG is that losing Artillery Secret means that you have to sink a ton of attack skills in to get to cap damage. Meta builds drop defense in order to fit these skills and STILL struggle to get to cap without outside buffs. The math favors that 30% proc rate on TSS though, so a narg build is considered to be the DPS meta. Once you choose to drop ALL of the attack skills out of the build, however, you're going farther and farther away from cap damage while also running a lower-rarity armor set with less room for other skills. You essentially drop damage so much that you'd be better off running the alternate brachy + god peer set for Artillery Secret and a lot more room for damage and utility skills.
Exactly. TLDR: If you’re picking a random armour set used in meta builds and slapping a bunch of defensive skills and calling it an endgame set, you’re better off picking a meta set with more slots for more customability.

Agreed. In my opinion there is no better option than Raging Brachydios armor + the extra shot charm for a Sticky Ammo Build. His 110 dmg per shot with the Heavy Bowgun are a joke even my Light Bowgun does more (around 120~ per shot).
this build was put together in anticipation of extreme alatreon, having slightly higher damage on your stickies and dropping divine blessing secret is a large loss to survivability
What are you guys talking about, True Spare Shot (3p Narga) is literally meta for sticky. You get lower damage per shot, but TSS makes your clips 42% bigger, which is a big DPS increase in itself (regular Spare Shot only makes your clips 25% bigger) and also makes it less likely you’ll have to restock. Look up the meta sets, you will see that Narga armor is meta/max DPS for sticky, the small difference in defense doesn’t matter. 4pc Raging Brachy with SS charm is the comfy alternative.
@@Heisenberger_29 My hbg build does 160-180 per shot (its not even a full dmg build) which means i need far less shots to kill. I can literally give a fuck about the (25% vs 42%) 17% clip size difference because my dmg output is between 45-63% higher than in the shown build besides you get more slots, better defense and better skills out of brachy armor. I dont need to restock my stuff if i hit around 90% my shots. And i play with the lv 3 KO skill + power barrel bowgun mod. After i stun the monster they get up and are stunned again and again and again. If i had better aim and better movement reading just like him in the video i could kill everything in no time.
You just can only get true spare shot only with narga armor, the defense difference isn't like heaven and hell either Tbh i don't like tss that much normal ss is fine for me I don't say tgc's build is optimal either or "end game", his build kinda goofy First rule to play sticky "hit the damage cap first and rest survival skills" and in this era damage cap is very very easy to reach
are you sure this is DEFENSE build? man, what kind of defense HBG only had 2 Guard skill and 1 active shield? Have you ever fight Tempered stygan zinogre or tempered rajang on Guilding Lands? those monster would tear you apart even with Divine Blessing level 7. level 5 guard with 2 shield and guard up was the true defense, i could literally blocked shara isvalda and furious rajang mouth blast without flinch. oh yeah and tempered stygan zinogre triple slam too.
For spread 3, I would consider guard 5, but HBG is actually very good with spacing and stickies, so you would just roll away from your target until he simply cant reach you, which means the guard and guard up are primarily for blocking ranged attacks.
I would drop jumping jewel for Ko jewel to max my slugger. I would drop the 2 recovery jewels for iron wall +4 and iron wall to max my guard. I respect your decision for running divine blessing secret but since there is a sticky cap, agitator secret should be better to hit the sticky cap as divine blessing secret cannot reach that (unless you fortify {add one slot on demonlord beastbuster and drop 2 damage sticky cap} or of course play with a horn user}. Also agitator helps in cluster and wyvern and as a rule of thumb, end game emphasises on damage over defence (and considering guard 5 is no glass cannon, together with lv20 upgraded armours)
Regular Nergigante is more a of a nostalgia monster. When the game came out he was the only one that consistently carted me. When I did his tempered I almost cried defeating him.
Why use recovery up when there's max potion. Why DB5 when there's guard5 guard up skill. You can't always take a chance for DB to proc when there's guard5 for defense. Any chip can be recovered by health regen augment. You have no offense skill, just the PP1. Sorry, I can't use this build.
1. I was demonstrating that recovery up fits into the build, but to answer your question, many monsters deal good chip damage, and being able to avoid sheathing with the slowest sheathing weapon in the game just to eat max potions allows you to have more up time to attack. So health regen is actually quite valuable on a HBG 2. I do like guard and guard up, but in this case the HBG is actually very skilled at outspacing thanks to its long roll and the fact that stickies work from a ridiculous range, that means you may only need guard up for certain long range monster attacks, like kulves beam. DB5 is there to save you if you make a mistake, and to further reduce chip damage. 3. Stickies actually have a diminishing return when you try to reach their damage cap, its very easy to replace some of the other defensive skills on the build with more offensive ones. I think people have an inflexible mindset towards only building glass cannon builds, but do not consider extreme alatreon could be around the corner.

