Why even have ranked then if we have SBMM. In league if you play a normal game the skill level is highly varied and the games are still enjoyable. Its because people are not trying their hardest since they know their opponents aren't tryhards and the stakes are very low. In CoD SBMM you are put against the biggest tryhards over and over again and get absolutely stomped because they are playing the most meta weapon and playing like their family is held hostage. You are probably a bad player who gets put into very easy lobbies
Same with rocket league. SBMM makes no sense in a world where ranked modes exist. In rocket league if you want a relaxing match with your friends, you queue a normal game. If you want tough opponents and to really try your hardest, you go in ranked.
As a guy who used to buy cod every year back in xbox360, I can tell you why cod sucks now. It’s over complicated, they overdid the simple design, it’s overpriced, the client is needlessly complex and chaotic, and the player-base is weak for many cod games and game modes. COD excelled as an arcade shooter, zombies was fun too, but they overdid it way too much. CSGO is simple as hell and it’s still going strong. I don’t really play fps games anymore but if cod was good I’d definitely pop on once in a while

One of the main issues with SBMM (for me at least) is the time and connection part of it. Very interesting to me that you defend this SBMM system at all. When you consistently do well in a game like MW3 2023, you will eventually and gradually start getting worse queues for matches and you will eventually and gradually get a poorer connection. This is proven by plenty enough people that I don’t need to argue its validity. When I’m playing with my friends and we are doing very well..we shouldn’t end up with 3-4 minute queue times to get put in lobbies with people in Ireland and UK. We are from the east coast of the U.S. btw. But that’s exactly the type of thing that can, and does sometimes, occur. That is absolutely not okay and that absolutely never used to happen in CoD before a specific point in time. I’ve been playing this series since 2007 and I don’t play too much anymore because of these issues. I’m not interesting in being in a fairly even match if I have 100-150ms ping on top of ridiculous queue times. If the algorithm is so worried about all of these statistical factors that I have to have shit ping against people in Ireland because they can’t find me a suitable lobby in this whole country..that sounds an awful lot like a system that shouldn’t be in a game that they want people to have fun with. Because it’s not fun. I think a lot of people would agree with me or at least share similar frustrations. But I’ll just stick to these great single player games that keep coming out

Also how can you say "COD's matchmaking doesn't [heavily base on skill]" when at 6:47 you're showing the charts indicating a correlation? There are plenty of other valid arguments to take, such as "People have years of practice playing so the average skill is up" or "PC accessibility and popularity has increased". I can follow the anti-smurf argument, as someone who smurfs in CS it definitely is frustrating for others so I'm encouraging my friends to play unranked with me, but the problem is that playing in harder lobbies doesn't feel like a reward, it feels like a punishment in part due to just the volatility of game-to-game performance.
cold war is the last game where player data can be extracted so its impossible to do data collection in more recent games and its assumed they still use the same system. volatility is what people ask for when they disavow sbmm because their core argument is that "every match is sweaty i want randomness", so despite there being "skill influences", theres still high volatility in opponent and teammate skill, which emulates the "random" lobbies people loved so much in older games
ranked play doesnt use sbmm's algorithm, i talked about it in the video. not to mention ranked is basically a different game with 90% of core content banned

cold war is the last game where player data can be extracted so its impossible to do data collection in more recent games and its assumed they still use the same system. volatility is what people ask for when they disavow sbmm because their core argument is that "every match is sweaty i want randomness", so despite there being "skill influences", theres still high volatility in opponent and teammate skill, which emulates the "random" lobbies people loved so much in older games
ranked play is supposed to be sbmm why put it in public’s
ranked play doesnt use sbmm's algorithm, i talked about it in the video. not to mention ranked is basically a different game with 90% of core content banned
@@Jaynesslessly okay but for any normal person playing ranked it feels exactly like skill based match making. Lowest level bronze be carrying the higher levels some how. why is everyone good now. Every single game is a struggle to win in ranked or public now. just not fun. if your super competitive all around the get at it

And what about turning a corner and your bullets all of the sudden turn into marshmallows? Or the fact that in any other game I run a 10-20 ping but cod I’m 100-200ping? You need to open your eyes. its possible that connectivity is a legitimate issue, i don't know why we are blaming match making for that tho when the recorded data proves the difference is marginal between skill levels. maybe theyd actually improve servers and connectivity if people complained about that instead of sbmm
@@Jaynesslessly you are completely blind. They mess with your ping to manipulate your gameplay. COD is the only game where one match I have 150ping and then 50 ping on the next. It even say in their blog post about sbmm that there goal is to make you win just enough so you want to keep playing. The outcome of the matches are determined before you even start the match.
