Echidna is a sociopath but she has feelings of her own and has some understanding how other people feel. But Pandora is completely twisted and has no understanding of other people.
Even Echidna sees Pandora as deplorable.
Echidna is a complicated character who may not always have been unfeeling or sociopathic. It's near impossible to tell if she's truly so cold, if it's a result of her Authority, if it's all just an act, a combination of the three, etc. The web novels only make that answer more ambivalent with time as well. We may not get an answer for a long time or at all regarding any of it. But if I were a betting man... even she at one time was human and cared for something/someone. In fact, I think she still does, even now, deep down. Those hot tears she sheds in Emilia's 2nd trial were genuine and hinted at a wounded heart that comprehended hope, dreams, and pain.
So even to someone like her, a woman capable of doing monstrous things to sate her own greed, a self-serving Witch like Pandora must seem a monster.
Emelia character just keeps getting better and better!

Who else cried in today's episode after seeing the scenes brought to life from the light novel?
I feel bad for smol Emilia and seeing her cry and scream made me cry even more after what happened with Fortuna and Geuse
This scene was done so much better than I was expecting. Just hearing Emilia's VA rip her vocal cords out crying those 'die's in despair, truly like a helpless child just wanting the nightmare to stop.

Emilia is unironically strong when she lets her ice powers go. Sure, she can take a knife to the back and die but when she lets her magic rip against an opponent, it's a testament to her restraint, not weakness, that she doesn't freeze an entire continent. Spoilers:
In the IF Wrath route, she actually does the unthinkable and injuries Reinhardt. Possibly even kills him (though we never see the outcome of that).

This proves that Pandora's power has a limit, after all if she were so strong that she could control everything in the way she wants, she wouldn't need Emilia to agree to open the seal, part of it is difficult to discover that limit.
Also if she saw that killing Fortuna resulted in Emilia becoming enraged and uncooperative instead of surrendering
then she would (could) have rewrote fortuna’s death and used it as a bargaining chip. She has limits for sure but I wonder if it has to do with people under her authority or allegiance.
Remember that she is the witch of vanity and she has her respective character traits and ego, we don’t know how much she can do, Regulus has this problem too, he could have killed geuse too, but because of his arrogance personality he just wanted to show petelgeuse how superior he was to him
Is too complicated to make assumptions about her power if we don’t if she was even trying her best, because again she is the witch of vainglory/ vanity that call herself merciful and emphatic, she has her character traits that is what defines most of the times how the powers are used in Re:Zero. But yeah I’m not saying that her reality wrap is unlimited, but the limit is not clear and is impossible to tell because pandora hasn’t been put in a situation when she is not clearly superior yet

She is; she was an Avenging Angel in this instance.
Pandora is scary. She sounds like a mother calmly speaking to a child, all the while committing cruel acts. There is no way to say this, but Pandora is a much more intimidating villain than the other ones we had. She truly is earning the spot of the Big Bad of the story.
The calm way she tries to manipulate and coerce a sweet young child really cements how much of a truly terrifying predator she is. With an empty, easy smile and a soft voice, she destroys lives and crafts unspeakable abominations.

Emilia's constant attacks at Pandora going "die die die", or Kugiyama Rie pulling off Pandora's calm villain voice so well that it sounds entirely different from what I'm used from her ^^
It's so perfectly well done. Emilia crying with every range of despair possible, like a truly frightened and grief-stricken child lashing out with the only thing she has just to make the nightmare stop while Pandora dispassionately refuses to go away and keeps calmly coming back to haunt her.
i almost expected her to go "Kagura aru" or have Regulus call her "leader"
Pandora really expected Emilia to be like: Yeah sure man I'll use this key or whatever, even though my mother died and I've been mentally scarred by this and will never fully recover.
Pandora is an overwhelmingly powerful being who can overwrite reality. Pandora only pretends she has empathy and understands her victims so she can use them. She doesn’t care because majority of her problems can immediately get fixed.
@@mysteryman8787 Indeed, and not only does she not care, she is so genuinely bereft of empathy that she doesn't seem to understand people at all. She legitimately just thinks Emilia will do whatever she wants because now that mom's dead, there's no need to keep the promise. It's so deliciously insane and typical of the inhuman line of thinking of many of the witches.

The scariest part isn't her powers. It's the fact that she doesn't understand why someone would be angry and heartbroken after what she did.
The fact on what Guese has become in the end, it's sad.
Never underestimate the savagery and ferocity a child is capable of when you take everything and everyone they love. To take away a child's innocence is to unleash their strength in all its glory and horror. That is the prime example of the despair Emilia was forced to faced in this scene.

