No one knows apparently the author is keeping it a secret but considering how there's many character in there who look like the other character. It's not gonna be surprising if Emilia really just happens to look like Satella.
In that one loop where she "showed up," the actual novel hints somehow Satella is able to possess Emilia's body. This, along with the secretive nature of her parentage and her being hidden from the world most of her life. Hints there's some kind of connection between them. However, they're clearly separate people they don't have the same magic affinity, and Emilia isn't constantly seeping Miasma (Witch's Scent)
I have a bone to pick with what Minerva was saying earlier about Subaru being something along the lines as "worse" than the witches actually are. Seriously?! Did she just try to gaslight him? The dude is trying to make the best of the situation with what he has available to him and has actually saved lives. The only witch i think is the least insane out of them all is Carmilla, the only reason her witch factor is compatible with her is not because of personality but because people just like her so much lol. Pandora and Hector are witches with Archaic sins and kinda viewed separately from the true witches of sin. Saying that, they are here (except Satella) because Echidna collected their souls when they died and put them there.

No, when they died their "powers" went "available" and the compatible people that inherited them are the archbishops, they are not directly related. That's why no archbishop has the Authority of Envy, since Satella didn't die, she still has it.

Satella is a good person, they cut this information from the anime (and it was supposed to be revealed in this episode) but Satella has a double personality, one is the real Satella (which is the one who wants to help Subaru), the other is the witch of envy that took control of the body and killed half the world 400 years ago.
Imo the arc bishops are different in nature than witches. The arc bishops except petelguese and maybe fortuna are all trash from before they become cultist and they seem more compatible with witch factors than the actual witches.
Actually this is a very good point to consider. In the very first timeline Emilia Went by the name Satella. After that first initial timeline she considered it an absolute insult to be called it.
I don't know why but Satella (apart of that time when she appeared irl) was such a disappointment. Every line she said was just meaningless gibberish. Every time it goes like this: Subaru asks what tf she wants from him or why did she returning him and she'll go like " you must love yourself more"...??? Bitch what are you talking about? She gave zero viable info. I swear, we know more about any other witch in the series by this point but not the main one.
If you want to blame someone, blame the director who cut all the satella scenes, including cutting scenes from this ep (they were supposed to have explained that satella has a dual personality, and in fact, in the novel, according to what satella explained, she and Subaru were a couple in the past), BTW Subaru and she have already met several times in arc 3 when he dies and enters the shadow garden, and in these scenes he even made a declaration of love about her at the beginning of volume 9 (literally the most important scene from the novel was cut from the anime), in short, the director made a terrible adaptation of the character and there are people who still praise him.

Melancholy and Vainglory (one word) used to be sins as well and there where 9 deadly sins, But because Melancholy and vainglory where similar to sloth and pride, they got removed and where integrated in the other sins (melancholy got combined with Sloth and Vainglory with pride) a long time ago.

The dude is trying to make the best of the situation with what he has available to him and has actually saved lives. Just because he was having difficulty trusting others and not always taking into consideration of how others may feel, doesn't mean he's worse.

@kriisyozviak3364 the witch factor didn't originate from them. They got it from someone/somewhere. Satella for example took the witch factor which she was incompatible with and became crazy so she's clearly not the original sin holder.

Witch factor of sloth made sekmeth even lazier for example. Imo i think this was them before their mind got corrupted by their sins. Also according to Google these witches killed a lot of people. Minerva for example do not care about the side effect of her power which is to bring out a devastating natural disasters anywhere each time she healed someone, so she basically killed more people compared to how many people she helped. Daphne created monster so she could feed the world but there's a catch, the monster she created also eats people.
The only witch i think is the least insane out of them all is Carmilla, the only reason her witch factor is compatible with her is not because of personality but because people just like her so much lol. Don't be deceive though, her authority also killed alot of people, the moment you fall in love with her is when you die instantly, but she can't help it i don't think she can control her authority.

No, when they died their "powers" went "available" and the compatible people that inherited them are the archbishops, they are not directly related. That's why no archbishop has the Authority of Envy, since Satella didn't die, she still has it.

They died because of seperate reasons, Satella accually "saved" them by absorbing them and creating this whole tea party bs, for one day to revive them all IIRC, its been awhile though.
Satella is a good person, they cut this information from the anime (and it was supposed to be revealed in this episode) but Satella has a double personality, one is the real Satella (which is the one who wants to help Subaru), the other is the witch of envy that took control of the body and killed half the world 400 years ago.

Actually this is a very good point to consider. In the very first timeline Emilia Went by the name Satella. After that first initial timeline she considered it an absolute insult to be called it.

I don't know why but Satella (apart of that time when she appeared irl) was such a disappointment. Every line she said was just meaningless gibberish.
Every time it goes like this: Subaru asks what tf she wants from him or why did she returning him and she'll go like " you must love yourself more"...??? Bitch what are you talking about?
She gave zero viable info. I swear, we know more about any other witch in the series by this point but not the main one.
Apparently not even the phrase "common sence" exists in her dictionary, so it is in her character, I guess?
If you want to blame someone, blame the director who cut all the satella scenes, including cutting scenes from this ep (they were supposed to have explained that satella has a dual personality, and in fact, in the novel, according to what satella explained, she and Subaru were a couple in the past), BTW Subaru and she have already met several times in arc 3 when he dies and enters the shadow garden, and in these scenes he even made a declaration of love about her at the beginning of volume 9 (literally the most important scene from the novel was cut from the anime), in short, the director made a terrible adaptation of the character and there are people who still praise him.
Well too bad the anime cut so much but satella is awesome she has two personalities and is pretty chill as her satella persona.. witch of envy persona is different tho the witches planned to jump her if she was that persona but when she never reacted to Minerva punch they knew she wasn't witch of envy persona and then she proceed to tell Subaru about her and his seemingly forgotten memories and Subaru wondered why he was feeling warm inside and overflowing with emotions to this person he was suppose to hate
