YES!!!!! Knew it was destined as the winner since getting the mention of my comment in the review following ur most recent flg5 one. Now have 4 flg5s, and the original.. Still sprays mint. Your vids + the suggestion to buy an one about 4 years ago, changed my life. A $130 investment made me thousands upon thousands. Thank you.
Awesome review. You moved through the guns quickly, holding my interest without taking lots of time. Great criteria and objective analysis and discussion!
I have two Iwata guns. One is a 400 and the other is a 94 gun which they discontinued and no longer make repair kits. So now I am in the market of a good, not expensive primer gun. Your video help out a LOT!. I have plenty of choices. Thanks again your were a big help.
Thank you for another great review video. I have purchased every gun I have from watching your videos. I appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos. Have a great day!
Excellent review Gunny ! ordered an FLG5 in a 1.8 for primer last week... Spray guns direct are out of stock at the moment.. Got the GPI in a 1.8 instead.. Well happy ! keep up the good work !
I enjoy all the videos I’ve seen. There informational and not a bore to watch. I’ve retained so good stuff from the gunman. I personally like the Sata, I look for that flawless finish and the Sata is the gold standard.
Hey Gunman, just wanted to let you know that I stumbled upon you a few weeks ago, and I absolutely love your videos man, they inspire me and they help me they give me confidence in myself. Now I’m not a Professional painter I’m actually a Novice but I did do a bit of Autobody in Highschool and loved it and I dabbled in it over the years but here recently I have really gotten into it, my main thing before was not having a place to spray, but about a year ago my Dad passed away and left me his garage, and some of his old cars. I ended up buying a Honda that was wrecked and had a white front end on a black car and it bothered me so much I went out and bought some paint and a cheap gun and I painted it. It turned out really good for my first actual paint job and to spray with a cheap Harbor Freight Gun. But now I’m on my 3rd vehicle I’m spraying and I just can’t find a Decent gun in my price range. My cousin liked what I did with my car so much he had me paint his Daughters car. While the paint jobs are ok I want a good gun to spray with that the paint comes out nice and smooth, but I just can’t afford a good one. I’m getting ready to spray a 2001 Chevy and I’ve been watching all of your videos hoping to find a decently priced gun that’s good. I’m working my way up to paint my Dads NOVA he left me but I really want it to be perfect so I’m waiting til I get the perfect gun for that car. But as I said I’m painting a 2001 Chevy and the Cheap guns I can afford just aren’t going to cut it on this truck as I’ve spent so much time and effort on the body work I want to do the paint job right. Can you please refer me to a gun that’s good and doesn’t cost very much. I love doing paint and body work but I just haven’t got the capital to buy a high dollar gun, and I hope to take in work when I do get a good gun. Once again thank you so much for your videos brother they have helped me out soooooo soooo much. I hope to see more soon. Your are BEAST at what you do man. Mike
Keep up the great work. The information you give us is top notch. I've been waiting for this review as I'm in the market for a new primer gun. The one I have works but not really happy with it. It was cheap so I guess I can expect that. My color and clear guns are both pro lites bought on your reviews (tekna here in the US) and I couldnt be happier with them. Picked up an SRI mini gun and love it as well.
I've watched this video a few times over 2 years, I think Gunman's review's are beautiful work, he should review other stuff in the refinishing industry.
awesome video / info gunny,i'm sure we'd all like to say a big thank you for taking the time to help all fellow sprayers amateur or professional : great info once again many thanks neil
Yesterday I was on spray guns direct to buy a primer gun I chose the f160 silver due to your previous reviews and went with the 1.9 tip as I’m planning on using it for primer only! I wished I had seen this first but honestly like your original review for the 160 and for the price I think it was a good choice, love the videos and reviews keep up the good work gunny
Great feedback Gunman! I’m looking to get myself a mid range gun, I was leaning towards towards the Airgunsa but might rethink after you mentioned the fan width. Cheers!
I always learn something when I watch your videos. You can paint like no other! Fast and beautiful results. Great instructor also. Keep the videos coming. I will check out spray guns direct. Thanks
Gunny I have been watching and learning from you for yers no mate I really appreciate all your hard work I would be proud to own one of those primer guns.
Hello there Gunmen , Thank you for this video. I'm learning how to paint and primer my truck. I did the hood but it looks like it has strips up and down. I noticed that your gun has a great fan and you don't leave primer strips on the hood or pretty much anywhere on the Vehicles. I may have been using the wrong cup. I learned the a larger tip worked better. Thank you again. I'm not sure how to win the guns the guns but I'm still happy about the videos. Thanks!