Jeez, the Heavy Bow Gun is just gross. This dude brings a trash build with hardly any offensive skills and still does more damage than every melee weapon in the game. I'm over here trying to figure out how to hell I'm gonna fit 7 points of affinity, 3 wex, 3 crit boost, some attack boost, and more. In the end I might get a paltry 2 health boost for defense... meanwhile, a HBG joins my SOS and does 3 times my damage all the way from the back. At least bow has to build properly to do stupid damage and actually has some semblance of combos, but the HBG is just gross.
The build isnt trash its a build that optimizes for defense and offense, rather than just offense, a lot of people dont understand what the point of that is, yet I remember how many players never even bothered attempting extreme behemoth back in the base game, and Im anticipating the release of extreme alatreon, so this is my opportunity for me to teach people how to build for divine blessing while maintaining high damage. Additionally, youre right, the build does tons of damage
Personally I preferred normal Nergi compared to the one we have now, ruiner isn't even that hard of a hunt and his classic dive bomb was entirely replaced which I thought was wrong for them to do.
In all honesty you could fit SO MANY more skills into that build if you just used spare shot instead of true spare shot. If you cultivate blast nuts you'll never really have to worry about running out of bullets. I just honestly feel like this build is a little lack luster. Sticky HBG and you don't have slugger maxed out? And no Art 5? I mean, seriously? I do really like the recovery speed. That's a cool skill most people overlook. Kudos for that. You're absolutely right about Agitator too. I think personally though I'd max out slugger and then maybe cram in tool specialist and palico rally. People really underestimate palico rally for solos. Oh and Guard. If needed I'd probably go guard over palico rally.

But after watching this and learning from the sticky bomb 3/Cluster bomb all my friends ask me to join their quests now. Man it makes so much sense to focus on recovery instead of max defense for those times you make mistakes (which mistakes are going to happen eventually)...I’m running demonbuster with divine blessing secret, recovery, evade extender and razor sharp maxed. I fiddle with other gems from time to time but you took my hunting to the next level thx bro!!! Edit: and the amount of KO’s I get is insane!!!
I know hbg are op but it kinda kills the fun of typical aggressive fast and furious playstyle which monster hunter boasts. Which is why I mains dual blades and charge blade. I only pull up my hbg card as a last resort maybe against monster I can't beat in a single hunt.

Because as a hbg user too i really pay attention to monster’s move so i can maintain my safe zone (sticky is most safe/comfort playstyle imho) Maybe i still understand if u play spread+shield if u/other hunters still struggle to maintain when to shot
While I consider sticky ammo to be one of the safest ammo types in the game, Ive also played it enough to know that vs a very difficult monster you do end up at risk. Capcom showed us with multiple fights, like arch tempered Nergigante, and Extreme Behemoth, that they know how to punish bowguns.
TheGameconomist so do you know that alatreon has almost one shot AoE attack (or in previous series) so you need to add DB5 ? Because mhw is my first mh and havent do enough research also this build is for alatreon or all around build?
@@rexalavosier mhw is also my first, not a hbg main but i am lance main , i think chip damage for hard hitting monster really hurt, db 5 reduce that damage with or without shield. and they are really tricky to deal with especially without health regen going
I wouldn't run TSS it's a waste of armor slots you can fit so many more skills using other armor set, bullets are the least of your concern. Guard 3 if you have 3 shield mods guard 5 for lower, shield up is a must don't rely on rolls, block is more efficient for HBG.
Ive definitely considered this many times and think that swapping to a Normal ammo setup could actually lead to an even tankier build but it would require you to use normal and miss out on the KO's

Its better use: 1. agitator 7, artilery 5, spare shot, dmg around 110-120 per tick without buff except attack L from food (using bracydium set) or 2. Agitator 7, artilery 3, with upgraded spare shot (using your build) with attack around 90-100 per tick without buff except attack L from food and is any safi weapon that can be compared with furious rajang weapon for sticky build? Im looking to a build that can use Agitator 7, artilery 5, and upgraded spare shot frok 3 set of nargacuga... pls help... thanks before
Maximum set bonus count is 6. Brachydio four pieces gives agitator secret and artillery 5. You need three pieces to achieve true spare shot. 4+3is don’t equal to six so it is not possible.
Bruh ! Why would you not run artillery 5 over divine blessing? You literally used only explosive damage... You could still have blessing at 3 if you want but damn. And damn, recovery is icing on the cake XD. This is 100% troll build i think.

