Let's be honest here. Fallout 4 story was lame, boring and lazy. And Bethesda didn't put much effort to it because they knew players will be more interested in playing post-apocalyptic minecraft. Only around the Far Harbor DLC they read one too many fan-mails about Obsidian Entertainment and thought "Hmm, maybe we SHOULD do some semblence of a compelling story. I mean people love New Vegas because of that."
This why I loved Fallout New Vagas. Yeah there was faction endings but there also was the "I'm right" ending. Where the Courier takes full control of the strip and surrounding areas.
Yeah if you can manage remaking the game and fixing all its issues like when you open up a window because you wanna watch something and the game crashes in 2 seconds or when the game crashes because you walked 12 meters or when you crash because you opened up the game on fullscreen, or when you just can't open up the fuckin game on fullscreen, if you can get passed all that I'm sure anyone can enjoy the wonderful story it tells.

I find it funny how that although the game almost pushes the main quest line too hard and modders have addressed that fact, people still blame the developers for players choosing to get distracted from finding their son. If the game forced you to find your son before you could do anything else, people would be complaining about lack of RPG elements and sandboxing options.
_I find it funny how that although the game almost pushes the main quest line too hard_ The problem is that the main quest line fizzles badly and pushes players into doing base building (and thus scavenging for junk) and the general weapon system further requires crafting (which also pushes the player into scavanging for junk), and as a consequence the tempo that you might have felt goes away. That being said, the story is dreadful, there's no emotional bond with the son, there's barely any emotional bond forged with the characters we're pushed into playing, and it feels too much like the story is on rails. The dialogue and the inflexible main quest forces you to do things a certain way. _If the game forced you to find your son before you could do anything else_ That's not the alternative, though. It's not about forcing players to do anything, in fact it is quite the opposite. If finding your son is important then it should be possible to make that the priority, but instead you have to slog through all the usual main quest nonsense that takes all kinds of turns before the "shocking" plot twist that your son has actually already lived and grown up to become a villain and is now dying. Since it isn't possible to really focus on finding kiddo ASAP, the story (and the dialogue) should reflect that. But instead the protagonist is borderline schizophrenic, some times being borderline hysterical and the majority of the time paying no attention whatsoever to the situation. And it is of course entirely brain-crushingly weird when you think about how you're supposed to believe that your baby has "just" been kidnapped by a murderous psycho with all the baby-caring skills of a hungry hyena. Any half-decent parent believing him- or herself to be in that situation would be bouncing off the nearest wall in hysteria. _people would be complaining about lack of RPG elements_ Incidentally, that's one of the big problems in FO4. You don't get to roleplay. You get to play a role defined by Bethesda, and that's not the same thing.
The engine wont allow it.. that's why everything floats or flys so it doesnt clip through lol even the vertibirds are just "equipped armor" that's why they died so easy. Or the trains are just npc's equipped with a train for a helmet.
From a lore perspective, it is technically possible to fix _some_ automobiles in the Fallout universe, because the Highwayman in Fallout 2 actually plays a significant role in the game. Also the NCR in New Vegas can be seen unloading a few old military cargo trucks at certain bases, implying they use a few restored vehicles for logistics, they're just static models, but their positioning implies they are being actively used. It would make sense that you don't see many vehicles running though, because cars are already super complex and prone to failure when you don't factor in the nuclear reactors, after two hundred years, only ghouls would really have the first hand knowledge to repair a pre-war car, that or someone with military training and lots of schematics and materials - such as the NCR. I would like to see in a future Fallout game the ability to restore a motorcycle, as an optional side quest, a car would still be a bit of a stretch in the lore, but a motorcycle is both easier to fix, and more practical in an apocalypse.. Plus it'd give you a way to travel across the map quickly without having to ruin your immersion.
don't forget enclave got a NASA crawler launcher to still work an super mutants, yes the common idiots, rigged up a super big semi truck (that would make Android #13 cry in patriotic pride) to haul people to dip in green stuff back in fallout 2. yet we can't fix up a car or the various motorcycles in game....hell some raider's camps have nearly pristine hogs set up right out front as if it was driven then parked there, after seeing them somehow hot-wire military grade power armor I'm not surprised if they the only ones with working wheels....
I invaded diamond city with the nukaworld raiders there’s a mod you can get where instead of just small settlements you can raid the biggest places you can even raid the institute
8:55 They can’t get kidnapped if they are all wearing your extensive collection of power armor you set up in an ornate fashion … spending many hours… now your settlers are all tanks
Damn, I was expecting the opposite gag about trading with your settlers, after the way it went for my communities in FO4. "You're just giving me a gatling gun and a bunch of combat armor?!" "Do you know how many Gunners I run into? I've got fifty each of the damn things no one can afford to buy off me, go nuts." Which also makes me wish the Gunners had shown up in this one. They're an army with numbers, gear and training that could match up with the Brotherhood, but the writers of the game didn't realize that, so the Gunners aren't even considered a faction.
Gunners are just raiders with better gear and an actual hq. No better than the nuka world raiders. And no surprise they only fight to advance themselves just like every other faction but the minutemen.
@justinkimberlyrowley4465 and yet they have no writing. No dialogue, no lore. The fiends and powedergangers were more fleshed out then one of like 3 enemy factions in 4
2 of those 3 things are agreeable. The 3rd is not. NOTHING ever needs a reference to Fallout 76. Some super hacker needs to craft a virus that actively seeks all Fallout 76 data everywhere and destroys it so completely that the most sophisticated recovery software in the world wouldn't even be able to tell you something was there to try to recover in the first place.
One of which is actual Creation Club content (not actually made by a modder either, so it's DLC really). It would be perfect if the sword had been a steel one and not iron, but it's still relevant.