What a great review on all the spray guns showing how they spray primer. Your videos are the best I watch you painting. I am inspired and want to paint I have a 85 Chevy truck that I am working on I'm 67 years old. Need a good primer gun Satajet100. Airgunsa a23 iwata. Iwata bell aria w400 Devilbis gpi. Flg5 number one by a mile. Not sure what they were thinking a couple years ago when I bought mine for 85 quid! It's still my go to gun. Thanks for the info.
Hey gunman have you got to try out the 3m Accuspray spray gun. Very popular here in the states have disposable plastic heads and can spray rock guard, primer, sealer, base and clear with the different plastic heads of corse
Love what you've done with this review Mr.Gunman. always a pleasure watching your vids. Helps me out at work actually. I work at a production shop here in the states. I own a Sata Jet B HVLP. Would like to know why you don't like the HVLP guns? Or is it just the sata jet you don't like being HVLP.
Hi gunman. I really enjoy watching your videos and learn a lot from them. I am a diy guy looking to learn the automotive painting trade to be able to fix my own cars. Looking to buy myself spray guns. I would like to know what your opinion is on having a specific primer gun for diy guy. Do I need it? Or is it ok to run primer through your paint gun. My current options are these and I can't decide what to buy. Iwata az3 w/ 1.8 tip - 105usd + Flg5 w/ 1.4 tip - 125usd = total 230 usd Flg5 w/ 1.4 and 1.8 tip - 155usd GPI w/ 1.4 and 1.8 tip - 245usd For diy that will use 2 times a month what would you recommend? Do I need a specific gun for primer or should I just get one gun with two tips and use it for everything? Is it bad to be running primer through your paint and clear gun? Thank you.
I have the ANI R-150 detail gun and I concur with Gunny's remark about the ANI cups-- they're the weak spot, hard to close the lids sometimes. The gun itself is very good however.
Hey Gunman, nice video 😉just a quick note as far as the satajet100 goes... You can get a very similar gun from sata that you can get with smaller tips for basecoat, clearcoats etc. Its the satajet 1000... Very affordable as well, and you get the awesome sata quality 😉
Hey gunman love your stuff just have a question when your spraying the cap ontop of the pot you always have off are you supposed to have the cap off are you worried about paint ever coming out cheers
Having a hard time locating a compressor that is recommended for majority if your top 8 guns workout breaking the bank. The cfm on these guns are 9 and higjer. Any recommendations. Btw love your reviews 👍
Which Devilbiss gun is the best for spraying polyesters? Also, Devilbiss has the FLG-4 #803560 that has a 1.8 and 2.2 tip but DOESN'T have a air adjusting valve with gauge. Which would be the best gauge for that gun? Thanks for all your great videos!
Hi, I’m im wondering if the FLG 5 is still considered the best primer gun. I see there is a FLG 670 and wasn’t sure if that was an updated version. I was also looking Into the DeVilbiss TEKNA Primer Spray Gun 1.8 and 2.0 mm Nozzle Size 704175 gun. Do you suggest either of these three or maybe a new favorite? Thanks for the read and videos.
More than a year later 23/4/2020. Today just paid 269.95 on Ebay as per your recomendations It comes with a 1.4mm tip. Should i buy a 1.8 for primer or get another cheaper gun its only home use. And i willl be teaching myself with your videos.
So how do you get your hands on a spare 1.8 setup here in the states? I can get the gun DeVilbiss FLG5-15-8 on eBay and is a great price if it can do everything well.
Exactly what I was looking for. So I’m going to give painting a car from the frame up a shot. Have a couple buddies to help (I’m sure it will turn out bad haha) and who, I was looking for a gun that I could do primer, base, and clear with. Looks like I’m going to go with the Iwata w-400. Looks to be $250 on Amazon right now. Probably only use this thing about 2-3 times a year. If you have a better suggestion, I would love any help/info. Thanks for your videos. They are very informal.
I got my two 100 bf rp's for $250 aus each. My 2mil smashes putty on and my 1.4 smashes wow, base, clear, and solids on no worries. Killer guns if you can get them for cheap.
I missed my chance at this drawing I've been subscribed to your channel for about a year, I'm currently trying to save up some money to purchase the flg5 i got the ani 150 from spraygun direct when I saw your review, I'm new to painting trying to get my shed setup to start spraying it has been kinda expensive purchasing air compressor and filters. I just got my air lines and now working on saving money to get a decent set of guns as i said i got the ani 150 and a purple gun from harbor freight but dont think i can spray clear with either gun, if you have any extra guns u think i could use to spray base and clear with feel free to keep me in mind, thx for your videos I'm learning alot from you and take your recommendations on what to purchase seriously. Thx again..