I’ve been on a real strugle to get those Vitality / KO Jewels. That’s keeping me away from a lot of META builds that I ever saw. Any hints on how to get them or is this completly ramdom?
@@iMoD190 This is true. The beastbuster and magda make it easy to craft all without waste though, since you have an even-numbered clip. As soon as your clip is empty, you go to relaod and craft at the same time. You wind up never wasting a blastnut.
So does anyone here use the razor sharp/spare shot charm? Because then you wouldn’t have to use the nargacuga armor set. Artillery level 5 has been absent in most of these HBG builds. Wasted opportunities!
I uss it on my build actually. I run kirin legs + raging brachy and razor sharp charm. Artillery 5 is nice, agitator just a bonus, but the slots really just godsend. Not the best deeps, but still blasting holes and lots of flexibility with skills

Narga bonus beats artilery secret on Rajang HBG sticky. You can still reach max sticky cap without artillery 5. And narga bonus works with all ammo. Cluster is still more dps.
I prefer a block5 with guard up so i can focus on other damaging skills like peak3 or artillery5 or even slugger3. This is just NOT an endgame Build. Sry but this is your first dislike from me😢
well no worries man, everyone for themselves when it comes to making these builds. in my case, i prefer this build over block5 because i don't have access to so many ironwall jewel, whereas the decos and the armor pieces shown in this build are relatively accessible to again, it might be the build that people can get comfortable with. but i respect your opinion so have a nice day
you don’t lol. my girlfriend got it by accident while playing through base game, and i’ve spent 100s of hours farming for it off of Lavasioth and have only received Sharp jewels. if you don’t get it within a straight few months of constant farming, just build the Bulwark Charm and give up. deco drop rates in this game suck

@@KhoiBoa The Guard Up deco doesn't drop from IB feystones so there's no point in farming Tempered Zinogre. The most efficient way is to farm Lavasioth with the safi aquashot LBG (or other favorite weapon), you can capture him in 2m30s or less for 2 guaranteed warped. Finally got my Guard Up deco yesterday with this technique. Do no bother waiting to grab feystones from the floor (just a quick check after capturing him), they mostly give you mysterious or glowing.
Divine blessing secret does sound attractive. However, 10% increase in damage reduction for one more level, and two more levels for plus 10% and an increased activation chance didn't excite me to use the set bonus often. I was hoping for like 70%-80% damage reduction for the upgraded divine blessing skill. Maybe, 90%? Of course, Capcom is too stingy when giving out fun skills to play with.
The guy plays for over 2000+ hours and 1800+ HBG, still runs Divine Blessing 5 on stickies - the easiest bowgun, and calls it an endgame build. Sounds legit.

Sniper Grilll you do realise HBG is his main right? He says he hasn’t fought Ruiner Nergigante that much but with his amount of gameplay, he probably has fought him more than the average person. Using divine blessing 5 on his main weapon with 4000+hrs of experience is ridiculous
These builds arent glass cannon speedrunner builds, I designed them in anticipation of extreme alatreon, and they are for the public as a whole. I think that's really disrespectful to attack people for simply fitting just one more defensive skill onto their weapon, and not good for the community at all. Maxing out damage on stickies actually has quickly diminishing returns, and if extreme altreon comes out, a lot of players will undoubtedly be rethinking their glass cannon builds, and Im ahead of that with my own strategies.
I like the build. When I reload that's the only time your vulnerable but with divine blessing that will make it alot safer. Especially against kulve taroth.

Not necessarily. Certain monsters like Rajang and Zinogre can cause decent chip damage with or without a shield.

Dude your a genius! Thank you so much! As a switch axe main before ice borne I struggled learning HBG in iceborne. But after watching this and learning from the sticky bomb 3/Cluster bomb all my friends ask me to join their quests now. Man it makes so much sense to focus on recovery instead of max defense for those times you make mistakes (which mistakes are going to happen eventually)...I’m running demonbuster with divine blessing secret, recovery, evade extender and razor sharp maxed. I fiddle with other gems from time to time but you took my hunting to the next level thx bro!!!

