Great review pal.I think its very cool that you take the time out of your day to do this.I've tried them all over the 40+years I've been painting and I ended up with the Iwata 80.I've got two Satas sitting in my garage.I do mobile repair and paint and Iwata has been the most durable and highest quality. The Satas really disappointed, clogged up,broke,I was having them refurbished all the time, that's why I bought three.anyway, the Starrs were great for the money and DeVilBiss is a good gun hands down. The thing that made me an Iwata customer for life.I dropped an 80 and it broke right under the cup.Id had the gun over 4 years.Emailed Iwata and they sent me a new one within a week,"keep the old one for parts" Also,no gun atomizes and sprays metallics like Iwata,IMO.I have an LS400 for bigger jobs and that thing is incredible. But thanks for the review,I'm gonna check out the AZ 40.Thanks again

Gunman it is great to have someone of your passion teaching us some of your expertise. I am a retired engineer (early retirement) at 50. Living here in Southern California USA, I am surrounded by older luxury cars. That only need a good paint job. Since watching your videos. I have bought a Tekna Devilbiss Pro Lite, Iwata Gunsa, and the Iwata W-400. Simply awesome detail videos.

Great review. Bought the A.N.I R150 on your recommendation and going strong so far. Like you, I love DeVilbiss and couldn't go wrong with the SRi Pro Lite but I think the Iwata LPH80 is just a great little gun to have in the family, unique and would be handy as hell getting into those hard to reach places. So that would be my choice given what I would use it for most. SRi a very close second.

G-man, I received my ANI R150 from Sprayguns Direct today and I must say I'm very impressed with the quality of the gun and Sprayguns Direct. I received it in only a matter of days to the USA. The only comment I want to make is that the camera makes the spray gun look much bigger than it really is. This baby is tiny compared to my Tekna Pro lite. I hoping to take it out for a test drive soon. Thanks for the recommendation!

Great review , thanks! In my area for the DIY guys like me it is impossible to find one with a 1.2 tip. We only get 1.0 at the largest, which at times is just too small. For small jobs like you mentioned the small gun with a 2.2 tip would be the bomb !

Totally agree with you on the LPH80. I've had mine for many years and it's perfect for the really fine stuff, but I always wish it was just that bit more comfortable at larger areas. If Iwata brought a gun out to fit between this and the supernova I'd be all over it like a rash 😂

I am 76 and new to spray guns. I bought a old pickup that had one door different color than the other three. I went to body shops but their prices were away out of my budget so I am in a position of making the repair myself. I do not know how the mix the paint, clean the spray gun, and really have the skills using canned paint without having the paint to run. I have a large air compressor so I wanted control the volume of paint going though the nozzle. So, now I am on the computer to gather as much information as possible. I have watched as many of your reviews on RUclips as possible. Great information. Now I am off to buy a spray gun.

I agree with your assessment of these guns. Price is a huge consideration when they are in competition against each other. The ANI R-150 wins this round hands down, performing all the needed tasks and being versatile for the needs of everyday use! A good quality gun for a decent price.

    Wow, great info!
    Could use some guidance...
Getting ready to buy two guns for painting carbon fiber mountain bikes (i.e. fatter / flatter tubes than metal bikes). Want great results without killing the budget.
Should I get two R160 Q, and dedicate one for bases (some light metallic and pearl), and another R160 Q for clear?
If so, which spray tip size for each? Won't likely be spraying primer, just going with 2K epoxy rattle can there.
Or would there be a better gun combo? Was considering a R160 Q, and possibly a Finex (FX1000?), both at similar prices.
If going this route, which would be the base gun, and which for clear?

Hi The Gunman! I really enjoy all your videos and mostly the ones where you explain step by step on how to sand, primer and paint!
    I have two questions;
    1) How come on my front bumper, the paint is pealing off? I did put 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear.
    2) On my lower panel/side skirt, I saw a bit of rust pop up again, I did sand it to the metal and prime and paint and cure for 2 days. Any suggestions???
Many thanks and keep them coming! Cheers!

It is as durable as anything Ive ever seen and when its cooked, it has almost ZERO mil thickness with is important on a Hand gun slide or tight fit moving part. Awesome video, thanks! I plan on doing metal art where I am painting aluminum panels with the new Createx water based Candy 2.0 colors. The panels I do will be 4' x 3' & as big as 4' x 6' so do you think the ANI R150 will be good for me? My budget is $200 U.S. On the bottle for the candy colors it says Spray Gun 1.2 - 1.3mm or Mini Gun 0.8 - 1.0mm 25 - 35 psi. I have a 20 gl compressor rated 5.2 SCFM @ 40 psi so just wondering which gun you would recommend. Thanks mate!!

All things considered I’m leaning towards the SRI because I could use a mini gun for DRP stuff that isn’t de-trimmed. I’ve been spraying Devilbiss for a long time and I like other stuff but I always just slightly prefer the way they spray. Plus it would match the Tekna clear gun I already have lol. Cool looking stuff inspires me 😀

I was looking at sprayguns direct, do they sell original stuff? Reason I ask is they sell Sata products on their site (I was looking at the 4400 mini), and I thought I read somewhere that Sata does not allow their original guns to be sold online, which made me wonder how they (spraygun direct) can do it.

Hi Gunny, great review, I prefer mini guns for my miniature landrover builds as they are great for getting into tight places and as you said work well with smaller compressors. Ive been using that cheap fast mover one that your not keen on and believe it or not I can get some decent results with 2K DG. It defo going to get shelved now and that ANI ordered. I'm thinking if I can get good results with the fast mover it can only be better with the ANI.

I have the SRI Pro lite, and love every minute of it. Yeah I paid a bit much for it. But that gun is for life! There's an OLD SRI kicking around the shop that still works, but the newer ones blow the old ones away.

Bought the ANI 150 from Spray Guns Direct after an earlier review. Old panelbeater that still shoots a bit at home. Love it. 2 days delivery time from England. Highly recommend them

Hello, if you had to choose between the matte black r160-T and the chrome r160-Q, what would be your choice for clear coat? and 1.0 or 1.2? thank you so much

hi..was thinking to buy the 2017 (iwata) air gunza speed flash orange limited edition. It has a AZE HT3 2 air cap..just wondering if they are any better than the flg5's and is the 1.3 or 1.4 tip better..apparently only about 350 made world wide and quite cheapish for a iwata, cant find any info anywhere in the iwata gun..cheers....

I know its an older review, but had to go back to it to review your opinion on these. Its not everyday you see someone has an opportunity to review so many mini guns in action, not just unpacking them. :-) So just want to thank you as it was very useful.