Pandora's power lies in the power of her voice. She has to be able to talk in order for her power to take effect... Even if you notice every time she speaks it some what seems to come to pass, however when she tried with Emilia she couldn't succeed because Emilia just kept killing her and she never was going to get tired. Yet somehow she was able to manifest Emilia's upcoming journey before it even occurred. It's more like she put a curse on Emilia instead because she knew Emilia's power was so over whelming

@Ambridge she already did more than Rem for him especially that scene when he run into Emilia at the forest before he met Otto, Subaru got emotional and she grabbed his head put in her cheast and told him to hear her heart beat, she comforted him and hugged him but they didn't show that in the anime sadly.

Emilia has self h*tred, Emilia h*te that everyone despise her because of something she can't control, she h*te that's she's getting special treatment because of something she can't control, she h*te that everyone around her get hurt and suffer because of something she can't control and that's exactly what she did in the royal selection, she pushed Subaru away so he could stop suffering because of her, she thought about Subaru before HERSELF, even tho Subaru did all that for himself and was being selfish Emilia still thought about him first.
Emilia is a kind selfless person that prioritize others over herself to the point she dropped her insignia hunt risking her future of becoming the next queen for a guy she doesn't know anything about and stayed the whole time till he got his consciousness back and then told him that he doesn't owe her anything because she thinks that being around a half elf and because of the way people look at her is going to bring harm to anyone with her, she's been h*ted and insulted her entire life just because she exist, the fact that she's not a villain is a miracle on it's own.
Emilia saved Subaru in the first episode, healing him in the third one when he was about die, making him get what Rem was doing for him all this time out of his chest (the lap pillow scene, and that's when he fall in love with her, it's pretty clear in the LN) and she convinced Rem that Subaru is a good person, or else she would still be going after this poor guy, healing him another time or he would be dead (and she stayed the whole night healing him), she told Roswaall to go after Subaru and Rem (obviously they would have died without him) she told Felix to heal Subaru's gate and asked Rem to stay with him at the royal selection. Emilia is literally the main reason for all his character development, she the one pushing him to be a better person
And that's a cut conversion between Subaru and Emilia that happened in this time line but the anime didn't show.
“Echidna, Roswaal, Garfiel, they’re all self-centered. Stop getting j*rked around by them. They’re all telling me do something. Even though I’m trying to deal with it my own way, they all complain, saying not this way, not that way-” His emotions rising, it was then that he felt dizziness along with his senseless rage.
“ ” An arm wrapped around the back of his head, pulling him forward before he had time to think. He felt something soft and hot, bringing Subaru’s breath and thoughts both came to a halt.
A warm touch pressed against him, and he realized that the gentle echo from the other side was a heartbeat. That was when he figured it out-Emilia was hugging him against her chest.
“Emi…” “Take it slow. Take it easy. Just take it slow and listen to the sound of my heart.”
Her voice was like a silver bell, tickling his eardrums. Unresisting, Subaru did as he was told.
A pleasant, ticklish feeling on his back made his breaths grow shallow, and a hot sensation emerged from behind the corners of his eyes. His banal depression faded, washed away by a tide of much greater emotion.
For a while, he let Emilia’s heartbeats soothe his stricken heart.
“Have you calmed down?”
Emilia slowly took away her arms, freeing Subaru’s head from her chest.
Facing the concern in the violet eyes before him, Subaru exhaled slightly.
“Sorry to get all flustered like that. I didn’t wanna cause you trouble like some little kid, but…” “I’ve told you, I don’t find this troubling at all. You’re really stubborn, Subaru.”
Giggling, Emilia touched a hand to her lips as she smiled just a tiny bit.
Then Pandora erased her existence from Emilia and thus stopping the eternal freeze from going further.
Actually I think it kept going until she was completely frozen or after her mana ran out,Basically even after freezing completely,But idk it might be these two or your right.
Once the hair was blocking the eyes, I knew she was finna turn up
the tragedy of this scene plus petelgeuse walking off laughing afterwards and the music is truly a masterpiece

I don't think i've ever hated a character more than Pandora, the soft spoken, completely dull and apathetic voice makes me all the angrier. It's almost as if she could never care for anybody but herself even at her best. I do truly hope that either Emilia or Subaru make her suffer for what she did, not only for Fortuna but my boi Geuse as well.
That actually is a perfect way to describe her. She is the Witch of Vainglory, of Vanity. She IS completely incapable of caring about anyone other than herself, and is only able to process the needs of others in so far as how she can use them to serve her ends, by any horrifying means necessary. A dispassionate godlike being who twists, breaks, and corrupts others to fit her whims with zero regard for the lives she destroys along the way-- and the disturbing part is she thinks its beautiful.