I know hbg are op but it kinda kills the fun of typical aggressive fast and furious playstyle which monster hunter boasts. Which is why I mains dual blades and charge blade. I only pull up my hbg card as a last resort maybe against monster I can't beat in a single hunt.
There are reasons why the HBG is a comfy weapon for comfy builds.
Will you do an SBG video as well? Or can i simply go for the same skills with it?
Excuse me, not trying to be an elite but Can i ask why you put DB5 on ur build? Because as a hbg user too i really pay attention to monster’s move so i can maintain my safe zone (sticky is most safe/comfort playstyle imho)
Maybe i still understand if u play spread+shield if u/other hunters still struggle to maintain when to shot
its not elite but logical, 5 level Guard is far more better than Divine Blessing on sticky HBG. if he put it on LBG then its another story.
While I consider sticky ammo to be one of the safest ammo types in the game, Ive also played it enough to know that vs a very difficult monster you do end up at risk. Capcom showed us with multiple fights, like arch tempered Nergigante, and Extreme Behemoth, that they know how to punish bowguns.
TheGameconomist so do you know that alatreon has almost one shot AoE attack (or in previous series) so you need to add DB5 ? Because mhw is my first mh and havent do enough research also this build is for alatreon or all around build?
@@rexalavosier mhw is also my first, not a hbg main but i am lance main , i think chip damage for hard hitting monster really hurt, db 5 reduce that damage with or without shield. and they are really tricky to deal with especially without health regen going
I still use your other sticky set up..i would use this but I'm missing the guard up decoration 😔. So I'll keep my guard level 5 with 3 shields.

I use a spread heavy bowgun build with special ammo boost +2 and Wyvernheart.

I wouldn't run TSS it's a waste of armor slots you can fit so many more skills using other armor set, bullets are the least of your concern. Guard 3 if you have 3 shield mods guard 5 for lower, shield up is a must don't rely on rolls, block is more efficient for HBG.
Ive definitely considered this many times and think that swapping to a Normal ammo setup could actually lead to an even tankier build but it would require you to use normal and miss out on the KO's

Hi TheGameconomist, its always good to use your build to be my reference when I'm building my own sets in MHW... but I need help to decide (maybe you can give me good reason which build is best...) Its better use:
1. agitator 7, artilery 5, spare shot, dmg around 110-120 per tick without buff except attack L from food (using bracydium set)
or
2. Agitator 7, artilery 3, with upgraded spare shot (using your build) with attack around 90-100 per tick without buff except attack L from food
and is any safi weapon that can be compared with furious rajang weapon for sticky build? Im looking to a build that can use Agitator 7, artilery 5, and upgraded spare shot frok 3 set of nargacuga... pls help... thanks before
Maximum set bonus count is 6. Brachydio four pieces gives agitator secret and artillery 5. You need three pieces to achieve true spare shot. 4+3is don’t equal to six so it is not possible.
Bruh ! Why would you not run artillery 5 over divine blessing? You literally used only explosive damage... You could still have blessing at 3 if you want but damn. And damn, recovery is icing on the cake XD. This is 100% troll build i think.

@@TheGameconomist understood tgc, and the spareshot procc'ed a ton in the footage itself. But i think there are better optimisations for "endgame" hbg builds over divine blessing 5 and recov. This would be better titled a tank/survivablity build.

Is there any particular reason you don't just craft all the ammo at once? I really don't see why you'd craft the shots one at a time.
it stops you from wasting materials by crafting ammo while already near the cap.
@@iMoD190 This is true. The beastbuster and magda make it easy to craft all without waste though, since you have an even-numbered clip. As soon as your clip is empty, you go to relaod and craft at the same time. You wind up never wasting a blastnut.

