  • TRACK DAY! Strap in ladies and gents cause its time to get our drag on...this time we head out with our mighty junkyard gt-40's strapped down to this steaming turd and find out if we've hit budget gold or just wasted a bunch of time and a little bit of money.....Is it faster, is it slower, do we break it, do we finally lose it and start throwing things all over the pit's ranting like a madman? OUR FATES REVEALED INSIDE!!!!!!

      @@5.0tussinhey man I have a question that you could help me with please. My F-150 it's a 91 5.0 the head on the driver side says on side have GT stamp and on the other side passenger side has a P. My question if you can help is is that a mustang type engine because before I got it they replaced the engine great motor we're going to do a lot of stuff to it and change the minds they did put header pipes on it and wanted to do more stuff so I won't to finish it and get better performance and everything out of it my stock computer and my truck is crap I want to do a lot of mods to it0 on a budget and if it is a mustang engine I need to find a complete intake because I have the truck intake and I've heard they flow like sht and a dual exhaust true dual with 102 sensor no crossover pipe seems inadequate to me anyways I'm rambling so if you could help me out with letting me know about the engine type if it is or isn't that would be great thank you

    I've come across a video with someone else being told he should change gears like good ole Tussin does.
    To which the video owner said "I don't know how to rebuild transmissions like he does. And he is a god at shifting. So please don't compare me to such greatness" l
    Hope I got the quote right. But yeah. Your shifting is very well loved by others. Me included.

    amazing . 60 feet very good. A question about the race pulley? How is the operation of your alternator charging well with the race pullyes not over heated when used on the street? Thank you, I like your videos. Old school mechanic. I'm waiting for the next video

    • @5.0tussin

      Charging is fine...we've had zero issues with charging...we only use the crank pulley our water pump pulley is stock sized if you were referencing that on the over heating and we use a stock alt. pulley........we've got plenty more coming with this heap and thanks for watching:)

    This video proves to me that the T5 can be bang-shifted just fine. Just like the old T&C Top loader 4-speeds! As I remember it, the Chrysler Hemi 4-speeds (as well as the base models) had trouble with scored synchros after only ONE missed shift. Probably a lube problem. Wonder if there's a secret to the setup on this transmission...

    What gears are you running? I hope it’s 4:30 or steeper for the 1/8 mile. Do you have a 2step in that car? 6500 RPM launches should be the normal with that combination. With that 7.59 ET you should be a 12 teen car in the 1/4. I miss those days. Now I got a low 8 sec car. Small block, single turbo. Not as much fun as it used to be. To fast for the street.

      50tussin I am running a carb on it a Holley XP 750dp with a Victor Jr. Intake. The pistons are Ross 13.5:1 pop ups with Eagle rods, and a factory steel crank that's been worked over real good. I am running a C4 trans with a 3200-3800rpm stall converter and a manual valve body and a stage 3 shift kit and a Hurst quarter stick. The rear 8.8 with 4.88 gears and 31spline axles and a Richmond spool. She will flat shit and get lol. I have a set of Trick Flow Track Heat heads that I have just finished porting for it. I have been porting heads and intakes for everyone around here in N. TX for 20 years. I would put the GT40S on it now against a set of Windsor SR heads anyday. I just dig the crap out of your channel boss!! I have had The Trooper since 1997 and would let her go for a million bucks!!! I had a 1997 Cobra that I built up around 05-09 and I made 1276rwhp from a 5.0L DOHC stroker with a Procharger F1R with 22psi hahahahhahahahaha!!! Now that car was what I call a shitter!! It would slam those butt cheeks closed real quick or make ya crap the pants you have one a might fast lol. I ran fuel injection on the car till about 4-5 years ago I just wanted to try doing it the old fashioned way. I have a Big Shot 500 twin stage kit laying around and had been playing with the idea of seeing if I could make her puke her guts up hahahahhaha!!! Thats very fast for a “GT40 package”
    I have a friend that is making 7 mid second range on a cammed and carburated 351 with stock internals and I found that impressive too! He has a solid suspension (on slicks)
    Sorry for my bad english.

    • @5.0tussin

      It has rear lower control arms...the rest is stock...front is all stock as well (front sway bar removed).........we've been pleased by all of our gt40 cars, this one picked up a little more once we swapped cams and put longtubes on it......
      Driver comfort, being close to the steering wheel and shifter help, having the clutch adjusted a tad tighter than normal...practice in the car with it not running, just pull the shifter and kick the clutch...and once you start, keep practicing:)

      Watching old videos of Ronnie sox and Grumpy Bill Jenkins rowing gears is what originally made me want to be an H pattern driver!! I will just keep practicing then! Lol! For my application would you recommend the stiff walls then? 10 or 10.5? Or does it even matter? Lol shifter magic.. like you're going to tell us about a super badass secret short shifter?? These videos keep getting better and better!

    • @5.0tussin
      @5.0tussin  7 лет назад

      Lots of practice and making sure you're comfortable in the car (seat/clutch pedal release/steering wheel/shifter/shift handle and knob) is pretty much all it takes.....m/t designed the stiff walls to keep the sidewalls from getting beat out of them by manuals...they work really good on autos also....they still wrinkle but just provide some stability on the hit, they are a little heavier but have been working well for me...i went back and forth on hoosier or m/t stiffs and finally based on a lot of internet reading picked/took a chance on the m/t's and i've been happy with them so far....what size wheel? I have the m/t 3053s on a 15x10 draglite...again hoosier makes a nice 26x10 also..cant go wrong with either......

    • @5.0tussin
      @5.0tussin  7 лет назад

      Personally i would wait for a pushrod car....there's guys out there that have had some good success with the 2 valve but for me its a much more difficult engine to work with and has a limited aftermarket (compared to pushrod)......especially the early years (96-98) which immediately need a PI swap (performance improved heads/intake introduced in '99) and the fact its auto....just for a cruiser it would work fine but any serious racing requires some dedication from the owner and a desire to have a "fast" 2 valve......the sn cars (94-98) are also a little bit more complicated to work on than the '79-93 chassis, but do have better handling suspension/brakes and are a tad heavier.......cost to build would be more than a pushrod to make the same power or less imo......