Hi gunman! Do you know anything about carc paint (chemical agent resistant coating) we use it on military vehicles it’s really thick paint thicker then your standard primer I would say that has sand in it am curious what paint gun to get and what nozzle tip to get with it, would a 1.8 be enough our should go higher?
would you recommend the PRI pro lite for a do everything gun. I am looking to eventually have a dedicated clear and a basecoat gun eventually but thinking a primer gun is a good place to start and would need it to possibly do a bit of direct gloss, base and clear in the meantime till I get the others. Also considering the Sata jet 100 BF Rp.
Hey man, I just wondered if you follow that primer colour staging system? Under all the different colours of water base.... Maybe it applies to solvent too? Is there a vid about it if you do?
Hi Gunman, I would like to get a new spray gun that I plan to use for basecoat only. I think I have narrowed it down to the Iwata lph400 with the lvx aircap or a prolite. Which would you recommend and which aircap would you recommend for basecoat on the prolite?
I’m trying to buy a Square body chevy and paint it Chevelle blue/midnight blue mix MAYBE with some flake but what I’m getting from this DeVilbiss GPi would be the best gun for me. Am a wrong? I don’t know much about professional painting tools but i can paint like a king with a rattle can so lmk if you have any tips oh and i need a new shop compressor any suggestions
Hi Gunman, really good info, I bought a gti pro lite spray gun because of your videos getting close to finishing bodywork and ready to primer a 58 corvette could really use a primer gun thanks for all your help thanks Lance from ohio usa
Hey mate, thanks for more great info. The devilbiss flg5 looks to be the one I'll look into(of course). I have a question though. I'm looking and have the chance to get the tek a prolite vigilante that comes with 3 needles and the te10 and te10 aircaps. My question is where can I get the t110 aircap? By itself, i can't seem to find it listed as a stand alone unless I'm a dunce. Fyi I'm out here in the USA. Thanks

I don't see any FLG5 guns for sale in the US, might they be under a different model number?
I enjoy all the videos I’ve seen. There informational and not a bore to watch. I’ve retained so good stuff from the gunman. I personally like the Sata, I look for that flawless finish and the Sata is the gold standard.

5:05 I believe that would be the SATAjet 1000 B RP. Seems to me to be the same gun but in smaller muzzle sizes.
about time, this is going to help many thanks Gunny
I’m big fan of the flg5 I appreciate your time and videos. They are truly a blessing and more helpful than you get credit for. So thank you
What a great review on all the spray guns showing how they spray primer. Your videos are the best I watch you painting. Nice vid Gunman, so many nice guns!
Flg5 number one by a mile. Not sure what they were thinking a couple years ago when I bought mine for 85 quid! It's still my go to gun. Thanks for the info.
What are those spray gun holders????
Every time i see the GPI im tempted to buy one as a backup gun. They seem to be a good allrounder
Do it... I have two... a 1.4 and a 1.8 excellent kit
Tx for going over all the guns great job
Hey gunman have you got to try out the 3m Accuspray spray gun. Very popular here in the states have disposable plastic heads and can spray rock guard, primer, sealer, base and clear with the different plastic heads of corse
VENOMVETTE I actually have a brand new kit sitting there at work, I'll have to break it out and see what I think of it.
I personally wouldn't trust it, to be honest. Seems a bit overpriced for what it is.
Great review Gunny as usual no messing.
Interesting vid Gunman was excited to see this one top job mate
hey gunman i bought an flg5 with your recommendation and its perfect for woodworking
Awesome as usual Gunny👍.
I enjoy this channel, but I wish you covered pressure fed setups. I wish I could do a job with a little gravity fed gun.
Thanks Gunny!
I’m using My DeVilbiss guns soon as My late bay restoration is getting to it’s ending.
Good review with good points taken into consideration 10/10
Love what you've done with this review Mr.Gunman. always a pleasure watching your vids. Helps me out at work actually. I work at a production shop here in the states. I own a Sata Jet B HVLP. Would like to know why you don't like the HVLP guns? Or is it just the sata jet you don't like being HVLP.
No just watched your video on HVLP guns. Thanks for all the time you put into your videos, very appreciated. Keep it up man.
Video in time...the best market research
Really need a primer gun. Mines bust. Watched all your vids, keep up the great work.
Iwata az3 w/ 1.8 tip - 105usd + Flg5 w/ 1.4 tip - 125usd = total 230 usd
Flg5 w/ 1.4 and 1.8 tip - 155usd
GPI w/ 1.4 and 1.8 tip - 245usd
For diy that will use 2 times a month what would you recommend? Do I need a specific gun for primer or should I just get one gun with two tips and use it for everything? Is it bad to be running primer through your paint and clear gun? Thank you.
