I bought the 1.2 R160q last year and love it. I painted tons of stuff in my garage with my 4.5cfm 26 gallon compressor with no issues. Thanks for your videos !
Whoa! That sounds awesome! Are you doing panels or full on resprays? I have a small compressor and looking for something awesome that can do full resprays.
@@dostuffchannel mostly panels
I lost my gunman feeds for a while and didn’t realize the bell 🛎️ was no longer in effect ….. phew , glad to see you still making vids 👍🏻
2 years ago I bought the ANI 150 on your recommendation. Its awesome for Guitars and Bicycles. Fun gun to use.
Man I bought the ANI 160 FEW YEARS BACK BECAUSEBOF YOU, "AND I LOVE THAT GUN....SO MUCH...!
I just bought one in 1.3…having it shipped to the states. Have had my eye on an Iwata LPH orange cap for years…but can’t get past the price.
I spray mostly single stage…but have a few jobs coming up with metallic 2 stage. I can’t wait to try this one out. Thanks for this video and the recommendation!!
How is it!?
that 1.4 would be good for single stage paint. ive had the starting line guns i hated them then you put me on the FLG 5 what a difference still works after years of service as a diy gun
I had several ANI guns in the 90s, from Astro labeled HVLPs, to the first HPS flagship. I loved them!!
My guy Billy knows 🙏🙏
This gun is 100% legit, just got last week on your recommendation for garage side work and performed perfectly on a BMW 760i front fender half bumper blend. First coat was at 40psi, a little chunky, but 2nd coat at 60 was great. Out of the box thought the trigger was very stiff but while spraying it wasn't noticeable. Will probably be my go-to gun for 1-2 panels and bumper blends rather than the DV1's.
TC in Annapolis MD
30+ yrs collision and refinish experience
What was the size of compressor you used if i may ask?
I love my little ANI 150 from SGD!
Tried on metallics today,,had stripes problems,,a learning curve with this gun
Lower pressure and hold the gun further back on the last 2 coats
Hell yea what a little beast of a gun. Ha the black ANI you gave me still going definitely better quality than anything you'll bye at auto stores. 🤙
great review! Emailed Chris and he got me setup to order it :D they are available on the website already Thanks Gunman 🤙cant wait to try it and compare it with my FLG5
Perfect timing .
Will a 100 liter 3 hp. 390lpm compressor be big enough to run it on smaller jobs like painting a bumper or a door?
Would you recommend this gun to spray water base paint for furniture like kitchens and wardrobes 🤔
Ok, thanks alot!
I'm buying this!
Looks like a good finish to me. As for the plastic seals they last for ages and their only pennies for replacements.
Yes you do
Do what lol
Just ordered mine. Only $118 U.S. Dollars. Maybe you could follow up with a video spraying (Better) clear. Looks like this ANI compact was having issues atomizing PPG? Thanks Gunny..
Ppg базата не струва,лака им е по добре
G'day Mr Gunman,
This looks like a nice gun especially for home.
Q. A few years back when the gti pro came out I purchased one and I also purchased the gti pro mini. How would you compare the mini to this gun.
I'm lovin all your channels man ✌️ Peace.
Great video, I learn so much from watching your videos. You say you're not a huge fan of PPG clear. What would be your number one pick for best clear that gives the flatest finish??
Either Standox Xtreme clear or performance pro
@TheGunmanChannel Awesome thank you so much. Keep on doing what you do.
I'm still loving my r160q, although I had a blocked air cap that you can't strip to clean.
I bought the ANI F160S 1.4
recommendations on settings for painting Harley parts with SPI Single Stage Paint? I've tried several times had to sand off and re shoot. Thanks
Hi Gunman, i have r160q can i put the 1.3 air cup from the compact
on it?
You mention quality of Finishline not being great. But the FLG5 is in that line.. Still cant decide between it or F160. Both would be 1.3. Which would you go after now a days?
Will these tips fit in a ani r160q
Hey mate what size tip would you recommend for doing old school mowers etc?
Hey what's up man looks good.i want one of that..
Hello, which one do you recommend for varnish ani f160 clear or ani compact? Thank you!
Clear
Hi Gunny, that looks a nice gun and as you say the ANI is well made for the price point so what's not to like. I'll let you off for the slight peel in the clear mate we all know you can do better in fact I've seen you do much better with the PPG clear so maybe you had an off day or the gun isn't quite dialled in🤔😆😉
I saw that there was a picture in the box or on the manual of the gun with a digital gauge on it, just wondering if the gauge from your Skull edition would fit the Compact🤔🙏👍John UK
in comparision to a Devilbiss GTi pro, would the Devilbiss still perform better than ANi Compact on a smaller 2HP compressor?
