Story conventions do not introduce a character like this, render them "MIA" (not "dead"), and not have them return later. He will return, and he will be a problem. I'd love to see the look on Omega and Roswaal's faces when he does. He will very likely return towards the end of the overall story and throw a wrench into everything.

I think people are ignoring how this episode showed how similar Roswaal and Subaru are. In a way Hector was Roswaals Betelguese. But unlike Subaru Roswaal lacked the power to save his loved ones.

it is because the original word could be "devil" or "warlock" though I agree they should have translated it as warlock because it makes more sense in the context but it's not an error technically.

I really like seeing how the different Authorities manifest themselves as powers. Pandora is Vanity/Vain Glory, so she can influence reality around her to suit her own ego. Hector is Melancholy, giving him the ability to crush things seemingly with his mind.

I know how Greed gets played with through Regulus, but how did it work with Echidna? As far as I know, she never uses her Authority on screen.
Even novel readers don't know what her authority is. Some people say its the Tome of Wisdom (which has all the world's knowledge ever) but that might be something she created through magic or even her authority

After this encounter, Roswaal starts to speak like Hector and stretch out his words so he basically inherits his speech quirk.
Also, here in the flashback, Roswaal only has two blue eyes whereas Roswaal in the future has both a blue eye and orange colour eye. Hector also possess orange colour eyes plus he dresses like a clown. So either Roswaal is imitating him or there is somehow a part of Hector inside of him now.

he believes that, in order to achieve your dreams, you have to be willing to become utterly heartless and a true monster, capable of sacrificing anything to achieve your goal
to that end, he imitates hector, the man he holds animosity towards for losing echnidia, acting like the very image of the 'devil' he most despises in his long-held desires to see his goals achieved, and perhaps also as a method of self-mockery as well

Roswal basically goes into the body of his children and lives again basically taking over their bodies to live forever generation after generation. His eye wasn't different cause he is the first Roswal basically his original body.

There really should be a *Melancholy If* side story. I find this route underrated and most realistic approach in Subaru’s struggles during *Arc 3*
I want to believe thtat Hector was the Subaru _before_ Subaru. I'm also thinking that the more he uses his Melancholy Authority, the more depressed it makes him. Or, he can't turn it off, period.
If there's something that can drive Subaru into true Melancholy, I imagine it would be something that happens in Arc 7 or beyond, since that's the point where Tappei said he'd stop "taking it easy" on Subaru.

Hector's ability allows him to control Gravity. Which in my opinion is super cool and his authority is probably the one I would want the most.

That fight was really one sided...Hector is just too overpowered. He didn’t even move an inch while fighting him.
He isn't as powerful as he seems. Just like IRL gravity, Hector's authority gets weaker and weaker over distance, although we don't know if it behaves completely like real gravity (2 times the distance, 1/4 of the power, aka inverse square law). So the only time when he can use his full power is when distance is 0 or close to 0.
Another limitation is that it doesn't shield him from the environment much. For example, he stopped Al Goa, but not the heat.
Another limitation is that he has to direct the authority with his palms.

Anyone who was wondering, this is how Hector's authority works
potential spoilers up ahead
basically he has like this forcefield around him that gets stronger the more he closed the gap between himself and his opponents. In the Light Novel and Web Novel versions of this fight, Roswaal gets beaten up by Hector from a distance, but as soon as Hector jabs his fingers into Roswaal, Roswaals organs are twisted and ruptured, his bones shattered.
The myth Hector is based off of his Hector of Troy, who was the strongest Troy warrior during the Trojan war. his name means "To Seize/Hold" which inspired his ability
(i said potential spoilers because idk if Hector will make a return in the LN and his ability might be explained there in the future)

This is a new info about the first Roswaal, i.e. the one in this scene. His name is Roswaal Altair Mathers. Keep in mind the name Altair because all characters that are named after stars are super important to the story (the reason is not still understood so even LN/WN readers can’t answer that)
