2 malfunctions in 50 rounds - particularly in a completely clean gun - means that the gun is still broken. It's not fixed until it can go, idk, 500 rounds with no malfunctions. I think Tom kind of screwed you over.
mags are just as important as the gun. no malfunctions with the larger ones so unless you own an mp7 I would not extrapolate on two rounds to much. I could give you the most gucci ar15 and a out of spec or worn mag and it will do the same thing.

so from the looks of it, the bolt might be slightly out of spec and needs to be broken in a little for it to function correctly. At least thats what it seems from the few videos i've seen on it.
Didn't have anything to measure it, but it seemed like the ejector was a smidge thicker, and the ejector spring was stronger and less gritty. When I pushed on the ejector of the old bolt, it felt pretty gritty and didn't travel smoothly. Where as the new bolt did. Had to send the old bolt back, but i think it was a tolerance issue, like most of the issues with these T7s. Hence why some of them work and some don't. Got a new mag release from Tom and the new one seats the mags high, so i can actually lock the gun back. So yeah. i don't think all of the parts for all guns were manufactured the same.
I think I made all of the bolts (550). They are compatible with MP7. The most visible difference is that the big cross hole on the HK bolt is staked to keep the cam pin from falling through, while mine has a bored hole from one side (no need to stake). I didn't see them after carburization and heat treatment. The channels could have needed some cleaning/reaming to remove the baked grits. I only checked them fresh and with a used MP7 ejector. I didn't make the ejectors. And yes, the tolerances are paramount.
@@sergel8790 Oh that's awesome! Yeah the bolts themselves seemed exactly the same, extractor claw and spring seemed the same. it was just the movement of the ejector that was different. The size of the ejector could have been a lighting issue, or my eyes could be wonky. but it really looks like it was a hair's difference. But I also don't 100% know why the new one worked and the other didn't. I'm just happy it does work better
Glad to see that it looks like yours is running good finally. I've had the same issues with my T7 and been in contact with Tom about it. Hopefully I can get a new bolt sent my way to cure my problems too. I will say that I had problems with the carrier not going fully into battery as well and it turned out that my extractor pin was not long enough and was coming out and getting jammed between the carrier and the trunnion/chamber causing the out of battery failures. Tom sent a couple new pins my way and it solved that, but like you said it could have just been the pressure on the carrier from other rounds in the mag. Just something to look at when your go to disassemble and clean it next time. Also love your thoughts on donating what you can, like hair!
Thanks man! I'm glad too! And I hope that you're able to get yours running. And that's an interesting issue that you had. This was my first out of battery issue, and my first 100 rounds, I didn't have any out of battery failures. I just finished disassembling and cleaning it and didn't see anything concerning, so fingers crossed my issues are over! I hope you get yours back up and running soon! It was a big sigh of relief and a wave of happiness to be able to run the gun without issues every 2-3 rounds. And thanks! I thought it was a corny bit to add in, but people seemed so obsessed about my hair in the last video. I personally like my hair short, because long hair is a pain sometimes. But being able to give to others definitely trumps the annoyance.
I went ahead and took Tommy's offer to send my whole gun back for him to check over and do some hand fitting on the carrier/receiver. Mine started running great after I cleaned out my bolt, which fixed the same issue you ran into. I figured since he offered to check it over, I'd take advantage. Really can't beat the support he gives. People don't appreciate how much more difficult polymer guns are, especially in small batches and with a monolithic receiver like the MP7. P90, the PSA MP57, and most non-pistols are clamshells that bolt together. Allows for easier cleanup of sprue and injection pins, as well as addition of metal inserts. With the MP7, any metal inserts have to be molded in place. Small batch makes this even harder without making the gun even more expensive. Either due to increased man hours to painstakingly clean up the receivers (which will occur in the first 50 or 100 rounds.) or by adding an entirely new set of tooling/machinery specifically designed to clean up polymer molded parts. It's also worth noting that most guns require a 200-500 round break in period before you can accurately judge reliability. As for those commenting on the price. Yes, it's an expensive gun. But the chances of anyone being able to purchase on, completely ignorant of what they were buying (a first run of a fully reverse engineered firearm) are slim to none. Nothing is impossible, but they'd literally have to have learned about the gun and Tommybuilt the night before, and lucked out in buying one of the first batch. If you know Tommybuilt, you know he makes quality guns. He makes stuff no one else will even try. It's not easy to do, and sometimes issues arise. He's shown himself capable and willing to work with his customers to ensure they get the working gun they paid for. Comparing the T7 to a SCAR, custom AR, or other PDW on price or performance is invalid. Those of us who bought one don't want a 9mm PDW, a 5.7 PDW or any PDW that roughly looks similar to an MP7 if you squint. We wanted a clone correct MP7 in semi auto. That's what we got, along with better product support than HK or FN or PSA or BCM, KA or anyone could ever provide. Previous to Tommybuilt, our only option was getting an SOT and buying a $20k post sample, $20k-30k for a parts kit, plus paying Tommybuilt a few grand extra to rebuild your parts kit. When you look at it that way, it's no longer a $4k PDW that has break in related reliability issues. It's a 75% discount on a custom civilian legal MP7. That 75% discount just comes with the caveat of you might have to work with the nicest and most pleasant gunsmiths in the world in order to get it running perfectly.