@@rajansekhar3750 it was just skyrim with guns and without magic basically. And a few different mechanics, but most of them were better in skyrim IMO. Eh, kinda not. As much as i wish the second half wasn't 'which faction runs this bitch', one of the factions is essentially racist techno facists, one's dedicated to freeing the enslaved synths, and the last faction's both making and enslaving the synths, and using tech an entire army of BoS crossed the fucking US to deal with. Their whole ideologies, the very reasons the groups exist, are in conflict - railroad and institute i could see becoming okay, if institute sees gen 3 synths as deserving of rights, and stops their whole invasion idea with you as the director. BoS are WAY too anti synth, and anti too advanced tech, to make peace even if you're the paladin. Even if you could take over, the BoS wouldn't shrug and just drop their ideologies. They ordered one of their top allies to be killed because he was a synth - not secretly an institute mole, just 'different'. BoS could've been the army, institute sort og governent/scientist stuff, railroad being like fbi/cia covert shit, and minutemen retaking the commonwealth and settlement/helping the people would've been interesting, but there's just no compromise with the BoS and institute's got a 'ends justify the means' mindset.

Let's be honest here. Fallout 4 story was lame, boring and lazy. And Bethesda didn't put much effort to it because they knew players will be more interested in playing post-apocalyptic minecraft. "What does all of this junk have in common? It's all more important than your son." Fallout 4
Yes, because it's not like every other RPG game does the exact same thing.
It's quite true though
I find it funny how that although the game almost pushes the main quest line too hard and modders have addressed that fact, people still blame the developers for players choosing to get distracted from finding their son. If the game forced you to find your son before you could do anything else, people would be complaining about lack of RPG elements and sandboxing options.
_I find it funny how that although the game almost pushes the main quest line too hard_
The problem is that the main quest line fizzles badly and pushes players into doing base building (and thus scavenging for junk) and the general weapon system further requires crafting (which also pushes the player into scavanging for junk), and as a consequence the tempo that you might have felt goes away.
That being said, the story is dreadful, there's no emotional bond with the son, there's barely any emotional bond forged with the characters we're pushed into playing, and it feels too much like the story is on rails. The dialogue and the inflexible main quest forces you to do things a certain way.
_If the game forced you to find your son before you could do anything else_
That's not the alternative, though.
_people would be complaining about lack of RPG elements_
Incidentally, that's one of the big problems in FO4. You don't get to roleplay. You get to play a role defined by Bethesda, and that's not the same thing.
Collecting junk is the best part of the game

So fallout 4 charactrs can have a working boat, blimp, and optimise prime (liberty prime) but not a single car
And working Vertibirds
Or a fucking broom.
don't forget enclave got a NASA crawler launcher to still work an super mutants, yes the common idiots, rigged up a super big semi truck (that would make Android #13 cry in patriotic pride) to haul people to dip in green stuff back in fallout 2. yet we can't fix up a car or the various motorcycles in game....hell some raider's camps have nearly pristine hogs set up right out front as if it was driven then parked there, after seeing them somehow hot-wire military grade power armor I'm not surprised if they the only ones with working wheels....

"Do you know how many Gunners I run into? I've got fifty each of the damn things no one can afford to buy off me, go nuts."
Which also makes me wish the Gunners had shown up in this one. They're an army with numbers, gear and training that could match up with the Brotherhood, but the writers of the game didn't realize that, so the Gunners aren't even considered a faction.
Buy all the vendor's ammo/ stuff they sell for 1 cap so you can exchange more loot,
1 cap ammo is effectively 1 cap later
Gunners? Oh you mean reskinned raiders
Gunners are just raiders with better gear and an actual hq. No better than the nuka world raiders. And no surprise they only fight to advance themselves just like every other faction but the minutemen.

Eh, kinda not.