So does anyone here use the razor sharp/spare shot charm? Because then you wouldn’t have to use the nargacuga armor set. Artillery level 5 has been absent in most of these HBG builds. Wasted opportunities!
I uss it on my build actually. I run kirin legs + raging brachy and razor sharp charm. Artillery 5 is nice, agitator just a bonus, but the slots really just godsend. Not the best deeps, but still blasting holes and lots of flexibility with skills

I run 3 pieces nag and 2 pieces raging brach. It's a common hbg sticky build.
On my regular Sticky build I drop divine and take agitator secret, its on my channel, these builds are min/maxed for defense and offense

-Gold. Lunemail b+// -Hard Defense 4, -KO 2, -Vitality 1
-Zorah Gauntlet b+// -Vitality/KO 4, Defense 1
-Gold. Lunecoil b+// -Vitality/KO 4, -Destroyer 2
-Zorah Spurs b+// -Hard Defense 4, Destroyer 2
-Ironside Charm V
You end up with:
Defense lvl 7
Artillery lvl 5
Guard lvl 5
Divine Protection lvl 5
Health Boost lvl 3
Slugger lvl 3
Flinch Free lvl 3

Mantles are preference but I personally go with Glider (-Hard Enduring 4, -Medicine/Destroyer 4) and Temporal ( Two Drain 1) mantles
This build is for comfort and Lazy Farming
The cons is that you have to time your shots and have to replenish at least once during a hunt.
Narga bonus beats artilery secret on Rajang HBG sticky. You can still reach max sticky cap without artillery 5. And narga bonus works with all ammo. Cluster is still more dps.
Can you do an end game build for SA and CB?
I prefer a block5 with guard up so i can focus on other damaging skills like peak3 or artillery5 or even slugger3. This is just NOT an endgame Build. Sry but this is your first dislike from me😢
well no worries man, everyone for themselves when it comes to making these builds. in my case, i prefer this build over block5 because i don't have access to so many ironwall jewel, whereas the decos and the armor pieces shown in this build are relatively accessible to again, it might be the build that people can get comfortable with. but i respect your opinion so have a nice day

Farm the Lavasioth event quest.
you don’t lol. my girlfriend got it by accident while playing through base game, and i’ve spent 100s of hours farming for it off of Lavasioth and have only received Sharp jewels. if you don’t get it within a straight few months of constant farming, just build the Bulwark Charm and give up. deco drop rates in this game suck
+400 just grinding for guard up and still i didn't get it. I have multiple of every rare jewels. I am losing my sanity farming lavasioth.
Is he the only one that gives guard up ? What about the greatest jagras event quest? Im looking for guard up skill too.
Dont do lavasioth anymore. Do TEmpered Zinogre. More chance to get them.
@@DhruvaDevOnline only glowing, worn and warped drop this decoration, with warped having the highest chance at 0.30%, worn at 0.10% and glowing at 0.02% which is RIDICULOUSLY low, even 0.30% is too low of a chance to drop.
@@KhoiBoa The Guard Up deco doesn't drop from IB feystones so there's no point in farming Tempered Zinogre. The most efficient way is to farm Lavasioth with the safi aquashot LBG (or other favorite weapon), you can capture him in 2m30s or less for 2 guaranteed warped. Finally got my Guard Up deco yesterday with this technique. Do no bother waiting to grab feystones from the floor (just a quick check after capturing him), they mostly give you mysterious or glowing.

Divine blessing secret does sound attractive. However, 10% increase in damage reduction for one more level, and two more levels for plus 10% and an increased activation chance didn't excite me to use the set bonus often. I was hoping for like 70%-80% damage reduction for the upgraded divine blessing skill. Maybe, 90%? Of course, Capcom is too stingy when giving out fun skills to play with.
divine blessing secret is hella broken my guy.. im having a ton of fun tanking atks with it.. its just that this set is not one to use it
4 recoil? Wtf I use 2 recoil 2 quick reload 1 shield since Furious Rajang HBG is doesn't has any strong recoil
it has a slight different fire rate for the sticky with 4 recoil mods but yea i get your point
With 4 recoil you can shoot sticky 3 ammo extremely fast

The guy plays for over 2000+ hours and 1800+ HBG, still runs Divine Blessing 5 on stickies - the easiest bowgun, and calls it an endgame build.

Sniper Grilll you do realise HBG is his main right? He says he hasn’t fought Ruiner Nergigante that much but with his amount of gameplay, he probably has fought him more than the average person. Using divine blessing 5 on his main weapon with 4000+hrs of experience is ridiculous
These builds arent glass cannon speedrunner builds, I designed them in anticipation of extreme alatreon, and they are for the public as a whole. I think that's really disrespectful to attack people for simply fitting just one more defensive skill onto their weapon, and not good for the community at all. Maxing out damage on stickies actually has quickly diminishing returns, and if extreme altreon comes out, a lot of players will undoubtedly be rethinking their glass cannon builds, and Im ahead of that with my own strategies.
