Jeff Porcaro himself was the first to say he would never take any solo, ever. This sounds more like the percussionist having his time while Jeff's playing..
Hi there, thanks for the message. My Father worked for Paul McCartney on Gve My Regards To Broad St. Jeff was the Drummer, along with John Paul Jones, Dave Edmunds &, of course, Steve Lukather. I would go onto the set during filming at Weekends & school holidays. As I was alone & intrigued by Jeff`s drum kit, continuously hanging about it, one day he asked me if I`d like to learn how to play. I jumped at the chance so every Saturday, when time would permit, he gave me an hours lessons on rudiments. The last day we saw each other he hugged me & that was the first time I ever really experienced missing another person. My Facebook page is full of my childhood lessons with him. I still play & am eternally grateful to Jeff for spotting my talent. I still miss him. ~ Matthew St John Higgins.
Matthew Higgins That was awesome...still would like more details...what rudiments, how old you were, other lesson info and stories. Incredible experience. Facebook link?
Matthew Higgins love it! I was poor and obsessed with drumming growing up. My pal Andrew Robb in high school owned the instructional video of Jeff's, and I borrowed it. I watched it and when he painstakingly explained the half time shuffle with the snare ghost notes and the proper hit hat accents? well it was beyond my comprehension. I watched it over and over for 2 weeks till i had it and it was a real game changer for my playing in all areas. He is tops in my books and what a loss to drumming for him to have to leave us so young. You are a lucky man Matthew! PEACE!!
If Jeff was your 'life' you should be able to recognise the solo that comes from the percussionist on the timbales and Jeff as always is the groove master keeper!
Jeff Porcaro was indeed the best. It's terrible that this was overshadowed by the percussionist. I want to hear jeff play drums. Not some annoying timbale solo. Having said all that, thanks for posting!
Not a drum solo per se, but we all know what a brilliant groove master Jeff was with brilliant timing and feel! I hoped to have been similar doing so few drum solos but music as it was an in heavy rock people just wanted thrashy showmanship. The good old day haha!

The percussionist is Chris Trujillo.
I completely agree with you. 🥁👍🏻
You're exactly right. He was an emotional timekeeper.
He did. ONCE. In 1973 at the behest of Mr. Sonny Bono.

He was playing both the precision and drums what a genius
No, there was a percussionist, having his fun, while Jeff was keeping rhythm and time

Lenny Castro
@@wpochert It's Chris Trujillo.
jeff would be pissed of seen the title of this... he did the backup groove for the latino steve wonder percussionist. :)
There is no solo here. Jeff wasn't a solo guy and he said so himself.
Love Jeff’s playing! he is missed!!
This is pretty much the percussionist's solo on Jeff's drumming.
Jeff was an insanely good pocket/groove drummer and recording artist, he wasn't a soloist
Jeff played music. Thats what people want to hear.
So THATS where Phil Collins got the Timbantiocha from!

Is an Chris Trujillo Solo, not Jeff... Never Jeff!!!!
Watch all the other videos too!!!!!!!!!!
Un grande
I feel his drumming beat is Sharp. 緊張感があって、ビシっと決まるショット。。。
Is that Luis Conte?
This is more about featuring Chris Trujillo than Jeff.
Awesome percussionist taken away from us way too soon.
The percussionist who actually played the solo is not dead.. it's Lenny Castro.. Jeff didn't do solos .. ever
@@wpochert Chris Trujillo played back then on this tour. Lenny before and afterwards.
@@itsarni I see that now 😇
That's a Lenny Castro percussion solo :)
Is that it ?
bubuti bum!
FAIL. Not a Porcaro drum solo.
Yeah, the fast Mushanga groove at the end of Africa live at Montruex 1991 is more of a solo, but still Jeff wasn’t really a solo guy.
Sori ei Pinnacle studio 14 toimi niin värkkäsin äkkii tällaisen...
I tried to send you over some photos of Jeff & I, but couldn't. Why not get in touch ? My Facebook page has some;
Matthew St John Higgins
not a Porcaro solo....mostly not even him
so much clickbait
Lenny Castro percussion solo. Porcaro never soloed
That’s Chris Trujillo not Lenny.
Ei mikään paras koska tää otsikkokin on liiän vähän aikaa eikä näy kunnolla...
これはソロではない。ソリである。
Percussionist is the star of this so called solo. Jeff you were a genius at groove but a dud soloist.