I have the ANI R-150 detail gun and I concur with Gunny's remark about the ANI cups-- they're the weak spot, hard to close the lids sometimes. The gun itself is very good however.
Great info Gunman this will help me restoring my car. Cheers
So is the main difference between a primer gun and others the bigger tip size and reasonable sized fan?
Hello, which gun is better in your opinion for base coat and clear coat..Devilbiss FLG 5 1.4 or Devilbiss GPI 1.4 ??
That intro music though hahaha, very regal.
Hey Gunman, nice video 😉just a quick note as far as the satajet100 goes... You can get a very similar gun from sata that you can get with smaller tips for basecoat, clearcoats etc. Its the satajet 1000... Very affordable as well, and you get the awesome sata quality 😉
A bit confusion as to which system should we adopt to paint big machines, trucks with 2k Epoxy Primer and again 2k Polyurethane paint on regular basis
What do you think is a good gun for shooting.015 metal flake I have a Roth 3mm but I was thinking a 2 mm tip would be better what’s your opinion?
Hey gunman love your stuff just have a question when your spraying the cap ontop of the pot you always have off are you supposed to have the cap off are you worried about paint ever coming out cheers
Thank you for your info, awesome job
Bought the Iwata Az3 Airgunsa after watching one of your videos. Small time DIYer. Good primer gun for the price range
Thanks The Gunman,it seems that de vilbiss is the king!

Yep, still stand by the decision, the FLG5 is a beast, brilliant all-rounder.
More than a year later 23/4/2020. Today just paid 269.95 on Ebay as per your recomendations It comes with a 1.4mm tip. Should i buy a 1.8 for primer or get another cheaper gun its only home use. And i willl be teaching myself with your videos.

I got my two 100 bf rp's for $250 aus each. My 2mil smashes putty on and my 1.4 smashes wow, base, clear, and solids on no worries. Killer guns if you can get them for cheap.
Do you have a video on prepping to paint race stripes?
Which regulator are you using and do you use the same one on all your guns?
So Gunny the question is which one out of all 8 would you recommend for a tradesmen wanting a gun for high build And SEALER thanks brother
how does flg5 compare to the flg4 I have a flg4 it seems to require a lot more air to perform well
I missed my chance at this drawing I've been subscribed to your channel for about a year, I'm currently trying to save up some money to purchase the flg5 i got the ani 150 from spraygun direct when I saw your review, I'm new to painting trying to get my shed setup to start spraying it has been kinda expensive purchasing air compressor and filters. Thx again..
I’ll still take the PRIPRO, it’s a little over 300 on Amazon, comes with an aluminum pot, and you can spray anything through the 1.4.
U didn't mention the price of iwata bellaria w400 ?
love your reviews top notch
Hi gunman! Do you know anything about carc paint (chemical agent resistant coating) we use it on military vehicles it’s really thick paint thicker then your standard primer I would say that has sand in it am curious what paint gun to get and what nozzle tip to get with it, would a 1.8 be enough our should go higher?
Sounds similar to LineX or Raptor coatings. Probably sprayed through a shutz gun.
what is the nozzle size?
Thanks I really need one
would you recommend the PRI pro lite for a do everything gun. I am looking to eventually have a dedicated clear and a basecoat gun eventually but thinking a primer gun is a good place to start and would need it to possibly do a bit of direct gloss, base and clear in the meantime till I get the others. Also considering the Sata jet 100 BF Rp.
Hey man,
I just wondered if you follow that primer colour staging system? Under all the different colours of water base....
Maybe it applies to solvent too?
Is there a vid about it if you do?
you drove a stake right thru me when you said the airgunza was no good for base or clear
A Top é a nossa “SGK600pr”... como é chamada aqui no Brasil. É a mesma a primeira colocada.
What about in the USA?

Hi Gunman, I would like to get a new spray gun that I plan to use for basecoat only. I think I have narrowed it down to the Iwata lph400 with the lvx aircap or a prolite. Which would you recommend and which aircap would you recommend for basecoat on the prolite?
Liked and commented!! Your videos are really helpful!!

Whats your thoughts on 3M Accurspray gun and atomizing heads
Hey mate, thanks for more great info. The devilbiss flg5 looks to be the one I'll look into(of course). I have a question though. I'm looking and have the chance to get the tek a prolite vigilante that comes with 3 needles and the te10 and te10 aircaps. My question is where can I get the t110 aircap? By itself, i can't seem to find it listed as a stand alone unless I'm a dunce. Fyi I'm out here in the USA. Thanks
Thought i was watching Ron Pratt with the intro music lol.