=
What psi are you shooting the clear. Cheers from Texas
@@markgonzalez8033 I always crank the pressure to full using this gun, the more the better. 40+ psi
Can you confirm if these air caps and needles fit the R160q, as I don't want to buy three separate guns if I can get away with running say the 1.4 on my older r160q.
Love your work, has taught me SO much.
I honestly don't know mate, email Chris at info@spraygunsdirect.co.uk let him know I sent you and he should look after you
Hi gunny you say set the wall pressure at 60 psi so what pressure do you recommend using at the gun ? Cheers 👍
Around 30-40 psi
Would you recommend a 1.2 or 1.3 in this gun for motorcycle panels will be using it for base and clear
1,2 е достатъчен
Hi gunnie love that ANI gun would a 2.5 compressor be adequate i find that the bigger guns my compressor cannot keep up
I would imagine so mate
What’s the cfm on this gun ?
Hi what size of the pps adapter. Thanks
@@volodymyrg9300 s12
@TheGunmanChannel Thank you so much Man. 👍
Hi Gunny, SPDirect have a 1.0 & 1.2 nozzle available now, l'm restoring old tractor parts and wheels in a home shed. Not a painter by trade. Prob won't be using super-expensive paint either.
Would you recommend the 1.3 for those uses or drop to the smaller nozzles?
Thanks :)
If it's mainly smaller parts then yeah 1.2 will suffice mate. And the smaller tip would be ideal for wheels where you don't want to overload it
@@TheGunmanChannel Sprayguns direct recently launched a kit with 1.3mm and 1.0mm. Plus cup & reg.
Bargain, ordered 👍
Thanks for recommending it Gunny 😊🇦🇺
Gunman, which one would you recommend for beginner FLG 5 or Ani F160 PLUS-S HPS? I would like to go wirh 1.3 for base and clear and 1.8 for primer. The thing is that this ANI doesnot have 1.8 either 1.7 or 1.9 and for what I saw most primers recommend 1.8. So i was thinking maybe ANI for 1.3 and FLG5 with 1.8. Or should I go both ANI and choose 1.3 and 1.7 or both FLG 1.3 and 1.8.?
1.9 is fine for primers, even better than 1.8 actually for Primer Filler. It's super thick so even 2.2 works. For primer just get the 1.9 Ani F160 Silver HPS. For Base get FLG 4. I adore FLG 4, but I would not use FLG 4 or 5 for any clear. For Clear buy this: Anest Iwata Kiwami 4 1.3
And you are done for life. You can become a champion with those 3. I paid $140 for my Iwata from Japan. People that painted for 30 years told me the $140 sprays clear the same if not better than any gun.
Thanks for your swift and in depth review and recommendation!
@@marinercegovic8049 I would recommend the ANi for both. The 1.9 is a beast for primer, and you can always slow it down by winding in the fluid control a bit.
Thanks Gunman!
Hello, I purchased the Devilbiss spray paint gun model GPG 7E7, #905022. It came with the HE-7E7 Cap and 1.2/ 1.3 tips. Should I use this gun for base or clear. Thank you for the information you provided in your videos, and thank you in advance for any help with my paint ventures.
That's an American gun if I'm not mistaken, so I can't say from experience but I have known a few people who said it's good for base and clear. So I would just give it a shot and see how you go
can you respray an entire car with this gun or best suited for smaller jobs
@@josequiroz4605 you can, although it wouldn't be my first choice. But if I was at home with a smaller compressor it would be my first choice.
@TheGunmanChannel i have a 60g compressor
@@josequiroz4605 CFM or fad is more Important than tank capacity, because once the tank has depleted you need to be able to keep up with the tool you're trying to use. Cross reference the CFM on your compressor with the spray gun you want to use and add a bit just in case.
i see wat tou mean @@TheGunmanChannel
G’day Gunman, can the chicago 100 ltr air compressor which is what you have at home keep up with the gti pro lite te20? Thanks
I haven't tried to be honest, but it could probably do smaller jobs, whether or not it could actually keep up on a big job I don't know.
Yeaah okay, because i am planing to buy the ANI compact for primer and gti pro lite te20 for clear but yeah thanks for responding though. Have a good one mate, i love your videos by the way.