@@neobaggins3718 WELL SAID!!!! Literally all of this. I couldn’t have said it better. This thing is 75% cheaper. And for that, I’ll take these small malfunctions that’ll sort itself out over time. I like HK a lot and have owned them since 1985 when I bought my first 94A3. I have examples of all the 90 series along with P7s and USPs. They are engineered to exacting specifications and tolerances that few MFGs can or will attempt to hold. The roller lock design of the long guns and SMGs along with the clock-like workings of the P7 series are what separated HK from the rest. With that, the cloned MP7 Gen 1 was a failure. ARE U KIDDING ME???? ITS FIXED???? U had 3 malfunctions in 50rds. I certainly can’t trust your life to it!! EXPENSIVE PAPERWEIGHT yet he’s thanking the manufacturer!?!?
tarkov meta build mp7 bro
Some guy said that I had too much stuff in my previous video.... so obviously i had to add more. Stay tuned for the next one 👀
Damn dude, I hate to say, but at 3 malfunctions in 50 rounds that PDW is still broken... Get off the copium and send it back for further work or money back. 😅
I like how positive you are, but don't accept this as fixed. They didn't really uphold their end when it comes to quality. So I honestly don't feel like they deserve the credit.
3 malfunctions that soon? Sounds like you are coping for spending that much on a POS
Cope
Big optic for a compact gun…
Im sure itll get better and better. Everyone begged the guy to make an mp7 and when he does, he gets shit for it. I dont think it's fair to treat Tom like hes SIG. Hes boutique and cant afford to do the work he does and not put out a product. Whatever problem there is in time i bet will get taken care of and everyone will love their T7's
He didn't make an MP7, he made an unreliable, MP7-shaped paperweight that costs as much as a car.
Hey, I want to see you play with knives.
Tommybuilt makes crap toys that don’t work for way too much money
Lpvo??? Dude doesn’t understand what this thing is lol
Roof Korean
The cope in this video is nearly unwatchable. Your gun is not fixed bro. It’s way too expensive to let 3 malfunctions in 50 rounds slide. That’s what we call an unreliable gun.
It sucks to say it I’m sure when you were really hopeful and excited for it but that’s a piece of crap. You couldn’t even get through 1 mag without a jam. If Tom couldn’t build it then he shouldn’t have built it, that simple. It clearly is not functioning and has no business being on the market.
Please get a refund and call it quits or stay on the manufacturers ass about getting it fixed. You owe it to yourself for the absurd price that gun is.
Beta tested gun. Nah man Ill wait till its 100%. Im not buying that at 3500 until its 100% tom is trippin with that price tag thinking he is HK. He is like a honda with a body kit calling itself a skyline GTFO Tom 😂
Way to share other ways to help, been donating hair for the past 4 years. There's always a way to help others
That is awesome! Yeah it's something that people definitely forget that they can do. And its free to do!
doing some research on tommy i found hes a car shop fabricator. probably figured he could make these reps for a quick buck. i wouldnt buy just my opinion.
Brother 2 malfunctions out of 50 rounds is unacceptable. There are $500 firearms that are more reliable than this $3500 embarrassment. The gun is still broken plain and simple.
I’d ask for my money back or keep sending it back until you can run AT LEAST 200 rounds with no malfunctions cause this thing is a scam unintentional or not that’s what it is currently I paid 3k for my Q honey badger I’ve got about 1400 rounds through it and I’ve had 2 malfunctions the first was because I wasn’t cleaning it I was just giving it more oil to see how well it could trudge through all that built up shit this happened around the 1100 round mark and the second was when I finally got my can for it and it wasn’t even an ordinary malfunction like a double feed or caught round it just didn’t chamber the next round cause I hadn’t turned the gas up on it yet for subs other than that it runs like a 3000 dollar gun should literally flawlessly unless you’re purposefully inducing malfunctions like I was trying to by not cleaning it
Shit tier gun, don't make excuses for it.
What happen to your cool long hair
@@hotdognobun hidden by the earpro 😂
still junk tommy built needs to make airsoft
Well thank you for showing me why I shouldn't buy Tom's overpriced piece of shit xD