What was the size of the pps adapter you used ?
It’s the S12.
I got the little beast ,,, where do I set the starting pressure??For clear & base
Basecoat set full then lower if you see it's going on too thin, and clear full pressure. This gun loves heaps of air, but will operate with a small amount also
What do you call full pressure?
@@joblo2299 open the knob right up
Thanks for the video will definitely look into getting one of these guns. I have a few projects at the moment which are getting close to a point of needing paint. I will be doing at home in my garage. This looks like a great goal for the job
I used the ANI F 160..ALL SAME
Would you take this over a Iwata Kiwami 4 or a LPH80?
At home definitely this
@@TheGunmanChannelwhy at home...?
@@joblo2299 compressor size. You could struggle with the Kiwami depending on how big your compressor is
@@TheGunmanChannel you Are correct
Just got my ani compact gun is a fucking machine great for the value and the fan is huge 1.3 for the win super happy with it
Ordered this to try…maybe it’ll replace my lph300…
@@SeanY.-po3ny probably better than that gun
@TheGunman, my compressor has only 200L/min FDA (I bought it from Bunnings), so should I get the Compact or R160? I want to use it for base and clear coat not primers. Ta mate.
I tried looking for exact specs, but I can confirm my compressor runs it no dramas at all, but mine is 289fad. But I would be very surprised if it didn't work fine.
@@TheGunmanChannel OK, since I prefer 1.3, I betta get the Compact - right?
@@JoJon-fb6qf I would recommend it.
So disappointed with the Compact and SGD. First gun I received was faulty, air kept pissing out the tip. Chris and Wendy were great to deal with initially, they sent out a replacement straight away and even allowed me to upgrade to the kit with the extra cups/tips/cheater valve but the second gun I recieved doesn't spray well. No matter what I try I'm left with the worst orange peel, same conditions and paint using my ebay special gun and the finish is flawless.
I've brought it up with SGD but they've totally ghosted me, wont reply at all.
Mate i love your channel and respect your reviews but this is the first and last time I buy from Spray Guns Direct.
That's a real pity mate, I used mine just this morning and it provides me a killer flat finish, all I can say is max the pressure as high as you can, tight first coat, wait a few mins then let her rip.
But yeah I'm really sorry to hear your experience on this one.
HI GUNNY I HAVE THE ANI 160Q FROM CHRIS AT SPRAY GUN DIRECT BUT HAVEN'T USED IT YET 😊
One hell ofa gun bro.
@@richardunderwood5265 you got the same gun 🔫 Richard Ani 160Q 1.3
Lph80 spray flatter with less cfm..
Try painting a bonnet with it
Muito top..
Do you believe you can paint a complete vehicle with this gun ?
I could definitely yes
@@TheGunmanChannel
Thanks I believe I'll get on what adapter for the old PPS ?
Would the f160 be better at a whole vehicle and small jobs here and there or is the compact versatile enough to do the small jobs and then a whole vehicle. I like the small volume usage and fan size
800 wet equals 400 dry? So I'm told.
400 with a Da sander = 800p I believe
ANI Compact model is a big disappointment, as far as the build quality is concerned. I bought 1.3 and 1.4 and both have the same problem, the shape of the fan is in the shape of the letter S. For the sake of comparison, I also tried my ANI R160-Q with a nozzle of 1.2 mm, the fan is quite correct, it is a little smaller, but not much, but it is perfect compared to the ANI Compact model. The idea for this Compact model was great, it's a shame that the manufacturer approached the realization without any will to make a well-constructed paint gun.
Contact Chris at info@spraygunsdirect.co.uk I'm almost certain they'll replace it with one they've tested, just mention that you came from my recommendatio, that'll make a certainty of it.
@@TheGunmanChannel Thanks, Gunman. The guys at spraygunsdirect are really great, they replaced my first 1.4 paint gun with a new one, but the problem remained the same with it. I admit, I was a little impatient, so in the meantime I also ordered the one with the 1.3 mm nozzle. When it arrived, you can imagine my disappointment when I tried it on and realized it had the same problem. It's definitely a manufacturing issue. So now I have a few ANI Compacts that I guess I can use for sealers and primers. You have really great videos, one can learn a lot from them. Thank you for all the effort and selfless sharing of your knowledge with all of us. Many greetings from Serbia.
170$ you can buy a decent primer gun and definitely better base/clear coat gun than this rubbish
Any recomendations?
